Nakarkos and silverwind narga will be superior even if the regios LBG would still have normal 2 rapid fire. Maybe if slicing S was not moved to internal shots the regios gun could have a chance. That said jump reload is not so useful now we have bushido and two arts to reload your current clip or reload all shots.
+Alectroxx The reload HA doesn't reload ammo for whatever rapid-fire type your gun uses, so while that is hella useful, it's not quite as good to me as the old blam blam blam hop blam blam blam. I haven't tried Adept LBG yet, though, so that may be something I'd go for.
+Alectroxx still it doesn't feel the same, imho the Seregios LBG used to allow you to be both very agresive and evasive, full house is "okish" in the sense that, while is nice that you can reload all your ammo at once, the animation takes longer that just a good old dash boom 3 shoots. That also goes for the Adept style and it's power reload, 1.- you gotta trigger the evade, 2.- you gotta reload, 3.- you eiyher reposition o stop the running and while you still get the power boost for 10 secs, sure but it takes longer than a dash and bam 3 shoots. Idk maybe it's just me and my noobie way to play but I remember beeing able to keep myself alive and do tons of dmg back in mh4u with my Seregios LBG set (R.I.P.)
If you want a Hbg/Lbg mixed set I made one, if you are interested, you need the next: Escadora Sagesse R Storge Vest R Akantor Gauntlets R Chrome Metal Coat Akantor Boots R Charm with +4 Element atk up and 2 slots This gives Element Atk Up, Piercing up, Peak performance and TrueShot Up. Use the slots to gem in Peak performance and TrueShot Up. Note for peak performance you need a gem of +3 (2 slots) for it. It's better for Hbg but i think Lbg can benefit too. Have fun.
Problem is Element Atk Up gets outclassed by the individual element skills. Sure it's a lot more work to make 5 sets, but it's absurdly more effective.
+AzureRaven I know but I just shared a set that I just made and that is generally better like using blast for diferent monsters in a quest. Even then using this with the Alatreon Hbg is one thing i'm sure it's going to work well as some monster are weak to more than one element and that bowgun fires all lv 1 and 2 element shoots. If it was that bad of a set even then at least there's a template for people to know to work around they just have to change the element pieces for what they want.

Main reason to go Gunner in Gen: You don't need Hellblade Powders to make top-tier weapons... Also, glad to see a Nakarkos weapon up there, they look awesome and I love making and using them.
Um...like super boy said, its numbers are great. It doesnt boast any element or status, but with such high attack coupled with that affinity makes for some sweet dps and if you put effort into either the critical aspect or the raw aspect it can still perform like crazy.
I'm using the Silverwind set mostly for the evasion skills but an extra 30% affinity and Critical Up are really good. I also happened to have a +9 Attack two slot talisman. Slap on two attack 2 charms and bam...
perfect ele set is actually the respective ele atk+2, load up, bonus shot, ammo saver. bonus shot is what really makes these sets so insane. for ele pierce rapid fire LBGs it's silver/gold rath(fire), zamtrios(ice), white parasol(thunder), plesioth(water)

waited so long for this. i'm actually surprised that "Le Condamnateur" isn't on this list for pierce. i paired the LBG with the silverwind set giving me critical boost skill and 65% affinity from silverwind soul skill. the LBG rapids pierce lvl 2 (3 shots) and, because of the high affinity, i'm critting for days WITH the extra damage
i always used to play bow in the other games but i rly love the bowgun aerial style. A good LBG to combo to that style is one with rapid spread shot, this combo is awesome, give u the chance to ride monster easy and often doing lot of damage and still aveing the other shot and be versatile. Cose of that im using the Rathian LBG this is cool have lot of potential and with the spread bullet ur taking monster down so fast
I've seen players use Nebula Storm, the Plesioth/Lavasioth LBG for Water. For dealing with Alatreon, there's no better LBG than the Needlestorm. It's got 210 attack and -10% affinity, but it can use all of the elemental shots, and has the four main LV1 elemental shots on Rapid. It also has some limited support ability with Demon and Armor shot as part of its internal ammo, and also comes with Flame Shot LV2 and Dragon Shot LV2, which is helpful since Alatreon seems to stay in his Ice/Thunder form more, at least in my experience. It even has some Slicing Shot LV2 to boot! Recoil and reload speed are middle of the road as well, and no deviation either. Edit: I'm also a huge fan of Daybreak's Gaze. Above average reload, medium recoil, no deviation, 200 attack, 40% affinity, Pierce 1 on rapid with 5 rounds per clip, and a sizable number of Slicing S LV1 and LV2 shots, plus Demon shot for a little support.
a light bowgun that should be an honorable mention, is the cephadrome light bowgun. because while as a normal shot lightbowgun it gets outclassed by kushala's in everyway. but on the birghtside you can finish the gun as soon as you unlock hyper monsters and the gun itself hits pretty decently
I personally go to the zinogre LBG for thunder. I'm fully aware that the astalos gun does more elemental in the long run, but I personally prefer the zinogre guns looks and raw output with a small sliver of affinity just for good measure. its probably easier to get a set working for the astalos gun than the zinogre, but oh well for me I guess.
My personal preference set up general is Elemental Att +2, True Shot Up and Bonus Shot, as I'm very picky about my internal ammos and rapid fires in MHGen. Can't make any of my personal choices for the Fire LBG right now (DLC Gold/Silver options) so I'm using the Glavenus LBG, but that lacks internal Fire Pierce. However, for water I use Nifl Mist (Mizutsune), for Thunder it's Arm Cannon X (Dazzling + Thunder Rapid Fire and Pierce Thunder), for ice no contest IMO it's the Jawbreaker (Zamtrios, it has internal Freeze 2, Freeze Pierce 1 + 2, rapid fires both elemental pierce shots, and can still shoot a decent variety of other ammo). As for Dragon, the Nakarkos is tempting, but I do like my Dragon element LBG to be a bit more versatile so I'm going with the Shagaru Magala LBG, Le Condamnateur. With this one I take Dragon Att +2 and Pierce Up because it can fire regular Dragon, has internal Dragon 2, and rapid fires Pierce 2. This one is great for shredding a lot of monsters with weaknesses to Dragon.
I love the look of the one at the end. Both the ammo it can carry and the appearance. I never actually picked up generations but i loved light bowgun in the other games once i got the option for the reload skill. Hate rapid firing, its just not for me. Mass reloads though are what make light worth it for me.
I didn't see anyone mentioned an incredible LBG : Blessed Lamp, which is made by Chameleos. This Bowgun initially have 140 attack plus 30% affinity, and average Recoil. The most amazing part is this bowgun can load all kinds of ammo, while it's also have 3 slots. The worst part is this weapon don't have powerful internal ammo, and no rapid fire. However, it still one of my favorite weapon it the beginning period. (All material comes from Guild LR4 quest.)
Savage Jho lbg is best dragon lbg, sure it uses lv1 dragon, but you already have all 3 loaded, so no need for load up, the dragon is on rapid 3, so bonus shot gives you 4 shots. So the set you want is bonus shot, elemental up, dragon atk +2, and ammo saver if you can get it in. That is the perfect kushala lockdown set.
Some solid picks. Not a big fan of the handling on the Kushala gun. Some of the leading causes of accidental gunner deaths are bad recoil and bad reload speed. Deviation is kind of an annoyance as well. I find that most of the lbgs in this game are good, but not as flashy as the ones in 4U unfortunately. I found a nifty little set combining the Stone Fist armor with Vayu Sedition. The gun has 252 damage with the long barrel. The armor drops the recoil while bubble and crisis makes for a nice offense/defense combo. With food and buffs your damage can easily go over 300. The gun also has slicing rounds, which I have used to chop off tails. As well as triblast, which I have used to ko some monsters. Its a stupid strong set and between the weapons two slots and a talisman you can gem in another skill. There is also the seregios auto reload on evade. I normally use it in guild for some scoot and shoot action.
i gota admit the Lost Musket (Eldra Musket in MHG so far, at least for the lower level versions) is probably my favorite LBG even though mine is only lvl 2...it DOES blow stuff up easy, between Triblast, Cannon and Crag Shot
I know it's technically not as good as Astalos (and probably not quite as good as Kirin, either), but I LOVE the Demonlord Cannon (Furious Rajang gun). It only has lvl 2 thunder internal for elemental damage, although it also has the nice demon armor S and 10/2 cannonlvl2 shots, and 4 blast lvl1 (with 2 shot rapid fire). It also has thunder 1 on rapid. The damage is very high (and the extra shots, while not piercing thunder, are fun supporty ones), but you have to run precision+1 instead of something like haphazard, which gimps your damage a fair amount. On the other hand, a lot of your damage is thunder 1, not 2, so it's not too bad (although, in that case you can still argue you're giving up bonus shot, etc.) for precision... in any case, it's a needed skill to deal with the LR major deviation, which you'd like to spend on something else). Like I said, not optimal, but a lot of fun and a serviceable thunder gun.
I did notice something about the light bowguns in gen, there is only 1 bowgun that rapid fires pellets lv2 but it has a horrible clip size, I was kind of hoping to be able to make a good aerial shot gun kit, making use of the fact that its pellet at close range and blasting whatever is below you.

i use the lost musket with the seltas gunner armor,which has if i remember correctly artillery and ammo-saver ..and i have to say its SO FRICKING FABOLOUS. you stun every monster at least one or two times (if u aim for the head). and its like..just...wow.. i love that gun.
i really enjoy my bone nakarkos lbg, rapid fire crag YES, triblast with 3 in the mag so you can stun a monster without reloading YES. triblast has a total of 75 stun for each shot. and to top it all of rapid fore pierce
I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves that gun. Rapid fire pierce 2 is solid for everyday damage, but you also get good paralysis which combos into the triblast perfectly. I use long shot to fill up the hunter gauge, full house III, then paralyze the monster and then triple triblast to the face will usually KO. It's pretty safe to use online too, unless you're playing with hammer or horn users
I`ll admit it, although I think the Arm Cannon is fantastic, I made it it mainly because I became a great fan of Metroid for the Prime series. Also I like the Fatalis LBW wich looks like a parasol, I like it as well.
Anyone has a recommendation for a starting bowgun? Like... a really early-game bowgun set and weapon? (I'm mainly swordmaster but mhgen made me want to try bowgun even more than i did before... i'm training in the demo for when i get the game but it would be great to know what to aim for when i get it :) also the type of bowgun is the LBG)
I prefer the Plesi LBG (Maelstrom) over the Mizu one. slightly stronger, has 1 Slot, comes with P. Water 1 & 2, and also Rapids the P. Water 2. Mizu has good Pierce/Normal to fall back on, but Plesi has great Normal 2 and things should be dead by then anyways. the Silverwind LBG is also a great Raw choice. Rapids Pierce 1 and starts with 40% Aff. Simply add in Crit Boost and Weakness Exploit and you're a Crit machine (since Pierce 1 actually works well with Weak Ex unlike lv2 & 3).
Why aren't the pierce guns included? I mean, in my opinion pierce feels like the strongest choice (apart from elemental with right set up ofc) if you have no negative affinity/positive affinity. With the Daybreak's gaze, you have instant 40% affinity on top of a pierce rapid fire. Which basically means that 2 out of 5 hits are going to deal a quater more damage. Even more if you got crit-boost (Silverwind Armor set). To me, the pierce just seems way more satisfying to use than a simple elemental shot...
The Vayu seditious is probably my favorite just because slicing shots and one shot auto reload not to mention 240 attack. I am surprised you didn't put this as an honorable mention.
I found a good list on reddit: Triblast gives a motion value of 3 BUT it deals 3x (25 Fixed damage + 25 Fire + 25 Stun). So basically 75 damage plus stun if you manage to hit the head. The fire is just a really nice extra on top.
Can I give some explanation as to why people would prefer Ammo Saver over Bonus Shot? I feel like the latter would be better for being consistent, but I dont know the numbers exactly.
Well for one, its easier to gem overall, and there aren't and good armors with significant points into Rapid Fire this time around. Meanwhile, there are at least 4-5 sets that come to mind for Ammo Saver (not to mention the ridiculous Vaik S waist). Not to mention you'll pretty much be putting out the same amount of shots either way. You save around 1/3 of your shots with Ammo Saver, versus getting one extra shot with Bonus Shot. Here's what I see if we're talking standard rapid elemental. 1 bullet = 3 shots 60 bullets total = 180 shots If I save roughly a 3rd, (20 bullets) thats a free 60 shots for a total of 240 instead of 180, vs Bonus Shot's total of 240 (60x4). Shot-wise I would say they're basically equal (unless of course you get lucky and save slightly more than a third of your shots). Plus, unlike with Bonus Shot, you don't have to suffer a longer animation in some cases.
Jota With a decent talisman you can make a rather strong set with both skills plus bomb boost and loading, all you need is loading 8 rapid fire 3 with 1 slots (for bombardier Jewels) the choose EX Brach head and arms, the seltas vest, ceanataur coat R, and Sororol legings you have 1 slot in the armor and 1 slot in the talisman both for bombardier Jewels, and the set works, so the skill list would be Rapid fire Ammo saver Bomb boost Loading And 215 defense at max level, all in all maybe more for longer hunts with multiple monsters but if your in a sleep bomb room with a good sleep gun with a good rapid shot this set seems viable. And all in all I doubt it's all that hard to make, none of the monsters are very difficult
Bonus shot wins against ammo saver if you are using the rapid fire pierce-elemental shots. One extra shot is better than 20% of saving a shot. That said ammo saver is very easier to get and bonus shot leaves you open more time. With non e-pierce rapid fire sets you can just rotate your best shots and then use the full reload art.

No love for the Skeletal bowgun? It's got fine raw, a really flexible spread of shot types, and can rapid fire pierce 2. It's pretty much the only gun I use now because of just how well in performs in basically every situation.
the nakarkoss one he showed in the video, is basically the skeletal gun. edit: nvm, its not I was wrong, but yeah, the skeletal gun is one of my favorites, Triblast is fuckn amaze balls.

For progression, upgrade that to the normal nargacuga lbg and finally, get the silverwind nargacuga lbg, but hold on to the normal one til you lvl up the silverwind one enough...
hey gaijin, i recently acquired both Demon's Isle and God's Isle and saw that they both have different ammos. God's isle have access to lvl w sleep and paralyze while Demon's Isle have access to both as well as lvl 2 rapid. Also, Demon's Isle loses to God's Isle by a mere 20 attack power. So can the Demon's Isle possibly equal God's Isle?
I'm curious why Blossomayhem gets no love. It has solid attack, three slots, and comes with a rapid fire s that has a default of 4 shots without any armor skills needed. Has a solid clip of fire pierce 2 and fire s 2. Doesn't rapidfire either, but considering pierce requires good angles to be most effective, I tend to prefer rapid fire on basic elemental shots anyway.
what about Mysterius husk 4? Its an amazing gun... gots 9-8-9 normal, 6-5-5 Pierce, triblast, crag/clust 3, Dragon and even paralisys! and it shynes even more with rapid fire pierce 2 (3 shots). for me, its the best overall lbg, despite the elemental focused ones when used right.
is Night Owl viable for an affinity build? crit up, chain crit, and expert+3 armor skills with Night Owl for 95% affinity. would this be comperable to element, ice/fire/whatever up+2, and true shot up for elemental LBG? I've used elemental for most of high rank in the hub, and now I'm wanting to branch out and try new and interesting things with LBG, so would this sort of affinity build be good enough to try instead of elemental?
It's more the dargon bowguns in general. Dragon S is different from other elemental shots in a couple ways. One is ammo capacity. You can carry 3 shots with you into the quest, and the materials to make 10 more. Second is that Dragon S is basically a pierce element shot from the start, which means it deals several hits as it moves through the monster. It works well against big dragon monsters, but you need to choose your angle well and get the timing right to make the most of it, it's not something you can just spam all hunt.

No. It's actually very ez. U shoot, reload, shoot, reload, shoot the monster with status shots( if it has any), rinse and repeat. LBG is good for dealing out elemental and status damage, so make sure the LBG can rapid fire any elemental shots. If your going for a good style I'll suggest either guild or adept( personally adept)
Not really. The big change will be that you don't have to charge your shots, and that you will need to keep tabs on your ammunition count. My suggestion is to pick a LBG with Normal Lv2 ammo usable, and pack a full stack of Huskberries and Needleberries as part of your standard item kit so that if you run out, you can make some more. (1 Huskberry + 1 Needleberry = 3 to 5 Normal Lv2 ammo)
i came here to find what bowgun to go for after finding a bowgun via mining, only to find out that the God's Isle is as amazing as i thought. RNG has screwed me in past games but handing me this amazing weapon is a nice change of pace.
In the online, I wish the game announces the best fighter with highest damage dealt and gives more reward. Its a good competitive factor between players.
Gunner newb here: can someone explain what how Normal/Pierce/Pellet etc ammo works with LBGs with internal ammo? As I understand it, the gun won't load any ammo I bring with me, only the internal ammo provided. If I've got the Arm Cannon X (at @6.46, how do I ever equip Para, or Paint etc?
how to you guys break tails off with a lbg? I always try aiming for it the entire battle till it's pretty beat up then switch to slicing ammo to finish the job but the monster just dies before that happens... am I doing something wrong?

For those of you wanting a slicing shot LBG go with the Zinogre line (Usurpers crime at lvl1) it is by far the best slicing LBG in the game

It also has some limited support ability with Demon and Armor shot as part of its internal ammo, and also comes with Flame Shot LV2 and Dragon Shot LV2, which is helpful since Alatreon seems to stay in his Ice/Thunder form more, at least in my experience. It even has some Slicing Shot LV2 to boot! Recoil and reload speed are middle of the road as well, and no deviation either.
Edit: I'm also a huge fan of Daybreak's Gaze. Above average reload, medium recoil, no deviation, 200 attack, 40% affinity, Pierce 1 on rapid with 5 rounds per clip, and a sizable number of Slicing S LV1 and LV2 shots, plus Demon shot for a little support.
a light bowgun that should be an honorable mention, is the cephadrome light bowgun. because while as a normal shot lightbowgun it gets outclassed by kushala's in everyway. but on the birghtside you can finish the gun as soon as you unlock hyper monsters and the gun itself hits pretty decently

I personally go to the zinogre LBG for thunder. I'm fully aware that the astalos gun does more elemental in the long run, but I personally prefer the zinogre guns looks and raw output with a small sliver of affinity just for good measure. its probably easier to get a set working for the astalos gun than the zinogre, but oh well for me I guess.
My personal preference set up general is Elemental Att +2, True Shot Up and Bonus Shot, as I'm very picky about my internal ammos and rapid fires in MHGen. Can't make any of my personal choices for the Fire LBG right now (DLC Gold/Silver options) so I'm using the Glavenus LBG, but that lacks internal Fire Pierce. However, for water I use Nifl Mist (Mizutsune), for Thunder it's Arm Cannon X (Dazzling + Thunder Rapid Fire and Pierce Thunder), for ice no contest IMO it's the Jawbreaker (Zamtrios, it has internal Freeze 2, Freeze Pierce 1 + 2, rapid fires both elemental pierce shots, and can still shoot a decent variety of other ammo). As for Dragon, the Nakarkos is tempting, but I do like my Dragon element LBG to be a bit more versatile so I'm going with the Shagaru Magala LBG, Le Condamnateur. With this one I take Dragon Att +2 and Pierce Up because it can fire regular Dragon, has internal Dragon 2, and rapid fires Pierce 2. This one is great for shredding a lot of monsters with weaknesses to Dragon.

I love the look of the one at the end. Both the ammo it can carry and the appearance. I never actually picked up generations but i loved light bowgun in the other games once i got the option for the reload skill. Hate rapid firing, its just not for me. Mass reloads though are what make light worth it for me.
I didn't see anyone mentioned an incredible LBG : Blessed Lamp, which is made by Chameleos. This Bowgun initially have 140 attack plus 30% affinity, and average Recoil. The most amazing part is this bowgun can load all kinds of ammo, while it's also have 3 slots. The worst part is this weapon don't have powerful internal ammo, and no rapid fire. However, it still one of my favorite weapon it the beginning period. (All material comes from Guild LR4 quest.)
Savage Jho lbg is best dragon lbg, sure it uses lv1 dragon, but you already have all 3 loaded, so no need for load up, the dragon is on rapid 3, so bonus shot gives you 4 shots. So the set you want is bonus shot, elemental up, dragon atk +2, and ammo saver if you can get it in. That is the perfect kushala lockdown set.

Some solid picks. Not a big fan of the handling on the Kushala gun. Some of the leading causes of accidental gunner deaths are bad recoil and bad reload speed. Deviation is kind of an annoyance as well. I find that most of the lbgs in this game are good, but not as flashy as the ones in 4U unfortunately. I found a nifty little set combining the Stone Fist armor with Vayu Sedition. The gun has 252 damage with the long barrel. The armor drops the recoil while bubble and crisis makes for a nice offense/defense combo. With food and buffs your damage can easily go over 300. The gun also has slicing rounds, which I have used to chop off tails. As well as triblast, which I have used to ko some monsters. Its a stupid strong set and between the weapons two slots and a talisman you can gem in another skill. There is also the seregios auto reload on evade. I normally use it in guild for some scoot and shoot action.

i gota admit the Lost Musket (Eldra Musket in MHG so far, at least for the lower level versions) is probably my favorite LBG even though mine is only lvl 2...it DOES blow stuff up easy, between Triblast, Cannon and Crag Shot
I know it's technically not as good as Astalos (and probably not quite as good as Kirin, either), but I LOVE the Demonlord Cannon (Furious Rajang gun). It only has lvl 2 thunder internal for elemental damage, although it also has the nice demon armor S and 10/2 cannonlvl2 shots, and 4 blast lvl1 (with 2 shot rapid fire). It also has thunder 1 on rapid.
The damage is very high (and the extra shots, while not piercing thunder, are fun supporty ones), but you have to run precision+1 instead of something like haphazard, which gimps your damage a fair amount. On the other hand, a lot of your damage is thunder 1, not 2, so it's not too bad (although, in that case you can still argue you're giving up bonus shot, etc.) for precision... in any case, it's a needed skill to deal with the LR major deviation, which you'd like to spend on something else).
Like I said, not optimal, but a lot of fun and a serviceable thunder gun.
I did notice something about the light bowguns in gen, there is only 1 bowgun that rapid fires pellets lv2 but it has a horrible clip size, I was kind of hoping to be able to make a good aerial shot gun kit, making use of the fact that its pellet at close range and blasting whatever is below you.

i really enjoy my bone nakarkos lbg, rapid fire crag YES, triblast with 3 in the mag so you can stun a monster without reloading YES. triblast has a total of 75 stun for each shot. and to top it all of rapid fore pierce
I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves that gun. Rapid fire pierce 2 is solid for everyday damage, but you also get good paralysis which combos into the triblast perfectly. I use long shot to fill up the hunter gauge, full house III, then paralyze the monster and then triple triblast to the face will usually KO. It's pretty safe to use online too, unless you're playing with hammer or horn users
I`ll admit it, although I think the Arm Cannon is fantastic, I made it it mainly because I became a great fan of Metroid for the Prime series. Also I like the Fatalis LBW wich looks like a parasol, I like it as well.
Anyone has a recommendation for a starting bowgun? Like... a really early-game bowgun set and weapon? (I'm mainly swordmaster but mhgen made me want to try bowgun even more than i did before... i'm training in the demo for when i get the game but it would be great to know what to aim for when i get it :) also the type of bowgun is the LBG)
The Great Maccao is pretty good for the early levels not to mention it upgrades into ok weapons as well

I prefer the Plesi LBG (Maelstrom) over the Mizu one. slightly stronger, has 1 Slot, comes with P. Water 1 & 2, and also Rapids the P. Water 2. Mizu has good Pierce/Normal to fall back on, but Plesi has great Normal 2 and things should be dead by then anyways.
the Silverwind LBG is also a great Raw choice. Rapids Pierce 1 and starts with 40% Aff. Simply add in Crit Boost and Weakness Exploit and you're a Crit machine (since Pierce 1 actually works well with Weak Ex unlike lv2 & 3).

The lobster light bowgun is really good too, it's as versatile as the chemelos bowgun, but better.

Why aren't the pierce guns included? I mean, in my opinion pierce feels like the strongest choice (apart from elemental with right set up ofc) if you have no negative affinity/positive affinity. With the Daybreak's gaze, you have instant 40% affinity on top of a pierce rapid fire. Which basically means that 2 out of 5 hits are going to deal a quater more damage. Even more if you got crit-boost (Silverwind Armor set).
To me, the pierce just seems way more satisfying to use than a simple elemental shot...

my two favourite light bowguns of all time is the Tigrex Tank (who wouldnt want a portable mini tank), and the kettleblower ^.^
The Vayu seditious is probably my favorite just because slicing shots and one shot auto reload not to mention 240 attack. I am surprised you didn't put this as an honorable mention.
For slicing shot go with the Usurpers crime line (Zinogre) it is by far the best slicing LBG in the game.

if you like normal shots, you should use the tail string... 9 clip capacity for lv1 and 2. sadly it cannot use lv 3 shots though.
What are the motion values for Crag shots and Triple blast? Seeing how there are only 5 triple blast shots in most guns, it must be pretty strong.
I found a good list on reddit: Triblast gives a motion value of 3 BUT it deals 3x (25 Fixed damage + 25 Fire + 25 Stun). So basically 75 damage plus stun if you manage to hit the head. The fire is just a really nice extra on top.

What about the Amatsu LBG? It can rapid-fire all the LV1 Elemental shots.
Can I give some explanation as to why people would prefer Ammo Saver over Bonus Shot? I feel like the latter would be better for being consistent, but I dont know the numbers exactly.

Well for one, its easier to gem overall, and there aren't and good armors with significant points into Rapid Fire this time around. Meanwhile, there are at least 4-5 sets that come to mind for Ammo Saver (not to mention the ridiculous Vaik S waist). Not to mention you'll pretty much be putting out the same amount of shots either way. You save around 1/3 of your shots with Ammo Saver, versus getting one extra shot with Bonus Shot. Here's what I see if we're talking standard rapid elemental.
1 bullet = 3 shots
60 bullets total = 180 shots
If I save roughly a 3rd, (20 bullets) thats a free 60 shots for a total of 240 instead of 180, vs Bonus Shot's total of 240 (60x4).
Shot-wise I would say they're basically equal (unless of course you get lucky and save slightly more than a third of your shots). Plus, unlike with Bonus Shot, you don't have to suffer a longer animation in some cases.
Jota With a decent talisman you can make a rather strong set with both skills plus bomb boost and loading, all you need is loading 8 rapid fire 3 with 1 slots (for bombardier Jewels) the choose EX Brach head and arms, the seltas vest, ceanataur coat R, and Sororol legings you have 1 slot in the armor and 1 slot in the talisman both for bombardier Jewels, and the set works, so the skill list would be
Rapid fire
Ammo saver
Bomb boost
Loading
And 215 defense at max level, all in all maybe more for longer hunts with multiple monsters but if your in a sleep bomb room with a good sleep gun with a good rapid shot this set seems viable. And all in all I doubt it's all that hard to make, none of the monsters are very difficult
Bonus shot wins against ammo saver if you are using the rapid fire pierce-elemental shots. One extra shot is better than 20% of saving a shot. That said ammo saver is very easier to get and bonus shot leaves you open more time.
With non e-pierce rapid fire sets you can just rotate your best shots and then use the full reload art.

No love for the Skeletal bowgun? It's got fine raw, a really flexible spread of shot types, and can rapid fire pierce 2. It's pretty much the only gun I use now because of just how well in performs in basically every situation.
the nakarkoss one he showed in the video, is basically the skeletal gun.
edit: nvm, its not I was wrong, but yeah, the skeletal gun is one of my favorites, Triblast is fuckn amaze balls.

For progression, upgrade that to the normal nargacuga lbg and
finally, get the silverwind nargacuga lbg, but hold on to the normal one til you lvl up the silverwind one enough...
hey gaijin, i recently acquired both Demon's Isle and God's Isle and saw that they both have different ammos. God's isle have access to lvl w sleep and paralyze while Demon's Isle have access to both as well as lvl 2 rapid. Also, Demon's Isle loses to God's Isle by a mere 20 attack power. So can the Demon's Isle possibly equal God's Isle?

I'm curious why Blossomayhem gets no love. It has solid attack, three slots, and comes with a rapid fire s that has a default of 4 shots without any armor skills needed. Has a solid clip of fire pierce 2 and fire s 2. Doesn't rapidfire either, but considering pierce requires good angles to be most effective, I tend to prefer rapid fire on basic elemental shots anyway.
I like the Chameleos LBG and Silver wind LBG. Chameleos LBG is the great all rounder and SW is best pierce imo.

what about Mysterius husk 4? Its an amazing gun... gots 9-8-9 normal, 6-5-5 Pierce, triblast, crag/clust 3, Dragon and even paralisys! and it shynes even more with rapid fire pierce 2 (3 shots).
for me, its the best overall lbg, despite the elemental focused ones when used right.
is Night Owl viable for an affinity build? crit up, chain crit, and expert+3 armor skills with Night Owl for 95% affinity. would this be comperable to element, ice/fire/whatever up+2, and true shot up for elemental LBG? I've used elemental for most of high rank in the hub, and now I'm wanting to branch out and try new and interesting things with LBG, so would this sort of affinity build be good enough to try instead of elemental?
kettleblower is my alltime favorite lbg support. tho i was sure it had lvl 2 para and poison shots on previous games.

Couldn't tell you, never used it. Dragon is an ehhh element anyways, but my Ala GS has a shit ton.
It's more the dargon bowguns in general. Dragon S is different from other elemental shots in a couple ways. One is ammo capacity. You can carry 3 shots with you into the quest, and the materials to make 10 more. Second is that Dragon S is basically a pierce element shot from the start, which means it deals several hits as it moves through the monster. It works well against big dragon monsters, but you need to choose your angle well and get the timing right to make the most of it, it's not something you can just spam all hunt.
I may have asked this before and probably an obvious answer, but do Element Pierce shots benefit from Pierce Up or just elemental buffs?
Trueshot Up and Elemental buffs boost them, other stuff like Pierce/Normal Up has no effect
Considering speed runners apparently use pierce up, It has to boost something. I think it only boosts the raw damage that comes from the shots though.

No. It's actually very ez. U shoot, reload, shoot, reload, shoot the monster with status shots( if it has any), rinse and repeat. LBG is good for dealing out elemental and status damage, so make sure the LBG can rapid fire any elemental shots. If your going for a good style I'll suggest either guild or adept( personally adept)
Not really. The big change will be that you don't have to charge your shots, and that you will need to keep tabs on your ammunition count.
My suggestion is to pick a LBG with Normal Lv2 ammo usable, and pack a full stack of Huskberries and Needleberries as part of your standard item kit so that if you run out, you can make some more. (1 Huskberry + 1 Needleberry = 3 to 5 Normal Lv2 ammo)

Gunner newb here: can someone explain what how Normal/Pierce/Pellet etc ammo works with LBGs with internal ammo? As I understand it, the gun won't load any ammo I bring with me, only the internal ammo provided. If I've got the Arm Cannon X (at @6.46, how do I ever equip Para, or Paint etc?

Do armor and demon shots affect monster still, I never use them when the monster is in the area.
Demon and Armour are buffs for OTHER hunters.

how to you guys break tails off with a lbg? I always try aiming for it the entire battle till it's pretty beat up then switch to slicing ammo to finish the job but the monster just dies before that happens... am I doing something wrong?
