That’s a really nice R32. Love it in 3 door with the wingback seats. Nice easy save, well done Dean.👍
I’ve got a 3 door too with the cloth recaro wingbacks 😎 I think they’re a car that look so much better in 3 door vs 5 door.
Gotta love the R32 for so many reasons 😊
Def my boy
32 Reasons😂
I work at a independent vag specialist and on every haldex oil change I removed the pump and clean inside (Just underneath the filter x2 10mm holding it on) so much build up and shit inside all the time
Love the Mk 5 R32 I bought a 3 door manual in deep blue pearl back in 2007 it was a 06 plate with 10k miles paid £16995 for it . Not a fast car but what a lovely sound it made from standard . Great car
Nothing againt using a gun to run the plugs in but id be starting them by hand. Just good basic engineering practice, avoiding the chance of crossed threads.
Result on the gearbox, satisfying when you think there is a major fault and it's something simple..lovely car
I changed the haldex oil on my Mk6 R and had to top the level up after a quick spin letting the 4 wheel drive engage which fills the filter up so worth checking again… I also ended up changing the actual haldex pump as wasn’t engaging the rear wheels quick enough, my light was coming on indicating wheel spin which shouldn’t happen with the 4 wheel drive indicating faulty pump 👍
About the air filter, Had the same issue with a flywheel, Honda wanted £950 for a flywheel with Honda on the box, LUK wanted £550 for the exact same Flywheel just in a LUK box.
I would defenitely buy 2 rear calipers! Bad cost saving in my opinion. When one side fails, you should get the other side done too, cause it will fail too.
Why would the other side fail too? It could fail at anytime. Like anything. It’s lasted 15 years so far so could last another 5 still.
@@SavingSalvageBecause the other side got stuck because of age. They tend to do that when getting old. So the other one will defenitely get stuck too in some time, and because they are not expansive at all for a caliper i would recommend to change them together.
Edit: Will you be doing differential and gearbox oil too?
Love how you found the stripped 6mm filter drain plug (seen that…) and how you’re restoring it and loving the sound of the exhaust! And how had to pull the filter the old fashioned way…and the OEM air filter part comparison…
You can't blame the last person who tightened the wheel bolts up, don't forget the vehicle has been in storage for years and that doesn't help, i regularly work on a Mk5 Golf and i can torque every wheel bolt up to spec and i can guarantee every time i go to undo them they won't crack off with impact gun i have to use a power bar and bounce on the bar to initally loosen them i have even chased the threads on the bolt and used the M14 x 1.5mm tap in the hubs and lubed them up but still every time i have to crack them off manually.
I had the less desirable but equally as fun A3 3.2 Quattro it was so much fun and with an exhaust kit it sounded great which made the Bose sound system work for its money lol.
Lovely V6 sound, I have an Alfa V6 which sounds wonderful too.
This .:R is a keeper! To have 6 Spd & the Wingbacks is the Combo!
Best engine sound.... sound of maserati in family hatchback ...beautiful 😊
Couldn't agree more!
Agreed that sounds great! My own mini resto-project mk4 2.8 v6 4motion is nearly ready to be back on the road to make a similar noise.....can't wait 😁
Are u gonna raffle the r32? 🤞
Keep up the good work
thankyou Dean,im sure this upload will help many with the same issues,
looking forward to the follow up,have a good weekend,,👌👍
Great video and pleased it is just the bracket for gearbox. 👍👍👍👍
On the subject of why main dealers don't change the haldex filter is because they are lazy techs are just constantly working for a bonus. I worked for Steven eagell Toyota and they charge for brake fluid changes but don't actually change them because they say it takes to long
same as mine, black magic 3dr. lovely car.
Good content very worrying that main dealer do not change Haldex filter crap.👎as usually filthy I also remove pump and clean gauze filter as if choked the pump can run dry and burn out.
you don't need to take the wheels off to change the brake fluid just put it up in the air on the ramp and do it from underneath
I know, but I need to address the wheel issue still and it’s easier to change brake fluid with the wheel off
I would do transfer box at front aswell this always gets mist and is 3000 grand from VW so worth doing oil change 😁✌️
The latch does not require replacement. Easy to remove and clean. Just keep eye on the cable when re-fitting.
Looking forward to this one on the raffle. 👍
Looking really nice Dean! The rear wishbones on any Mk5 Golf are a usually an MOT advisory for excessive corrosion. They certainly are on mine. 😮
Yeh, not fast by modern standards. Fast enough for British B roads however :)
Best car channel .....down to earth, Great
Thanks mate 😊
ur welcome@@SavingSalvage
this car is an icon. why did you allow to go down this iconi car to this condition??? i can not undestand it. happy to see to come back this car
Great start for Saturday!
Enjoy!
nice video, and as always informative. I have a tip for the carriage bolt. Loosen the other 4 bolts so there is less tension on the lock bolt . Possibly next time you will get your lock bolt loose this way
Or just Hammer a socket on 👍 17/19mm
Audi wanted £80 to Drill out 1 on my A3 (back in 2013)
2 mins on the Driveway and the Stud was out with Socket and Wrench 🤓🤓
I always tighten the rest🤷♂️, I thought just like when you put a wheel on and you go around and tighten them by the time you get to the last one the first one is slack again and you go around again. So tightening the other should make the one you don't tighten looser. I might be wrong but it worked for me 🤷♂️
Worked in a motor factors for 5 years. All filters are outsourced to companies like Mann/mahle/febi. Spurious parts are literally the exact same
I am so tempted by a R32 or early R. Seeing you bring this one back to spec has got me thinking hard 😊
6 pots trump 4 every day of the week.
Best combo on r32 nice manual box
Surely you would change the gearbox oil as its sat there for four years, I didn't here you say you were going to do it. Just a thought from experience.
Great video, can you post a link to that torque wrench seems a lot easier to set up than many others i have seen,
I love the R32 and have been lucky enough to own a few over the years my personal favourite is blue, manual, none wingbacks i find them uncomfortable on longer journeys i know everyone loves them but im just odd,
Looking forward to tomorrow's draw 🤞
Good luck to all that have entered
Hey Dean, can you tell me where you got your mini torque wrench from please? It looks super handy and intuitive. 👍
Nice video, my rear caliper was leaking but changed both already painted from ECP. I use Mann air and pollen.
Nice work!
I use a very similar torque wrench on my oil filters 😅
Cracking car. Is it going up for raffle? 👀
Yes. Last two times I've gone tyre shop. They broke bolts from ugger duggering them too much.
Says more about your bolts
Love the video keep up the good work are you a mechanic or just love building cars up.
In my experience the reason I didn't buy tickets for the draw is that the website didn't seem to work in any browser, I couldn't click on "buy tickets" or whatever the button said. Assume lots of other people had similar issues.
Could you please tell me what the new part for the gear linkage is and where you bought it? I have the same problem.
What a great vid, loved watching you sort all the problems, car sounds great, top stuff, roll on the next one !!.
Diesel Geeks make fantastic short shift kits for the VAG range.
Regarding the gear linkage, you may find that when you change them, one is longer than the other, hence why he was having issues with first and second. Just a thought. Naz ps. Love your channel.
Top job top car is it going up for raffle ?
Nice car Dean, that rasping sound is spot on. Be a lovely car for someone when its finished 👍
Absolutely
Glad the gearbox was a easy ish fix! I would have been pooping myself 😮. Cheers.
wow thats got to be like the worlds easiest to do pollen filter. also, love the blue on that new caliper
Hey Dean, I really need your help and knowledge on VW.
My dad stranded with his GOLF 6 automatic, after normal drive he stopped to refill the tank and than the car did not start again. In the MFA it showed "Select P or N" which was not possible. Some local guys at the petrol station manually unlocked it by removing a yellow piece undernethe the gear selecor stick. This allowed to select P and/or N but the car still showed "selece P or N to start" and the selected Gear did flash instead of nowmally lighting up. Have you any Idea where this issue can come from and how to fix?
I thought you would have replaced the other caliper on the rear, as that might end up being seized later on.
Great job though dean, look forward to the next.
And the rear discs they looked shot
@@neilcutler8064 Yep i would have imagined dean would replace them.
Hi Dean et al, I hv a 2012 petrol vw beetle 1.4 tsi. 80k on the clock. When started n on idle it doesn't sound as smooth. Its got a rattle sounding like a diesel. What cd it be...? Appreciate ur answers. Happy to send a video how it sounds by email. Thx for all ur help.
Gotta get me one of those human sounding talk wretches Dean , so lifelike amazing 😉 but I guess very expensive and probably only available to you professionals lol 😂
Had an MK4 R32, and I supercharged it. Are you going to modify yours? Or leave it stock? Love the VR6 owned a few
1997 Passat VR6
2001 GTI VR6
And my favorite that I lost to a flood the
2004 R32!
Did the M2 comp pass the MOT ? Gov shows the MOT failed in June?
Hi Dean. I love this R32. Beautiful Caliper and just £70. That's not too bad at all. I'm dying to see what the next car is lol. Christ Dean the Air-filters are mad. There the exact same but different money. Depending where you get them 😅😅 That Car sounds so Happy to have new Spark Plugs. Great job fixing the Gear linkage. I never knew there was a filter under the dash. You always teach me something new bro lol. Wow it now Sounds Mint Dean. Thanks for your hard work bro 😅😅 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
Locking wheel nuts are the devil's work. Best place for them is the bin!
Dean did you forget to remove the transit plug from the battery
Nice work
where you get the brake calliper from thanks
Motor parts direct
Small tip, the hand pump used for the haldex oil can normally screw onto the new oil container. Much cleaner 🙂
Cold Beer in hand, New Saving Salvage video 💪💪🍻🍻 and it's a golf, get the fuck in shout-out from NZ 🇳🇿🇳🇿
I was waiting for the bonnet to fly up 😮.
Awesome car - Love the R32 (Need one!)
Absolutely brilliant job as always Dean, the R32 sounds lovely 👍👍
alright Dean just a question you did take out the red vent plugs when installing the battery ?
was it euro / gsf for the calpiper or vw?
The already painted rear caliper is a score. Does anyone know where this would be from?
What a sound . I'm looking forward to the next video, Dean 👍
Any chance you can give me the part number to that selector piece mate?
Turning into one of my favourite channels.. good man ✊
I appreciate that!
Is the RS3 coming on the channel.?
I love your videos. Especially when you work on cars that are the same as I own. Then I learn a lot about my own car👍🇩🇰
Glad you like them!
after its done is it for sale ???
Pure sound ❤️❤️
looks a really nice car dean....love the sounds
I enjoyed that as usual. not sure I like the 3.2.......................................owning a aygo myself!!
are not changing the brake fluid? Watched on and i note you say you are doing it latter LOL
Are you going to raffle it off aswell ?
Have to admit, A beautiful sounding car.
It really is!
Always fancied an r32😊
Love the torque wrench.
Where can I get one?
Took 15 years to get mine.
@@SavingSalvage 😉
Dean - The genuine air filter is obviously far better quality and more expensive 🤔 It has the Audi /VW stamp on it - That costs a fortune you know 🤷♂🤣🤣🤣Great video, Take care Best wishes Clay.
Yep, VW don't make their own filters - I always use Mann filters - best value.
Nice car !!!! And video is great as always !!
Can I ask where you got your custom number plates? Great branding!
Nice job once again Dean
So Dean, has this car now been finished or is there still work to do? Was hoping we'd see the completion now, but the Nissan is now in the 'shop' ;)
R32 is off to the bodyshop. So it won’t be back for a few weeks
On a side note, what happened to the Skoda Octavia?
That homemade torque wrench is key😂great vid as per, bought some tickets for both cars fingers crossed
Good luck!
Really Good job, and a Nice delicious Car🤤
Will this be for sale or on the competition site?
