Thanks for the information, but I’m asking about the timing of oil pump and the balancing shafts, as I saw there is no need for oil pump timing , it’s only required for the balancing shafts. But according to the video there a possibility to make a mistake of one complete turn when you install the blocking metallic angle am I right?

@Jani when you say replace, wash and oil the bolts - do you mean you need to buy brand new bolts for the oil pump goign back on? Struggling to find them - conrod ones seem fine to get but the oil pump ones less so! One of the torx ones deffo wants replacing as it lost some of its head coming out it was that tight in. And what do you wash them in? WD40? And il with normal engine oil? Thanks - super useful your videos as i've never done this before but getting there. Polishing the cranks at the mo as got a few marks on there - hoping i can save it!

In our case, after a long, fast journey, the oil pressure drops. Warning lamp "red oil can" lights up. Otherwise not.

How long did it take to cure the bedplate loctite sealant? And the oil pump counter balance has to be synced to the timing of the engine right?

    • @JaniVoutilainen
      @JaniVoutilainen  3 года назад +1

I don’t know exactly how long it will take for the liquid seal to cure.
BMW manual tells that; "Balancing shafts must be readjusted after installation of chain tensioner".
Exactly what this means, the BMW repair guide does not tell you.
Before removing the oil pump, I locked the balancing shafts in place with a locking tool and did not remove it until after the new lower chain was tightened.
When the engine is locked in the TDC position during disassembling and also when assembling and the balancing shafts are locked in the original position all the time.
I think the balancing shafts are then in the right position.
At least no problems have come to me in this regard.

Jani please an answer ... I want to open the oil pan to change the gasket to the N43 engine / the 10 mm tubular wrench cannot enter to loosen the screws, there is not enough space there between the oil pan and the gearbox ... you how did you do ?...thanks, I appreciate in advance 😊😜😎

undo the 3 bolts you see on the plate that is blocking your access and you remove cover on the gearbox and can get to them. A bit awkward to get to but I also found this issue.

Jani, please can I ask some quick advice? I want to replace fuel filter on my N43 but I cannot locate it anywhere, have you any idea where it is?
I read on a forum that it is in the actual tank. However, other forums says it's under the car somewhere. Do yu have any advice please?

Ive heard that the n43 doesnt have a fuel filter. Only a mesh in the fuel tank to keep bigger pieces out

Hi! There is no seperate fuel filter in the N43 engine.
The fuel pump in the fuel tank itself has a filter. And if I understand correctly, each fuel injector inside its own small filter also. These filters alone cannot be changed.
Scavenge air line on fuel ventilation system have activated Charcoal Filter (part 16137074464). But that's another thing ...
