  • 2007 was the era that produced what we think are the most pure drivers cars, this was a time just before the take over of technology, before the flippers market really existed, they are uncompromising cars built purely for the driver and in this video we drive all three back to back.

      Nothing can touch the Scud for beauty and aggression. These days Ferrari design is complex and changes too frequently. What happened to the days where a new Ferrari launch happened once per decade. Without computer screens, the Scud will likely age much better than anything since.

      There have been plenty of epic/desirable Turbo cars over the years - the Ferrari 288 GTO and F40, Porsche has had Turbos since the 70's (911 and 944 - not to mention the iconic 959), and as for more attainable cars from the 80's and 90's - the Ford Escort RS Turbo, Sierra/Escort Cosworth's, Lancia Integrale, Renault 5 GT Turbo, Evo's v Imprezas, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Nissan GTR and 300ZX, Toyota Supra...... need I go on? 😉

    • @isimon.
      @isimon. 5 лет назад +2

      Orfan Productions Still, the modern turbo engines lack sound. Even if you look at hight performance ones like in a Senna, 488 Pista, A45 AMG, Huayra...
      Older turbo engines had crazy sounds, due to less restrictive laws.
      When it comes down to enjoying a car, just for the feel and the way it makes you feel, I think there it no way around a NA engine.

      I don't. They were nowhere near as 'desperately trying - and failing - to be funny' back then as they were in later series, but now there are so many good youtube car channels I have no need of 'Top Gear'. Indeed, I stopped watching before they stopped doing it, haven't watched the new version and haven't watched 'The Grand Tour' (can't imagine why I'd bother with that).
      Amazon wasted their money on those three, as for the average person the novelty wore off and for people interested in cars you can watch far more knowledgeable people with far less BS involved.
      I think 'Top Gear' seemed so good back then because there were so few alternatives and we'd been starved of a programme on cars for years. If they did that show now, I think most people's response would be 'meh'.

      I also love the RS but it would have to be in grey with red decals !
      The Gallardo with a manual box is very special as well with its bonkers engine but not my pick of the 3!

    I'd go for the Gallardo Superleggera because it could have been specced with a manual gearbox. Those will be rare I guess, but it wouldn't have aged the car so much. And that V10 soundtrack is absolute heaven!

    the gallardo sl 1st gen came in manual also btw..... just most people speccd the egear.... few examples of the gated 6 exist..... you could buy the gallardo, convert it to manual, convert it to rwd, dial it in (adjust toe & camber) and you would have something very very special, while still being cheaper than the other two. thats the route id go.

      TheSUPERCARDRIVER Having spend the summer in my SL, Your comments are pretty accurate. A brutal and involving experience, especially the upshifts at 8000revs and aggressive downshifts gives it SO much personality. Chassis balance, steering feel and brakes is spot on - when used hard!
