It was a kind and compassionate action on the part of the judge to realise that Patrick's distraught father needed an understanding hand on his shoulder. I've never seen that before in my years as a trial lawyer.
I'm a trial watcher 20+ yrs & I've never seen a Judge do that as well
Some judges really show why they're judges. Compassionate with a firm hand for justice
Are you a psychotherapist or a trial lawyer? Or both?
@@JadedBelle I was initially a trial lawyer, and later became a psychotherapist.
@@susanandrew6453 That's so interesting. Are you happier with one over the other? Both are fascinating fields.
I think she was playing both sides in the beginning. She got with Patrick a month after breaking up with her psycho on and off, ex... indecisive, she went back and messed with the crazy ex... that's what toxic couples do... they won't leave completely... and be done and keep running around in the same circles. It's sad that Patrick lost his life over something so senseless - he was so young, and my heart hurt to hear the way his dad cried in court. May Patrick rest in peace ❤
Yes I agree
Yeah I think people should move on from their previous relationship first before getting into a new one. She brought her crazy ex into Patrick's life and knew that he could hurt him
She went to see him but I can tell she didn’t want to be there he was doing all the touching and the kissing and I can tell she didn’t even want to hold his hand he planned these videos but it didn’t work for this murderer
I came here to see who was brave enough to say what I was thinking!!!!
@@Estellbel1968well she didn’t pull away now did she?! She’s a grown woman and she needs to accept some responsibility that she DID lead him on.
Hearing his dad look in the killers eyes and say he’d finish him off if he ever got out and “peel him like an onion” gave me a chill!

How can you hear his dad look in the killer’s eyes? Just wondering… 🤗☺️
@@lottatroublemaker6130😂
So what the killer did to that man's son doesn't give you chill but what the man said gives you chills? As backwards I tell you.
I would do the same thing as well if I were his dad😢😢😢😢
Patrick's father broke my heart: "I was not there to protect my son.' That is a true father - provide and protect is what men are made for, and when that is cut off, it destroys a man.
He should of protected his son by keeping him away from Jessica
I know it's not really allowed, but I'm glad Mr. De La Cerda said what we would all want to say in a case like this. His tears made me so sad.
Absolutely agree
It's that raw emotional response that every parent would feel in this situation, but most are afraid to say it.
He said it for everyone.

Its usually the women who are abused and terrorized. If Jessica had a father like De la Cerda, maybe this wouldn't have happened.
@@nadzachWhat kind of father did she have?

Yelling!!💯💯💯🤭 Nee Tooo!! 😂
The audacity...absolutely enraging

What other things do you yell about, Rachelle?
Jessica monotonous voice & emotion, straight away gives me the chills as something cold about her
It sounds like she’s numb to me. The pain is so great she has went numb. Happened to me when my loved one died it was a bizarre experience
"I'm going to finish you off. I'm going to peel you like an onion!" Amen, sir. I am so sorry for your's and your families loss. RIP Patrick ❤
Good thing I watched this Marathon because all three episodes were brand new to me.
Which is sadly a rarity on this channel.
I saw the first one.

Same here lol
The episodes were the first time you'd seen them, but please tell me tou immediately started singing "Carol Baskin did it" 😅😅
Rip Patrick . So sad
It's always the nice person who gets killed.
I’m sorry but that Jessica girl is not innocent in this..
1st case - jessica was definitely played both sides and her ridiculous excuse that she met up with her ex because he was threatening her and she thought she could calm him down while shes caught on camera kissing and being touchy with him makes her look like a fool. Id respect it if she wouldve jus said in the beginning she was torn and still saw her ex but realized she truly wanted Patrick...but to say her ridiculous excuse while its caught on camera makes ke wonder if theres anything shes not being truthful about. I wana know how patrick could afford that huge rock on her finger.
2nd case- I always find it so strange when watching a case where the family talks about the victim giving them a sealed envelope and telling them "if anything happens to ke give this to the police"...but the family member says they just say ok and never open it until the unimaginable happens. Now i know im not the only one to think that if someone in my family came to me with a sealed envelope and said give this to police if something happens to me im immediately going to asks 100 questions and then when u leave im definitely opening the damn envelope. Or is it just me??
It’s outrageous that Greg has a whole wife, but terrorized his ex gf and her bf. SMH 🤦🏾♀️
Loved the wife and developed an obsession...for a young woman, easy to control. Many men have mich younger mistresses
But she continued to play w his head by going to eat dinner w him, holding his hand, letting him kiss her, etc. That ONLY made matters worse. Now an innocent man who gave his all for this girl, lost it all.
@@jogirl836agreed. She’s in love with being loved.
@jogirl836 she should be charged too. She is the cause of this. She played a dangerous game. Unless she did it out of fear.
I cant even find an ex to terrorize me!
Patrick's mother is very understanding to still care for Jessica, compassionate woman.
Yes, I think a lot more than I would have because this is all on her… She kept going back to the madman for the money money… Putting her son at risk and look what happened…
I'm thinking along those lines as well. I couldn't be this forgiving if that had been my son. Sad tragedy.@@lynngallagher7456
@@lynngallagher7456ok so I’m not tripping. She seems like she was trying to attach herself to any man with money she could find. 2 months after a break up she’s locked in with Patrick but still seeing the other guy while claiming it’s because he’s threatening ppl she loves. Letting him touch and kiss her. Come on now. It sounds messy and Patrick should have left her alone after he found out.
@@jessicavalentine4807 Yeah, I'm sure she would've married Greg had he asked. She dated him and his money for 8 years but his marriage prevented that. She's not a murderer, obviously, but she makes bad choices and Patrick got caught in the fray. Too bad he didn't walk away.

Any contact with your EX is crazy. Unless you have children together. She strung her ex along. Partly to blame imo

The dad was ready to punch the defending attorney for accusing him of the crime 😂
Too bad he wasn't allowed to do it. Those defense attorneys are sometimes just as lowdown as their clients.
@@kimberlyhood4095That's insane that you're blaming the defense attorney for defending their client, the actual one who is being accused and likely guilty) and for upholding due process. Especially if it is a state appointed defense attorney who has no choice in who they represent. So if their client says their not guilty but you know their guilty and have to defend them for not being guilty.... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO DO?
@@Naturefan354Nothing is wrong with _describing_ the depths defense attorneys will go to defend their clients regardless if their job requires them to do so.
@@Naturefan354 that attorney doesn't have to prove a thing, the DA is the one that has to bring proof to the table. Reasonable doubt isn't bringing a grieving father to the stand and blaming him. They were grasping at straws because they knew he was guilty and didn't have a leg to stand on. Look at the Casey Anthony trial, they even tried to blame the utility worker that found little Caylee's body. The majority of them are rattlesnakes, they literally blamed the victims family.
Why why why do you need to post your life on Facebook? You don’t need to announce your joy to the world. No one cares. They will just compare your joy to their pathetic life. People will either be jealous of you, hate you for showing off, or feel sorry for themselves. If you have joy, keep it to yourself and celebrate among yourselves.
I know it’s the defence attorney’s job to poke holes in the prosecution’s case but the fact that he used the victim’s grieving father as a scapegoat with no evidence is so disgusting.
Exactly! That was a low blow
For real! Absolutely appalling.
Unbelievable dirty trick
And the actual killer is right there in the court letting it happen
This is why people hate lawyers. Zero morals. All ego and greed.
If you're in a relationship for 8 years and immediately jump to online dating then immediately engaged, huge, huge red flag.
I agree.
Absolutely.
When I was 21, I ended a 4 year relationship, met someone got engaged and married within about 4 months
@JulieRushworth Sharon, an older co-worker, dated a man a considerable number of years met her current husband dated 6 months and were married over 30 yrs when he died.
Now, I do not advocate for anyone to believe that is always the case it is impossible to know someone in 6 month's high risk. It does happen can happen rare at best.
I forgot about Sharon when I commented on the young woman involved in the 48 hrs story. However, to return and allow her ex to touch her to enter his house, I did not care for her, and I believe she enjoyed being on camera with 48 hrs more than the loss of that young man.

#1 It really bothers me that she says he took away "her" future... um, what about Patrick's?
I caught that and thought the same thing
Exactly = Narc
Right, it’s not her life that’s lost…she sounds so immature.
She says her whole world was taken away and yet not one tear, zero emotion the whole time!
She seemed drugged or medicated or at least very detached. Her flat tone was hard to listen to. I wonder if she feels any guilt from bringing that crazy guy into Patrick's life?
Calming him down by letting him kiss you licking you taking you home … while you were in relation with Patrick the man who was honest with you it was hard to watch him rubbing yr body and you are in relation with Patrick I wonder how Patrick felt when he saw that 💔💔💔
I find Jessica very sketchy, she is meeting these guys on line ,she “dated” Gregory a married man for 8years who is almost twice her age ,when he wouldn’t leave his wife she finally leaves . Didn’t take her long to hook up with Patrick . Although professing her fear of him and getting a restraining order, she is still dating him , cheating on Patrick . Now she is playing the victim for the camera 🙄. Her game online is $$$$$

I felt that about her minute I heard her speak…

Yes, another 48 hours marathon! Authorities need to start taking protective orders seriously!
People always say that a protective order is just a piece of paper. That should change! They need to change that laws or create one that says if if you violate one, you can get up to 15 years in prison, or more. Too many ppl are dying.
@@taranote I couldn’t agree more with you. There needs to be reform on enforcing protective orders. Mine violated it 13 times, and nothing happened to him. It definitely is a piece of paper right now, and that needs to change. Yes, way too many people are dying because of this.
Exactly. If he was ordered to turn over all his guns they should have lawfully been able to enter his house and get them. That wouldn’t have been an illegal search (especially if they found some)…but what do I know? Probably nothing.
Yes. Expecting someone who already has no respect for other’s boundaries, rights, to honor a restraining order…is like handing a piece of paper to a crocodile and asking it nicely not to bite. It’s inane and treating these people as if they are wired “normally”. They aren’t. If they were, they wouldn’t need the restraining order!

In all seriousness, Patrick should have called Greg and told him that he was dumping Jessica immediately. Then he should have dumped her. She was all about the money. She dated Greg for that long, and she would have married him if he had done what she asked. Then she meets patrick, and continues to socialize with Greg because of his money, something that Patrick didn't have
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Bender looks old and creepy she was only around him for money and was leading him on regardless of him being married since she wasn’t “aware” of it

I think Jessica was playing BOTH sides, and it backfired DRASTICALLY!!! I am not victim blaming in the least, but you don't get to claim you are "in fear for your life," and then let him rub your leg and kiss you head at a restaurant. My heart breaks for Patrick's mother. Women out there be VERY careful what kind of man you keep on a "back burner," there are whackadoodles everywhere.
I thought it was odd that she went back to the boyfriend and let him rub her leg and she also went to his house just because she had a disagreement with Patrick
She is very suspect...
They fought _after_ I believe because Bender sent that tape to Patrick. She said she went 2 c Bender bcuz he told her if she came that nothing will happen again.
Beware guys- no woman is truly single. Most are secretly juggling other guys lurking on her periphery, in her phone, male “friends,” etc. These are guys she hopes to trade up to, or to run to if the current relationship fails, or just as a source of attention. It was Patrick’s bad luck she was also teasing a psychopath ex. Jessica’s feelings of loss are surely real, but women rarely take accountability for their own roles in situations like this. This scenario is a worst-case example of what can happen from games that nearly all women play.

Yup! I know it well. My stalker harassed us - me, mostly, but also family - for years. It steadily got worse, but I was told that no Order of Protection could be issued until he committed a serious criminal act, such as sending me to a hospital. It was very predictable, and then it happened: He sent me to the hospital, and finally got arrested. Unfortunately, I did too: For defending myself, really. Charges against me were completely dropped, but spending 18 hours in custody was not fun. The stalker pled down to a lower charge, and we got a two year order of protection against him. He violated it whenever he felt like it, and then the Police would arrest him, and then he'd get released within three or four hours, and all charges eventually dropped. It was infuriating. So before the two year OP ran out, we moved, telling almost no one before we left, in a neighborhood where we knew hundreds of people. The whole thing is absurd. When will the law deal with stalking? Jessica isn’t innocent in this at all. There’s more to this story that hasn’t been brought to light.
That fiancée of Patrick is rubbing me the wrong way. All alarm bells go off here.
First she is in a relationship that isn't healthy. Fighting, hate, etc. She accepts the marriage proposal.
Then she breaks up with him and within a few months she is engaged with the second man.
What the h*ll, lady?! Be on your own for a while, learn to love yourself, be yourself and only then begin a new relationship. Don't do man hopping, just because you don't want to be alone. If you are that desperate for a relationship, go see a psych. It means you have a severe problem. And you sure don't have a personality that can exist on its own. That is dangerous.
Especially after a bad relationship it is a good idea to give yourself time to become who you were before that relationship. You need to, otherwise the next one is doomed too. Sometimes it takes years to recover. So be it. Then you are on your own for a couple of years. That's ok. When you are ready, you will meet the right person to share the rest of your life with. Don't rush, don't push, don't force it. It comes when it comes.
Too late for babies? That is too bad. Bringing kids into a toxic relationship and a toxic life with unstable parent(s) isn't a good idea anyway. It doesn't only ruin your life, but also the life of innocent beings.
That being said, I think little missy here is the bad apple. When I first saw here, I got the creeps. Here demeanor is arrogant and nothing about her is truthful or real. I don't think she is the one who actually killed him. But she is way to quick to put the blame on her ex. It is like she set him up to get him out of the way, so she can have Patrick. She didn't love him. I have a feeling he added something to her narcissistic personality.
She describes Patrick as perfect and their relationship as perfect. Well, no one is perfect and no relationship is perfect. But she makes everything perfect to show people how great she is, how awesome she had it, etc.
Hired someone to set her ex up? Probably.
I just don't like her. Nothing about her I like. Creepy woman that everyone needs to stay away from. Brrr.
I'm sorry Patrick fell for her and lost his life because of her and her past. I wish all the loved ones of Patrick the best.
Forget the restraining order. This Jessica met with this soon to be killer twice. Both men lost their lives to an unfaithful woman that was playing them both. Ok, you have this restraining order. But what sense to having it if you meet with this man anyway. This woman is a black widow. She wanted to make this killer jealous because she discovered that he was married. Her revenge resulted in this innocent young man's life. Bless your soul, young man😢
Absolutely agree, well said.
@@JCX-9Bender lost his own being that he was married and carrying on a long-term affair.
I agree I do not get good vibes from her at all…
Yeah it seems like she still wanted the killer because of his money. Anyone else with a conscience would have just broke up with a man that you find out is married! Not tell him he has to leave his WIFE!
So much criticism on the girl. The psychicopath surely manipulated her. That's what they do. She was young when they met and easily manipulated. Besides, she really wanted to marry. When she finally realises he isn't going to and he is wasting her youth. She leaves and finds another one to marry. That's all. . "Blender ended her future"
Something tells me this isn’t the last we’ll hear of Jessica…
The feeling is mutual
😂
Yeah, maybe she’ll be in another 48 hours episode soon.
She'll meet the new "love of her life" soon
😂😂
In the first story, where were the girl’s tears?
Oh poor Patrick. He should have stayed broken up with this girl. She doesn't look uncomfortable at all holding hands, her thigh being rubbed and going to his house. They looked like people who were still having sex
Nowadays, people love cameras, pictures, and social media more than any other person.
True. I stay off social media because of this very reason. I don’t need people to know my business!!
@@gasmith7486Yeah and it's also dangerous and also Instagram, Facebook etc. constantly only focus on selfies of teen girls and women to get likes and followers and with Photoshopped filters and this just has increased how girls and women are valued mostly for their appearance and there are many online academic studies about this.
Yes and it's dangerous too and Instagram and Facebook etc. constantly only focus on selfies of teen girls and women to get likes and followers and with Photoshopped filters and this has just increased girls and women mostly only being valued for their appearance.
Not me. I despise social media and almost never take pictures.
Jessica sounds like a creation of AI with that flat voice . . .
Not everyone reacts with hysteria in the face of grief. Why are you judging someone who already lost so much? I don't think you would like to be in her shoes right now.
@@thrivingdevelopment2317 Thank-YOU it scares me at how many people are attacking her. She could be trying to stay as calm as possible every time she interviews so she won't break down in front of the cameras. If she was crying, the would say she is faking. Also, no one spoke to whether or not the engagement ring was made from the most expensive stones. I am glad she was standing with Patrick's mother, it could not be easy for either of them.
Depression or being on the spectrum

Agree 100%. The venom thrown at Jessica here is crazy.
I think she’s trying to sound like the Kardashian sisters.
"Carolyn Baskin- killed her husband, whacked him! Can't convince me that it didn't happen. Fed him to tigers they snackin'! What's happening?!" Y'all remember this?! She definitely killed that man or helped someone do it.
No one should own wild animals
Now that we’ve glimpsed the people who do, this is especially so!
@@SKinSKorea agree 100 percent
Horses and Dogs were originally wild. should we release them? 🤔🧐🙄🤦
So where do the injured ones go?
exactly
This is why it's important to know your significant other's past. "Is there anyone in your past that feels they are still in love with you"....."Have you had anyone in your past who had violent tendencies?"....."Have you had any encounters with an obsessive partner?"...........etc.
It's never been anyone fault to get stalked by psychopath ex. In this case, Jessica also a victim too.
Yes. We live in strange times. Additionally, we need to do background checks on potential parters *and* get tested for sexually transmitted diseases before copulating. Be safe. Be aware. ❤️
Jesus it's not her fault. Absolutely fed up with these types of comments. His crime not hers.
i don't think anyone is blaming the victim. It's important info to know about someone so you can both be safe.
Patrick knew about her ex. He made the choice to stay because he loved her.
They placed a protective order against him. They did everything right.
Victim blaming is gross.
They leave out so much for tv. Like...shes a predator trying to marry for money. Like...the guy in Florida on 9 acres had no money. Like....it was love...
RIP to Patrick!
Took her a month to move on from being a side chick. It'll take her the same amount of time to move on again.
I am not impressed with her. Actually, disgusted. She can’t go any length of time without a man fawning over her. Knowing where she has been lying for EIGHT YEARS…within a month or so splashes her new love all over Facebook without an ounce of brains or foresight. My sadness is for his Mom and Dad but not her. She’ll find another “love.” A necessity for her. The way she allows this psycho to touch her while she meets him during her relationship with Patrick is disgusting.
Exactly. I've seen far too many cases where somebody who knows full well that their Ex is unstable and jealous (especially after 8 years together) and yet as soon as they're dating somebody new, they post photos all over FB---as if they're TRYING to make their Ex jealous.
She's lying, and she knew exactly what was gonna happen. She played a part in this poor guy's life, ending 😢 so sad for him and his parents
@@ericblair7279 seems like something she should have mentioned and reported early on...
She's trouble!! I hope the next man realizes this.
She seems so static, like there is zero emotion there, anywhere, very unsettling.
She was in a relationship for 8 years (obviously due to his money because it sure wasn’t because of his looks) and one month after breaking up, she was looking for another man!? That was her first mistake.
Her "mistakes" are irrelevant. One man, who apparently was troubled, killed another fellow. terrible waste.
I agree. As soon as I heard that, I was shocked.
We all know Carol killed Don, because that woman is batshit crazy 😳
Carol is guilty as sin. She’s pure evil.
When the dad laid down to show us where his badly was, i got CHILLS&MY HEART DROPPED!!!!
Complete shock.... for a parent to give such a visual...I was floored.
Heartbreaking. It kind of showed that the image is imprinted in his mind, and plays often 😢
He REALLY wanted the public to know his beloved son was shot in the back by this sick coward
Oh my gosh yes. So heartbreaking.
Annoying when people say “I got chills”🙄
Ex is a rich psychopath and you meet him secretly and go inside his house to 'protect' your BF? He should have left her right there.
She is a walking red flag.
These unnecessary annoying adds have prevented me from posting sometimes right in the middle of writing my posts!
Thank you. Someone that can see through BS. She wanted a backup incase this new fling didn't work out.
Definitely 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 and she got him killed. Just sad
That's exactly what I thought
Yes!
I don’t see how Carol thought what she & Don were doing with the wild cats was better than the cat man?
Great point, I believe Carol is responsible for her husband’s disappearance !
This is the most painful case ve heard on 48hrs, just an innocent boy just had to pay for live with his life 😢
First of all JESSICA should have NEVER put her and Patrick's photo on her FB profile for Greg to find out about the two of them!
And second, I BETCHA Patrick's mom might wish her son had NEVER met Jessica because THAT'S really why he's dead!
AND those restraining orders are MEANINGLESS cause they never WORK!
Yep, bullets easily rip through paper.
I was thinking the same thing. As close as they are they have HAD to had those feelings and thoughts against her. Especially her out with Greg months after they started dating. Him kissing her hand. If he is crazy already that just led him on. I definitely do not want to blame the victim but just an observation/opinion.
@@user-bi4bb6cd9sTrue but you CAN use WISDOM. Unfortunately more people don’t have any these days.
She herself said that she was consoled by the fact that her son died with love in his mind and heart. As the mom of the victim, such a statement means alot
Yeah Linda Jackson,we really need much better protection laws.
No disrespect to the mother but a restraining order would probably have worked if your son’s fiancee didn’t continue to date the killer behind your son’s back. Going out to dinner , kissing pda is giving false hope to an infatuated old fool .
This woman the fiancée is strange. No real emotion and kept saying how 'her life' was ruined, that's very narcissistic. He is the one who lost his life,it should be about Patrick not about her. I also was expecting Bender to implicate his ex gf in the crime. It wouldnt have surprised me., something very odd about her.
If she hadn't met Patrick, he would still be alive 🤦🏼♀️🫠
It would've been someone else just not Patrick yk? That bender dude is that crazy
If she didn't meet this ex-guy, killer.
What I'm upset about is that she posted things on fb. Why? You leave a crazy guy you should prob move but if not at the least you don't post things on fb. Telling everyone you are in a new relationship right away. What was she thinking
@@madeinussr7551I think she truly craved the attention from the psychopath.... And men in general.....😐
@@astrialindah2773 i so agree
So sad. Patricia mother is too kind to her
RESTRAINING ORDERS DO NOTHING! Absolutely NOTHING! If you have to take one out on someone, you’re better off going somewhere where they can’t trace or find you because that piece of paper will only make someone crazy, more crazy. It’s like a game to them. Been there, done that and almost lost my life. Never again. There will never be protection w a piece of paper. You’d be better off carrying and protecting yourself that way at least you know you have a chance.
True that!! 🎉

My family and I got a court order of protection against my stalker. He would violate it, get arrested, released a few hours later, and charges dropped. Rinse and repeat.
This second case brought tears to my eyes… the poem I would’ve loved to hear in full… the 4 lines they read were so powerful that I can only imagine if the entire poem was read would inflict even more emotion. Thank you for sharing this part to something none of us would’ve known and sharing a poem that none of us knew we needed. ❤❤❤❤❤
Jessica sure loves the cameras
Jessica’s flat affect and flat speech reminds me so much of how Paris Hilton talks.
Yes. Totally unnerving.
I feel my iq dropping every time she says anything;(
I feel the interviewer was trying to evoke any type of emotion from her but just couldn’t get any. Personally, I would have cried at least once during an interview like this where my fiancée was tragically murdered. She just seems so suspicious to me.
@@valenlevalenle6394 Me too!!! The phone call hours after he died was so emotionless. I know everone reacts differently to shock & grief but combined with other behaviours, I'm surprised she wasn't questioned... Or was she?

Red flag in my opinion someone out looking for someone as soon as a relationship ends cannot be alone.
How can she be with this man for 8 years and no know he was married.....That's just lies. She was his side chick and she was just as toxic as Bender. Poor Patrick.

Wild that she was dating him. If he wasn't wealthy I don't think that would have happened.
