A really good video. Been there last Month, and explored the whole island of Kauai as much as we could from Princeville to Waimea Canyon. Tried different food trucks, it was really good. Lydgate beach is our favorite place as it is near our hotel where we stayed. But don't miss the Puka dog located across Po'ipu beach, yumyum. The highlight of our trip was the door-off private helicopter tour which is breathtaking and amazing. Kauai is so beautiful, I think it's our favorite island and we are planning to go back there again this year.

Snorkeling is amazing at Poipu Beach. Very surprised you failed to mention it, and instead favored a beach that doesn't lend itself to swimming, let alone snorkeling. Shipwreck Beach is a pass-through just to get to the cliff trail, IMO. Excellent snorkeling at Lawai Beach too. It's very tiny but offers some of the best South Shore snorkeling. Not coincidentally, there is a Boss Frog's snorkel rental shop about 20 steps away.

There is a bit more to Lihue. The Kauai Museum is there. It is small but packed with history about the island. Another historical place to visit is Grove Farm. A former plantation home also with a train ride. Kilohana Plantation also has a luau. Lastly, there is one tall building on the island. The Royal Sonesta/Marriott. It started out as the Kauai Surf Hotel and is the reason for the ordinance limiting the height of buildings to the height of a coconut tree.

Yes you did a great job.. I am
Torn on whether to come here or go back to Puerto Rico. I had such a blast in Puerto Rico that I feel like why should I try to fix what’s not broken.. however… older kids I got like variety and Hawaii landscape is so incredible. With that said.. I am trying to find it mind you.. but I have yet to really find that character that PR had. It’s too hard to put into words. It was like… rent your car and go.. fill up your back packs with some food and goodies. Put some beer into a small cooler and get ready for your adventure.. many for free mind you. Every day was an adventure. Yes we did excursions too that were very reasonably priced. This however… Kauai is likely the only island I’d be interested in.. but I just haven’t been able to get past the sight seeing aspect. I don’t mind sight seeing mind you, but needs to be more. So I am not giving up on kaui, but so far it just doesn’t measure up yet to PR… at least without experiencing it. I know.. how can you say that, but that’s why imma keep looking.. I was intrigued by the kalaul hike, but far too dangerous…. Especially with kids.. that’s about the “it” I’ve found so far. However… thank you for video. I got some great leads to research further and hopefully I find the “it” I’m looking for without risking my life ie kalaual hike. Funny, they fine you 300 for swimming in easy access waterfalls, but pay 35 bucks for a permit and risk life and limb.. that’s ok huh. Tale of two extremes with no middle ground. It’s either too commercial and sight seey touristy or it’s just too dangerous, but looks like an incredible time. That’s what I’ve found so far. So thanks again for the leads to dissect further by looking at more options.

The Smith Family Luau is the standard by which all other luaus fall short. The Smith Family takes you on a tram tour of their tropical gardens, then gather everyone for the blowing of the conch shells before the unearthing ceremony of the Imu and Kalua Pig that has cooked by the heat of lava rocks, then it's time for a feast while the Smith family entertains with song and hula, then you are ushered to the Island pageant show. I will not give you even a hint of what you are about to experience except it starts with an erupting volcano with Pele rising out of it. We consider the Smith Family Luau a do not miss on each of our vacations in Kauai. Don't doubt me when I say this will be one your most memorable adventures. We always start our luau experience on a Smith Family flat boat up the Wailua River to Fern Grotto and the rest of the experience which I briefly described above is truly magical. Only in Kauai. Mahalo Nui Loa for reading and enjoy🌴

      Hi Nicholas.
Not sure if we should take that as a compliment or and insult but, no, it is not AI generated.
It takes a lot of work to put these videos together and to incorporate our unique perspectives along the way.
I would like to think our videos are hardly generic in any way. Hope you enjoyed it.

I thought the same too in the first 2 minutes because the narrators voice sounds like that of the same voice that narrates a lot of videos of my youth but I soon realized he says "we" and you can hear the narrator's voice interacting with the woman in the videos

your video has decent content, but what stood out to me, is why certain names were mispronounced repeatedly. different languages have different accents/sounds that most non-native speakers will probably never pronounce correctly..... i totally get this. this is not the case here however. for some reason, you guys pronounce WAIMEA as why-ME-uh. literally every other video on kauai, pronounces it correctly as why-MAY-uh. the MAY is the exact same pronounciation as the month of MAY. another one is where you pronounce hanalei as hannah-lay, when any other video/guide/person you speak with, will pronounce it correctly as honna-lay, the same sound you would make when you say the word "haunted". how much stock would you put in a travel video for scottsdale, AZ if the narrator kept pronouncing it as scottsDEAL and arizonaY. just my feedback.

Wow!!!!! You have nothing good to say about the video? There is so much good content here, perfect for people like me planning a vacation to Kauai. I’m not so worried about pronunciation, this is a travel guide not a pronunciation video. I’ve been following this couple for years they have great content. Sad that you feel like you need to bash them like that 😮

@@roscoebuddy1055 nothing good to say? did you even read the first 5 words of what i posted? it's something worth noting, especially for folks from Hawaii like myself. do folks go around pronouncing it arizoNAY? if someone made a travel video and pronounced it arizoNAY it feels a bit off, especially since there is no effort to pronounce this correctly, like ME vs MAY.

@@arizonatennis7370 Wow!!!!! You must be bored, maybe you should make your own travel guide comment rules. How's the state of tennis in arizoNAY? see how off that sounds? but like i said, it's decent content. just off putting to hear something so simple pronounce the wrong way, like arizoNAY.

I totally get that, locals don't want tourism to take over the island. But without tourism what would happen to the economy of Kauai? Thanks for watching our video, we do appreciate it. Its really a beautiful Island, one of our favorites - so much so we were married there.

All the islands need tourism. There is also an island no one is allowed to visit and they have native Hawaiians who still speak their language…
