Nintendude is the pride of his region, and to many respects Wobbles was the same to AZ. ICs is hated beyond anything else and for being such a meh high tier, it doesn't make sense. At least Shiek doesn't have such a learning curve.
+Sam Hyden Wobbles is from Arizona though... Hence some of his nicknames, like the Desert Eskimo, the Pheonix, and Arizona Anger. He lives in Texas now, but he's from Arizona.
PokemonTom09 actually I believe he's originally from Texas, moved to Arizona, where he got good, and then moved back to Texas. Could be wrong. But either way, he's more Texas now, not Arizona
How to know if you're an IC's player 1. Do you spout endless memes to everyone you know? 2. Do you want to make no friends in the Smash community? 3. Do you want to run the risk of literally getting your ass kicked mid game? If you said yes to one of these then you might be an IC's player.
"by far, the ice climbers' biggest strength is their unforgivable grab game." at first, i was sure you meant their "unforgiving" grab game. but on second thought...
How to know if you're an Ice Climbers player... 1. Did you take classes in the portables outside the school? 2. Do you know more than 4 digits of pi? 3. Did you take lithium pills this morning? If you answered 'yes' to any of these, you are probably an Ice Climbers player.
Wobbles is easily the best ICs, and definitely my favorite. He completely innovated Ice Climbers grab game, and he's gone places and figured out things that no one else has even come close to with this character. Plus his combos and desyncs are godlike.
Transcedant Only based on results is he not the best, and that's only due to his poor attendance. The only other player to contest the spot is probably Nintendude (going off of results, that is), but just look at Battle of the Five Gods and tell me that isn't proof of Wobbles' dominance.
From my perspective, I would say that Ice Climbers are perfect for good defensive punishers, players that enjoy taking their time to strategise with a wide variety of desync mixups and grab-game. Also, it's extremely effective practice to have a good SoPo. Many players out there don't expect a SoPo to be able to perform well, unless you're really good, and being a very good SoPo is excellent training for dealing with slim odds in your favour. The Ice Climbers are extremely great characters and one of the best things in Smash. I come primarily from high-level Tekken, in which King is my main character, a grappler and defensive punish-type character, and I feel that my mentality in Tekken as a King player translates very well to playing Ice Climbers in Melee. Take your time, bait out attacks, punish their wiffed attacks and force them to respect your grabs. Ice Climbers are also incredibly diverse characters to play, because despite me playing a lot of Spacies, Sheik and Marth, Ice Climbers are that extra spice that keeps me coming back and keeps the game fresh with variety in gameplay.
Chu Dat is my favourite by far. His goofy personality mostly, but also his legacy honestly makes him one of the greatest players of all time, being so high level back in the "golden era", and still being very skilled throughout the years. Including: Bo5 set win over Hungrybox in 2010 (while wobbling was banned), 2013 set win over M2K, Top 8 finishes at EVO 2015 and CEO 2016.
Something that he didn't mention that also heavily limits the Ice Climbers movement, is they can't dash dance when they're together. Nana will become desynced from Popo if you attempt to dash dance when they're together, which will prevent her from shielding, meaning you'll be left wide open. This really limits their otherwise fantastic ground movement, which is why you see a lot of Ice climber mains pretty much solely using wavedash to move around the stage.
He said recently he's going to wobble mercilessly. It's just he calmed down on the wobbling because he wanted to develop other areas of icies kit, but is coming back as a stronger player overall.
I played smash bros melee so much in highschool but never really at a high level or great understanding. I was pretty good compared to all my friends but I barely knew how to wavedash while no one else knew what it was. It's so cool that after all these years videos are being made on it 15 years later explaining mechanics and things I'd have never thought of.
Oh look, a video on Ice Climbers. I play that character. Here's my two cents on ICs - Power: 3.5/5. Ice Climbers have ruthless smashes and quick hits making them a force to be reckoned with when Nana and Popo are together. Their aerials hit like trucks and can send opponents offstage for early edgeguarding situations. Their power is proportionate to how many climbers are active on the field at a time though, and losing Nana from a string of one or two hits can reduce IC's power further than half. Not only to they lose their desync potential when Nana is removed from play, Popo struggles to gain footing in situations and is easily dealt with similar to Mario or other mid/low tiers. Speed: 3.5/5. Similar to Luigi, Ice Climbers have one of the best wavedashes in the game, allowing them to zip around the stage with insane speeds. Their landing lag on their aerials might not be the best, and their hitboxes on their smash attacks might be lacking (You generally can't hit somebody from the front of you if you try to up-smash with ICs.), but their insane ground game can carry them in and out of situations and create a split second bait/punish game when utilizing their wavedash with their dash dance and desync abilities. Range: 3.5/5. Ice Climbers have decently disjointed aerials that can beat out a wide variety of moves in Melee, as well as some decently sized tilts that can catch opponents off guard. Though their range is nowhere near Marth's level, it can still work on in favor of them beating able to beat moves coming at them. What really holds ICs back from having a higher range is their vertical mobility - interrupting people with their disjointed aerials is a test in itself. (Something to note. IC's fair is their highest reaching aerial, and Ice Climbers generally can not hit an opponent standing on the top platform of battlefield without using their double jump before their Uair. They simply won't reach it.) Ice Climbers also have issues with their grab range, which is actually smaller than one would think. Due to their low traction on the ground, well spaced aerials or specials can be impossible for the ICs to capitalize on, even if they are mistimed (A good example of this is trying to shield grab Falcon's side-b with IC's.). Recovery: 2/5. Ice Climber's recovery is one of the best examples of the term 'glass canon' in Melee. When Nana and Popo are together, their recovery can reach new bounds. On the flip side though, Popo struggles to get back to the stage. It's worth noting Popo is the one of the only characters in the game that can not turn around his Up-B when recovering alone, making it impossible to grab the ledge when he isn't facing it. Even with Nana and Popo together, a simple aerial and split them apart, and sending Nana into her tumble animation will secure her demise. Ice Climber's lackluster vertical recovery options are slow, and easily prone to shine spikes. Survivability: 3/5. Ice Climber's weight paired with survival DI can make them live for seemly insane percents, but can also be a burden to them. Making them an easy character to combo with just about any character in the cast, they are a easy target to kill. Overall Offense: 3.5/5. Ice Climber's burst movement options with their wavedash and their near-instantaneous downsmash makes them a force to be reckoned with. Their approaches are very reliant on their grounded moment however, and can be easy to predict with practice. Ice Climbers have trouble dealing with camping characters due to their poor mobility in the air, making characters like Captain Falcon a favorite in the two's matchup. (Platform camping is a very viable strategy against the Climbers.) Overall Defense: 2.5/5. Ice Climbers struggle against characters with a projectile-centric neutral like Peach, Young Link, and Samus. Though some of their moves like blizzard can help them escape low-impact projectiles such as needles, their poor platform game makes it difficult to escape from pressure. Ice Climbers are for you if: - You favor learning a complicated neutral game instead of a complex punish game - You have a technical mindset and a fervor to develop new tricks and change the meta - You want to be unique or you enjoy representing a underutilized character - You don't mind using a high variance character/You enjoy glass canon characters - You enjoy a variable moveset oozing with potentiallities. - You enjoy retro 2D platformers and old school Nintendo history
Since im a subscriber for quite a long time i wanted to give u a big compliment :] almost everything fits the naration, the clips (!) and also the humor greetings from germany :)
I love the Ice climbers. Mainly because of their adorable little faces. They were my main in Brawl. I was really annoyed when they got rid of them for smash 4.
Huh. I thought Samus was considered high-tier because she's pretty common in competitive play. I guess she's right on the border of the high-tiers. Peach should definitely be next, though. Unless Kira decides to cover Pikachu instead. Or Luigi. Or Ganondorf. Or Doc.
Wobbles most definitely. Even wobbling is such a useful technique for ics, he isnt entirely dependent on it and uses their other options as well. Plus he's a pretty smart guy and styles a lot. After Wobbles, i'd say ChuDat and Fly Amanita. No disrespect to the other ics mains, those 3 are just my favorite.
Noticably missing from this "Are You a _____ Player?" video is the "Ready? ... GO!" after they're introduced and just before you actually start talking about them in-depth.
I mean obviously it's Fly, he's in a tier of his own since he doesn't wobble (tbh that always bothered me that he would limit himself like that), but wobbles is a close 2nd. The day Fly Aminita starts wobbling will be the day that m2k wins a supermajor, armada doesn't make top 8, hbox switches to falcon and mango shaves his beard.
BenjiTech out of all the things i said him shaving the beard is probably the one that will actually happen. When i originally said this i said Hax would switch back to falcon i have no clue why i said hbox lol.
He's done one character each month since this series started. At this rate it'll be completed around 2018 :\ (Also a new video should be out any day now. My money's on Peach, since she's the last "viable" character not yet covered.)
Gianluca Tartaro No then no one would play them. And why do you want to ruin a players career? Ice climbers have a bad grab range and wobbling isn’t that OP.
Wobbles is still my favorite ICs, but Nintendude is way sicker than people realize. He has a very streamlined way of thinking, so he prefers optimal punishes, which is wobbling 100% of the time. But his neutral and grab setups are very smart and technical, which n00bs typically fail to understand.
Did you know Eskimo is an Ojibway word that the Ojibway used when referring to the Inuit? It means "blubber eaters". The Ojibway called the Inuit Eskimos because that's what they did, eat blubber. (It can also mean "raw meat eater" depending on the dialect of Ojibway)
Wobbles, hands down. He's the least consistent lately but still has the best Sopo and is the most fun to watch. On his good days he's the most threatening non-Top 6 player in the world, along with Westballz and Plup. And we can't forget his EVO 2013 and Battle of the Five Gods runs.
Hey, I really like your videos, I recently got melee on my gamecube and I'm trying to main with jigglypuff. Are you going to make a How to practice Jigglypuff soon, cause that would be awesome, nice videos thx
How to know if you're an ICs player 1. If you like Piña Coladas 2. And gettin caught in the rain 3. If you aren't into yoga 4. If you have half a brain
Ice Climbers are your main if: - You want to potentially get to top 8 at a national - But you don't want to get to top 3 or GFs - You don't care about scrubs bitching about your "unbeatable" character when they main a top-tier who wins the matchup at least 55:45 - You're some kind of masochist
FINALLY! A fun and interesting character to learn about! Thank you so much for making this video! Also, do a "Are you a Mewtwo Player?" sometime soon! You did the Roy one, so I don't think it's too much to ask, right?
ICS is for you if: -your controller only has working control stick z button and a button -you hate being liked by your friends -like telling people to just not get grabbed and get gud
Can you do a video explaining how Pikachu edgeguards spacies? Similar to the one u did with Marth. Cuz that would be amazing if u did! Also my favorite IC player has to be Wobbles.
You're an Ice Climbers main if:
You want to be a mid level state player from the second you pick up a controller until the day you die.
God this is so true
Nintendude is the pride of his region, and to many respects Wobbles was the same to AZ. ICs is hated beyond anything else and for being such a meh high tier, it doesn't make sense. At least Shiek doesn't have such a learning curve.
*cough* Wobbles. Universally loved, and the pride of Texas.
+Sam Hyden
Wobbles is from Arizona though...
“could have added Ridley or King K Rool” well this video has aged oddly well.
Facts
You are an Ice Climbers player if:
- Your friends hate playing you.
- You most likely troll.
- You pummel a bit too much.
- You wobble in friendlies.
The alpha move is to wobble until %999 while staring your opponent in the eyes
Ha I came from PM so I don't wish to wobble, even when wobbling was legal
How to know if you're an IC's player
1. Do you spout endless memes to everyone you know?
2. Do you want to make no friends in the Smash community?
3. Do you want to run the risk of literally getting your ass kicked mid game?
If you said yes to one of these then you might be an IC's player.
ICs aren't memers
+PerseusisRad chu
+PerseusisRad Have you ever been to the PM Icies Discord?
yeah that's what I thought. Falcon players are le ebin memers
nah but this is for Melee ICs.
Ridley AND KING K ROOL ARE IN SMASH NOW SO GUESS WHAT MCNUGGET
@Gianluca Tartaro gotta love elitism in my children's party games
Gianluca Tartaro smash ultimate is real smash, you anti shower low life fuck face
@Gianluca Tartaro which one?
Gianluca Tartaro the only real smash here is the smashing your mother receives from me
Please do sonic. I've never played him but my friend from middle school said he did.
Underrated comment tbh
Eli M ty
you guys know he's not in melee right?
thatsthejoke.iso
what?! He lied to me?
1:11 Hey I play zelda A lot! But my friends always get mad at me for spamming down b
I personally use it maybe, I don't know, once a match...?
Yeah, I mean its such a good move to use, like why not just use it at the start of a match
It's got a pretty weird property where it goes from being one of the best down b's to one of the worst consecutively, must be a glitch :/
Lucas Mark I know! A staling glitch maybe?
I like that the explanation of how bad SoPo is is accompanied by Fly Amanita making a significant SoPo comeback against Silent Wolf.
"by far, the ice climbers' biggest strength is their unforgivable grab game."
at first, i was sure you meant their "unforgiving" grab game. but on second thought...
You are and ice climbers players if you:
Want to lose friends
Like wobbling
Getting Booed
Or just never want to win a major tournament
ICs never won a major tho no?
@Collin Allan ok scambot
@Muriel Munzer ok other scambot
Wobbles. By far one of the most awesome players to watch. Crazy smart dude.
How to know if you're an Ice Climbers player...
1. Did you take classes in the portables outside the school?
2. Do you know more than 4 digits of pi?
3. Did you take lithium pills this morning?
If you answered 'yes' to any of these, you are probably an Ice Climbers player.
I always called them bungalos, im from socal
it's funny cause almost every ICs except for Chu is a literal genius in some field.
the portables outside my school were for the special ed kids
+jazaniac oh wow what's DJ and wobbles or just based on IQ ?
+Henry Nguyen Nintendude
Wobbles is easily the best ICs, and definitely my favorite. He completely innovated Ice Climbers grab game, and he's gone places and figured out things that no one else has even come close to with this character. Plus his combos and desyncs are godlike.
"the best" IC's? when? of all time? maybe, but certainly not in 2016
Transcedant Only based on results is he not the best, and that's only due to his poor attendance. The only other player to contest the spot is probably Nintendude (going off of results, that is), but just look at Battle of the Five Gods and tell me that isn't proof of Wobbles' dominance.
The ice climbers are your main if you have absolutely no shame
It's easy to tell that he had to search REALLY hard for any reason to main Ice Climbers at the end besides "You need to rely on Wobbling to win"
You forgot the best reason to play Icies, Kira.
The salt.
Yup. Salt

Are you a Mario player?
I'm going to keep asking on every single one of these videos until you give it to me.
I mean it'll happen eventually I promise

0:35 you guys predicted Ridley and King K. Rool in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ! 😱
Dizzkidboogie is definitely my favorite ICs main. He's so creative and fun to watch!
Is it just me or does Fly Amanita look like Nigel Thornberry with long hair?
lolololol
CitrusJelly I play as Zelda and not sheik. I just don’t like playing as shiek for some reason
Wobbles is the only ICs I can watch without wanting to turn off the stream.
This dude predicted ridley AND King K Rool.

+Halaa oh I didn't know that. Thanks for informing me. although I still think he is my favorite
i think only at evo though
He's definitely strong. Ask the hole in the wall.
Veg If it works out well for him then he might just continue wobbling.
Ice Climbers are for you if:
You enjoy OHKOS
You want someone to bash your skull in after a match
You don't enjoy the concept of friends
Do you like your meals with extra CHEESE, if you do, you are an Ice climbers player.

Nintendude: "After playing @ArmadaUGS for hours in both ICs vs. Peach and ICs vs. Fox... I think Fox is actually ICs worst matchup."
Oh look, a video on Ice Climbers. I play that character.
Here's my two cents on ICs -
Power: 3.5/5. Ice Climbers have ruthless smashes and quick hits making them a force to be reckoned with when Nana and Popo are together. I love the Ice climbers. Mainly because of their adorable little faces. They were my main in Brawl. I was really annoyed when they got rid of them for smash 4.

One of the hypest moments of my life was getting to watch that happen live.
Hey, that's my remix! Oh, and I still haven't forgiven you, Kellen
We got roy, samus, and icies before peach? kira pls
This is clearly the work of Conner.
I mean Roy is really the only one of those that doesn't make much sense. The other two are certainly about as viable as Peach is.
What? Samus is mid tier and peach is definitely a step above icies
Huh. I thought Samus was considered high-tier because she's pretty common in competitive play. I guess she's right on the border of the high-tiers.
Peach should definitely be next, though. Unless Kira decides to cover Pikachu instead. Or Luigi. Or Ganondorf. Or Doc.
peach is the only high tier he hasn't covered yet. samus and the rest you mentioned are all high-mid tier to mid tier.
Favorite ICs player is fly amanita. Minimal wobble use, amazing throw game, and his sopo is so hype. Man is the reason i play ICs
"You had the chance to make Ridley a character." Lol
Better late than never I suppose.
"Or King K. Rool a character." LMAO
Noticably missing from this "Are You a _____ Player?" video is the "Ready? ... GO!" after they're introduced and just before you actually start talking about them in-depth.
These are my favorite smash videos! You should do more of these I watch them all the time.
So happy the ice climbers are back in ultimate and they’re still very good characters to play as
I mean obviously it's Fly, he's in a tier of his own since he doesn't wobble (tbh that always bothered me that he would limit himself like that), but wobbles is a close 2nd. The day Fly Aminita starts wobbling will be the day that m2k wins a supermajor, armada doesn't make top 8, hbox switches to falcon and mango shaves his beard.
Armada's forfeit in EGLX doesn't really count.
+Gold well, he didn't make top 8...
Soon....
Shaq Rack He didn't make top 8, but that's not because he lost to players along the way.
BenjiTech out of all the things i said him shaving the beard is probably the one that will actually happen. When i originally said this i said Hax would switch back to falcon i have no clue why i said hbox lol.
Please do these for the rest of the cast. I love these analyses of each character's strengths and weaknesses and overall play styles.
He's stated that he'll do every character eventually
He's done one character each month since this series started. At this rate it'll be completed around 2018 :\
(Also a new video should be out any day now. My money's on Peach, since she's the last "viable" character not yet covered.)
Well it's 2017 now, we gettin closer!
So when are pikachu tech videos or are you a pikachu main video coming out Kira??
You're a ice climber player if...
1. You're pure evil.
That's it.
I'm sorry you can't kill a level 1 AI with no recovery
Diabeto99621 lmao its a joke
Me
I mean I hate wobbling as much as the next guy but God damn do I live for them sick desync plays.
You are an ice climbers player?
You are if you want people to suffer then yes you are
>implying that's not the whole point of melee
Yay! Finally an Ice Climbers videos!
This comment section is just salty ice climbers hate I don't like it because I think they are very unique and cool characters
Lukas H This icomment section is nothing compared to are you a Jigglypuff player.
Gianluca Tartaro No then no one would play them. And why do you want to ruin a players career? Ice climbers have a bad grab range and wobbling isn’t that OP.
do a "are you a Kirby player" I want to see the stats at the end
"Are you a Peach player?" video would be pretty awesome next.

Favorite IC's is Chu. He embodies this character
How I use the Ice Climbers is that I just keep wavedashing and down smashing
My favorite IC's player is Chu Dat because he's Chu Good. YAYUHHZZ
Are you a Doc Main? Brings so much hype and would be amazing of you if you made one next please?
unrelated topic but
what if marth had a projectile
Hey, I really like your videos, I recently got melee on my gamecube and I'm trying to main with jigglypuff. Are you going to make a How to practice Jigglypuff soon, cause that would be awesome, nice videos thx
The Ice Climbers need more love
the "eskimo" duo?
TRIGGERED
I really like the way Nintendude plays ICs
Little do you know, they do add king k rool and Ridley😏
LoL, yesterday i was thinking "that's it, i'm maining ICs." and now this video ^^
Jason made it to notable players. The kid has made it
My dude silent wolf just gets wailed on in so many famous clips
>Didnt Include Admiral in the ICIES mains But they did include Army
How to know if you're an ICs player
1. If you like Piña Coladas
2. And gettin caught in the rain
3. If you aren't into yoga
4. If you have half a brain
Favourite ICs Player is Fly, he's got a cool playstyle and seems to be a chill person too.
Ice Climbers are your main if:
- You want to potentially get to top 8 at a national
- But you don't want to get to top 3 or GFs
- You don't care about scrubs bitching about your "unbeatable" character when they main a top-tier who wins the matchup at least 55:45
- You're some kind of masochist
FINALLY! A fun and interesting character to learn about! Thank you so much for making this video! Also, do a "Are you a Mewtwo Player?" sometime soon! You did the Roy one, so I don't think it's too much to ask, right?
You're an ice climbers main if:
1. You enjoy punching babies
2. You want to feed on the souls of the innocent
question. where on the tier list would the ice climbers be on without wobbling
The intro aged well
Are you an Ice Climbers player?
Me: YUP!
Show some love to our European IC mains Däumling and Tomber! :D
Hands up anybody that shouted out "no" when the ice climbers beat up pichu
''Are you a Luigi player?'' Next PLEASE :D
ICS is for you if:
-your controller only has working control stick z button and a button
-you hate being liked by your friends
-like telling people to just not get grabbed and get gud
Rip nana amd popo, may u be remebered always
Can I see a "Are you a Kirby Player"? Please?!?! I need to see Kirby's overall defense. :)
Wobbles and Fly are both my favourite, does that work?
0:45 idk who's sadder, m2k or pichu from being wobbled
0:36 How did you know
Ice Climbers is a lot of fun to play! They are one of my mains, the other being Ganondorf. I still need to learn how to wobble though
Can you do a video explaining how Pikachu edgeguards spacies? Similar to the one u did with Marth. Cuz that would be amazing if u did! Also my favorite IC player has to be Wobbles.
if you play frendlies with an icies main, and they wobble you, is it still a friendly?
Personally I love Chu Dat. Also I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that you can break your own shield as bait.
Fly Amanita is probably my favorite, but Wobbles is insane
You know a character is stupid if it needs an instant kill to be relevant. Design makes 0 sense.
