4:16 This song was often broadcast on TV Tokyo, one of the Japanese TV stations. It is mainly broadcast on sports-related TV programs, and it reminds me of the time when it was broadcast.
@@militaryevents107 It immediately went into my "favorites list" lol, sadly it's going to be stuck in my head until I find the name or someone tells us!
Oh, Military Events, I am so happy you were there!! What a joy it is to see this. Thanks so much for filming it. All the hard work that the young men and women have been doing has paid off, for sure. How glorious that first march is! I loved it. And it flowed so nicely into the 2nd one. Super to see DM Scott Fitzgerald again, too! You made my day much happier with your video.
I think this is the lineup from left to right: Drum Major Daniel Fairley, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards Drum Major Paul J. Carson, 1st Battalion Irish Guards Senior Drum Major Gareth Chambers, Irish Guards Drum Major Stu Laing, Welsh Guards Drum Major WO2 Scott Fitzgerald, Coldstream Guards
@@TheDrummie1 however it is for the troop it will be the same for the beating retreat I believe. And yes the Senior Drum Major is always in the center.
@Military Events thank you for posting. I’m non military, but love these band vids. The marches are wonderful, and new to my untutored ears👍👍 Question: what’s the “plume” on the second from right Dms bearskin if you or anyone knows? Cheers and best wishes from Cornwall👍👍👍👍
Tim Clancy the reason the Trombonist carries a sword is because he has an appointment which allows him to carry a sword. The Trombonist in the first rank (file), is the Band Sergeant Major (BSM) of the Coldstream Guards band. Which is an appointment that allows you to carry a sword. In the Bands only the Band Sergeant Major (BSM), Bandmaster (BM), or the Director of Music (DOM) will be seen carrying swords, the first two ( the BSM & the BM) carry swords because of their respective appointments and not their ranks. The Director of Music carries a sword because he holds an Officers Rank, not because of appointment. Hope this makes sense! Sorry for the long essay! And Thank you for your service Sir!
I watch this also as a teen, and I love it. I am not forced to watch it, it isn't boring, these people put hours of their lives practicing for things like this. Have some respect.
Every time I lay down to take a nap, these guys go right past my bedroom window

The first march is called By the Center - will find the composer’s name tomorrow

Smashing video, I'm going on Thursday evening to watch it, saw a bit of it live on Facebook earlier, should be a great evening. Thank you.
Yeah!! I’m going tomorrow night to see it from the inside. Will be good to see a video for each day!
Hurray! Lucky you, MrBaton74; I saw the Facebook post too. Looks like there will be some intricate moves involved. Enjoy!
Even me mate got last minute tickets only found out today! 😮
That was absolutely fantastic, thank you very much.
Excellent!, as usual Thank you for sharing, M.E.
Steadfast &True - One of my all time favourite marches - played it many a time - the trombone part is cracker.
My lord that's smart and that first tune is out off this world.
This is a lovely video, enjoyed so much 😊
Great video well done
I think this is the lineup from left to right:
Drum Major Daniel Fairley, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards
Drum Major Paul J. Carson, 1st Battalion Irish Guards
Senior Drum Major Gareth Chambers, Irish Guards
Drum Major Stu Laing, Welsh Guards
Drum Major WO2 Scott Fitzgerald, Coldstream Guards
Looks about right. The same lineup as the troop this year :)
You're Correct!
Is there a reason that the DMs are in that order, I am aware the Sen.DM is always centre.
@@TheDrummie1 however it is for the troop it will be the same for the beating retreat I believe. And yes the Senior Drum Major is always in the center.
@@semajbronson21 thanks for that, but are they in a particular order of seniority left to right or right to left.

Stirring!
Does someone know when in 2023 this will be? I reaaaally want to see this live!
(SDM) Senior Drum Major Gareth Chambers, Irish Guards leading the bands (He is the one in the middle)
❤❤❤❤❤️
My favorite sound is that of the piccolos. At the typical vantage it is always hard to hear them. Oh well.
Almost makes you proud to be British.
Why is one of the trombone players wearing a sword ? Curious, I’m a US vet .
