It’s so good to see you again, I LOVE your videos! This is literally my favorite place in the world, and you truly hit the nail on the head with all your recommendations! I will add that there’s a beautiful Hindu monastery/temple on the east side (near Kapaa) for anyone who would like to check it out. I’m not super religious, but I am into energy and this place feels special. I prayed for a child and wrote it on a piece of paper which was later placed in a prayer fire by the monks. We had been married for 13 years and still hadn’t been able to conceive… Within that year I got pregnant and I truly believe it has something to do with a blessing from this specific place

A great video, as always. I think I've mentioned before that your Florence video enhanced our trip there. Now I want to go back to Kauai! My husband and I were there almost 10 years ago, but I just said to him, "I think we did it wrong." Okay, we had a great time, but you showed so many things we missed. Also, if that's what 40 looks like, you're making it look great! Granted, I did cringe a little each time you were shirtless in direct sun. I feel so seen watching this video! I grew up in Lahaina but in 6th grade my dad moved to Lihue. Matt absolutely NAILED so many of the things I love to do. I am shocked at the level of detail covered here. The only one I haven’t had the pleasure of doing is the helicopter ride so that is DEFINITELY on the list when I go back to visit next month.

I’d just definitely recommend exploring some other parts of the island too! It’s all beautiful over there. You can’t go wrong anywhere you choose to go. Everywhere you look is a postcard. I felt like I was cheating while filming haha. Everywhere I pointed the camera, there was something amazing to film:) Have the best time!!! 😆

Holy shit you’re back! I went to Italy and Hawaii because of your videos! Also every single restaurant you recommended in Hawaii was exceptional! Thank you! I definitely plan on going back
@ The line at Leonard’s bakery was insane but worth it, couldn’t find Giovanni‘s shrimp truck 😭but I did manage to find this local place that source their own shrimps, I like the spicy shrimp more than the garlic. Kono was life-changing good! 😭 best pork sandwich I’ve ever had in my entire life! I DREAM about the ginger salmon at Diamondhead😭🙌🏾🙌🏾 they removed the park benches when I went so I just sat on the sidewalk😂 Food took about 30 minutes but it was worth the wait and I wish I had ordered two plates! And yes the market next-door was also super good! I was sad to find out that Ahi assassin‘s closed😔 Ono was good but I found this amazing place called five star poke & hands-down still the best I’ve ever had! The shave ice reminds me of some thing we have in Jamaica called Sky juice. The two are very similar with very similar flavours. I tried to go hiking but you need to book an appointment to get on most of the trails and since I didn’t plan ahead it was hard to get a spot. All in all it was a 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back and I can’t wait for more videos from you

@@MattsTravelTips it’s so hard to decide a a favorite because all of them have different beauty and activities. I like big island for adventure but still have options for luxury and relaxing options. Oahu for the beginner friendly surf in Waikiki + city convenience. Kauai or its little town charm all around the island and activities. Maui for the romantic vibes. I would love to see Maui in your next Hawaii travel tips video! I THINK i did all the highlights in Maui and need some recommendations for my next time there.
I completely agree:) They all have their own unique and wonderful vibe. Maui is definitely on my list! Love that island. Haven’t been back since the fire 🥺
Just returned from Kauai two weeks ago and you describe it perfectly! It is truly beautiful! We did Captain Andy’s Sunset Dinner cruise and it was amazing! I’ve never had better service at any restaurant ever, all while eating great food and taking in some of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen. We hiked the first leg of the Kalalau Trail, can be challenging for beginners but stunning views. Novice hikers should not go beyond the first 2 miles. We also loved Wings Over Kauai. The flight was amazing!

Hahaha you’ll LOVE Kauai! It’s just as wonderful as Oahu in its own unique way. Much more of a small town vibe. Utterly spectacular, rugged, and dramatic landscape and scenery. Excellent beaches. Great video with some great tips. I really enjoyed the Oahu video from 5 years ago and have it saved in my "Hawaii" playlist and go back to watch regularly, so I was both surprised and delighted to see this video pop up. I disagree with one of the restaurant recommendations (not Kalaheo; we love that place), but following the rest of the recommendations and ideas would make for a very memorable trip.

One thing I remember from traveling to Italy SO long ago (I'm also 40) (Love your Florence video! So much respect for how much you encouraged seeing The David! It changed me to my core!) is that I felt shame for being a tourist. As I learn about the current state of Hawai'i and hear that the local people and environment mostly are in need of healing from the impacts of tourism, I'm noticing those feelings again. Granted, I'm not there yet, but I thought I'd ask if you've ever felt similarly or how you have the courage to get your needs met especially needing to get footage! @zebrabell Thanks so much for the insightful comment! Love that you’re thinking about the locals. It is true, the locals in Hawaii have a great sense of pride for their island that, sadly, many tourists don’t always respect. That’s why I made sure to include comments about that in my video. I wish I had said more about it in my Oahu video. My family is from Oahu, and I spent a lot of my childhood there. This is true of anywhere I visit, but I’ve always found it’s important to make sure to learn some local customs and traditions before visiting a place. But I’ve always found I get back what I give. And I always approach my travels with that mindset. Remembering that I’m a guest. And honestly…the people of Kauai are lovely. Treat them the way you want to be treated, and all will be great. It’s a lovely place. Also YES to the David. I’ve seen it 3 times and cried every time haha. It’s truly amazing.

I feel so seen watching this video! I grew up in Lahaina but in 6th grade my dad moved to Lihue. Matt absolutely NAILED so many of the things I love to do. I am shocked at the level of detail covered here. The only one I haven’t had the pleasure of doing is the helicopter ride so that is DEFINITELY on the list when I go back to visit next month.

I’d just definitely recommend exploring some other parts of the island too! It’s all beautiful over there. You can’t go wrong anywhere you choose to go. Everywhere you look is a postcard. I felt like I was cheating while filming haha. Everywhere I pointed the camera, there was something amazing to film:) Have the best time!!! 😆

@ The line at Leonard’s bakery was insane but worth it, couldn’t find Giovanni‘s shrimp truck 😭but I did manage to find this local place that source their own shrimps, I like the spicy shrimp more than the garlic. Kono was life-changing good! 😭 best pork sandwich I’ve ever had in my entire life! I DREAM about the ginger salmon at Diamondhead😭🙌🏾🙌🏾 they removed the park benches when I went so I just sat on the sidewalk😂 Food took about 30 minutes but it was worth the wait and I wish I had ordered two plates! And yes the market next-door was also super good! I was sad to find out that Ahi assassin‘s closed😔 Ono was good but I found this amazing place called five star poke & hands-down still the best I’ve ever had! The shave ice reminds me of some thing we have in Jamaica called Sky juice. The two are very similar with very similar flavours. I tried to go hiking but you need to book an appointment to get on most of the trails and since I didn’t plan ahead it was hard to get a spot. All in all it was a 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back and I can’t wait for more videos from you

@@MattsTravelTips it’s so hard to decide a a favorite because all of them have different beauty and activities. I like big island for adventure but still have options for luxury and relaxing options. Oahu for the beginner friendly surf in Waikiki + city convenience. Kauai or its little town charm all around the island and activities. Maui for the romantic vibes. I would love to see Maui in your next Hawaii travel tips video! I THINK i did all the highlights in Maui and need some recommendations for my next time there.

Just returned from Kauai two weeks ago and you describe it perfectly! It is truly beautiful! We did Captain Andy’s Sunset Dinner cruise and it was amazing! I’ve never had better service at any restaurant ever, all while eating great food and taking in some of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen. We hiked the first leg of the Kalalau Trail, can be challenging for beginners but stunning views. Novice hikers should not go beyond the first 2 miles. We also loved Wings Over Kauai. The flight was amazing!

I really enjoyed the Oahu video from 5 years ago and have it saved in my "Hawaii" playlist and go back to watch regularly, so I was both surprised and delighted to see this video pop up. I disagree with one of the restaurant recommendations (not Kalaheo; we love that place), but following the rest of the recommendations and ideas would make for a very memorable trip.

One thing I remember from traveling to Italy SO long ago (I'm also 40) (Love your Florence video! So much respect for how much you encouraged seeing The David! It changed me to my core!) is that I felt shame for being a tourist. As I learn about the current state of Hawai'i and hear that the local people and environment mostly are in need of healing from the impacts of tourism, I'm noticing those feelings again. Granted, I'm not there yet, but I thought I'd ask if you've ever felt similarly or how you have the courage to get your needs met especially needing to get footage! @zebrabell Thanks so much for the insightful comment! Love that you’re thinking about the locals. It is true, the locals in Hawaii have a great sense of pride for their island that, sadly, many tourists don’t always respect. That’s why I made sure to include comments about that in my video. I wish I had said more about it in my Oahu video. My family is from Oahu, and I spent a lot of my childhood there. This is true of anywhere I visit, but I’ve always found it’s important to make sure to learn some local customs and traditions before visiting a place. But I’ve always found I get back what I give. And I always approach my travels with that mindset. Remembering that I’m a guest. And honestly…the people of Kauai are lovely. Treat them the way you want to be treated, and all will be great. It’s a lovely place. Also YES to the David. I’ve seen it 3 times and cried every time haha. It’s truly amazing.
