Awesome song! Wilson Phillips is an American pop group formed in Los Angeles in 1989. The group consists of Carnie and Wendy Wilson, the daughters of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, and Chynna Phillips, the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas.
Chynna Phillips is also the sister of Mackenzie Phillips, of the show One Day at a Time, with Bonnie Franklin and Valerie Bertinelli, who married guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
@@chriso6719 There's also Bijou Phillips, another of John's daughters, half sister to both MacKenzie and Chynna. She was one of the Band Aids in the movie Almost Famous and is married to Danny Masterson.
That is Awesome to hear. Such deep and meaningful lyrics. I'm sure they helped a lot of people to just hold on for one more day. Hope you're doing ok now 👍
Chynna Phillips (blonde with short hair) is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips from The Mamas and The Papas. Carnie (brunette with short hair) and Wendy (with curly hair) Wilson are the daughters of Brian Wilson (the genius) from The Beach Boys
as well as an abusive relationship she wanted to break up but kept going back until she finally didn't she has a you tube channel. it's pretty cool she also sings Christiam music 🎶
The lead singer is Chynna Phillips, her parents are John and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas. The other two are Carnie Wilson, the one with the dark shorter red hair, and Wendy Wilson with the long red hair whose father is Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys.
@@taoist32 Stephen seems like a good guy. Sharon stone said Billy was a major creep, but if he has been able to stay married with Chynna and raise a family with her he must have left that behind him. Alec though... like I said my condolences to her. Hopefully family gathering with him are few and far between.
I'm glad you're still here. Thank you for this inspiration today to keep going. God bless you. I hope you're still doing good. Wishing you continued happiness.
This song was EVERYWHERE. Played no less than once an hour on MTV. I always forget the younguns haven’t heard stuff like this. Well written and well performed, can’t argue with success.
When my oldest daughter was 16(1990), she was going through some things that she had brought on herself. I played this song for her and told her to REALLY listen to the lyrics. It kind of became her anthem after that. I love these ladies, they are awesome.
I am the mother of 3 daughters, and my baby is 16 right now.The teen years can be tough, and I always loved connecting with my daughters through a song,a scripture,a movie,a poem.Even though 30 years has passed,I bet you still remember the time she struggled, and it feels like yesterday.Hope she is well now. Please pray for me as I raise my last teenage girl. Thanks!😊
#22aDay - this song is almost an anthem for PTSD veterans. 22 veterans commit suicide each day, but we tell each other to just try to hold on for one more day. I'm one of them, and I live my life just holding on for one more day. Thanks for doing this.
You have to remember or see "Bridesmaids" because this song is pivotal-! They have an amazing tone and harmonies! Both sisters, the red head and short black hair are daughters of Brian Wilson and Chyna , the blonde, the daughter of Michelle Phillips and John Phillips. Her sister is MacKenzie Phillips from "one day at a time". Chyna is a big Christian and married to a Baldwin brother and has a youtube channel. God bless you and hope EVERYONE IS THANKFUL TODAY TO SMILE, EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
Chyna is a faux Christian. She cries and complains about her life throughout every video yet never actually offers thanks to GOD for her many true blessings. She's a pretender who shouts "peace of Christ" at every person she passes, but is not at peace with anything.
Flashback- my daughter saved her money, bought their cd, came home and had the entire CD memorized before bedtime. She listened to this nonstop for ages💖💖💖
One of my favorite songs. As a very young 20-year-old working in a record store at the time this song was released, on first listen I turned to my manager and said, "You had better order many more copies of this song. THIS is a hit." Boy, I was right, we couldn't keep it in stock.
OMG, I absolutely love this whole album by Wilson Phillips! Chynna Phillips is the blonde. She's married to actor William Baldwin, one of Alec Baldwin's younger brothers. She was a contestant on 'Dancing With the Stars" about 10 years ago. Really down to earth gal with a great sense of humor. Carnie Wilson has had her own talk show and wrote a book about her experience going through gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. Extremely outgoing personality. I don't know much about her sister Wendy. The three of them together have to most beautiful harmonies. You should also check out there songs "Your In Love" and "Daniel," which is a cover of an Elton John song but became a big pop hit for the group. Cheers!
I feel like I remember people in the media being sooooo mean to Carnie. They came on the scene right when supermodels like Kate Moss were becoming big in the fashion industry and, while “heroin chic” hadn’t come into its full 90s reign yet, women who were not a standard size, especially over a size 6, were considered fair game for ridicule. She was constantly compared to her band mates and regardless of her talent, written off because of her weight. Each of those women speaks of how they turned to some sort of self-destructive habit to cope with a messy childhood, but because Wendy and Chynna’s vices didn’t affect their physical appearance, theirs were more socially accepted. Carnie, on the other hand, was demonized for disordered eating habits. She ended up having two(!) weight loss surgeries in the 00’s. She’s been married to the same man since the 90s and has a beautiful family, but I still feel badly for what she had to deal with.
At least they didnt just replace her with a skinny bad singer (cases like Martha Wash, etc)… I just didnt understand why she had to be dressed in such an awful way… so I never understood that the stylist or whoever made things worse for her image. Also, I dont know til Today why she never got any lead…
Chynna Phillips has a RUclips channel, she does interviews and other stuff. She did an interview the other day with Owen Elliot, Mama Cass's daughter, they have been friends forever, so it was really interesting, a lot of background stuff of their parents.
Carnie Wilson (the one in the video with short dark hair) hosted a short lived daytime TV show 1995-1996 similar to Oprah's She was so much fun to watch. Her high energy coupled with her empathy and compassion made for compelling TV
This was for sure one of those songs that everybody sang along to, even if they were not into that style of music! I remember being in a heavy metal bar and the DJ put it on as a joke. He was going to switch it to a metal song, but stopped cause so many people actually sang along with it! LOL
And with Christmas coming up, they've got an absolute gem in "Hey, Santa" although it's technically just the Wilson sisters doing it. It's a cute, fun song.
This song was such a huge hit and was used to address issues of depression and suicide as well. Such a great tune and it takes me back to my youth and all the horror of the 1980's 1990 AIDS pandemic. "hold on for one more day" was so hard and this song made it just that little bit easier
These girls were born to rock royalty. They didn't coast on their heritage; they actually had talent and worked to get their music out there. Good for them.
I’m so proud to see everyone described Carnie Wilson as the short haired brunette instead of another bodily feature that just a few short years ago would have been her description. We, especially us men, are starting to get it. Way to go guys. And I’m a football coach. Go figure.
Yes! One of the things that has changed for the better. I remember one of the late night comedy skit shows, probably SNL, did a parody of this video and they had it where they needed a crane to lift her off the rock, and then after the other 2 girls scampered off the beach to go strut on the boardwalk Carnie couldn't get herself up and the crew was trying to lift her. Really cringy and mean stuff looking back at it.
This anthem got me through some very difficult times because I listened to it over and over to gain strength. It gave me hope, faith and the ability to keep going because I could make it through. I did make it, of course, but I may have not found myself able to do it. I love hearing today because it still makes me feel the power these words give me. Love this, thank you so much.
As far as Wilson Phillips songs, for your next reaction to them you should listen to "Impulsive" where Wendy sings lead or "The Dream Is Still Alive" where Carnie sings lead. Of course "Release Me" or "You're in Love" would be good choices too, but with the first two I mentioned, you'd be able to hear the others sing lead since Chynna sung lead on this one.
More than once, I've heard that there are people who were contemplating suicide but decided to literally "hold on for one more day" because this song gave them enough hope to do just that. 💟
I love these young ladies, just like I loved the groups that their parents were in back in the 60's. Chynna Phillips, the blond and Wendy and Carnie Wilson started their group back in the late 80's with this song being released in 1990 I believe. So we're talking a little over 30 years ago. These young ladies, I'm 68, are all in their 50's in age with Chynna and Carnie at 53 years of age and Wendy at 52 years old. Also they're all mothers with Carnie having two children, Chynna having three children and Wendy having four children. Wilson Phillips will take time off and then come back together for awhile and everyone is really happy when they do. They are all excellent singers and on stage have done not only their on music but some of the songs from their parents as well. They are one of those groups that you want to hear again and again. Good job guys. Keep it up.
I see that you’ve already had plenty of helpful members identify the girls. I loved them and when they got back together about 10 years they did a tribute album performing their parents music. Brian Wilson, Michelle Phillips & other family members were involved with the recording. Worth a listen.
omg, i love them, the harmonies, i always like to think that they got that from their parents, because, both Mamas and the papas and the beach boys used them in their music. i enjoy this kind of thing very much and i is nice to think you can carry it to the next generation, like you are doing now. i hope you can react to the cranberries. i know that you tried with zombie but the song got blocked, but maybe try again with "linger" i t is a beautiful song by them
This song is currently the last song of my Strength & Encouragement playlist on RUclips. This is a great song to listen to when you’re down. It helps you to feel better and gives you hope for another day.
Haha I have forgotten all about this song. I love it. I love it I love it I love it. I was going to suggest that you react to it just now watching your heart never reaction, but it turns out you already did almost a year ago haha ♥️♥️🙏✌️
Wilson Phillips has some incredible music! Gosh! I needed to hear this one tonight! “Eyes Like Twins”, “Impulsive”, “Release Me” are just a few of their great songs.
I remember hearing this song in 1990, also Basia's Reward, Lauren Wood's Fallen, and again Wilson Phillip's Impulsive. I was 16 years old in High School and was feeling this warm cozy feeling because of this song from the uncertainty of my life at the time and coping with a new era in my life. Life is so short this feels like such a short time ago I can't believe it was 32 years ago. How can it be? This is ridiculous!!!! Life is way too short it's scary. I just feel like I never know what time I'm actually living in because the years they go so fast I can't keep up.
Carnie is my fav. of the three. I love her alto voice. The girls were recording in the Wilson home when Brian Wilson came by and said, wow, who is that? That sounds great. lol
Oh MAN! Listening to Wilson Philips with my cousin is how we learned how to sing together when we were children. We still sing together 30 years later. Love this song!
I was instantly in love with these ladies when this song dropped. Such beautiful vocals on such a meaningful song. This was such a great introduction to one of the best vocal bands ever. Thank you for reacting to this one. Be Safe and Be Blessed.
Their harmonies are special. Aside from the other big songs they've had you should also treat your ears to their version of Silent Night this holiday season. One of my favorite versions ever because of their beautiful harmony.
This song was what got me through some dark times as a young teen.. the breaking of my family, transitioning to a new school where I didn't speak the language.. it still holds a special place in my heart!
This song chased me across half of the country when I moved to college in 1990 - for almost 1000 miles, every time I got out of range of my current radio station and found another one, this song was played within 15 minutes. Over and over. It’s absolutely the theme song of that trip.
Great reaction. And...Goodness. So many memories of me sitting in my teenage bedroom, listening, and singing along, to this amazing song in, I wanna say, early 1991 (I can't remember, it's been too many years) and many more years down the line. Nonetheless, it's been an all-time favorite pretty much ever since I heard it for the first time. Great voices from them all and, yes, that killer drum beat-drop is the best too.
This group was EVERYTHING when I was growing up!!! I’m surprised you guys didn’t recognize it from being in movies. More Wilson Phillips reactions guys!!
In my head I'm thinking I'm the same age as you guys LOL but I first heard this song on the radio when I was a teen & their voices, their harmonies, the melody, the drums, the guitars, and their message totally mesmerised me. Thank you for making me relive that moment through your reactions. I'm feeling you feel the joy that I felt that day.
Great reaction to such a great song. They were really underrated. Other of their songs worth listening to RELEASE ME YOU'RE IN LOVE IMPULSIVE THE DREAM IS STILL ALIVE and for Christmastime reactions the Wilson Sisters Carny and Wendy sing HEY SANTA. Carny Wilson hosted her tv talk show in 1995-96
Thank you SO much for playing the tune!! I see folks have ID'ed the ladies for you below. So nice to see you digging the sound, Amber. And Jay hit it out the park: A women power band! I'm sure things haven't changed that much in that, if a guy saw three ladies walking like that down the boardwalk, well, what a "Whoa! Oh my! Look at that!" moment! Carnie has the lullaby cd, and the Beach Boys did a great song called "Wendy" you should check out. Not sure what happened first - the song or Wendy being born. Thanks again!
Chynna (pronounced “China”) Phillips is the daughter of Michelle and John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papa’s. She the short haired blonde. The other two are Carnie and Wendy Wilson, daughters of Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys.
Sometimes I feel like you two can see all the cassette singles i have in storage that I loved so much - so fun to re-visit these old favorites with fresh ears!
Oh yeah, I swear couldn't click this video fast enough LOL I've loved these girls for years and I'm SUPER excited to watch you dive into them more. More songs to check out that I love include You won't see me cry, Release me, You're in love, Impulsive, The dream is still alive
I would like to request Reba McEntire's song Is There Life Out There for the next female Friday. The song is so incredibly inspirational. Amber - it's a real woman's anthem - you'll LOVE it. The official video is a MUST to get the whole story of the song. It even has a cameo by the fantastic Huey Lewis as her husband.
I still love this song I remember back in the day I'd have to listen to the radio wait for it to come on and hurry up and record it on a blank tape lol. Love your videos I always go back to the pina colada video because your reactions were hilarious.
You've done Dolly You've done Linda Now you are ready for the other member of the Trio, Emmylou Harris. I recommend Poncho and Lefty as a start. (Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris recorded a couple of albums together as the Trio.)

A must for you guys. Paul Rodgers - simple man “live” some say he has greatest male rock voice he can sing 5-6 octaves. It’s crazy how good his voice is. Don’t confuse this with lynyrd skynyrd simple man different song. Paul Rodgers is the GOAT
Two of them are the daughters of Brian Wilson the leader of The Beach Boys and one is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas. There’s three people singing.
Such a lovely upbeat encouraging song! Really miss those great '80s tunes sometimes. Even the "one hit wonders" back then were super talented and often had more than one hit.
Have heard this song saved some people's lives when they were thinking about committing suicide so good on that. Chynna (blonde) is also married to a Baldwin brother, William and she is the daughter of the Phillips'. Yes, they have a great blend...Wendy is the longer haired brunet/redhead and Carnie is the shorter straight hair. I also think some of the fame and stress got to Carnie during all of this also but yeah, they have a great blend.
This song has gotten me through so many painful moments. It came out when the first love of my life dumped me and I was destroyed. Chyna Phillips is John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas (she’s the blonde) - IRL she married William Baldwin (Alec Baldwin’s brother) and the other two are Brian Wilson’s daughters, Carnie and Wendy. Wendy has the long hair.
This song saved so many lives. It was such a gift to the world at a time when so many people were feeling lost and confused by the changes going on in society. It worked because it not only identified the issue, but suggested a way to get past it.
I heard one interview from them when this first came out, where they got lots of letters from young women who were contemplating suicide and changed their minds after hearing this.

They are all excellent singers and on stage have done not only their on music but some of the songs from their parents as well. They are one of those groups that you want to hear again and again. Good job guys. Keep it up.
me 2 carnie is so hot hehe
Extremely underappreciated group. Love their music. Release Me is beautiful.
Love this song!! Tells people don't do yourself in, tomorrow is another day.
I see that you’ve already had plenty of helpful members identify the girls. I loved them and when they got back together about 10 years they did a tribute album performing their parents music. Brian Wilson, Michelle Phillips & other family members were involved with the recording. Worth a listen.
Imagine being children of one of the Beach Boys and 2 members of the Mamas and the Papas. What a trio of talent.Great. singers.
Y'all won't believe this...I have been listening to them for the past few days!!! I'm 65....
I’m so glad you guys did this one! This song hits harder at 50 than it did it 17.
Amazing voices and great memories listening to them. I'm still hoping to see y'all react to Bread. Keep them great songs coming.
What a beautiful song. Their harmonies are so on the mark. Next to react to by them should be "You're In Love".
omg, i love them, the harmonies, i always like to think that they got that from their parents, because, both Mamas and the papas and the beach boys used them in their music. i enjoy this kind of thing very much and i is nice to think you can carry it to the next generation, like you are doing now. i hope you can react to the cranberries. i know that you tried with zombie but the song got blocked, but maybe try again with "linger" i t is a beautiful song by them
Oh yes! Your 80s/90s are taking me back. So happy you approve of the music my generation liked. ❤
I've always loved this song. It's saved my life more than once.
Do you know how happy and lucky when i was a teen hearing 70,80,90 songs? it has a soul in it!!!!
Right now, their Christmas song, "Hey Santa" is being played regularly on my local radio station.
Wilson Phillips has some incredible music! Gosh! I needed to hear this one tonight!
“Eyes Like Twins”, “Impulsive”, “Release Me” are just a few of their great songs.
Their songs are living treasures. . . Please include "Daniel" and "Your'e in love"
Wow. Haven't heard this in years. Still a beautiful song.
This was one of the songs that helped me when I started my Recovery from Alcohol and drug addiction..So it means a LOT to me! Thanks!
Their harmonies are special. Aside from the other big songs they've had you should also treat your ears to their version of Silent Night this holiday season. One of my favorite versions ever because of their beautiful harmony.
I love Wilson Phillips! I used to play their music for our little girls all the time. Our little girls are 34 and 31 now. They still know the words.
Another awesome group! "Impulsive" is another one of their great songs.
This is their best song, IMO. Great vocals and great harmonies.
This song was what got me through some dark times as a young teen.. the breaking of my family, transitioning to a new school where I didn't speak the language.. it still holds a special place in my heart!
Put the nail in the coffin for my first marriage! 🦋
This song chased me across half of the country when I moved to college in 1990 - for almost 1000 miles, every time I got out of range of my current radio station and found another one, this song was played within 15 minutes. Over and over. It’s absolutely the theme song of that trip.
Great song choice! This is one of the few 90s songs that I can still listen to and it doesn't feel dated or cringeworthy.
One of my favorite songs of all time
Great reaction.
They did a guest appearance on Kelly Clarkson show and sang this with her. It was very cool
I have a memory over 30 years ago, skipping down the street with my girlfriends and singing the chorus to this song 🎵 💕
Stunning song on all levels!
Great reaction to such a great song. They were really underrated. Other of their songs worth listening to
RELEASE ME
YOU'RE IN LOVE
IMPULSIVE
THE DREAM IS STILL ALIVE
and for Christmastime reactions the Wilson Sisters Carny and Wendy sing
HEY SANTA.
"Impulsive" is one of their good songs to try next.😀❤
I am so happy you finally are playing them. Their best one is a cover of Beach Boy's Good Vibrations. They do them PROUD. A MUST listen!!!
I don't mind admitting that I was moderately in LOVE with Chynna Phillips back in those days❤😍😁
Check out their video of them doing Good Vibrations live at a small venue in Connecticut. So much talent is mind blowing!
Tina Arena - Chains. A genuine talent and a banger of a song. Please react and bring this amazing singer to a new audience 🙏😍
This one of those songs that I just gotta crank the volume up on when I hear it come on the radio in the car. Good vibes. ❤❤
You gotta hear their cover of "Good Vibrations!!!"
Now that sounds interesting, have to go find it.
Love it!

You've done Dolly
You've done Linda
Now you are ready for the other member of the Trio, Emmylou Harris.
I recommend Poncho and Lefty as a start.
(Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris recorded a couple of albums together as the Trio.)
that videoclip was a drug...and today I have everything from them! I'm still in love with these girls!! I can never stop listening the first and second record...neva!
This is a beautifully written and executed song ...love it 💗🕊️.
Two of them are the daughters of Brian Wilson the leader of The Beach Boys and one is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas. There’s three people singing.
This group comes from rock royalty! They were one of my favorite female groups in the late 80's early 90's...so good!
Love! If you watch the movie Bridesmaids, which you should it’s hysterical, they have them and this song performing at the end.
I love this song, such true words
I heard one interview from them when this first came out, where they got lots of letters from young women who were contemplating suicide and changed their minds after hearing this.
love this song. Great melody, great harmonies, great message.
