- The Reiter Extenso has always been one of my favorite GT3-class cars. In 2014, starting from one of their Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 the guys at Reiter Engineering modified it widening the rear axle and adding a few aerodynamic parts to reach the result you see in this video: the Gallardo Reiter Extenso (or R-Ex).
Listen to that very particular V10 howl testing on track!

@@Willbrse the huracans lines are too progressive to simply add aero to and preserve its look. thats why the svj is a one of a kind car because it is very difficult to build upon a highly idealed platform. the gallardo on the otherhand is excellence in its simplicity, it does great in minimalism and basics which can be particularly basic to establish a new design upon. congruent brilliance vs angular brilliance, unlike angular designs.. congruence will always give way to creativity

Oh, the days (not really long ago, but i couldn't come out with better wording) when the only Lamborghini race cars wore the Reiter signature and were "home made" rather than shared-platform R8s and before "Customer" Racing programmes dominated the GT world. Beautiful video, beautiful car!

@@francoisg3500 This year I was in Melbourne and it was 26C which was beautiful, spent the morning relaxing on the front lawn having coffee saying Merry Christmas to everyone walking by, when it's over 35C that's when its pretty uncomfortable and you don't want to eat much, those days the fun starts at night when you head to your friends house with a pool.

I swear the noise that comes from NA V10 motor is compared to none other. It has such a beautiful F1 note. Like a symphony of music to my ears.

Davvero Teo. Eh potrei dirti ha avuto vita un po' sfortunata questa R-Ex. É stata presentata a fine 2014 e nel 2015 ha corso con dei gran bei risultati. Problema è che proprio nel 2015 Lamborghini è entrata ufficialmente nel programma GT3 con la Huracan, mentre tutte le Gallardo GT3 erano costruite dalla Reiter. Quindi penso tu abbia capito già tutto... In più Huracan, R8, 650S, M6, AMG GT3 erano tutte la "seconda" generazione di vetture (per di più Huracan/R8 e la 650S sembrano già più delle silhouette che delle auto derivate dalle stradali, come aerodinamica) quindi ovvio di cose che non se ne son viste in giro molte. Però l'anno scorso al GT Open a Monza, ce n'era una e mi sembra abbia dato del bel filo da torcere alle più moderne GT3, anzi forse Gara 1 aveva vinto e Gara 2 aveva fatto un secondo posto!

It's going to be a sad sad day when that N/A V10 gets killed for a turbo V8.
I will shed more than a few when that happens. However, NA V8's and electric cars won't save the environment. I'll stick with the V10's.
why would a company that only builds v10 and v12 engines drop to a v8?

Gallardos need to race in GT world challenges or GT/endurance racing in general , the gallardo is so iconic especially in GT3, the huracan just hasn’t done it for me , I would love to see a 2021 Gallardo GT3 race In endurance again that would be so sick

This car was unveiled in 2015 and they raced/still racing in the various GT3 championship like GT Open, Blancpain GT Series, ADAC GT Masters etc

The good news is Gallardos are coming down in price!

And in 2021, r-ex will be raced by boutsen ginion at gt open.. i dont know if it will be competitive or not

With the regular Huracan it was even faster sometimes

The car has been unveiled at the end of 2014 and during this years has been raced in many GT3 championships. It's not a one off, luckily, and I'm pretty sure you can still buy a new one from Reiter at the moment ;)

I hope there'll be some team racing it again in one of the various GT3 championship. "Unfortunately" the car has been unveiled at the end of 2014 before the start of the 2015 season and it was very competitive. Problem has been that since 2015 Lamborghini started their own GT3 program with the Huracan (all the Gallardo GT3s where built by Reiter), so you know... Last year there was one racing in the GT Open Series and I saw it pretty much on the same level with the more recent GT3!
@@19Bozzy92 there was one in Blancpain Endurance and Sprint this year, and it managed to qualify 4th overall out of 54 newer GT cars (well, excluding the Jaguar and Aston's) which shows it does have the pace. They were in the top for quite a while until their pit stop went wrong and they got a drive through. Fingers crossed Reiter come to Blancpain again for 2019

I really don't get what this is, it's not really from Lambo, it's from 2015, and no one seems to know where it will actually race, I'm puzzled but it looks super hardcore.
I'm quite amazed by the fact this isn't a well known car. Before 2015, when Lamborghini officially unveiled their in-house built GT3 car (the Huracan GT3), there wasn't an official Lamborghini GT3 car. German racing team Reiter Engineering was the factory that built/modified and raced Lamborghini's in various GT championship starting with the FIA GT in 2000 with a Diablo GT, then replaced by their Murcielago GT1. When in 2006 the new FIA GT3 championship was launched they decided to built a GT3 race car using a Gallardo. During the years many of them were built, raced and sold to private teams but the Gallardo was also updated. This Gallardo R-EX is the last updated version of their GT3 cars that was launched at the end of 2014, when "unfortunately" Lamborghini unveiled their own Huracan GT3 too. The R-Ex has been a bit
overshadowed but it was and still is a very competitive car, even faster than the official Huracan. The car isn't a one off, of course, and I'm pretty sure you can still buy a new one from Reiter ;)

Last year dduring the 2017 Italian round of the GT Open, one of these did a 1'46.780 in qualifying
