Just wanted to say that thanks to your video and others, encouraged me to get a Comma 3 installed. I'm not a handyman by any means but installation and setup was a lot easier than I thought. If you know how to install dashcam camera and basic flash phone image, you're good to go.

Thanks for uploading this Bryan. I've been somewhat frustrated in the starting delay from the lights, but I had also noticed that the Toyota native system has the same delay - I hadn't realised that OP is 'gated' by the Toyota system as you say here - but makes sense now. I have noticed, however, that if you accelerate and disengage OP, you can hit RES even while getting up to speed with your foot on the accelerator and OP engages fine and you can release your foot - just a little something I found out in the last week driving around Brisbane.
Tilting my head (clockwise about 20 degrees) will block light transmission from the Comma Three. What was said from Con Day, may have not been accurate or said with a different context perhaps? Either way I am just happy that I can finally see the screen when my head is looking straight ahead which is 99% of the time. Cheers! Are you using a Comma Three? What car are you using it with? I have not. I am also on Stock Additions (SA-Master) which is on v0.8.9 and it still exhibits the lack of follow arrow for cut ins. I have seen it flicker on the screen a few times but more or less not there.
Do you have the smart cruise control? I have a 2022 Hyundai Elantra with LKA and Center assist. But not SCC. Am I still able to use the comma 3? It doesn’t give me a choice for the 2022 but I’m sure it’s the same

It would definitely negatively affect it in at night. The system is primarily a vision based one, and any compromise to visual clarity would not be helping it. Also, the device is mounted to the glass directly and I don’t know if I would trust to stick something on a tint. Having said that, I remember others have used their Comma device with tints; check out the Discord if you want to get in contact with them. Safe travels!

My car does have OP Long and worked with Navigate on OPENpilot... but my Comma Three is dead now, so I am just using the stock system. I can't afford to buy a new unit atm.
@@jacobbrooks5615 no idea, but I may take it apart and record the process; my guess is the USB port. Even though USBC is good for 10,000 cycles ,or whatever, those figures are for ideal conditions and from the wear pattern I’ve seen on the cable jacket makes me believe that the interface is substandard. All caused by rubbing from the heatsink.
2022 Rav4 is met with supply chain issues and new parts were put in, that are causing issues with OpenPilot: github.com/commaai/openpilot/discussions/23611 You can choose to sit tight and wait for a fix (chance of never too) or return your Comma unit. Really sorry to hear.
I am going to try my best to answer with what keywords I see you wrote: I always try to perform a correct lane change [i. signal ii. check mirrors iii. shoulder check iv. change lanes] when using the Lane Change Assist (LCA) so I have not tested what happens if I cut someone off when they are in my blind spot. In some forks, an audible warning and/or cancellation of LCA will occur when my Blind Spot Monitoring is triggered though. I really hope that helps with your question, and I apologize if I did not understand.
Are you talking about the device or the software? Hardware wise, I have not run into issues, but I run my defrost AC all the time and take my unit down every time I park (annoying, I know); but this keeps the device cool, and hopefully keeps my device alive longer so that it doesn’t end up with the same failure rates as Comma Two. Software wise, they are just chipping away at it slowly with minor improvements. I just hope their efforts aren’t being diluted or being steered toward Comma Body… that will be sad. Do you own a Comma or other OpenPilot compatible device already?

You can interrupt (stock)OpenPilot by actuating the gas or break pedals, pressing the “cancel/cruise buttons. For my car, OpenPilot has control of steering and gas/brakes. OpenPilot is not disrupted by the driver turning the wheel (e2e long is still not perfect) and in future versions of OpenPilot, Comma has finally listened to its customers by allowing the gas pedal to be actuated without disabling OpenPilot.

OpenPilot will not engage if there is no driver or the driver is not looking at the road. I should have been more clear. My car has Blind Spot Monitoring in the form of radar units that face to the side and rear. When BSM is triggered, the message is sent through CANBUS (Control Area Network) and OpenPilot can read that message and that’s why the warning is seen and heard on the unit. I am not sure if previous versions of OpenPilot did that. Rear facing cameras are only used for Driver Monitoring at this time. There has been mention of using the DM camera to help with lane changes, but I cannot speak to how effective that will honestly be, considering the model would then have to accommodate for the varied cars that can be used with OpenPilot. Can’t wait to find out!

lol thanks for watching either way, but I believe my camera was hat-mounted and stabilization was off to get as wide FOV (vertical and horizontal,, hence the squarish aspect ratio) as possible. It should not void warranty, but it's best not to even let Toyota or your insurance know you are using the device since both can easily place blame on you in case of any accident or issue - the device draws power from the stock safety sense camera, and also has some communication (reading firmware from ECU) from the OBD port; so it is connected to vital parts of the car electronically. If you have a 2019-2021 Rav4, have $2k for play money, and understand that this is hobby/dev-kit and NOT a product that is stable or reliable, then go for it! Otherwise, if you are only concerned with highway driving with well marked roads, TSS2 is more than enough for that.

Thinking about getting a coma 3 for my 2021 Corolla SE... Been using a Gatorade bottle as open pilot... Been working pretty damn well lol

Venza is not compatible with OpenPilot.
Did you find out that the comm3 will stop to change the lane if it will be traffic in the lane you are willing to go? I am getting the Toyota limited.
