This was valuable information to know. I’ll be having my first colonoscopy since becoming WFPB 4 years ago. Previously I had three non-cancerous polyps removed 5 years ago. I was hopeful that this time I wouldn’t have any since eating so much fiber. Now I understand that the polyps are slow growing and may have started years before I cleaned up my eating. Im so grateful that your polyps were removed before they were able to spread. Thanks Tami! ❤️

Great video! I am 51 and had a clear colon guard and no family history. My functional medicine doctor told me to have the colonoscopy (bc nothing like putting eyes onto our colon and colon guard does not do that). I had to push for my GI doctor to schedule my colonoscopy. He actually said I could go my whole life without it and my insurance may not cover it. It ended up that they took 3 precancerous polyps out and one was 13 mm!! I was so surprised and grateful that I pushed for it!
Although I did not find WFPB instructors as detailed as yours, my prep was similar. I followed a low fiber diet for 3 days and took the same prep solution. However, instead of magnesium citrate, they gave me miralax. I’d rather use magnesium citrate and will ask for that substitution next time!

There are always some risks with any medical procedure but we have to weigh the benefits against the risks of not having these type of screenings. Thank you so much for sharing this! I've had several colonoscopies--the first few preps were inadequate and I got yelled at afterwards by the docs (which was uncalled for and left me feeling quite ashamed). Finally a nurse suggested what's called a "Double Prep", which means drinking the prep solution 2 days in a row and changing to the low fiber diet a full seven days before the procedure, so that's what they've ordered the last few times with good results. I sure wish I had a bidet though🙃 (I'm not allowed to have one in my apartment).
Given your results, I wonder if it would make sense for your daughter to have an early colonoscopy (if she's below the usual screening age)?
I hear your distress learning about this even as you're eating such a healthy diet! I'm so grateful for colonoscopies!

I sympathize with the IV vein issue. I have the same issue. Even if you tell them you don’t want to be put out they still insist on putting the IV in just in case of issues during the procedure. Lots of different cancers in my family and I am a 19 yr non-smoking lung cancer survivor. I’ve been eating this way since 2018. Thankfully at least my colonoscopies have always been clean long before I started eating this way. We recently lost a friend to colon cancer because they didn’t even get checked until he was in his late 70’s! Such a needless loss. At least eating this way helps protect our bodies as much as possible.

I had a colonoscopy a year ago October. I take blood thinner and stopped and started it as the cardiologist said. I had 2 or 3 polyps. One was at a curve. 4 days after starting blood thinner, i got up at 6:30 and filled toilet with thick jelled blood. About 5-10 minutes later it happened again. I about passed out. I called to my husband and he came to see me. I could barely walk to bed. Was taken to hospital by ambulance. The doctors said i was being admitted and had to do another colonoscopy that night. I was so weak and still losing blood. It was a horrible time. After getting released I had to get iron infusions twice a week for a while 4 weeks. I do not have to do another at my age and blood thinner.
I had followed Dr B as to what to eat. I did all correctly, but lose blood too easily.
