What never ceases to amaze me that this is one of the last countries where this whole thing is "real" - not a l'art pour l'art spectacular or entertainment but a real military made up of real soldiers for a real sovereign. That's what makes it so special. Britain should keep its traditions alive forever, for the greater good of all mankind.
If you have the opportunity to see any British military bands, don't miss it. I saw (one of) the Royal Marines bands some years ago in London. Fantastic. Here's a salute from a Canadian to all British military bands. You men and ladies can be very proud. Thanks.
It is not because English is not my mother tongue that I say: "you left me absolutely speechless", but BECAUSE YOU ARE SOOOOO GOOD AT EVERYTHING! I really admire you people of the UK, I sincerely love you as hell, you are too much!
ARNHEM!! What a AWESOME march for the Guards Massed Bands to open with! Next the 79th Farwell to Gibraltar with the pipes. What could be more bittersweet, emphasis on sweet. I can't remember the name of the Third march. I have it on a recording by the Irish Guards and I will look it up. Thanks So Much Mart for being there! Haven't been able to make it since 1998. A Yank in Chicago
Arnhmen one of my favorite Marches of the household bands grenadier guards or all guards bands. Makes me think of the guards in 2019 or before . Also makes me think of Nijmegen company grenadier guards 2022 and 1st battalion Coldstream guards in 2022 too. Wellington is a good one. Same composer of trafaglar a other March that I like.
Tudo perfeito boas March Militares e muito bem organizado.Bravo pela cultura q esse povo tem no sangue e valorizar o Músico Militar & Orquestras Sinfônicas.
I keep looking at it! Arnhem is my Town (place of birth) Goosebumps! You have to keep them filming, I enjoying it 79th's farewell to Gibraltar i love it! Wellington march even better! thanks so much!!
@@Kuiper3282 Mart, I've searched here in Canada but can't find anywhere to get hold of recordings of the British Guards Bands. Can you suggest a company in the UK I could contact. Thanks Mart, your videos are wonderful and I replay them constantly. Gael
one of the best and smoothest videos I have seen of keeping up with them moving down birdcage walk... Out of interest does anyone know the name of the second march with the bagpipes in the background
Michael Cousins O'Neill: Which Marines are you talking about? US Marines? A good chance! UK Royal Marines? Excellent musicians but, as an ex infantry man, not as a marching band at the head of an infantry column? No chance! Their bass drum best is not pronounced enough. The Brigade of Guards Bands, I say again are unbeatable anywhere!
Peter 99 You are taking a joke based on a popular saying literally. As Corps of Army Music (including Guards musicians)/RM comparisons go, they have different styles, and I personally wouldn't care to take sides, speaking as a former RAF air traffic controller who respects both. RM percussion relies more on the drums played by the 'buglers' in the first two rows.
Michael Cousins O'Neill: Yes the RM are excellent but IMO they have not the crispness and the beat of the Guards Bands as a marching band at the head of of a column of infantry! I know I have this experience when in the infantry with the regimental band at the head of the battalion after a day of a route march! The Guards Bands are the best of all marching bands!
Still trying to work out how you managed such a smooth travelling video shot without falling over all the bystanders. I've used a camera pole myself but only for stationary shots over the crowd, ( see my vid ) I take my hat off to you. Great video.
I hope you got to see them marching and playing. I love our military bands so pleased they post recordings on youtube as I live in the states and they dont do this here.June is the queens official birthday so you should have chance to see some of the military bands.
A pity you didn't drop back to get the pipes in 79ths Farewell to Gibralter. The band accompanament is not the main theme. One of the best pipe tunes ever when you can hear them. I'm wondering why the cornets are behind the trombones. Usually they are at the rear aren't they? Troms, basses & euphos, horns cornets, reeds.
I thought it was called National Emblem? That was my favourite tune to march to when I served in the 9/12 Royal Lancers and thats the name that members of the band gave it.
My humblest apologies Kenneth, just spoke to a member of the band and he assures me it is 'Wellington'. All these years I have been misled! Still my favourite marching tune!
Marsen 'Oubollig'??? Ik dacht het niet.....Vraagje, wat is de naam van de 2e mars, samen met de doedelzakken? de 3e. 'Wellington' Prachtig, met stevig basfundament (bastrombone's)

Outstanding performance by the British Army Bandsmen, from a retired American Marine Corps Bandsmen in Texas.
Good. But as an ex Royal Highland Fusilier, I have to admit that the best bands in the British Military are the Royal Marines. Oorah brother.
@@YARROWS9 you have to be careful when comparing military bands they are all very highly trained musicians Army Royal Marines and RAF
That ‘conversation’ between brass and pipes at 5.00mins is just splendid. Thanks.

The British are the best at putting on parades
The music is grand !!

One of my greatest regrets is that I discovered the brilliance of these bands too late in my life. I would have loved to see them in person.
Thanks for this super recording, i hope that i see it self some time.
I greatly appreciate posting these - always LOVE a massed band performance.
These videos are fantastic. Love it!🇬🇧
Ik blijf kijken elke dag weer kan er geen genoeg van krijgen!! (Can't get enough of it, keep watching the video, every day )
the way those bag pipes came in
Well played Arnhem sounding great brilliant dynamics, trio is sounding sweet and well balanced.

Magnificent music by Household Bands and P&Ds.

Mike Ellis Always a pleasure.
79th Farewell was spot on..
I just love this. There is a real peace that comes over me when I watch and hear the United Kingdom Military Bands. 💕 🇦🇺
Love and pride in Britain

Two places dearly held in the hearts of the UK military if no longer our people and politicos.😉

Cracking video Mart.....worth waiting for. Thanks mate.
Awesome bass drums.
I may be biased but I think that British Military Band are the best in the world. Good camera work thanks for posting
The way they transitioned into Farewell to Gibraltar! I was listening in for those pipes and when I heard it, I couldn't take it.
Nobody does it better!

Fantastic recording as always mate. Thanks.
custard24 thanks, always nice to know I can please others with my videos

Yes your recordings are fab. I was seated there on the 2nd night. Heard them approaching, sent a tingle down my spine!
Mooi dat je de euphoniums en bassen er goed opzette met de Arnhem mars zit een mooie tegen melodie in! Super opname!!
Proud to be English Rule Brittania/ God save our Queen ( we love you ) x
Notice the use of cornets rather than trumpets.
ooh, I wish we got to hear The Great Little Army there at the end!
FishBone911 just tune in on one of my other video's when the massed bands enter Horse Guards Parade and you'll hear it.
If that doesnt strike the fear of god into you then nothing will... along with the buildings of london..Love it... !
Thank you Sir cracking video🇬🇧🇬🇧🇦🇺
O meu sonho era vê aqui no Brasil uma Banda de Música militar como essa. Coisa de 1° mundo.
God bless Royal Guards Division
Absolute brilliance xxxx
Since the demise of the British empire the world has gone to rat shit 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Woon jij in Londen of ga je op en neer daarheen Mart?
Sem dúvida as melhores do mundo, as bandas militares inglesas! Paixão!
Ah yes, Arnhem. Best quick march, in my opinion of course.
Superb! Unbeatable!
Peter 99 Er, tell that to the Marines! (I'll get me coat...)

The Guards marching to Arnhem. Are the Parachute Regiment happy?
Border Regiment, KOSBs?
Remember the Irish Guards where on the chase up the road to Arnhem......

MissMark999 Hear! Hear!
Fantástico
What’s the name of the last March?
Senior Drum Major Scott Fitzgerald, Coldstream Guards
what time--in terms of 7 00 Pm or whatever-- did they set off? I'm going to London this June, and would like to see this...

Hey Mart, dit is bijna BBC quality. Zowel beeld als klank. Keep up the nice work.
eric1603 dank voor het compliment! Volgend jaar hopelijk nog beter met een nieuwe camera...
They are Good, excuse me Great because they take pride in what they do ..
Super thanks
Whats the name of the tune they start to play after Wellington please?
????
It's "The great little army" composed by Alford.
0:15 *England intensifies*
Did you even read the description?
:awesome:
Does anyone know the tune at 6:13
Luis R. See extra information, it's Wellington march
I thought it was called National Emblem? That was my favourite tune to march to when I served in the 9/12 Royal Lancers and thats the name that members of the band gave it.
That's 'Wellington' by Wilhelm Zehle.
My humblest apologies Kenneth, just spoke to a member of the band and he assures me it is 'Wellington'. All these years I have been misled! Still my favourite marching tune!
No worries, Phil. Great march.
