i saw it on TV, probably the first ever test match telecast live, as a 10th standard student at nearby St Xavier's High School. They gave us holiday for 5 days, since it was the first ever test here; and while few of us could afford a ticket, we could watch it on black and white TV set specially borrowed for the purpose and kept in a school room. I was one of the students who paid the fee of Rs 5 which was for all 5 days. Still remember the excitement of actually watching a match rather than listen to commentary, even though the set was pitch black. Other than the joy of watching the West Indies fast bowlers, I remember Richards' stunning catch, which the commentator here rightly described as one of the best; he dived, pushed up the ball, and caught it. Somehow the telecast showed it better than here.

6 weeks ago, I went to see the Karnataka - Rajasthan quarterfinal at the Chinnaswamy. It was my first visit and all the while I was thinking of the very first test played here - and Greenidge's knocks of 93 and 107. Well, who would have thought I'd be watching highlights of the match in another 40 days?!?!? Thanks a million, Mr.Jai :-)
Thanks for uploading! I was lucky to have watched the Madras test in Chepauk (GRV 97 not out). That series was remembered as Vishy Vs WI series. Nice to see Sivaji Ganesan in this video!
It was nice seeing the start of this great series of 74-75. It’s amazing to see pure cricket being played in true sportsmanship with no theatrics when a person I.S. caught or there I.S. a LBW decision. The camera angles were diabolical and missed most of the important moments. Much later the Aussies showed us what true cricket telecast looks like when we had the privilege to see the World Championship series in 84 😊

Very nostalgic to see the old cricket. GR Visvanath - the master of square cut , EAS Prasanna's googly, Chandra's swing, and the class Clive Lloyd, and hammering Gordon Greenidge! All thru this video, I can see one thing. West Indies were attacking batsmen, but Indians never attached, but defended and lost! Wish someone like K Srikanth was there in Indian team before, just hammer from the first ball, then you can see result! Richards is clueless with Chandra & was totally scared of him! Andy Roberts, Holder - the pace fearsome, but one thing to appreciate is indian batsmen never had helmet, and had so much courage to face the pace! That was the time when resources, money were all limited, and it is survival. These golden era can never come back! Thanks for sharing this lovely video! I am happy recalling my school days with AIR commentary!
