Highlights: Brijesh Patel being kissed in front of 50,000+ spectators, Solkar's century, Clive Lloyd's sixes, Vishwanath's square cuts.. - Спорт
What pure era. Lady ran to kiss Brijesh Patel.. hahahahahahaha 😆
Loved watching. Thanks for posting.
We were in the school. In our early teens. Introduced to cricket a year before this series. It was a tragedy for us when India lost the series. But Vishwanath stood like an unconquered hero. Later we came to know how precious his knocks were in that series. Even today I am a fan of Viswanath. A great series which saw India come back after a disastrous tour to England in the summer of 1974. Many would go to the theatres just to watch the news reel showing the highlights of the matches before the movie. Innocent times. Really enjoyed this video. Went on a nostalgic trip.
People who talk about Sachin and Kohli (no doubt legends) forget what a legend Gavaskar was. He was the first to 10K runs. He set the first Indian records on an International level. So he will always remain my best Indian Test batsman ever.
Sachin can be termed legend.no opinion bout kohli though
I do agree no match of him from pskistan
Clive Lloyd who was smashing the balls to the boundaries is the one who handed us the world cup in 2011 on the same ground. What an interesting coincidence!
7:25 Such professional commentary.
It's not commentary. Its a voice-over documentary.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Epic commentary 😂😂😂 And even more epic is that lady running in Saree. 😂😂😂 That’s it. I think I’ve seen it all 😂😂😂
Gavaskar really mastered Roberts inthe first innings. I was there
Nice where r u now sir?
Lloyd smashed and mauled our bowling. An innings of 242 not out to be echoed till 1983.
And u are still here
Playing without helmets, and playing pull shots wow, They all are legends,
🙏🙏👍👍
This is gold...never saw such footage
People looked so classy back then...
People were violent dogs back then
What a troll ...🤣🤣🤣
What sound when ball meets bat classy shots.
I heard the radio commentary. I was 19 years old. What a classic players they were.
Back then in 1975 : Partnerships of WI worth 250
Now : Scores below 250 common for WI
WI team has become bunnies. They were once on the top and today their standard is lower than Bangladesh
@@indianallways5720 stupid comment since WI 3rd team just beat them at home.
The greatest education is watching the master at work.
Saw my Idol Sunny Gavaskar first time on black & white TV during this Wankhede Test !
🙏😍🙏
This was the very first test match at Wankhede Stadium and not Braborne stadium as the title indicates. Also probably the highest test score in an innings at Wankhede till date (604) by Windies. Clive Lloyd made his highest test score in the same innings
Thanks a lot, superb, those days matches used to sound and look like real matches, now a days, i mean for the last 10 years or so interest has only diminished.
Purane dino ki yaad taza kar di, Beybrone stadium khachakhach bhara huwa tha, wakai undino me bhi cricket ka craze tha.
Undino craze aaj se zyada tha.Test match me batsman ke 25 run banne par bhi taliya bajti thi.Radio par Sushil Doshi hi ka Hindi commentary match ko live dekhe jaisa effect deta tha
Brother it's not beybron but wankhede stadium's first match.
Irrespective of era... Cameramen will always finds the beautiful girls from spectators... Job done
Thanks for posting this rare gem
Ironically, two odd decades after this test, Lloyd was witness to another crowd disturbance as a match referee at Eden Gardens. He awarded the match to eventual WC winners of that year, Sri Lanka.
Pure gold and nostalgia for the people born in 40s and 50s. ठुकाई, पिटाई, लड्डू.... priceless.... आज कोई ऐसे commentary करेगा तो he/she'll be banned
And for someone born in 1960
True.
Playing without helmet to these fast bowlers is really courageous.
Thx for the clip Jai!
It is Wankhede stadium. First test match played on this ground & fifth of the 1974-75 India - West Indies series.
6 day test match
Yes it is.
I was at wankhede for 1 day.
I shake hand with chandra shekhar.
I was in grade nine.
इंजीनियर ने इस बार भी लड्डू बनाया 😂
Delightful commentary!
@@hemantsharma637 Absolutely
Priceless vintage!!
Sweep, latecut, hook ....vishy original 360 degree batsman.
Waah kya commentary hai...!!!
Nd hats off to the umpires
These videos are obviously great, but then so are the comments from the Indians and their recollections from this era. Fascinating, and thank you.
Wah chahne walo ka badhai ka anokha andaz...
Pure gole. So many spectators. It shows why cricket is so much loved in india
Waah ... uss time ka Bombay vs aaj ka Mumbai ... time travel machine aa jaaye bas ...
Another brilliant upload keep it up
Our game teacher predicted that in the last test WI will show Indian bowlers their place. We did not believe him.rest is history
What memories!!!
I was there the day the trouble broke out. I was still in school and 13 years old. Trouble broke out when a fan ran up to Lloyd to congratulate him and a police constable hit him with the baton.
Our middle order batting was weak. We were dependent on Gavaskar and Vishwanath. Our cricket improved after Kapil Dev
Nice commentators what are those days maza a gya
Natural commentary.
Remember watchin live on TV...clive Llyod 242 not out and crowd set the stand on fire ..
During this match, there were two special moments:
1) Vanburn Holder's wicket of Vishwanath in the second innings and
2) A beauty of late cut played by Gavaskar in first innings.
The first one is shown very fleetingly. I wish slow motion was shown. The second is not shown
Look at the way Umpires r closely watching per ball bending kneess 😄😂
Engineer had style without substance. He walked away in style after making a zero!
Only saving grace were Gavaskar, Vishwanath with Solkar making a maiden (and the only) century in test cricket.
Heard a loose pad buckle contributed to his dismissal to Julien in the second innings
First time listening cricket commentry was reading in school great memories
Superb💞
Awesome
Thanx for sharing such a nice video. This match was played at Wankhede Stadium, incidentally it was first match played at Wankhede Stadium
Which year...
True
Thanks Pankaj! I corrected the stadium played to Wankhede
Why there is a galatta in the stadium ...
Those days real lovers of the game
Kamal ki commentary hai.
I have seen this match in 1975. I was in class 5th. After this match Pataudi realised that India needs pace bowler.
Incidentally, this was the debut series for few of windies greatest players Viz V. Richards, Gordon Greenidge and A. Roberts. Greenidge scored century in both innings of his debut test match which was also the first test match at Bangalore
Correction (1) Greenidge did not get a century in both innings at Bangalore 93 run out and 107 there (2) Roberts had already debuted against England in West Indies in March 1974
@@shreerangmulye3430 you are right. I regret the slip in my memory. It's been more than 40 years. However, I am not totally out of mark in both the above cases.
@@shreerangmulye3430very correct
Did we stump mics, how are we able to hear the sound of bat hitting the ball?
Pure gold first ever test at wankhede
I was in S.S.C . And i was at wankhede. Those days very easy to talk with the players who field near boundary line. I meat Chandra Shekhar.
Richard's ne v Lloyd k jaane k baat khub thukaai ki 7:06😂
I remember this match
Old is gold
Crowd looked classy
Commentry is like God🙏🙏🙏
This was the 1st test match played @ Wankhede stadium. Not held @ Brabourne stadium.
Language of commentary then was natural and untarnished. 'Thokai ki' was taken at face value, and not in the sexualised vulgarity that it is perceived today. 'Laddu banaya' would be seen as unsophisticated and backward today, but it was natural and told as it was.
Television, money, star imagery of players have increased quality of coverage. Commentary on the other hand, have become more stylised, but not necessarily always better. Commentary used to be commentary, not a purposeless gossipzone that can be seen on many occasions today. And there is no quality control. The ordinary cricket fans have to suffer the utter mindlessness of the bullshit of Sanjay Manjrekar imposed on them.
Laddu banaya, thukai ki, Ukhad diya, 😂
7:25 Engineer ne is baar bhi laddu banaya! 10:13 Pataudi ka bhalla phir thand! Non-veg jokes!
Memories
Very rare video
Surprised and shocked one lady with a black sareee ran into to the ground and kissed the batsman.
Lol😂
u have west indies 1983 - marshall knocking bat off gavaskar hand plus gavaskar 200 ?
Please load the Madras test in which India won and Visvanath scored 97 not out an innings of his career
Dear Abdullah, I am trying heaven and earth. Will loose no time in uploading once I get.
Dear Rambhai, please note that Roberts had made his debut against England sometimes in 1973,Greenidge had scored 107 and 93 in Bangalore test of this series
Roberts made his debut against England at Bridgetown early in 1974.
Did anyone noticed how umpire is standing
Yes hilarious
Nothing hilarious. Pitches back then used to be uncovered and no ball rules were different. Umpires had to slouch to gauge the bounce and watch the bowlers foot. Men played cricket back then not protected mercenaries like today .
@@celestialspartan7977 : The no ball rule changed in 1962, so the front foot rule was very much in place when this test match was played
It was a common practice in the old days for umpires to get their eyeline level with the stumps so that they could judge the bounce more accurately. The practice stopped sometime in the 70s I believe
😁😁😁
How crucial was Gavaskar's wicket fag end of play on Day 3?
Had we gone into rest day with loss of only Engineer's wicket with both Solkar and Gavaskar unbeaten the match on Day 4 would have probably taken a different course. Lloyd too had said same.
Actress Saritha can be seen in this video I guess
Where ?
They literally toyed indian bowling .. Gibbs looked a serious off spinner
Wow...I was told that Lloyds sixes would flow out of Brabourne on the main road.
Not really. First this was'nt the Brabourne Stadium but Wankhede stadium staging its first Test. There was a prize for the batsman hitting the ball out of the ground but though Lloyd clubbed quite a few sixes , none went out of the ground
Laddu looks funny as well as cute 😂☺️
is it possible if you can upload highlights Pak tour of india 1979 test series
Salute Mr.Gavaskar sir.
If you please upload ind vs eng 1976 test series
I have seen this match in 1974. I was in class v. We suffered because lack of fast bowler. Those days we were dependent on spinners and that is why we lost.
We depended on pitches to let the ball turn. Spinbers can spin anywhere. Our spinners were rusty and selectors were afrsid of trying new talent. They had recalled pataudi to save grace.
@@1958pra
I agree but we didn’t have fast bowlers those days. Only Abid Ali was medium fast bowler. We were dependent on Solkar who was not regular fast bowler. Our cricket improved when Kapil Dev came. Actually we should have removed all spinners after England series in 1974 but it was very difficult. Even Pataudi told that team needs pace bowler. Today we win outside India just we have fast bowlers
No denying.
The same Pataudi did not try hard to bring any fast bowlers. Fanatic of spin bowling. He tried bringing Govindraj and Guha....but for one or two seasons only. Kapil, overruled everyone. In the north he could find more until academy in Chennai started producing under Lillee's tutelage.
Fast bowlers hv short life. Both Delhi and Mumbai Ranji teams had one or two fast bowlers....but Pataudi, selectors, later on even Wadekar did not encourage anyone. Salgaokar, Hattea, Rege...were there May not be of international standard. We were miserable until we were forced to change against Pakistan. Kapil was born.
At that time we also had Ghavri, Madanlal. None of them were express fast, but Abid Ali had already gone.
@@hareshmehta1772 In 1974 England tour Abid Ali was there in Wadekar team and Madan Lal just joined. Ghavri came in West Indies series in Calcutta test. Ghavri replaced Abid Ali.
I saw Highlights of India Vs Pakistan test matches highlights of 1982/83 series in Moti Talkies of Surat. We defeated Pak badly in that series.Pak team captain was Asif Iqbal.Performance of Kapil Dev was superb in that series.
That was in 1978 not 1982. We did not play any match with Pakistan in 1982 in India. But we visited Pakistan (captained by Imran Khan) towards the end of 1982 and we lost 0-3
Yes
But d series he is talking of Asif Iqbal was in 1979/80 series which India won ..Asif Iqbal played his last match run out .ironic..bcose he was lightining fast running between d wickets

Who is commentator
The match was played at Inaugural wankhede stadium not Brabourne be stadium
corrected
IPL and other league has ruined the charm of International cricket.
100% True
Who can forget solkars standing very near the batsman and flicking catches...
If only Bedi had held on to that caught and bowled of Lloyd when he was on only 8. Still remember Gavaskar using his feet beautifully to Gibbs and Barrett.
2019
Somehow "Greenidge thokne ke mood me" didn't sound right.
Mumbai women were modern also in those days.
Helmet illade aata .chandra.prasanna.bedi.venkat .great spinnars.
The audio quality those days was so poor that the bat used to sound like a stick. If you close your eyes and listen it sounds lie Gilli danda 😂😂
See the Umpire's reaction😇😇
Sound of bat is dubbed or edited for sure....even commentry i guess..
Clive Loyd is daddy cool!!
Why the fight has erupted
In front of the West Indies team, Indian team then looked like a school team!
"...peetna jaari raha. Lloyd ke jane ke baad bhi Richards ney khoob thukai kee"!
Not really. India gave the West Indies a pasting in the second and third Tests of the series
Umpires were squatting all the time... OMG... It was a tougher job than playing

9:11 - If it had happened now, that would be a viral video. Tanmay and Yashraj would have made money out of that.
Glad those were simple days.
1:19 - Dropped catch, batsman goes on to double century. So this is India's story since many decades upto now!
