This is one of your best videos yet. We’ve made several of those mistakes especially on our first time here in 2020. Our daughter planned that trip and there was no rest due to more than one excursion per day.
Getting ready for our fourth trip to Hawaii and thankful to be watching another one of your great videos, you’ve both been so helpful with tips for vacationing on the Hawaiian islands. Thank you 🍍🐠🌺🌴
Going to Maui for the first time in 2 days! We bought 2 itineraries-one for Kauai too. Watched every video from HVG and loved watching your kids grow. Thank you for your help!
Another nice thing about Punalu’u black sand beach is the parking is always close! It’s also a really nice drive with cool stopping points such as the southern most point of the US and the bakery.
Love your videos! My favorites of all the Island videos - you give so much insight! Having had a condo on the Big Island and still traveling to the Islands as much as possible, I love your recommendation of trying the local restaurants and embracing and learning about the culture! Also - get to know the people - they are amazing! Our experiences have been enhanced by becoming friends with bartenders and restaurant servers! Cheers!
The cold weather here in Ohio is making me miss our honeymoon to the Big Island back in August 😢 Thank you guys for some great tips that helped us make our time there the most special it could possibly be!
Love you guys! We’ve been going to Maui for 35 years! Just got back in April…..can’t wait to go again….( your videos reinforce our love of Hawaii….) P.S. those kids are growing up FAST! Aloha…🌴🌈❤️😎
Yep things happen! Almost two years ago we took our three teens on a two week vacation to Maui. We had saved for over a year. On day two my daughter broke her leg slim boarding. It was awful. We are doing a redo trip this April and we can’t wait!! Hopefully this next time nothing too crazy will happen.
Good info in these videos... been coming to Hawaii for decades and found a couple of new things in prior videos- thanks/mahalo! Something to remember is that certain places now require a ticket/pass/reservation (Iao Valley, Wainapanapa, Diamond Head, National Parks), not hard to get but require some planning... and some are near impossible to get (Arizona Memorial, Hanauma Bay?) without a tour. Check hours of operation for your can't-miss stores/restaurants/museums; some are open odd or limited hours/days and many are closed on Sundays on outer islands. A shopping bag might be useful to bring along. Lots of good local music to check out too, especially on Oahu.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide where do you get the ticket/pass/reservation for Iao Valley or other places on Maui and the Big Island that require them? Does Haleakala require such things now or Volcano Nat Park? Thank you!
Oh, I so want to go back to Maui again but I just can't find the reasonable airfare even near what I got in March. One of the best tips is to not over-book every day as it won't allow for rebooking. So glad I took your suggestion on that because both my Pineapple Tour and Whale Watching tour had to be rescheduled due to weather and a boat repair. Also, thanks for the book suggestions.
We´re going to Hawaii for our Honeymoon, but we´re from Spain, so the idea of visiting first to scout is a bit overpriced for us with a 22-hour flight included lol 😅
Hi guys! Love your videos! Are you still not recommending Manta tours because of the overcrowding situation? (Saw your recent alert on your website recently) We decided on the snorkel trip with Zodiac at Kealakekua. Thank you for all you do ❤
Thank you so much for all your videos!!!! We are taking a cruise round trip from San Diego with an overnight in Oahu and are so excited! We got engaged in Kona and am looking for the location of the welcome to Kona sign. Can you let me know where it is located 😀
The welcome signs are usually at the airport exits. I can’t think of a welcome to Kona sign in Kailua-Kona or the Kona district but I’m probably wrong.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide We are going to Kona/Big Island in 3 weeks. Do you have any videos or recommend others if yours arent ready yet? I LOVE your info on Maui so could really use it for Kona....pretty please?!
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide absolutely epic. Expensive, but it is possible to save some money with planning and using deals. Cars, hotels, flight, food...
That is the best thing I’ve heard in a long time. Please let me know if you talk her into it. In all truth, everyone will have a good time. It’s Hawaii.
Hello, so I'm going to be having a holiday trip at December for 4 days in Honolulu. I was wondering if you could give any tips or advice as a newcomer or first-timer in Hawaii?
We stayed at Waikiki beach around 3 years ago. We didn't get a rental car, but we were able to walk almost everywhere. You can take Lyfts to places you can't walk to for the most part. Bring microfiber towels since beach towels won't dry.
I would be most interested in a Hawaii National Park sites travel guide for all islands. I would most likely fly in to Honolulu and stay with friends. I am not sure of the logistics to island hop and the most efficient way to see all of the sites over the course of a several weeks.
Here is our guide to island hopping: thehawaiivacationguide.com/hawaii-island-hopping/ Haleakala National Park is on Maui and Volcanoes is on the Big Island. We have videos on visiting both.
#1 all time biggest mistake: attending ANY kind of time share "event" to score 2 for 1 or free tickets to a cruise/zipline/luau. Trust us, some friends did a Diamond resort meeting to get "free" tickets and they spent over 5 HOURS trapped and not able to leave said timeshare meeting . They asked for their credit card immediately and had not 2 not 3 not 4 BUT 5 different people come back and try to pressure them into buying a time share after they had already said no every single time. Don't do it!
#16. Groom: come by yourself without your future bride first. Leave her at home and have an awesome vk. Send her videos and pics saying "wish you were here."
Please add not to take swims in early morning, evening/night , which ARE feeding times for Tiger & other species of sharks? People have been killed more often swimming during those times !

Just starting planning my two week, 1 week Maui and the 2nd week in Kauai. June can’t come fast enough.
You have a great game plan! We have more videos coming out to give you ideas. June will be here in no time.

Very helpful video.
Ugh, yea. We have 1 day with a snorkel tour and a lu'au that night. Thankfully its the only busy day we have (aside from the RTH day).
That will be a fun day! I’m sure the luau will keep you awake! Have a great trip to Maui!

May I request a video about itineraries, ideas, advice for people visiting via cruise ship?
We have a big article on that and a cruise itinerary thehawaiivacationguide.com/hawaii-cruise/
Love your videos! Come and visit us again!!
Would you guys be able to make a current video of can’t miss things on the Big Island? 🙏🏼
Will do! It will be out in late March. We have more Big Island coming out this winter, like things to do in Kona and a Kona guide.

We did 10 days per island and even this was too short 😂
O'ahu, Kauai, Maui and big island.
😮 wow! What an epic trip! We agree, there is a lot to do on the islands. We are always trying new things.

What’s a fun reef safe sunscreen s?
A fun one? Blue Lizard changes its bottle color in the sun.
I'm sorry, what!? Husband gets to go on a "scouting" trip to Hawaii, without the bride who's actually doing all the work? I think not!!! 😂
haha, it is worth a try! probably not, actually...
So 3 islands in 14 days is too much?
It is doable. We’ve done it with kids but it can feel fast.
Leave at least ONE(1) day OFF! No plans.Wander.Catch a sunrise on the beach with the birds & the palm tree shadows....turn off your phone.Really.
Great advice.
