Until people decide to study narcissism/psychopathy, you will never understand people like Chandler. Their manipulation and diabolical nature are beyond our comprehension. May his parents RIP.
I nearly was murdered by my mentally ill husband. He put on quite a facade ie mask 🎭 for years. When I knew who he was, all hell broke loose with him. My sister is especially cunning and desperate. We haven't spoken in three years. I had to set a boundary and honor it. I am keenly aware of how these people think and behave as I had been around them and had dealt with them for 57 years. Lots of first hand experience. 😕
@@DonnaMayStanish I understand. My husband and I both come from toxic families. Some people have no understanding about how devious and how good these people are at hiding their true selves but we do because we've experienced it.
The people like him are easy to understand, you just have to know that their brains don't work correctly. They don't feel guilt, pity, care or love for anyone but themselves. They care only for themselves. Once you understand that, they are easy to figure out and RUN as far as you can and build impenetrable boundaries. If you allow yourself to waver, you're doomed. Just pray you never come in contact with one.
They didnt mention that he tried to burn their heads in the fireplace. Im from where this happened and it shocked all of us, especially those that were close to the family.they were loved and will be missed.
They also didn't mention that the farm belonged to the longtime girlfriend of Cat's mother. She was like a 2nd mother to Cat. He wasn't just at the farm the day before. He & Cat spent the day there swimming in their pool & cooking out. The next day when he popped up alone the girlfriend was annoyed because he invited himself into the pool & she wanted to swim & sunbathe topless but he wouldn't leave. That's what made her take notice that he was up to something down by the water. Someone covered this case in a 3 or 4 hour upload. Especially his sit down with police. That went on forever and so did the interview with Cat. She came off as weird as him. At the very end after he was in prison Cat stated she doesn't think he did it. Yet most of her info is what convinced them he or only he did it.

My heart breaks for Joeys father and mother . The loss of your child is indescribable, like no other loss ever. However, losing a child suddenly was such a tragic circumstances is heart wrenching. Omg, Barbie Townsend! I went to college with one of her sons. She visited a lot and we always loved seeing her. Such a good-hearted person. And it didn’t surprise me one bit that she provided such an engaging, intelligent, and precise interview. Go Barbie!!
I think Joey"s fun night out pursuing hot girls ended up in a gay felon attempting a SA ending up in murdering him. They coerced him back in the apartment with promoses of drugs or something. Once girls leave, and its daylight, no incentive for a guy to hang out with 3 guys he just met. They enticed him back.
The Chandler case haunts me more than any of these. A kid who has parents that love him dearly and every opportunity in the world wastes it all then kills his parents and has absolutely zero remorse. Unbelievable.
How sad. I have watched many crime documentaries. I am weeping for this father , mother , sister and all the friends who loved Joey. I have never cried watching these until today. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

His lawyer saying that all 12 members of the jury were going to come to different conclusions is insulting. Them coming back so quickly with a guilty verdict should be a sign that she should find a different career path.
I'm having a hard time believing Elizabeth claiming she wishes the guy had gotten more than 3 years for the "pain he caused her". She was willing to run away with him, tried to protect him when her parents became suspicious, they even had to lock her in her room when they confronted him.
She's partly to blame for what happened. She can't say her life was ruined because of the guy. When you told the guy you're 15, even if the guy wants to continue the conversation she should've block him. Why lead the guy on and was willing to run off with him too. She needs to own up to her part. Some girls these days are secretive and act like they're innocent when they get on camera. If her friend's mom didn't said anything to Elizabeth parents, she would had ran off.
I absolutely agree! She was complicit in the planned elopement. She also said that the 30-year-old guy she was dying to escape with should have gotten a life sentence! Sorry, I don’t feel sorry for her at all, but I do feel for her parents.
All children need to be told, early and often, that anyone older than you who has a romantic interest in you--or who really wants to "hang out" with you--is someone messed up in the head. Anyone who says that you're "mature" for your age is a predator.
41:05 I had less than ideal parents, to say the least. I would never hurt them. This monster murdered two very loving parents that a lot of us who come from abusive homes would have loved to have. Tragic.

Or that Google search records can be found, or car gps, or that with DNA it now doesn’t matter if you never had your DNA on record, they can find you if any relative is on the large genealogy database, or can tell your eye color, race, etc. Chandler got caught by most all of those, and more, thought that his obvious lies would hold up under scrutiny.

I can relate with the murderer unfortunately. In that I also had issues with my education and it became a stressor between me and my parents but I am glad I was honest with them and went through the humiliation and constant insults. My parent used to call relatives in and ask them to insult me for failing. Still I never thought of doing anything so extreme. Most worst I thought was of suicide but then I never tried it and I even completed my degree. It was very very tough time. As I suffer from mental health issues which affect my career.I wasn't failing because I was lazy or slow. I was failing because I was unwell and could not focus

I watched the whole Halderson trial. The DA was amazing from start to finish. The opening and closing statements alone are worth a watch. The evidence was overwhelming and sad. What a RELIEF it would have been to drop all the lies he was living.... can you even imagine juggling a half dozen major lies every day and never knowing what will happen. In a day or two he could have been on the way to getting his REAL life back together after telling his parents everything. I am baffled by his psychology. There is something going I can't quite see.
And it's not a unique crime. Just off the top of my head there's Syndey Powell and Jennifer Pan. Killed one or both parents for the same reason. So bizarre.
Joey's family and friends did not truly know him. It's sad and unfortunate, but the decisions Joey made that fateful night, leaving his friends and separating from his phone, to go off with strangers reveal a weak character and undisciplined person. The lure to "social climb" and party at Sutton Place was so great to Joey that he left to attend another party without even inviting his friends. Did he perhaps conclude that his friends didn't belong in the circle he aspired to join? All that glitters is NOT gold.

I'd like to know how Chandler is holding up in prison. In fact, I think it would be interesting for reporters to look up killers in high-profile cases and report on how they are doing and feeling. Do they have any support? Have they confessed? Do they spend 23 hrs a day in their cell; how on earth do they cope?
Most of them are masters at denial and live in a reality built on lies of self-deception. But, I bet the horrors of their actions visit them in their dreams. There's ample documentaries (on yt) on all sorts of dark triad types in prison that you could find to watch. I actually wished that they'd do full-length documentaries on the victims (like how they lived before they were murdered) without the focus ALSO being the entire time on the perps. Or, well, that it's not ALL about the terrible thing that took them from us. Something about the good they did in their lives... even if all it is, is a bunch of interview of people who knew they victims and who wished to share all the good they knew about the victims. But, maybe their lives were TOO boring? Anyhow... I wish we, as a society, honored the victims better. Even IF their lives were boring. Most of them are only known to us THROUGH the evil acts perpetrated on them... I bet a lot of victims were good/nice people.

Chandler is untouched with reality period. There are no explanations for what he did. He is literally crazy. Heads up, folks, there are signs. Pls be aware and not ignore them. Address these signs. They might cause you your own life in the end.
And he wanted his inheritance early cos he felt like a failure

I cant imagine the last thoughts of Chandler's parents, especially his mother. The last text she sent to the family proved she actually did believe Chandler. She was so proud of him. Truly heartbreaking. I hope Mitch finds peace .
His father was shot in the back, she probably was too.
I have no doubt his parents would have expected accountability for all his lies, but in the end, they would have tried to help him. Such a shame, live with it.

Until people decide to study narcissism/psychopathy, you will never understand people like Chandler. Their manipulation and diabolical nature are beyond our comprehension. May his parents RIP.
He’s probably beyond a narc smh
Thank you. His actions baffle me. So so unbelievable.

Or maybe he was gay too, or at least bi.
Yeah it was probably a gay thing, and Joey fought back.😢
Sounds plausible, going alone with total strangers baffles me

Simple yet profound with all the bells and whistles. That's why I'm a 48 Hours lifer.
Her and her parents are ridiculous.
I definitely don’t feel sorry for her she’s playing victim now since she got caught

All children need to be told, early and often, that anyone older than you who has a romantic interest in you--or who really wants to "hang out" with you--is someone messed up in the head. Anyone who says that you're "mature" for your age is a predator.
Exactly right! It’s so heartbreaking to see how children seek solace from strangers and their parents are clueless.

Right. My father was so abusive there were times I was like you know, if I did I probably wouldn't go to jail, but finally he did. Back in the day child abuse wasn't taken even a bit seriously. It amazes me how people forget there's cameras everywhere, and phones tracking their whereabouts.
I watched the entire trial of the Halderson case, and my mind was blown !! Not only the thorough professionalism of the police but all the scientists involved to piece together the case, but the judge and prosecution conducted an outstanding trial. I never will understand the depth of evil humans will do. God Bless everyone impacted by that devil Chandler.
I watched every minute of the court proceedings, too. Judge and prosecuting attorney were stellar.
This kid Chandler looks like a psycho from the get-go. Just calling it as I see it.
Definitely, first I’ve heard of this case and it was all in the eyes from the picture I seen of him
I’ve never had Parents like what Chandler had, and I can Understand how perhaps he hated to **Disappoint them** by his flunking out of school and not having this “wonderful job position”, but murdering them was definitely **Not the Answer**. What’s the worse his Parents could have done after finding out his lies? They certainly wouldn’t have killed Chandler I’m almost certain.
Even tho this girl was only 15, she knew it was wrong. Her crying and saying her life is ruined I don’t feel sorry for her. She snuck out and slept with him several times. She’s just sorry they got caught. She’s lucky she’s alive.

The Halderson case is chilling! It’s crazy scary what their own son did.

Agreed! He was exceptionally talented! I’ve seen a lot of great prosecutors lately too: Georgia Kapleman & Susan Dougan (from Tallahassee) are both amazing! 🙏🏾♥️🙏🏾♥️
This case didn't seem particularly difficult to prosecute. There was plenty of evidence, no other suspects, and clues that were very easy to follow up on.
@@JJJJ-gl2uf There are many cases that *seem to be* easy to prosecute yet the state bungles it anyhow. But not with this case. Yes it was a slam dunk case, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he’s a great prosecutor
I loved his compassion for the witnesses. The judge was good too.
Another great prosecutor is the one that crossed Nancy Brophy.
This breaks my heart, his father Pat, the way he loves his son and crying my prayers for everyone involved his friends, his family. You’re all in my prayers God please bless this people.
The girl who was talking to the grown man and lied about her age, she knew exactly what she was doing. I’m happy the grown man is put away but that little girl had very supportive loving parents she wanted to be grown. I really hope she looks how blessed she truly is because the other little girl didn’t make it at all. I see a manipulator in her big time with the crying and all.

What is your mental illness? I’m just curious.

I watched the whole Halderson trial. The DA was amazing from start to finish. The opening and closing statements alone are worth a watch. The evidence was overwhelming and sad. The defense sat and watched the whole thing that didn't even no cross one wittness. They may have done that to give him a chance for appeal. The world lost some great people when Krista and Bart died. I hope Mitchell and his fiancé were able to heal, cherish each other, and their future together.

I doubt it if it was a social climb issue. For Joey, upper crust to him is just ordinary. The real reason is girls but more on coke.

Agree
