The reason why I love rogue one so much is not just cause of the Vader Hallway scene, but the way it shows the empire. The past movie never truly showed it’s capabilities and its army building strength and rogue one depicts it perfectly cause it shows how the empire rises over and to be honest, the Empire are the good guys cause they did what the republic couldn’t do, didn’t bring war until the rebels showed up, the only time they destroyed a planet was Alderaan cause they were traitors to the empire and were planing on attacking. The Death Star wasn’t built for planet destroying but to show the power the Empire has and why you shouldn’t mess with it. The only times you see stormtroopers doing “bad things” is when they are dealing with smuggles, or people committing crimes and they put them in there place. So Yes, I do believe the Empire was the good guys and rogue one depicts them amazingly
Under a Sith Lord yes, terrible but other generals were not as harsh. Darth Vader would use his own troopers to take blaster shots and kill them if they talked back. Thats a Sith Lord owning part of the bad empire but most of it was a more stable good. Think of the American Revolution with Britain and the New Colonies, they supported there orders until they put taxes after losing a war and then they “Rebelled” and fought back
