    Hello from New Mexico!
    I have never thought of putting squash in my chili. Hmmm. That looks like a delicious and healthy meal. Instead of the rice, we might throw it on top of a bed of Fritos, and a sprinkle of sharp cheddar. Here that is called Frito pie. And instead of the paprika, we would use a 1/4 cup of red chile powder.

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      Oh Kara that sounds delicious! Yes I am a little unconventional with my recipes but I grow loads of squash and it really does work well, I promise :)
      Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm definitely trying the Frito Pie!

      I am excited to use the rice cooking method you used in the video. I never would have thought about it! I am new to InstaPot cooking, but not the kitchen or garden.

    I too prefer black beans to kidney beans. We like a Chilli sans carne with peppers and courgette and 2 types of bean instead of meat.
    Great video, I should definitely use the instant pot for batch cooking.

      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      Oh that sounds lovely. I grew and dried some heritage beans (jacobs cattle beans) last year, I might try them as a second bean in that - or any particular bean mixes you'd recommend?

    • @leeray666
      @leeray666 Год назад +1

      @@CookingandCalm no particular recommendations really. Sometimes it's kidney beans, sometimes canellenni. Depends what we have in really. The black beans are a must though as far as I'm concerned.

    Have you tried making pork belly in the duo crisp? I’ve made it in my old pressure cooker before but wondering how it would taste being air fried

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад

      Hi Emily! I haven't but it's definitely on my list. I've made lamb shoulder by partially pressure cooking or slow cooking in the crisp then switching to airfryer to brown and crisp up outside. I wonder if that might work? If you try it, let me know how it goes.

    • @08emily89

      I didn’t think the pressure cook first- I wish I did! I just used the air fryer lid and it was soooo chewy and not nice at all!

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад

      oh dear. that's so frustrating. If you look up "Amy and Jacky Pressure cooker recipes" and "pork belly" on google they have done a combo of pressure and air fryer and they are usually really reliable. Hopefully that will give a better result. Love to know

    Hi, First of all, I love your videos and already made some, i m a first time instant pot user. But my question is, i notice you always add the tomato paste after presuure cooking and not with all ingredients at first. Is there a reason for that? I always make bolognese and add the tomato paste to the beef and saute a bit before adding the stuck but never made it in pressure cooker before!!! Please let me know ❤

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there and thank you so much for that kind comment. Yes, I'd definitely do that in a pan method, but tomato paste in a pressure cooker can thicken the sauce to the point where it causes what's called a 'burn notice in the Instant pot . Not cooking it through can cause bitterness but I don't notice it with my brand. Recently though I've been experimenting with just dropping the tomato paste on top of the sauces though(no stirring), then pressure cooking, then stirring in at the end. It works great so do try that. I hope that helps 👍
