GReat tips guys! A great list! I was in Maui in February and I doubled the boat trips- I would go out on a dive boat and whale watch while heading out and back from dive sites. The sittings were incredible. Best sighting was while diving near Molokai, i had a whale about 100 feet away from me Jane it was singing. A truly remarkable experience! Great channel, I am recommending it to many people I know who want to know more about Hawaii and visiting.
I didn’t think of scuba diving. That’s a great way! Great scuba diving around the au’au channel where the whales frequent. Thanks for sharing our channel, we appreciate it!
We didn't try whale watching on our recent trip to Oahu because we heard Maui was so much better. We'll save the experience for when we get to Maui someday. Thanks for the great video!
We did the catamaran last time but I want to do the raft boat. My son gets motion sickness and I wanted to see if you think the raft type could cause more motion sickness.
Love the channel, thank you for all the great videos! We are visiting Maui the first week of May...is that too late for whale watching? I'm a little hesitant to book a tour knowing it's just after the peak season. Thoughts or suggestions would be very welcomed!
Thank you for all of the great information and videos. I'm taking my mom to see the ocean for the first time this February! I was looking to book the whale watching tour with less people (2 hour VIP) but looks like the 10% code doesn't work for this trip? Was hoping to use it and support your videos! Maybe it's not worth paying extra for less people but it says a regular trip can have up to 26 people and that seems like a lot of a zodiac raft. Any thoughts?
Going to visit Maui in a few days...what do you recommend to keep 3 and 5 yr old entertained for long plane ride? Thanks for sharing, your videos are awesome, entertaining and educational.
I’d recommend a sail boat or another boat so they can move around. Tours have min ages but it is more about if the child can be on the boat for two hours.
We loved watching your experiences. My autistic son loves dolphins. I am hoping we can see them, but a little sad that we won't be there for whale season.
Awesome tips guys. You are a lovely family. My kids love you. God bless the three of you🙏..We have a question, do your promo codes only work on Maui? How about any operators on the BI?
We are working with getting promo codes on the other island but for now we are working with Ultimate with HVG and Sail Maui with HVG10. Mahalo for watching!
Really enjoying your videos. We are planning to go to Maui in December with a 2 year old, thinking of the trilogy and a sunset cruise for whale watching, do you think this would be enjoyable? too chilly? choppy water? or should we just plan to do an 8 am whale watching tour? what do you you suggest?
You should expect temps in the 80s for sunset in December, even on the water. Bring a light jacket if concerned but we haven't felt cold. The channel is calm for sunset as not much trade winds in front of Lahaina. Trilogy is great but so is Sail Maui with our 10% promo code, if you are interested, HVG10 at checkout!
You guys are so awesome. We have a similar size family, with a 2.5 year old boy and another due in July! We just returned from our 3rd trip to Maui (5th to Hawaii total), last week, and we're strongly considering moving to Maui this fall. It would likely only be a 6-12 month stay, though who knows where that will lead. I don't see any of your videos talk about where to live as a native mainlander. Could you please either do a video on that or share some tips? I would really appreciate it. Right now our thoughts are somewhere in the Kihei or Lahaina areas. Thanks for all your videos!
We don't like sharing where to move to on the island as it is such a personal preference. Check out this video for some tips: ruclips.net/video/hEzI6wH89OM/видео.html. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new one on the way!
Hiya! My boyfriend and I love your Chanel and we are looking forward to going to Maui. However We’ve seen a lot of stuff going on in the news lately regarding the vaccine. Hawaii is said to be starting the vaccine passport? If we don’t get vaccinated can we still go with our negative Covid test results?? And would we be able to enter places?
This is our concern as well, as we don't intend to receive the vaccine. We actually just returned from Maui a week ago and the test process was quite easy. I'm hoping they keep offering the test option for those who can't or don't want to receive the vaccine. Also, this probably won't answer your question fully, but we had to show our test results 3 times total during our weeklong stay: getting off the plane in Maui (direct from LAX), getting in the car rental shuttle (didn't rent from a company at the airport), and to check in at our condo hotel. After that nobody cared. We didn't spend much time indoors because Maui, but I can't think of a place that would ask for your test results/vaccine record. Also, people are much more strict on masks back home (for us, SLC Utah) than they were out there in Hawaii. Yes people wore masks, but on the beach almost nobody was, and at the pool at the hotel, almost nobody was. It was so refreshing.
The lt gov is working on a vaccine passport and hoping to start in may. No update has been given in a couple of months. They will continue with the pre-testing program for the foreseeable future. The islands aren’t expected to be vaccinated till Labor Day. That is the goal.
We are headed there in July. How strict are masking rules there now? Outdoors? Beach? Is it laxed or strict? Would love any info you can provide on that subject. Pools open, restaurants open?
As our Maui Mayor Victorino says, "I tell you right now, as far as I’m concerned if you can’t obey our rules, don’t come if you can’t wear a mask or do what is right.” A mask is required in public. One can take off their mask when social distancing at the beach.
I have a question. We are staying on the big island next month. Is it worth it to fly over to Maui for the day and explore and do a whale tour or just stick with a tour leaving from Kona?
Thanks for the question! Stay on the Big Island as they have good whale watching with guaranteed sightings. Our favorite tours are listed here: thehawaiivacationguide.com/hawaii-recommendations/hawaii-best-tours-and-activities/big-island-tours-and-activities/
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thanks. After posting I saw your #2 mistake was not going to Maui. Can you elaborate? More concentrated around Maui or about the same leaving from Kona?
My wife and I have our first Hawaii trip planned in the beginning of June. We're headed to Kapaulua. Should we plan a whale watching trip? Is it worth it?
Hi I have a question about arrival in Hawaii I found a flight to Oahu but I need to go to Maui do I need to submit a COVID test for Oahu and Maui or just maui
You can use the same test but will need to complete a health questionnaire and get a QR code for each flight. Same test as long as within the 3 day timeline.

I find it to be a smooth ride. I can’t say he won’t get sick but I’ve never seen a person get sick on a raft and I’ve done a lot. Enjoy!
I have a motion sick family member and she did much better on the catamaran than she did on the raft.
Another great video. Glad I subscribed to The Hawaii Vacation Guide, so I can just pull these up a month or so prior to our next visit.

we keep Henry entertained with Playdoh, stickers, and puzzles. TV once those don't keep his attention.
Can’t wait for our trip to Maui in late April. What are your thoughts on helicopter tours around the island?
Aloha John, we haven't been on helicopter tours so we can't recommend one. Enjoy the trip in April!

where you able to use your drone on these trips
afraid not, tour operators won't let you fly a drone.
Do they let you swim in the water with the whales or do you have to stay on the boat?
One has to stay on the boat. Swimming With the whales 🐳 isn’t an option. I think they let you donor in Tahiti
I’m coming in August! Will there be any whales out?
They will be home in Alaska and back in December.
Are certain months that are better than others?
January and February are the peak of the season that runs from December through April.
Its September now, not the season, so no good to try?
Yes, no humpback whales here now.
im going around the 10th i want to see whales can i see them in the big island
It is getting late in the season. Call whale watching tour operators to see how April is looking. Tours are running on Maui.
Howd!..Can you get lucky in late November?
you can get lucky on a sunset cruise or snorkeling trip. Sometimes the young bucks show up early
Any chance of seeing whales early May?
Thanks for asking! You may see some from shore but low probability. Some migration stragglers may be around.
Have you ever seen any orcas?
We have not and very rare to see them. Other whales can be seen throughout the year but humpback whales come here for their annual migration.
Howd! Any orcas?
no orcas, but sometimes other whales can be spotted like false killer whales
