Orchid Spotlight-Prosthechea mariae

This Orchid Spotlight video highlights a Mexican species--Prosthechea mariae. Commonly known as Encyclia mariae. IOSPE confirms that this plant is a warm to cool grower. We currently have this potted in shredded tree fern and growing in South Central Florida climate. We do not bring this plant inside during the winter time. However, during the hot summer months, we bring it inside the house and under grow lights.

Hey Tristan,
you guys are outdoing yourselves with every video which is why I'm glad I have recommended your channel on several occasions already. It's all about providing the right care and you guys clearly know what your plants like. This mariae looks phenomenal.
I personally don't think the cooler temperatures are what is important for many orchids. Cooler growing orchids that grow in cooler regions can sometimes tolerate higher temperatures like vanda falcata's but generally the important thing for me is avoiding extreme hot temperatures.
You say you think the cool down is important but then you cannot even provide that and get such results. And you say you take it inside during the hottest months to avoid extreme hot conditions which is what I believe is the important aspect.
Even for phalaenopsis, I don't know ifyou follow orchids world and more, she just posted a guide by glen gary talking at Palmer Orchids, he says phals are triggered to produce spikes once the seasons change in autumn. The reduction in light hours (and a reduction in temperatures) causes the phals to spike.
I know the light change triggers the phals in autumn. I believe the temperature change only emcourages uniform flowering. So it has a benefit but I have managed to flower so many phals with no temperature change also by now that I am sure the temperature change is way overrated.
Why would it be any different for the cattleyas or any dendrobium too? I have seen the results of like dendrobium aggregatum grown in their natural conditions and the same grown in florida conditions. Florida conditions results in the best results from what I have seen.
So to me the trick is avoiding the heat if they are cool growers and I keep saying (which nobody believes) that the cool down in winter is overrated and not even important.
