im a dual blade user and i love my bomber, yes he knocks me around at times but i love him anyway, reason i always use a bomber is because when i first played monster hunter ((4 ultimate)) i was testing out different palicos and i hunted a rathian with a bomber, i didn't know what to expect but i just see it run into the rathians face kamikaze style with a mega barrel bomb on it then as the monster tried to fly away he used flying-f bomb and knocked it out of the air, and every since then i loved bomber cats.
I guess im asking randomly but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
I've actually had some fun and success using bomb palicos as a melee hunter. Using adept style, you can make use of bomb explosions to throw out more adept attacks. Especially useful against monsters with big openings or ones that don't attack enough or in ways that allow good use of adept style. It does need you to pay more attention to your palicos though.
Last night I had someone join a room as a healer cat and spend almost the whole fight sitting right outside the zone and occasionally coming in to do a health horn. I understand their rationale a little more now, but it sure made the fight take a lot longer than if they had just been hitting the monster with us...
Might have been a newer player or one not confident in their palico skills, might have taken longer but it seems like a nice alternative to them getting themselves killed and hurting your rewards, at least they helped survival be easier
"It only tells you the direction the monster is facing and its mood." It also gives the detail of what classification it is. This means that you can easily find your target monster and not the Savage Deviljho waiting for you in one of the other zones. It's not gonna save it, but it's great to finding the target monster and not the inevitable Unstable Spawn.
Eh, good hunters usually know where there monster spawns within reason, I can tell you where ever Dreadqueen Rathian spawns up till lvl 6. I know where a monster can/should be and if there is a wild spawn then I can usually tell the difference. All being able to see the monster does is increase a 90% chance you know where it spawned up to a 100% chance. I wish monsterdar had been given trapper so we can see when the monster is ready to be captured
If Monsterdar is on a palico it will announce various things about the monster in chat, like when the monster is tired, when a paint bomb is about to wear off, and when it can be capture. Though in my experience while it always does the first 2 if it is not KO'ed. The third for me only happens about 90% of the time.
I'm a hunter, I always know when the monster is tired, I'm a cat I don't need paint, and after using a cat for a while you can just tell when a monster is capture ready based on your gauge
Pally_den Oh my bad, I thought you meant it does that stuff as prowler, OK so it is useful for your palico to use monsterdar sometimes, gaijin hunter thanks for commenting, I never would have realized this had you not replyed to the thread!
You really should have included the Passive rate at which the support gauge feels for each of them, which is separate from their Bonus. For example, while Assist cats gain more from Boomerang combos, their passive rate is slow; for comparison, the Gathering Cat has the standard rate for all attacking combos but has a really high passive rate which allows it to build up gauge as fast, if not slightly faster than the Assist cat.
Also, because of that, the only real difference between the Assist and Gathering cats in combat is, the slightly lower defense for the gathering cat and not having access to a poison pitfall trap, while having access to a ranged stealing attack. Everything else the Gathering cat can have or be taught.
gaijin hunter Proper information is important. While the passive rate doesn't amount to much if you just sit around doing nothing(except for Healing cats), it is helpful when combined with other ways in which the gauge increases; whether it be with bonuses or when combined with the normal rate from attacking.
We will have to agree to disagree. I specifically omit certain pieces of info as people looking for a high level understanding will only be confused by the numbers. If it takes 130-200 seconds for a single gauge to increase, I don't find that important for a high level overview of the differences of each type. Yes, they do matter and I would include them in a more detailed rundown for each cat maybe, but after a long time of using the cats I never found it to be that crucial, but that is just me ^^
If your support gauge as Assist is generating slower than Gathering in combat, you're simply not attacking enough. It takes about 10-12 boomerangs to increase gauge by 1 for assist. Only Prot Prowler charges faster than Assist. (maybe melee for Fighter/Charisma can match, but in actual combat situations, Assist would still charge faster thanks to needing to reposition less)
Random comment here. Just wanted to say I've been watching you since you recorded the screen with a camera. You've improved so much man you're the number one source for guides on monster Hunter and I appreciate all your content!! Thanks for doing what you do.
I don't Though most of teh time I have to tell them to change to hunter since they don't even have good skills. Like for example dung bomb, the crappy healing horn, emergency retreat and maybe even palico rally. I have yet to find a cat with proper skill and ability set.
Dung Bombay is actually useful, as Prowlers can be pinned and some people can't easily get to there own Dung Bombs quick enough. Plus if a monster shows up that you aren't hunting, it's easier for a Prowler to run over, dung bomb it and go back to attacking than a hunter. Emergency Retreat is a great skill as it lets you heal yourself a bit while avoiding attacks for a bit.
those 2 skills are fine but if the rest of the skills also isn't contributing to damage output or really good support with traps and healing etc. they are worthless as you could better play as a hunter then.
Palico Rally can't be removed for Charisma prowlers. Herb Horn is used as free self-healing, Dung Bombay has a lot of uses, and Emergency Retreat is standard. As long as they have Big/Piercing Boomeragns, it should be fine.
I'm glad Gaijin is making some videos to show off and explain Prowlers and I hope more people who don't play them or looks down on them find their way to these videos. If people just learn a bit about how they work and what makes a good Prowler setup then there might be less people going around kicking cats that have legit builds from lobbies in the future.
Yeah It's a real shame. I've been lucky enough to only having been kicked a couple of times, but I'm sure people pass up rooms hosted by Prowlers aswell. Feels like it always takes longer to get people to join whenever I host as a Prowler.
I personally don't play as a prowler but mad respect to people who do, a lot of them are great! It's like when people use a certain weapon and you can never gauge how good or bad they are just from a glance, it's very mean and I hope people can start being more accepting of prowlers soon!!!
Just wanted to say thanks for the info, I've only really had time to look in to the heal cats and fighting. I love how much people underestimate cats, feels so good when you are the one carrying everyone and they don't expect you to
Can you make a tutorial of all the palico stuff? I mean like all the unlocks of the palico ranch (includes the trader cat and the meownster hunters) and maybe the bonuses they get when using them to trade or fight a monster. ( I heard that you get more from the trader if you trade with a charisma cat or more from the meownster hunters if you send a assist cat)
on mewnster hunters you get an extra item if you hit a circle with a cat that has the same color it shows which material is boosted by which color in the little circle in the corner of the icon when you select the destination not really sure on the trading part though
Man, I really wished they would let you scout a palico by both looks and bias. Having to pick one or the other is really annoying, because while with bias you'll get what you want a lot faster, you could end up with a really funky looking cat, while with looks you have to pray to RNGesus to save your soul to not search for eternity for the right combination of bias and skills.
I think we need to learn more about the Prowlers, like about the skill slots and stuff like that, no much information about it on the Internet. Thanks for the video~
How big of a DPS loss am I going to feel if I switch my boomerang prowler from a fighter to an assist cat? Will my hunt times start to drag? I just can't stand not being able to use Emergency Retreat as often when I'm getting sloppy and taking a bunch of damage.
I'd expect it to be a little longer but would it not be best to get an assist cat ready for trapping and such. Just about to start mine tbh so I don't know an awful lot about them since I've focused on fighting prowler and healing palico.
whats up Gaijin, man i have one question, i have the hyper materials scraps and everything to make R series weapons F Agnaktor Lance R for example, and it just dont show on the list of weapons i can make, do you know if i have to make a specific quest to unlock R weapons for Prowlers??
Some notes: - Since Palico Rally only buffs cats, it's a natural combo with Prowler mode (whether or not you are playing as the Charisma cat). It also prevents sub Palicoes from slacking off during the fight. - Health Harmonics does not give a +50 boost to Health -- it's +10 for Health Horn and +20 for True Health Horn (comparable to Nutrients / Mega Nutrients). Not as strong as MH4U's Purrtuoso (+40) but made up for if you can charge the Support Gauge quickly (having someone else play Cheer Horn or Go,Fight,Win helps obviously).
I Have a Healer Palico with (lvl 35 atm): *Moves: True Health Horn / Armor Horn / Detox Horn / Go, Fight, Win / Vase of Vitality / Dung Bombay / Soothing Roll *Skills: Earplugs / Negate Confusion / Defense Up (S) Not idea what people considere a perfect healer...but for me this is it. Dexot Horn is beautiful...the moment you get the poison your palico will cast detox horn (I swear) instantly, and I mean INSTANTLY.
I run with three Bomber Cats when soloing. Explosions everywhere! And as rare as it is, it looks really cool when we're on our tanks at the same time. XD
I've found Protector cats to be REALLY fun to use, and actually rather effective for focusing on close range attacks if that's what you are going for. Block an attack with Counter Boost equipped and you'll see that gauge go up by almost a whole segment, every timeEDIT: Okay, scratch that. . Retaliate either with your R+X combo starter(very useful as it hits high) or Felyne Comet, which with this setup becomes VERY spammable. I get very similar times between a boomerang cat and this close range cat, so it even does good damage compared to the current most popular build. It's also incredibly safe, because of Emergency Retreat being just as spammable and guarding just being a multipurpose tool that also happens to protect you from most attacks. Just don't go trying to block a beam without Guard Boost on(though with a cat's mobility, that should be a non-issue too)
You are wrong about monsterdar. It wont show you on the map if you can capture, but if you have it set as a palico they will have a chat message that will tell you when it can be captured. It will also tell you when your paintball is about to wear off and when the monster is tired. It can be useful for low rank capture monsters so you don't kill it
Any chance you have info on Rath of Meow damage? I've been looking around and just cannot find the raw numbers, to figure out if Bombay boost or support priority would be more beneficial overall.
any tips or new video about hyper monsters? They seem to hit as hard, if not harder than deviants... For group play it's not too big a deal, but solo makes them a bit of a pain. Is palico a viable solo method for hypers?
I currently have access to Last Stand but I'm not sure I want to put it on my perfect prowler, I heard there was a DLC cat skill that everyone seems to think is better. Is it possible to overwrite a taught skill with a new one or would I be locked out of the DLC one if I went with Last Stand now?
The way I understood it from other guides, the Healing type gets support gauge by not fighting (or at least keeping distance from) the monster as opposed to being in a different area. So you should set their target to not Small Only so they won't fight big monsters (but will clean up small fry for you).
does the gauge work the same for palicos? Like if i have 2 healing bias cats and if i where to swap them out with protection cats, would that make the 2 palicos use their support moves more? Im really confused by all this. XD
D'aaaaaw your little girl in yhe backgrounds for the bloopers is so adorable! Thank you for this video BTW, I am a veteran player but paid little to no attention to prowler besides gathering which im.ashamed of XD
Is Rath of Meow worth it? It looks so cool, and I've been trying to decide whether a blocking or assisting cat is best to use it on. Also do you know if the bomb boost passive increases the power of its shots? Can't wait for Star Fox DLC with Landmaster passive.
Hey there. I've been doing some tests in MHGen concerning the main target of your palicos - Large Only, Large First, Balanced, Small Only, and Small First. All I've noticed is that the target options with "only" in it seem to be the same as the options with "first" in it. The only variation being in what order the palicos attack monsters. For example, I took a palico with small only and small first. Both palicos stopped attacking the large monster when a small monster appeared in the room. I expected them to only attack the small monsters and completely ignore the large monster. But with no small monsters in the room, they went after the large monster. and here I was thinking I could make a healer palico that spends more time healing me than fighting. So, does anyone have any other conclusive results on how targets work? I've been looking around the internet for info but I usually end up back at Gaijin's guides.
Kaligraphy22 They use support moves randomely(sort of, they will heal you when you have low health). I use large only as it helps take down the monster faster, but its up to preferance.
Nathalie Mykløy So no way to stop them from attacking a large monster? swore my friend's palico was standing and hiswing at a monster and not attacking. Also if Small First/Only doesn't do anything other make them switch to small monsters when they appear, what's the point of having those two options to begin with? Why not just Small, Balanced and Large?

Kaligraphy22 So the small minions die instead of interrupting you. Also, cats randomly do stuff like only hissing at the monster and slacking. Slacking can be prevented by having high-max enthusiasm. How you get it is by just letting the cats relax at the dojo. Might take some time though.
I am happy I can scout for Palicos from the start, unlike in 4U, where you got the first one, some dlc cats, and until you got anywhere in the village quests, nuttin' else. BTW, how do I increase the level at which the cats I scout are? I'm in village 5 now, but still only HR 1. Trying to rush through village when I can, not unlocking whole lot any more though, and where my dern other trade options? I thought that by getting through village, I could trade with more than just the plant farm, or am I now at an online road block (Tell me so I can redirect my efforts)? Are people still doing Low Rank to raise up people, or should I solo Low Rank (I have lvl 3 Tetsucabra Armor, with Vitality Gems, and not too much in the weapon department either, to the point I might be under geared for 5 star village now)? (Wow, I am absolutely blowing y'all up Q & A aren't I? Sorry, still new to the series. #NoobLife)
Ive been thinking of bringing a defense palico along with my healer on solo hunts. Are there any particular skills or moves you would recommend having on one as a palico?
So I don't really understand wht should be the best palicos to have. I usually bring heal to give me some extra hp now and then, but they heal me just once or twice a hunt. It's really a small amount of heal. I've put the Okami set on an offense cat, but It doesn't seams to do much damage. So defense is the best one? Just to attract the mob attention
I love what they have done with palicos in generations, I have spent hours scouting and leveling palicos and I have have some of the "perfect" ones that have been going around(NyantaleX, PoogieP etc) I'm trying to spread my palicos that I have found around also, such a cool feature in Generations.
gaijin hunter I have to ask the question. Exactly how many uses do you have with Prowler? I'm currently pushing almost 1600 and very confident in my abilities, I can give a fair amount of lessons in building a cat for a list a monsters. So much so I have a cat that can take down any and every monster. So I started a guide (on the board) on GameFAQs and got slammed on how I did it. It's fine though but I'm just curious if you could answer. I know you're a busy person but if you could get back at me it would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
So you guys know about "Choco" and "Jam" as being the "Best Attack Cats" in the game, right? I don't suppose that there's a means to know which cats are the best kinds for the other styles, is there?
since you released this video, and the fact that i can't find a valid answer on google.. what're the food skills you should be focused on getting? aside from trainer. like, does hurler skill affect boomerangs?
I enjoy collect cats as prowler, tend to use the big/Pierce boomerang combo and gathering at any point quickly fills the support gauge and enables me to activate those skills more frequently
Gaijin are you mainly using fighter or assist cat? I'm using fighter but i wonder if assist is a better choice because i rarely use melee attacks. What do you think?
so anyone have a list of approximately how much damage the offensive palico skills do? things like chestnut cannon vs. claw dance etc. I know some things are surprisingly weak like the mini barrel bomb which takes 5 uses to take out a low rank village kelbi (when using a bomber cat but no bombay boost).
bomber cat can be really nice for sleep bombing, I use one with the sleep mace from melfestio, you can sleep alot better than the plessns, but you have to live with not having emergency retreat. also, if done right you can do alot of KO and exhaust too. since you basically only need the pierce boomerang you can easily use the 3, or even 4 points barrel bomb after the hunters placed theirs. works great in a group hunt
Gaijin - I feel like the Protective Cat generates the counter gauge faster than the assist with boomerang attacks if attacking from a guardian position. I tested this theory and I think it is better than the assist by far. When you attack from blocking I did notice a slight increase, I am not sure if it was intentional or not, but I do get the counter full very quickly. Even with melee attacks from blocking, it seems to build fast. An attack after a block seems to go up more than a standard melee or boomerang. In most cases, I think the survival rate is better than the attack cat, for instance against Akantor, a protect cat with ranged attack up and big boomerangs and boomerang pro is the way to go. Have you tested this yet?
Question: In Meownster Hunter there is a grey colour (not secret but the one from ores and some other). Is there a type that gets double bonus (by matching colour)?
i like bringing healer palicos (at least 1) because they reduce my downtime, since i don't have to bother healing up (or removing poison) as often. less time spent with weapons sheathed and healing = more time smacking monsters.
Oddly, Charisma seems to have the same amount of support gauge charge from melee as Fighter on actual testing. I don't know if this was changed from MHX, since it makes no sense for charisma to have similar charge as fighter from melee, while being better at charging in any other way.
hey gaijin, ive got a question: im using 2 collect types, and ingame it states that the plunderang "as palico: steal from monsters. as prowler: more quest rewards" but they steal stuff all the time, if im on a gathering mission as hunter they attack random large monsters i pass by and i get their materials at the prowler loot screen, surely that was not "more quest rewards", as in quest rewards materials from that monster dont even show up... so what now, if i use them as prowlers do i get more quest rewards AND they steal stuff? im really confused about this system
Having Plunderang or Pilfer equipped allows Palicos to steal more items than cats without them, which equal more item overall via their loot screen. For Prowlers, those moves lets you steal a named item(Tetsucabra Item if you steal from a Tetsucabra) that you can have up to 3 of for that type of monster; during the reward screen, the items will be appraised and will change, at random, into any of the items that can normally be carved from that monster(at that rank). This gives you essentially up to 3 more carves than you'd normally get. While any cat can get Pilfer, it is limited to melee and is less effective than Plunderang, which is ranged. Also, if playing as a cat while online, with either of these skills, when you steal and item, the red shiny shows up on the screen of everyone else and they may gather to obtain a named item of that monster as well, essentially allowing everyone else to get up to 3 more carves worth of items.
Arhen Dante ah ok nice thanks. i've barely played as prowler, and there are a lot of hate around them apparently, so i didnt even touch loot type due to apparent lack in dmg AND versatility i dont dislike the system as much as i did when i first heard about it, and as for me i didnt experience bad prowlers or hate towards me playing one until now, but i read a lot bad stuff about it and dont feel like diving too deep into that because of there reasons
They actually do just as much damage as with Big & Piercing Boomerang as an Assit Trap, as far normal combos go, they just lack a poison trap and the natural ability to use pro trapper, they can still use other trapping moves. As for the hate towards prowlers as a whole, some people just think the prowlers have poor DPS while other's might just hate cats. But from my own experience and from what I've seen in rooms with other people playing as prowlers, there's a bigger issue; rooms that say they are ok with cats apparently mean 1 of 2 certain cats, with a specific set of moves and skills. Anyone else is either kicked or told to switch to hunter. The community is becoming kind of toxic about the cats and I don't blame you for keeping your distance. But I do suggest, that if you are ever soloing, having 2 gathering cats can help get you those rarer materials, as long as they aren't a break or tail carve only item.
So is the double boomerang palico set up really the best the palicos have? additionally, can they still compete with other set ups, like a melee focus or healing support?
I adore my Gather cat. Stealing, able to trap, deals decent damage. I was soloing offline with it until I got a good Assist cat. I still use my Steal cat when farming though.
Is it possible that Prowlers stat cap are varied? I have a lv50 fighter cat and equiped an ashen wishkers with 307 melee and 297 range, I met another lv 50 fighter cat equipping an ashen wishkers and he had 315 melee and 305 range and we both ate food (Not sure what He ate but I ate Dragon Salad for Attack L and felyne hurler), and both of our skill was attack up L.
Is pierce boomerang only available as an innate skill? I finnaly found the (almost) perfect cat, but it doesn't have that move. Is there a way to make him learn that skill?
If it is an assist type cat you can teach it by a Fighter palico,if your "wanna be prowler" is a Fighter...you have to scout againg or you can't have mergency reatreat
monsterdar saved my but many times, even though the effect as palico is random, it's works like Oracle in the beginning of the quest and randomly works like when you wave at the dragonseer. really useful for me
It does also let you know about if it's sleeping or not and on the hunts i need something like psychoserum my pouch is usually full, because of thunderlord i am carrying demondrugs and armorskins around
excellent video sir, this was incredibly helpful and i have learned more about the cat types and i use prowlers a lot. go nyan!!! p.s. those bloopers were hilarious :)
if i wanted to make a really overpowered prowler to play with what stats would i have to look for and how early should i start looking? if someone answers thank you in advance
Yes but the skill itself costs 5. And usually u don't want to equip that perk. He simpli made a mistake writing. This happens to everybody. I wrote that comment so he can add a note with the correct cost in the video :)
im a dual blade user and i love my bomber, yes he knocks me around at times but i love him anyway, reason i always use a bomber is because when i first played monster hunter ((4 ultimate)) i was testing out different palicos and i hunted a rathian with a bomber, i didn't know what to expect but i just see it run into the rathians face kamikaze style with a mega barrel bomb on it then as the monster tried to fly away he used flying-f bomb and knocked it out of the air, and every since then i loved bomber cats.
Your bomber palico : FOR MY HUNTER
hunter : its ...beutiful
I was about to leave the video when I heard your daughter laugh and that made me smile :3 she sounds absolutely adorable. Good video man!
I can't wait until gaijinhunter changes his name to gaijinprowler.
He should change the intro bit for the prowler guide. lol
+BM03 He did it!
+hikarinanao Haha, he did!!

I use a Healing w/ Big Boomerang, trust me, that person is a douche
those are leechers ur dealing with
that's like a hunting horn player that refuses to attack the monster and instead just keeps refreshing the buffs lol
Even if it at the cost of damage output, I usually equip my cats with Big and Piercing Boomerangs regardless of type.
Might have been a newer player or one not confident in their palico skills, might have taken longer but it seems like a nice alternative to them getting themselves killed and hurting your rewards, at least they helped survival be easier

I personally don't play as a prowler but mad respect to people who do, a lot of them are great! It's like when people use a certain weapon and you can never gauge how good or bad they are just from a glance, it's very mean and I hope people can start being more accepting of prowlers soon!!!
Those bloopers were nice.
( I heard that you get more from the trader if you trade with a charisma cat or more from the meownster hunters if you send a assist cat)
on mewnster hunters you get an extra item if you hit a circle with a cat that has the same color it shows which material is boosted by which color in the little circle in the corner of the icon when you select the destination
not really sure on the trading part though
Meownster hunters gather more if they are the same color as the resource you land on
Loved the bloopers! I'm not sure if everyone liked them, but I sure did!
I heard that Fighter cats have 7% more DPS than Assist cats but I'm not sure if the math is correct.
Some notes:
- Since Palico Rally only buffs cats, it's a natural combo with Prowler mode (whether or not you are playing as the Charisma cat).
I Have a Healer Palico with (lvl 35 atm):
*Moves: True Health Horn / Armor Horn / Detox Horn / Go, Fight, Win / Vase of Vitality / Dung Bombay / Soothing Roll
*Skills: Earplugs / Negate Confusion / Defense Up (S)
Not idea what people considere a perfect healer...but for me this is it. Dexot Horn is beautiful...the moment you get the poison your palico will cast detox horn (I swear) instantly, and I mean INSTANTLY.
Just hunter horn fungasax
I've been waiting for a video like this. Thank you.
I run with three Bomber Cats when soloing. Explosions everywhere! And as rare as it is, it looks really cool when we're on our tanks at the same time. XD
Really well explained, thank you...please continue to add bloopers at the end of tour videos, they're very funny!!
Just don't go trying to block a beam without Guard Boost on(though with a cat's mobility, that should be a non-issue too)
+gaijinhunter How do you get broken statues? I can't find them and I'm trying to level up my chameleos charge blade.
You are wrong about monsterdar. It wont show you on the map if you can capture, but if you have it set as a palico they will have a chat message that will tell you when it can be captured. It will also tell you when your paintball is about to wear off and when the monster is tired.
It can be useful for low rank capture monsters so you don't kill it
I've never played as a Hunter, I've stayed as a Prowler since the start of the game.
Any chance you have info on Rath of Meow damage? I've been looking around and just cannot find the raw numbers, to figure out if Bombay boost or support priority would be more beneficial overall.
Please include more recording bloopers, that was hilarious.
any tips or new video about hyper monsters? They seem to hit as hard, if not harder than deviants... For group play it's not too big a deal, but solo makes them a bit of a pain. Is palico a viable solo method for hypers?
PLEASE Add more bloopers in your videos that was cute as hell :P Again Thanks for all information.
I currently have access to Last Stand but I'm not sure I want to put it on my perfect prowler, I heard there was a DLC cat skill that everyone seems to think is better. Is it possible to overwrite a taught skill with a new one or would I be locked out of the DLC one if I went with Last Stand now?
This is purrfect timing. i spent all day scouting.
Thank you for this video BTW, I am a veteran player but paid little to no attention to prowler besides gathering which im.ashamed of XD
i like the little blooper addition in the end

Can you make a video on how to actually play as a prowler and how to train them and give them moves and stuff? If I missed it please link me
Thanks for those bloopers. So cute!
#NoobLife)
Random question, does passive power up items like Power charm and armor charm work on cats when you have it in your inventory like the hunters?
Those bloopers were just...so adorable.
Do you plan on doing a guide for the MHGen version of Meownster Hunters?
Ive been thinking of bringing a defense palico along with my healer on solo hunts. Are there any particular skills or moves you would recommend having on one as a palico?
So I don't really understand wht should be the best palicos to have. I usually bring heal to give me some extra hp now and then, but they heal me just once or twice a hunt. It's really a small amount of heal. I've put the Okami set on an offense cat, but It doesn't seams to do much damage. So defense is the best one? Just to attract the mob attention
I love what they have done with palicos in generations, I have spent hours scouting and leveling palicos and I have have some of the "perfect" ones that have been going around(NyantaleX, PoogieP etc)
I'm trying to spread my palicos that I have found around also, such a cool feature in Generations.
gaijin hunter I have to ask the question.
I don't suppose that there's a means to know which cats are the best kinds for the other styles, is there?
since you released this video, and the fact that i can't find a valid answer on google..
what're the food skills you should be focused on getting? aside from trainer. like, does hurler skill affect boomerangs?
awesome vid, and great blooper reel thanks again.
I enjoy collect cats as prowler, tend to use the big/Pierce boomerang combo and gathering at any point quickly fills the support gauge and enables me to activate those skills more frequently
but that's not to say that the other ones aren't good, gathering is just what I prefer
Why does my assist cat show me when the monster is ready to capture? The monster icon starts flashing red/white
Gaijin are you mainly using fighter or assist cat?
I'm using fighter but i wonder if assist is a better choice because i rarely use melee attacks.
What do you think?
Can someone tell me at what point in a Prowler dodge do the s start and end? Me and my friend cannot figure it out.
so anyone have a list of approximately how much damage the offensive palico skills do? things like chestnut cannon vs. claw dance etc. I know some things are surprisingly weak like the mini barrel bomb which takes 5 uses to take out a low rank village kelbi (when using a bomber cat but no bombay boost).
What would you recommend for a solo team? Guard and Healer? Guard and Fighter? Fighting and Healer? Assisting and Healer?
bomber cat can be really nice for sleep bombing, I use one with the sleep mace from melfestio, you can sleep alot better than the plessns, but you have to live with not having emergency retreat. also, if done right you can do alot of KO and exhaust too. since you basically only need the pierce boomerang you can easily use the 3, or even 4 points barrel bomb after the hunters placed theirs. works great in a group hunt
If I want to teach my palico a skill but its slots are used up, will I be able to choose which skill gets replaced?
I've scouted two cats at the beginning of the game but it won't let me scout anymore for some reason
thank you, ive been waiting for this guide
I swear by my double Pierce Boomerang, Big Boomerangs, Plunderang, Pilfer -- Boomerang Pro, Pilfer Boost Thief cats. So many plates.
does using a deviant weapon increases the speed of which the prowler assist weapon fills?
Have you tested this yet?
can't choose between a fighter or assist type :/ I like using the boomerangs but tend to be swiping like crazy...
Question:
In Meownster Hunter there is a grey colour (not secret but the one from ores and some other).
Is there a type that gets double bonus (by matching colour)?
No
Monsterdar DOES show you if you can capture it, the monster icon on the map flashes white if you can capture it!
i like bringing healer palicos (at least 1) because they reduce my downtime, since i don't have to bother healing up (or removing poison) as often. less time spent with weapons sheathed and healing = more time smacking monsters.
Where do I got to change my palico equipment after I forged it???
The tab panel at the end of your room, the one like a collage.
Which cat is better for a melee focus prowler, protection or Bombing?.
Is there a general lv 50 prowler boost? What else is special for lv 50?
Oddly, Charisma seems to have the same amount of support gauge charge from melee as Fighter on actual testing. I don't know if this was changed from MHX, since it makes no sense for charisma to have similar charge as fighter from melee, while being better at charging in any other way.
hey gaijin, ive got a question: im using 2 collect types, and ingame it states that the plunderang "as palico: steal from monsters. as prowler: more quest rewards"
but they steal stuff all the time, if im on a gathering mission as hunter they attack random large monsters i pass by and i get their materials at the prowler loot screen, surely that was not "more quest rewards", as in quest rewards materials from that monster dont even show up...
so what now, if i use them as prowlers do i get more quest rewards AND they steal stuff? im really confused about this system
Arhen Dante ah ok nice thanks. i've barely played as prowler, and there are a lot of hate around them apparently, so i didnt even touch loot type due to apparent lack in dmg AND versatility
i dont dislike the system as much as i did when i first heard about it, and as for me i didnt experience bad prowlers or hate towards me playing one until now, but i read a lot bad stuff about it and dont feel like diving too deep into that because of there reasons
The boomerang is the easiest to use but i use bombing cats and i get by okay
Question can a cat or is there a cat that has boomerang pro, piercing boomerang, big boomerang, and mega boomerang?
Thanks for this, was just looking for this info
I adore my Gather cat. Stealing, able to trap, deals decent damage. I was soloing offline with it until I got a good Assist cat. I still use my Steal cat when farming though.
Whats the best cat amour? I currently have the Hellblade set
Does Bombay Boost also give a boost to anti-monster mines? :/
when scouting the guard type, what target should I be looking for?
Hey gaijin. What's your build for the guard cat? I want to try something new other than boomerang cats.
I use a melee protection cat.
Nvm, I forgot that talons and charms are a thing
Thundet Lion world's strongest for attack up
how can i get a cat with emergency retreat and pierce boomerangs?
Anyone else notice the weird transition back to the previous slide at 8:35? :D Also, nani yatten no?
Is pierce boomerang only available as an innate skill? I finnaly found the (almost) perfect cat, but it doesn't have that move. Is there a way to make him learn that skill?
If it is an assist type cat you can teach it by a Fighter palico,if your "wanna be prowler" is a Fighter...you have to scout againg or you can't have mergency reatreat
why do i only see it now, this is exactly what I need! Thanks gaijinH!
Do you know if the Bomber and Bombay Pro stuff increases the damage of the Anti-Monster Mines?
Im late but yes
monsterdar saved my but many times, even though the effect as palico is random, it's works like Oracle in the beginning of the quest and randomly works like when you wave at the dragonseer. really useful for me
you can still use psychoserum and paint balls though. even more reliable too.
It does also let you know about if it's sleeping or not and on the hunts i need something like psychoserum my pouch is usually full, because of thunderlord i am carrying demondrugs and armorskins around
it also lets you see if the monster falls asleep
So wich type of felyne is better for playing as a Prowler?
excellent video sir, this was incredibly helpful and i have learned more about the cat types and i use prowlers a lot. go nyan!!!
p.s. those bloopers were hilarious :)
Again, very interesting tutorial. This might help me a lot.
How do you get the cats on top of the Monsters?
is the hero quest for zenny still available??
if i wanted to make a really overpowered prowler to play with what stats would i have to look for and how early should i start looking? if someone answers thank you in advance
also to add: i guess i should just look for fighter ones right?
Gaijin the poison puirrison cost is 5 not 4 :)
And the guard cat immage is the same of the assissting one ;)
cost 4 if you equip the trap expert perk
Yes but the skill itself costs 5. And usually u don't want to equip that perk. He simpli made a mistake writing. This happens to everybody. I wrote that comment so he can add a note with the correct cost in the video :)
I knew I would make at least one bonehead mistake - LOL. Thanks!
gaijin hunter You are welcome! Have a nice day :)
does anyone know if support boost stacks with counter boost?
