This guy dresses meticulously, his hair is cut perfectly, the museum is very well kept and looks like a pristine, fresh from the box building. I hope I can visit HK again and see this for myself.
That 1 straight line in your life, that you make that moment to happen. In health and in wealth, you are succed your passion. My God that dedication, salut.
I worked briefly at the F11 Foto Museum a while back. Mr So also had an incredible collection of original vintage prints of many of the most famous photographs of the 20th century. Truly an incredible collection.
@@jimbolic0809 Sadly no. The manager at the time told me that Mr So decided to close it temporarily to renovate the building, that's why I stopped working there. But he seemed never to get around doing it because he has so many other things going on.
So many wonderful similarities between the Leica camera and the high end watch collecting. And this very knowledgeable gentleman is a pleasure to listen to.
Amazing collection. My M2 is very special to me. Even if it breaks, ill repair it and if I can't repair it I know I'll always keep it because of the memories I've made with it.
I always wonder what the cameras have seen and captured over the years! I collect cameras, unfortunately not Leica's though :) Douglas's display and collection are what you can only dream about! Fabulous collection :) Great video!!
I am a photographer and Leica owner who has visited Hong Kong more than ten times since 1998, and, sadly, have never heard about this museum. I will definitely visit the poace next time I go there.
I have always had a hidden resentment for collectors who silently buy up things for their own narcissistic reasons, but I am absolutely OK with this man using his means to preserve and actually share what is a completely limited and historical resource. Hopefully his heirs continue the tradition. I will say though, I'd love to shoot some of those lenses. I don't really care about the bodies. My beater M3 will take the same photograph, and maybe even better because it is used and serviced well.
Few people know this but I have it on good authority that Hong Kong is literally Leica's most important market, at least per capita and considering the size of the place. Amazing though - most exotic car collections would be affordable compared to this guy's Leica collection. No seriously!😳
Greeting: How or where can I get a copy of Black Paint Leica's? I would love to own this book. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and now hope to one meet Mr. So and to visit this extraordinary vision that is his museum with his passion for Leica on full display. To Mr. So and all contributors to this production, Continued Happiness and Success. Doc Chaps
All these collectors, they cleaned a lot of their precious cameras n house vault them,,is a shame to all real photographers out there who can’t afford but still winning prized photos
Even if you're not into cameras, you gotta respect and admire this guy's passion for what he loves.
You can see in his eyes the love he has for his collection!

Why didn't he fix his teeth though? Seems odd in context of everything else.
@@JonathanJK May be it is some sort of artistic manifest.
@@JonathanJK Just like the brass showing in a well used Leica, his teeth also shows the passage of time.
@@user-yk1cw8im4h Living art and the parallel expressions.
How does he treat homeless ppl?
Douglas is an amazing guy. So glad to know him personally. A real asset to our global Leica family.
He’s a human not an “asset”
I can really feel his love for photography and cameras! It's amazing!
Fascinating. What a passionate man. Love the story he’s created.
My father was using a M3 in my high school era and now I have my own.
Douglas is another species that ties with Leica for his passion 📷

I saw that they've been temporarily closed since 2020... Would you happen to know when they may reopen?

@@Stop4MotionMakr I see... that's unfortunate. Thank you for your reply though!

Its amazing and lovely. Leica cameras are beautifull and workhorses for journalists, small and rugged.
I love the way the cameras are displayed , very stylish ,fantastic collection , wow 👍🙂
Douglas is such a custodian of Leica and photography in general. thanks for sharing.
Impressive guy and collection and the way the cameras are on display. Hopefully I can visit the museum next time in HK.
An amazing story of commitment to excellence and patience. Great collection.
Fascinating video. Thank you.

You are everywhere bro! haha
Come to HK with me mate, we can go visit Douglas, he’s my friends friend.
Such a gentleman.
A very fascinating man and a very fascinating collection.

Awesome!!! Just bought my first Leica, and I feel like this is going to be an amazing journey.
Love every camera from Leica that I own. Really robust and precise craftmanship.
I love seeing people talk about their collections. So passionate and interesting!!
This is an absolutely wonderful story 😊
Beautiful!!
I'd like to visit that museum, those cameras not only look beautiful but they tell a story.
I'm glad this is all in the hands of someone who truly loves it instead of some soulless finer things collector.
What a nice man.
What an elegant person
Fantastic, so nice i like it well done.
Man, bucket list to visit that place!
Hope I will get a chance to visit this great museum. Great collection!

This man is well dressed, well mannered and culture - it’s what our society is so lacking these days!

Very well done presentation, video production is superb!
Beautiful! I would love to visit that museum some day
Outstanding!
i wish i saw this collection when i was in hong kong
Stunning collection! A friend of mine as a black paint M4, super pretty.
If you can't do, collect.
this will definitely be on my to go list in HK this year
I don't even think LEICA is in possession of such a collection!!
They can't afford it.
I'm curious to see what his photography looks like.
200% agree whit him!
Amazing collection and location would love to visit sometime in future.
Awesome.

I have not seen a collection like that since The Royal Photographic Society had a collection when they were in Bath UK many years ago! Wow....

Don Chatterton was THE collector of Leica back in the 1970's. d.2015 He sold many cameras to Japanese collectors.
I am very much worried about the security system. The glass windows seem too thin. Here in Hong Kong a Leica camera shop was recently burglarised.
Passionate
Does anybody know which photo books was shown in this video?
At 1:28 he's looking at some very nice portraits on a book. Does anyone know which book this is? Thank you!
Where can I find a copy of the black painted leica book? (See from 4:58 onwards)

Its amazing, an absolutely perfectionist
Way for admiration one of the most greatest cameras in the world.

Wow the best
hey does anyone know what glasses he is wearing?
I have to go change my shirt now! Great vid.
wow!
priceless
And I thought I had a problem collecting too many Leicas…
As a first time Leica owner wannabe, should I get the model using film or digital version?
“To be a successful collector all you need is to be rich asf”
Nah look at my lawyer dawg I‘m going to jail 😭
Would you be interested in a leica m8 dealer demo Model?
💰
One day I will buy a Leica.
I'm more interested in his photography.
“If you want to be a successful collector” you need to have a lot of money
Surely a man with such a vast amount of wealth could at least fix his teeth. Irony knows no bounds.
Really rich man
A beautiful narrative....spoilt by intrusive "rock" music overwhelming over the story telling.

That’s all great. But can they shoot 18mp and cinematic mode? No… useless. I need vertical 4k for TikTok… 😎
Love to be rich.
GAS level 100. :)
Could get used to this hobby 😂
me as an old person
It’s unfortunate that this is in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 (ie, now China).
Edan sih ini !!! Edan !!!
the optical range finder is easily out of spec upon a slight jot …. move on
I would do the same if I had money.
He looks like an asian Le Corbusier.
Lordleica is best.
Leica = expensive cameras
i hope i can buy one in future.
Guys this is what you do when you have too much money.
