    Some ppl don't understand forgiveness. It's not exactly for the criminals.... it's more to give yourself peace!

    • @katharina...
      @katharina... 9 месяцев назад +12

      Most people don't understand it. And even those of us who do understand it get confused by it sometimes. It's a very, very difficult concept.
      When I forgive, I open my heart right back, which opens me to being taken advantage of again and again. It's not easy to stay openhearted and distant or unavailable at the same time. It takes many years of practice for most of us. Lack of forgiveness has a protective, sometimes life saving aspect to it.

    • @liliannjq7006
      @liliannjq7006 9 месяцев назад +9

      @@katharina... There is a difference between forgiveness and trust. You forgive them and you forgive yourself, for yourself, through showing empathy and an understanding of where they were coming from and why you fell for it. People hurt others from a place of hurt. That doesn't mean you give them your trust again nor that you don't take the lessons to heart and recognize the red flags the next time they show up. You can show empathy while reserving trust. Forgiveness is not for them, it's to ensure you get rid of the darkness inside you they caused that may fester if left as is.

    • @katharina...
      @katharina... 9 месяцев назад +9

      @@liliannjq7006You can't take the person you are forgiving out of the equation. If you only consider yourself in this act, it's not forgiveness you are giving. You are simply letting go. Forgiveness is much more powerful and much more complex than that.

    I remember the Chowchilla Kidnapping when they found the kids. I lived in one of the houses across the street from the field where the kids were found, and remember seeing all the police cars and helicopters. One of my Mom's best friends was one of the cops who helped rescue them, and she stopped by to tell my Mom what had happened. For years, my Mom would remind us about it whenever the story came up on TV or a kidnapping was on the news. In some ways, it also influenced my career path.

    🚨First of all... Shawnda has one hell of a GUARDIAN ANGEL because holy shttt😮
    That police officer being at that exact place at the most critical time possible. A single delay in merging, switching lanes, slowing speed...all would have changed how he ended up directly behind the van. Then finding the SURPRISE CAMERA that unknowingly recorded hundreds of hours of damning evidence...like lady...all but the lost millions...you are one of the luckiest or blessed people I've seen. They could have killed her daughter. They could have killed her and actually went rogue... but biggest blessing is that her and her daughter are alive and he's put away for a good while... finding the money would have made her the luckiest person alive but I'm sure she's found a way to manage and get back on her money bag 💰
    36:00 They should have made a mandatory stipulation to the Plea deal that disclosing the whereabouts of the millions of dollars, gold bars or whatever he did with it be revealed or NO DEAL smh y'all had the power 🙄

    I can say from my own personal experience of such a Traumatic situation it destroys EVERYTHING! It destroys the family, it destroys you not only as a child but as an adult and a parent! I was sexualy abused repeatedly by at least 7 grown men. I acted out sexualy at a very young age. I got involved with drugs and alcohol. I became a mother at just 13 years old. I had 3 girls and a boy. They saved my life in so many ways. I was a hypervigalant parent. Raised my kids all by myself. I was alcohol and drug free raising my kids. I thought my stopping drinking and drugs was doing the right thing for my kid's. I didn't realize not letting them alone with friends, or not letting them spend nights out with their friends, or walk to the store by themselves at 14 or 15. These things are a normal part of growing up. But in my mind I had to protect them at all cost. This didn't help my kids it hurt them. It took me a long time to see that my protecting them was hurting them. In my late 30s early 40s I sought out one of the men who violated me. He was old and small and hideous to look at. He had a scar from his mouth all the way down his body below his belt line. He suffered too. His poison effected his life horribly. I asked him if he knew why I sought him out? He said no. I said really? And he responded well that stuff you lied about? I told him I was the one person he couldn't do that to. I was there and I remember everything! What he did poisoned me it poisoned my life! But I wasn't going to let it go on anymore! I forgave him and walked away. The freedom I gained words can't describe! My life has gotten better. My relationship with my kids have gotten better. Sometimes you truly have to just let go of old trauma so you can move forward freed of your past!

Going to trial may have been painful but it would have given him many more years in prison and it would have saved her life AGAIN.
