FIGHTING FOR THE GOSPEL - TRUE FAITH AND BELIEF IN JESUS

  • Welcome to this second video in the series: FIGHTING FOR THE FAITH. I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS TEACHING
In this lesson, I will help you see what FAITH really is, and how far away we've come from the Biblical FAITH we see in the Bible. Sadly, we have gotten a Greek understanding of FAITH as simply a mental state, instead of a Biblical understanding of FAITH as OBEDIENCE.
Yes, FAITH and OBEDIENCE are actually synonyms according to Hebrews, just as UNBELIEF and DISOBEDIENCE are also synonyms. FAITH is ACTION, and we can see what people BELIEVE by their ACTIONS.
We will also look at the phrase, "Faith Alone", and how faith cannot be alone. Faith alone is DEAD, as the Bible says!
But, if we talk about faith alone in the context of the Catholic Church, then yes, in that context, we believe we are saved by faith alone. See more in this video:
I believe this lesson will challenge many of you out there, because it really shows how deceived we, as the church, really are, and how we have misunderstood what true Biblical faith really is.
I also believe it will help you come into TRUE FAITH, and give you revelation which will set you free! Yes! This will help you when you read the Bible, to understand what it means when it talks about faith - works or obedience.
May we all come back to the truth of the Gospel, when it comes to what FAITH truly is and what it means to believe in Jesus!
    Let’s fight for the Gospel!
    God bless you!

God has blessed you Torben along with me and many others with these teachings and what He is doing through you! It speaks straight to the heart and reaches to the soul and the Holy Spirit confirms the Truth of the Words being spoken! If it was not for your obedience to believe God Torben many people would still be trapped in their sins and believing a lie, in bondage and lost! So thank you Torben for your faithfulness to God and your belief in Jesus to love us enough to tell the truth, and also your willingness to do the work! God is still working and He is building His Church, His Kingdom and completing the Body and He is using us all who believe to do it! HalleluYAH for opening our eyes for understanding and the Truth that brings freedom because Jesus is Lord! God bless you Torben and thank you for these beautiful teachings of the truth!

I meet up with people from a church I used to go to and tried to share them the truth but they said baptism was important but not a necessity and used these verses alone to make me question it but I didn’t let the enemy discourage me. My family in laws helped sharpen me and helped me in the the spirit to expose the lies but they are just professing believers not ones who truly fear the lord and have faith in Christ through obedience. This video is great and helped me understand why it does say faith alone and the truth meaning of it. God bless you fellow brother.

Nothing I said could get her to rethink her thinking. God told me to let it go, I would be too overwhelming for her. He will send someone else who will better relate.

Very clear message all the way over here to Texas brother Torben !!!! John 1:17 Jesus is grace and truth, so truth is expressed with words, for Jesus cannot lie, so we must do what he says, not just a hearer of the word but a doer of the word, and what’s really amazing we get to !!! Faith is expressed with corresponding action, we repent when we believe the truth, we get water baptized in Jesus name where the massive chains fall off and the old man gets buried and our sins are washed away when we believe, and God delivers His promise of the Holy Ghost. The Gospel is everlasting, Peter shared the same Gospel with the Jews as he did with the Gentiles, no difference. God is using you to confound the wise brother Torben, no one can take away the love of God shed abroad in your heart through the Holy Ghost- Hallelujah,Hallelujah to the King Jesus , may Gods grace and mercy be with you brother Torben

Very helpful. I think the emphasis on "works of the LAW" is really important to clarifying this. No one can say, for example, that "repentance" is a work of the LAW. It is hard to even see it as a work since Jesus came to save us FROM our sins - that is central to the Gospel. Perhaps people see repentance as "work" because they have not been freed from the old nature in baptism?

Very good point. When I was first saved I was told being convicted of my idols and getting rid of all my unnecessary treasures, ornaments etc was filthy rags to God because she saw it as works. It confused me because I had been born again and was responding to the Spirit’s conviction! I wondered if sometimes they try to discourage us to be repentant and obedient to comfort them in their sin - they gather worldly treasures and have a life that is actually worldly but try to make it christian or christian flavour if you get what I mean?

Jesus died on the cross to atone for the sin of mankind. We believe in what he did, but our salvation is found in his blood that paid for our pardon. God’s justice is satisfied fully by what Christ did in his obedience unto death. We turn to God and rejoice in Christ Jesus, having no confidence in ourselves, but in the one who bought us with his own blood. He is our rest, our hope, our righteous, and our peace. Isaiah 42:6 “I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles”. Yes, the new covenant, in other scripture, the everlasting covenant, is a person, Jesus Christ. The God Man, the mediator between God and Man, 100% God, 100% Man. Relationship is required, otherwise on that day, he will say, I never knew you. Hi Torben, this is a really important message - in fact the whole series about christian foundations - thanks for it!
There is actually a further biblical proof for what you argue in this video. The original New Testament Greek word for "faith" (as well as its Hebrew antecedent) has the root meaning of "faithfulness". In almost all places where you read “faith” in English translations, you can safely replace it with “faithfulness” - mostly these passages become much more meaningful. At some places it is already translated as “faithfulness”, like in Galatians 5:22. It is one and the same word in Greek. This excludes the meaning of “faith” as only a "rational assent to truth propositions" like is sadly prevalent among many evangelicals. This also shows why for original readers "faith" and "obedience" are inseparable: it is simply about being faithful to Christ - to everything he is and does and tells us to do. Paul actually makes this link explicit in Romans 1:15 and 16:26, where he speaks about “obedience of faith(fulness)”. This is natural: if I am faithful to someone I will certainly listen to him and do what he tells me. How much more so if this “someone” is the Lord of all: being faithful to him and yet not obey what he says would be a complete contradiction.
From this it is also clear why faith without works must be dead, like James says, since it is not faithful. But now to have a complete picture, it would be also good if you addressed the issue of “works without faith”. Hebrews 6:1 calls them “dead works” (obviously as an opposite to “living works” of faith). This is a problem especially in legalistic and traditionalistic environments. I don’t think these are always only works of human traditions or works of the law. I have encountered people who were also doing the New Testament commands only out of a sense of duty or obligation, without a personal, trustful, faithful life-communion with Jesus. I have even seen people “repent” in this way: confessing sin out of a sense of guilt, but without actually trusting and experiencing Christ’s power to forgive and transform. Even more, I have met people who got baptized out of a sheer sense of obligation, without the faith and love to enter into baptism as a covenant-making act, with everything that it involves. What would you say to these people? (So that we don’t go into the other ditch :)

  • @GodsOath_com

Childlike faith, obedience, Follow Me, do what I do….if we follow Jesus we will do what he did…and he preached repentance and lived Holy.

  • @GodsOath_com
    @GodsOath_com 3 года назад

If you have childlike faith, you will obey God, the same as you obey your earthly parents. This is why God said to honor parents, as training to obey God. If you were abused by earthly parents, you need to forgive and then King David, who was rejected by his family said, Psalm 27:10 “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” This verse also answers the question of abortion and young children who die before hearing the Gospel, God takes them. If Jesus said repent, we must obey and repent.

  • @j.d.grimes3660
    @j.d.grimes3660 3 года назад +1

The bottom line of what this video is teaching is that faith is obedience, and to be saved by faith is to be saved by our acts of obedience to Christ. Torben says that we are saved by works-not works of the law, but works of faith, of obedience to Christ. That it is through obedience that we are made righteous/justified.
The entire focus of these messages on the gospel seems to be us-our faith/obedience, our repentance, our getting baptized, our getting the Spirit, our continued obedience. I don’t deny any of these things, but the gospel is not about us, it’s all about Jesus. Believing in Jesus is about having confidence in his work on the cross as our salvation, and no work of our own. No act of our own obedience could make us righteous in God’s sight, which is why the works of the law cannot justify us. No other works we do can make us righteous either. That is why God wrought the righteousness through Jesus Christ, entirely apart from us. He then gives it to us as a free gift when we believe on him.
Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
It’s true that biblical faith isn’t just in our head, it’s in our heart and it has to flow out in words and actions. But our obedience is a result of the saving grace of Christ, and not the cause of it. I fear that some might watch this series and totally miss Jesus, and up trying to work their way to heaven by their obedience. I love and obey him because he saved me, and it’s that message of salvation in the blood of Christ that is the gospel message God wants us to preach to bring others to love and obey him. Faith/Obedience and all of these things will naturally follow from the preaching of the cross.
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Hello Torben, I want to start off by saying, all the TLR teachings have rocked me! One question I had is how does John the Baptist and his preaching of baptism fit into the picture when Jesus didn’t preach baptism because he didn’t die yet. How could John the Baptist preach about baptism when Jesus didn’t even die yet? It’s been hard to wrap my head around. And if John the Baptist baptized in water Jesus why wasn’t Jesus baptizing people while he was alive. Looking forward to hearing about this! Again thank you so much for all you do!

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,”
concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.

What about those who have experienced such traumatic things at a young age who now in young adulthood are struggling to trust, have faith and learn to have a relationship with Jesus? My daughter has such trust issues and fear from people in authority that she believes strongly in Jesus but struggles in how to know Him. She prays and has had the Holy Spirit give her times of peace and calm during prayers that she knows He is real. She is just almost paralyzed with fear at other times. Are you saying that unless everyone who does not have complete faith/repentance/Holy Spirit baptism as you describe will not go to Heaven because they are not saved? Even those on the path that are walking the path and earnestly seeking God?

What does every day life look like preaching the gospel and finding the person of peace. Is it always asking if someone needs prayer? Or healing? What do natural conversations leading into talking about God look like?

I have lost count how many times i have litteraly gotten 3 steps outside my front door and there is either a person standing right there or there is a person walking by that is ready to hear Gods word spoken to them...and sometimes its spoken not by using words, but by me just listening or sometimes its spoken by me laying hands on them and a healing takes place right then and there. Time and time again ive had this same experience happen so i can only say to you this -
Genuinly ask God to equip you to be a worker in the harvest field and He WILL answer. And you better be ready to surrender your old ways and get ready to cloak yourself in His garments to do His work because nothing less will be acceptable to Him.
One last piece of advice - when you pray to be used by Him, make sure you also pray that he will give you the courage to speak up... and the wisdom to shut up. Lol

Why do theologians say that the Holy Spirit "baptizes" you into Christ? It like they are saying when you believe the Spirit puts you into Christ's body. Is there scriptural support for that? But Gal 3:26,27 says "So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." Is this saying that water baptism is HOW you get into Christ? If that is the case, then we must conclude that baptism is essential and not a "work" because it is the way you get into Christ in the first place.

Because of 1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV: For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Theologians take this and use it to build a doctrine out of it, but it is a mistranslation. The Greek says IN one Spirit, not BY one Spirit. So you are inducted into the body of Christ through being baptised in water and being baptised in the Holy Spirit. There’s NOTHING in the Bible I can see of “The Holy Spirit baptising you in Jesus”; only Jesus baptising you in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16)

The meaning is not crystal clear to me. OK, so maybe it doesn't mean "BY the Spirit into the body," but what does it mean if not that? The "drinking into" one spirit I think refers to baptism IN the Spirit. So what does the earlier reference to Spirit refer to in that verse?

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’
And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Hello Wendy, in John 14:16-28 Jesus tells the apostles that he is leaving but he will send the Holy Ghost- “ The Comforter” . He told them that the Holy Ghost is about them but later shall be in them . In Luke 24:49 just before Jesus ascended to the Father he tells the apostles to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father and that’s where the book of Acts starts, the forming of the church. In Acts 2:38-39 Peter filled with the Holy Ghost, gives the Gospel, notice he’s not denying Jesus anymore, He’s Holy Ghost filled. The gift of the Holy Ghost is for today Wendy, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave, and Jesus said that even greater things shall you be able to do John 14:12. We must be born again, born of the water and the Spirit, its for today, Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever

@GREEN I believe Romans 2:5-9 is going through the gospel as does Romans 1 talking about unbelievers and the effects and their sin. As we see in 1 Corinthians 3:12-15, we may be judged by our actions and our rewards will follow suit from them, but our salvation is not dependant on them:
"Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire."
As is confirmed in Romans 4:4:
"Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt."
I.e we don't work to get our grace/salvation (something only God can give) but because of we are indebted to his free gift. We cannot earn salvation through works, its a gift from God.
"For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast" - Ephesians 2:8

    • @JesusSavesSouls
      @JesusSavesSouls 3 года назад

@@jacobdiscipleofjesusforeve419 I agree with you. But our salvation is not dependant on how obedient we are to God, his love doesn't come with conditions (its unconditional) whether we are obedient and fully on fire for God, or not.
Only Christ could be fully obedient to God, and all disobedience is like witchcraft to God. All things done not in faith are a sin, so its impossible to reach the level that can satisfy God (So Christ had to do it for us). We are unable to reach the level of perfection, and we need Christ to make us perfect, as we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Now the righteousness of God is passed through faith.
"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith" - Philippians 3:9

    Regarding Romans 10,9:
When it comes to the word LORD you have to see what is actually means: kyrios (greek) which means Lord (who is exerting power over others), master, commander, ruler. Therefore, if you confess Jesus as Lord you say something about the relationship between Jesus and you, you are his servant which implies obedience. Second, you can only confess what is true. E.g. I cannot confess that I am lets say an alien because I am clearly not. Therefore, if you are not the servant of Jesus by practical measure you cannot confess Jesus as Lord so this condition of being saved does not apply. This is, imho, the most clear and logic interpretation of this verse. I have not met a single person who denied that this is linked to obedience so far. Most importantly, it shows that this verse is in perfect harmony to the other commandments (repent, get baptized, obedience).
edit: Luke 6,46 is basically confirming this interpretation. So if anyone should still be doubtful, cite Luke 6,46

By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.

I was following you with my Bible Torben about Belief and Obedience and I must say I still prefer NKJ( even though it’s difficult) as there is evidence that someone(I pray for that one, because there is terrible recompense for ANYONE who changes HIS WORD!) REMOVED SPECIFIC WORDS when rewriting it. We MUST FULLY ACKNOWLEDGE GOD’S WORD IS HIS TRUE no matter how WE humans feel or perceive it!!! The HOLY SPIRIT WILL CORRECT OUR UNDERSTANDING; this is a reason we MUST RECEIVE the Holy Spirit! SO when you read Hebrews3:18 my KJV says Believed Not - it did not say obeyed. Ok so I still understand that Believe and Obey are connected but it’s still ALWAYS through LOVE. Our LOVE ❤️of GOD leads us to BELIEVE AND OBEY otherwise we are going back under the law. I have stopped going to church a long time ago because I cause see this happening before my very eyes! God has lead me on a very long journey only to CONFIRM I WAS CORRECT IN MY CHILD LIKE THINKING - GOD IS LOVE and the Law is LOVE and HE WANTS US TO FREELY LOVE ❤️ HENCE OBEY HIM because HE KNOWS ALL THINGS! I have learned NOT to be defensive(I still struggle, repent and submit) towards other Christians because they are SO INDOCTRINATED! Keep teaching with LOVE Torben and as I reminded you once before it would be Very Beneficial fit you to view your first few videos because it WILL GET WORSE and the way they will TRY to Trip Us Up is with our Words. I am REALLY FOCUSING on Words the Lord is showing me that each word has relevance! HE should know because HE CREATED ALL THINGS! Amen Hallelujah! Praise the Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit! Amen 🙏🏻🙌🏻❤️🔥👑🕊
