amazing build, not like the X2 as well. one of the best mid range zooms ever. the best MF system ever. exceptional colour. sharp corner lens in all range. whats not to like ?
There is no camera you can compare with a Leica,i hold the X Vario in the SoHo store in NYC and is impressive,even with f/3.5 the guy at the store took a pic behind the counter and it was a pretty clear shot...if you need extra light ISO is the best for it!!! and for the haters if you need a cheap camera get the 14megapixel Sony XC350 on craisglist for $50 dollars.
I must be the only one in the world who is reserving judgement on this camera until I can actually hold it and shoot with it. Only fair though, but Leica haters abound. Leica has been expensive forever so why would anyone think they'd bring out a cheap camera now? They're also renowned for their solid build and optics. If the sensor is usable up to 6400 then a slower zoom is a non-factor, just up the ISO and keep shooting. But people will hate no matter and most wouldn't buy Leica anyway.
This model and their X1 and X2 yes, but not their M series. They retain their value forever and some even are sold at a profit because of inflation. Plus if you ever tried out a Leica camera in real life it is an unbelievable experience.
I've just bought the XV and love it 📸 However can't find all the sub menues for the flash? I just have beginning or end for the flash but no forced flash, red eye reduction? HELP!
I picked up a used one because I wanted to see the mini zoom function on a Leica...I already used the M6 and Q, and wanted to see what a Leica with a mini zoom is all about, because of the midrange f/stops, I will strictly use the camera in daylight situations only... it’s an expensive toy, but, a Leica is a Leica...right
I remember a time when things were built to last, my mums simple, no frills Electrolux Fridge for example, bought December 1972. Poor energy efficiency but she still uses it as a back-up when some cheap crap of a fridge with all the bells and whistles busts a gut and dies on her, 9 in 40+ years. Leica is from that world of no-frills, ultra-reliable, and solid dependability, some people from this live today, eat-all you can, and die tomorrow world just dont get it and never will.
It would have been a whole different story if they stuck a Fullframe sensor in there! Now its just a big fail considering it has to compete with Ricoh GR, Coolpix A, X100s! It has a zoom though, but so does the Fuji X20. Albeit smaller sensor it has 28-112mm, F2.0-F2.8 lens, Optical viewfinder, faster focus etc.)
I think I would buy the Sony RX1r for that price or a Nikon D800. Many nice similar size cameras on the market - Fuji X-E1, Sony NEX6/7, Fuji X100s, Olympus OMD-5 and Pen-P5 - and even though I have the Sony NEX7 and OMD-5 and Fuji X100s I am going to buy the Panasonic GX7, I suspect the Leica X is mainly Panasonic, GX7 just a joy to control and tilt-able built-in viewfinder etc. and for only $1000 - Leica X looks good but so many other better choices - sorry Leica
Get the Sony RX1 is full frame and better lens!! I'm surprised panasonic vas able to make a 24-70 f2.8 for M4/3 and Leica introduced this with 3.5-6.5 C''mon this is nothing special I stick to my OMD !!!
Everyone understands leica is great quality but I don't think it's an excuse to charge this much for a DSLR style camera with an un-amazing fixed zoom. Overpriced!
