Because they're demoing $200 guitars through $2,000 worth of backline processing. The average consumer who buys one of these guitars will never get anywhere close to that kind of tone. Point being, with the right player and the right production values, like TheGhost5600 said, you can make the box the guitar came in sound great. The guitar itself becomes irrelevant in the final mix.

I used to be afraid of buying an electric guitar. Because i really don't have a lot of money to spend and i was afraid of getting crap. But i think i'll finally do it relatively soon. Maybe something used?
Dagan, I watched all 30 minutes of your video. I think you did a really nice service for all of us , even here in the States. These days, the guitar companies are giving you more quality for the money as in contrast to my days when here in the states we could buy a cheap guitar from a catalogue like SEARS or Montgomery Ward, when it came in, you could barely play the strings because the action was so high. These days a for a bit shy of $200 you can buy a decent axe as you are showing here.I have a bunch of these 'cheap basses' in my arsenal. I often play them at live gigs, even though I own Fenders, Gibsons, and Ricks,...I still enjoy my Squires and Epiphones and Ibanez's that cost a third of the price! The differences in quality of parts are what make the difference as one gets more seasoned in the 'guitar world ' of things. But, that is a natural progression of anything we do. Nice job, Cheers for you!
I watch Dagan every night to put me in a good mood. His personality is infectious and his playing is impeccable. Love His Videos! He could sell anything!!!
I was thinking of getting that guitar pack but then I saw An epiphone Les Paul studio LT, which I thought of getting with a boss Katana mini amp, for not much more money than the Slash pack. im a complete beginner, and it's only for sitting in my bedroom learning so a mini amp would do for me. I'm not sure what to get now lol.
Agreed - I have mine for 2 years now, great guitar and the pickups are amazing - Has a better tone than my Kramer Pacer classic which is much more expensive. Have a few videos playing it on my channel as well!
Hayden Lloyd right?.. when I bought mine, I played thru the amp at that guitar shop.. I was sold over the playability.. thinking I'll only change the electronics.. got home played thru my amp, messed with the EQ a bit.. I kept the electronics.. the only thing I changed was the pickguard and tuners..
I didn't expect the Les Paul was going to sound that good. But I'd still choose the Pacifica, though. Pacifica's bridge pick-up sounds relatively close to the Les Paul, but Pacificas often stay in-tune way better than Epiphones, especially Les Pauls. But yeah, both are awesome guitars for their prices.
Is it just me or did the Yamaha Pacifica have the best tone for chords of the cheap guitars ( not considering washburn cos it isnt always in the same price range)? Was going to say the SG was the pick until he played the Yamaha on humbucker setting.
I've got the exact same model, and I can confirm that it is *STUPIDLY* awesome at offering a wide range of sounds. After about two months of playing with it + a Blackstar ID Core 10, I've concluded that it's an amazing guitar for dipping into several genres, including lofi, acoustic-style rhythm, metal, surf, dreampop/shoegaze and some shreddy stuff. Go get one if you want to try a bit of everything. The only hangup I have with it is that the trem is vintage style - it keeps in tune pretty decently as long as you don't abuse the whammy bar, but that's where the main weakness of the guitar comes in - it's impossible to pull the trem up. Yep, you can only lower the pitch with it. Obviously this can be worked around by installing another trem bridge or just bending your strings, but it is something worth considering if you're obsessed with dive-bombs and such.
SPHiROS you can float a strat style bridge if you want to be able to go up a little. The Pacificas come set up decked (meaning the back of the bridge touches the body) but you can float it with the trem claw in the back.
My favorite part is “....Slash!” I’ve got the squire Tele and it’s fantastic but I also have the Ibanez Mikro and it may be my favorite guitar of all time. Until I buy something new and that is my fave for a bit but i always go back to my mikro
Squier tele is amazing imo really stacks up against some of the higher end fenders. My friend has a usa made telecaster and yes it's better but honestly not by much and I actually prefer the neck on the affinity it's soo easy to play.
Slash is the whole reason I want to pick up a guitar and play. Tried playing bass for a while but playing by myself it wasn't as fun as I hoped it would be for me. I feel like doing what I'd like would be best so here I am 😁
The first electric guitar I had was a Yamaha Pacifica telecaster model. After that I've had so many guitars I can't remember them all. The circle has now closed of a kind. I bought myself a used, older Yamaha EG112 which is a fantastic guitar. It cost me 100 euros, including a brand new case which itself costs 60 to 80 euros. I call that quite a good deal. If I have to recommend a new guitar to a beginner it would be the Pacifica.
For a while I played an epiphone Les Paul Junior that costed £120 and it was ok but I sold it because it didn't excite me at all. So, the question is, what to buy next?
"Apologies to Slash," proceeds to play Sweet Child. LMFAO. The biggest lesson for any guitar player: Learn how to use your amp's EQ to tailor sound. It's you and your EQ, not your axe. (If you suck, it's not your axe or your EQ. Practice.) Basic settings are for basic minds. Experiment to learn.
There's also something to be said about actually bad guitars. Like my BC guitar + amp combo that costs $80 new. The B string plays open as though I have a finger on it failing to play a harmonic. So playing that string without fretting makes it muffled/muted. And the amp sounds like it's a small bluetooth speaker being played into a plastic cup. If anyone's reading this, learn from my mistake, don't go the cheapest route and buy a quality budget guitar like the ones shown in this video!
Mikeureko check out the guitars sold online by guitar fetish. You won’t see them on a video like this because they aren’t sold in music stores, only online. But there are videos out there of people playing them. They sound totally amazing for the price.
@@mikeexits That can be true. However, the best budget buy ($99) was my first guitar. A Kramer set (guitar+amp.) After I did a proper setup, it's better than most mid range I have owned since. The reverb unit died years ago, but I still play the thing 25 years later.
I think my primary school teachers had seen this video, since they had just same Epiphone Les Paul and Squier guitars in music class. I loved playing that Epiphone guitar, might buy something similar someday
The Yamaha blew the Squier Strat away! The AFD sounded great also! Dagan can really play! Love his reviews! And he has a cool name....just missing an r. Lol. Similar to mine....Dragan. Dagan has very inspirational videos, I just had to subscribe!
Mind you that is the cheapest squire strat and made in China...the Yamaha is a great entry level guitar but to be fair it would actually go up against a squire standard strat
1987 (G&R) , I remember I joined the military in 1987, saw them live in 1990 at Wembley Stadium, the iconic camera pan in Paradise City scene, I was there!!
The Squier Telecaster is quite impressive, got that authentic twang sound found on an expensive Fender Telecaster; the Squier Stratocaster however is kind of lack of that bass tone we usually find on other Fender Stratocasters.
Affinity Teles are great - I've run into quite a few people who love theirs right out of the box. The Squier Strats get better the higher up the foodchain you go, like the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe models. The Bullets and Affinity models do make a great base for mods though - I've got a Strat Mini Bullet that I did up with the GFS Gold Foils and a machine head change, and it sounds killer.
See my comment above. Electronics (IMO) are the weak link of the Squier Strats. Not just the pickups being sort of meh, but the pots not so great either. But other than that, the Affinity instruments I've tried have been very impressive at their price points. For the money, I think you could do a LOT worse than getting one and just upgrading the electronics.
A very wise guitar genius friend of mine, who shall go nameless, (Keith More) told me many years back "they know how to make a neck now, just get the thing set up properly, and you're very likely to have a nice playable guitar" perhaps in the 50's 60's only Gibson and Fender, could produce really good instruments, now the cheapest Ibanez Gio's are still brilliant guitars, that's my layman's view off it. nice video,
Stephen, couldn't agree more. Bodies and necks are now being made with CNC machines, which makes them perfectly to spec at a fraction of a cost of having a human do it. Obviously QC and parts quality are still important, but even made in China instruments can be pretty good, and you can get something absolutely outstanding for well under $300 now. Its really to the point where, except for status, I don't think most players will see any advantage spending four figures on high end instruments. Just went over an Affinity Squier Strat; I was blown away by how good it was, because it was NOT always the case that Squiers were good. For $100 used, the thing had a nice hard gloss burst finish, perfect fretwork (dead level with smooth edges), functional tuners, and passable (admittedly not great) electronics. IMO, not much "prestige", but a perfectly serviceable instrument, and if you swapped out the electronics it would be FUNCTIONALLY not different than a Strat costing 5-7x as much.
6:31 Not sure if he had strap locks or was just incredibly lucky but that strap made my heart skip a beat, thought the thing was gonna pop out with all that neck dive xD
It's the fox! I never tried it. Strat sounds really good with heavy distortion for metal, like Slipknot for example. How does the Yamaha sound playing Slipknot?
@@alexanderestk i have not tried playing slipknot but the humbucker on the Pacificas comes reeaally handy with metal. With the pacifica you can achieve a wider range of tones than with a SSS strat. Now I dont know what kind of squier strat you have, it might be an HSS one
Mikey Newman yeah. A lot of people that I know were convinced that Appetite came out in the 1990s. I would show them the back of the CD, then they'd concede.
I have a Pacifica, Sounds excellent. I can even tune everywhere from E Standard all the way down to drop C and the tone is perfect for metal, blues, rock or even jazz if you dial it in right. Humbucker has more punch in it than My Schecter SGR C-7 Pickups.
Random Pheidole. What do you think is the biggest differences in build quality? Because Cheap guitars build at high volume by Fender/Squier are made using CNC which is faster and more precise then a human and produces the same results no matter where in the world the machine it is, also Indonesia grows all the right kinds wood so supply chain becomes cheaper and more reliable. I’ve looked at the Indonesian Classic vibe range, Indonesian made Ibanez and Chapman guitars all of them are well made. Don’t get hung up on the Internet nonsense about where it’s made because these claims are made by people who don’t understand how manufacturing works. If you’re worried about quality try them in person where you can. If you can’t cheap guitars from large brands do tend to have better QC but don’t expect $3000 quality from a $300 guitar but the difference is small and it’s definitely not going to be 10x different. As for pickups there’s plenty of videos online that show that a lot of it is snake oil just pick the type you like because single coils do sound different to humbuckers and if you want high output or low out put.😉
@@sid35gb no I didn't. I compared my 60's strat with another 60's strat. Of course neither of them couldn't play better than, say, an American standard, but my stock CV was evidently superior in terms of build quality and tone (I think the old ones had different pickups).

Want to know which one is easiest to play for action and neck not too fat wrap your hand around. I currently have a squire of some kind but meh think I like the sg
I used to be afraid of buying an electric guitar. Because i really don't have a lot of money to spend and i was afraid of getting crap. But i think i'll finally do it relatively soon. Maybe something used?
You get your new guitar?
Has it been done?
I have an epiphany les Paul special ii. Great starter guitar

Did you get your guitar? Hope it was new though, I wouldn't recommend used guitars for newbies unless they're in great condition

If he had to crack down everyone who plays or played a Strat, that's gonna be another 30 minutes at least before moving on.
People are gonna have me but Pink Floyd is super overrated.
Jeff Kroboth I bought the Epi SG special 2. And upgraded all the hardware and electronics on it. Sounds and plays just as good as any Gibson
I watch Dagan every night to put me in a good mood. His personality is infectious and his playing is impeccable. Love His Videos! He could sell anything!!!
I have the Slash afd Les Paul special 2. I absolutely love it. Definitely a great guitar for the price.
I'm not sure what to get now lol.
im a beginner as well the katana amp sounds very cool i have a vox myself i wish i had the katana
I went and damn switched it for a Jackson js30 king v
xneverwalkalonex Go for the Slash one. The built in tuner in the bridge pickup ring is a life saver and works perfectly.
Agreed - I have mine for 2 years now, great guitar and the pickups are amazing - Has a better tone than my Kramer Pacer classic which is much more expensive. Have a few videos playing it on my channel as well!
That Affinity Tele sounds great in this demo!
Bro I have one I picked it over a mex fender it's unreal
Got an affinity strat the
Indonesian made one
Feel is great
Desperately needs a setup tho
I bought that Tele to have a guitar to play in between bass practising.. it made me want to play guitar instead of bass
It always sounds great! I have one too and I love it.
Nearly 7 minutes each for 7 guitars each
*perfectly balanced as all things should be *
ManUNkind that doesn’t make any sense. If that were the case, this video would be about 49 minutes long
You didnt do so good in math class did you
Just gonna guess your grade in math class was a C, perfectly balanced between A, B, D, and F!
1:40 did he reach for a whammy that wasnt there?
Cam Par Nope, he changed the pickup.

You clearly aren't American if you think losing less than 3% of my body weight is a problem
Is it just me or did the Yamaha Pacifica have the best tone for chords of the cheap guitars ( not considering washburn cos it isnt always in the same price range)? Was going to say the SG was the pick until he played the Yamaha on humbucker setting.
Bazzo Smyth Pacifica is the most underrated guitar ever
Those Pacifica 012s are definitely exceptional
I love my Pacifica. Rock solid and sounds great.
SPHiROS you can float a strat style bridge if you want to be able to go up a little. The Pacificas come set up decked (meaning the back of the bridge touches the body) but you can float it with the trem claw in the back.

Squier tele is amazing imo really stacks up against some of the higher end fenders. My friend has a usa made telecaster and yes it's better but honestly not by much and I actually prefer the neck on the affinity it's soo easy to play.
Check out the epiphone les paul special i if you want a cheap guitar with p90s that's actually pretty solid. They're super cheap- under $200

Woah this guy can really make anything sound good. I kinda liked his talking tbh.
I got the epiphone lespal special #2 this christmass and love it!!

He didn't, if you look closer he switched the pickup, from bridge to neck.

Had an rgx121s for 25 years. Still plays great and stays in tune. Will upgrade pickups some day but they're decent as is.

I kept my bullet strat very happy with it . would I be wrong saying it is the most comfortable guitar to play on earth.

Not sure if he had strap locks or was just incredibly lucky but that strap made my heart skip a beat, thought the thing was gonna pop out with all that neck dive xD
My first guitar is a Squier Strat and I agree 100%. It’s an amazing guitar.
Yamaha pacifica is much better
It's the fox! I never tried it. Strat sounds really good with heavy distortion for metal, like Slipknot for example. How does the Yamaha sound playing Slipknot?
@@alexanderestk i have not tried playing slipknot but the humbucker on the Pacificas comes reeaally handy with metal. With the pacifica you can achieve a wider range of tones than with a SSS strat. Now I dont know what kind of squier strat you have, it might be an HSS one

Appetite was 87
Mikey Newman yeah. A lot of people that I know were convinced that Appetite came out in the 1990s. I would show them the back of the CD, then they'd concede.

Especially the Chinese ones!
They nerfed them when they changed them to Indonesian ones.
Random Pheidole minor lol 😂 I don’t think you’ll be able to hear the difference. Not that Cort has a factory in Indonesia 😉
@@sid35gb they've changed the pickups, and the difference of quality is rather significant, too.
