Strapless gang! Thanks for sharing your thought process behind your gear - I always love seeing these kinds of BTS footage in the mix. The mobile printer is a great idea and would love to see mirrorless cameras adopt a direct to printer function to avoid having to send it to your phone first. I have a Fuji Instax that will shoot straight to print but the camera quality is pretty poor. Thanks for sharing your journey!
I literally took my camera strap off last week. The lens I use most often is a Sigma 150-600 which I carry by the tripod collar, and when shooting macro or anything with a tripod the strap usually gets in the way at some point. Love the content man- certainly a major, positive influence for my skillset and passion. And the mini printer is an AMAZING tip- I'm shooting my sisters wedding in a few months and I totally see the little photos being a huge hit.
I shoot portraiture, mostly in a studio so I don't use straps but whenever my client wants an outdoor shoot, I only use my wrist strap for that ''just in case'' peace of mind.
I want to get the camera clip that hold your camera on the backpack strap by your chest area, that just seems so useful! I get slightly irritated always having to pull my camera straight out of my backpack all the time HAHA. Love the tips in this video! 💯✔️🔥
I have been using that sensor cleaning kit for years and still carry a couple of swabs and the small bottle of fluid with me, LOL I have been using think tank photo products for years, I have had several of the pixel pocket rockets I currently use the secure pixel pocket rocket, I remember carrying both CF and SD cards when I was shooting my Canon DSLR's that used two different cards. I carry both a polarizer and a variable ND filter. I started just carrying my iPad along with me instead of my laptop to cut the weight and I got adapters so I can download SD cards to it, although I sometimes just use Sony Imaging Edge to transfer my photos if I don't need to do RAW files. Camera straps funny how that turned out for me, I used to use neck straps with my DSLR's but when they got bigger and heavier my neck and back would hurt, I started using the cross body straps like those from Black Rapid and that was a game changer for me, now with my small camera I'm back to a neck strap, a very nice black one made from paracord. I'm not doing photography as a business anymore my current camera is a Sony a6600 with one sd card slot and Im very happy with it a couple of years ago I sold my Canon gear and got the Sony my bag weight dropped quite a bit around 8 or 9 lbs the heaviest thing I carry now is my water bottle. I may get back to photography as a business one day.
Great recommendations however in regards to the sensor cleaning kit, under no circumstances clean your sensor out in the open if you can, but if there's no option don't scrub on it back and forth either. It's a 2 pass motion to clean your sensor, any more you risk the chance of scratching it.
Great video! One silly question, what is that sitting on your camera's flash shoe at time mark 1:30? I'm assuming it's a transmitter for a remote flash, but the cable on it throws me off.
I definitely would still use the wrist strap for less safe environments. I know even with my wrist strap I feel unsafe in downtown New Orleans but it’s definitely better than the neck strap! I also love the bag clip. I also have used a sensor cleaning kit(my first week with my mirrorless I touched the sensor while changing lenses smh) and would suggest it to everyone to keep on them! I also love the idea of the baby photo printer for shots to give to people!
Great list! I have all of these except a portable printer & disposable camera, that portable printer a light bulb went off! I use my Peak Design strap when in busy cities to keep it secure, otherwise, I go naked!
It takes me a year + to gather the funds for a new camera body. If I drop it and damage it, I will be without my psychological therapy for at least a year. So I keep a strap on my camera at all times (wrist strap or a neck strap - I use PGYTECH Universal Quick Connectors because Peak De$ign has lost their mind about cost vs utility). I couldn't' agree more on a backpack quick release camera clip for my camera (I use the NEEWER GP66 because Peak De$ign again :) .. for my Pentax K-3 Mark iii) .. I am on the lookout for a good organizer bag like your two sided cable holding bag. My camera bag (currently a sling bag), has gotten too busy inside, and tends to drop things when I open it. Great info, thank you for your time.
I don't use a camera strap. Over the many years, I've seen them/had one break resulting in floor meeting camera. I use a Smallrig L bracket. It now only allows me to change landscape to portrait fast, without having to re-level the tripod, but I can now get a super sturdy grip with my left hand as well.
L brackets and cinema rigs are awesome as just armor for the camera, and spontaneous lighting design can happen in the moment. I love to clip a small LED video light on a short boom screwed into the L bracket (and if it has a fresnel, attached, also good for stills! On-camera flash can be a part of photography, we just need to get a little more inventive.
I do have the capture clip actually, but one small downside is, that it kind of hurts on my shoulder when my bag is very heavy. But it's not that big of a deal.
Concert photographer. I stopped shooting with a strap this past year. It just got in the way ALL THE TIME. I've thought about getting a clip, but given the nature of what I do I'm around a lot of people with open beverages, and I'm just too concerned about the possibility of someone spilling a beer on me and it getting all over the camera. Between sets I'll just throw my camera in my bag. A portable printer might be something worth looking into, especially if I were to print my contact info on the opposite side and basically have a personalized business card.
You're carrying too much in your backpack. Running around cities with a heavy load is boring and exhausting. My pack is a depot to leave at the hotel room, the house or in the car and from that I pick the gear, I need for specific shooting. From your 7 MUST, I'll agree on the POL filter only. For me, the camera strap is essential, but I handle my camera in a quite different way as you do. Almost all focusing through the viewfinder and very seldom on the screen.
Best camera accessories = lense & SD cards. I do have sensor cleaning kit, I've seen people do some harsh stuff to a sensor and not ruin it so I'm not afraid with it. Also I hardly ever use a strap, most of my shots are from the ground view, bugs, mushrooms etc. And I don't like the rubbing or sweat on my neck.
9:43 I still think the cheap Ebay "Quick Release Camera Belt Clip Buckle" is the best choice. (Review? maybe? because I see everyone goes to the expensive strap solution that you had) Upsides: It is cheap, it replaces your existing camera holder. (Cheaper alternative to have both if someone does not have it) Durable: I use it for years now and I still use the same one. I bought 2 because I thought it will break after some time, but, now I can use it with my second camera. Diverse: You can put the holder part on your belt, or your bag, or you can put it on your strap. I started to use it because of my gimbal I had to take down the straps. Fast and easy to use: It is fast to unclip just hold the lever, even faster to clip in the camera, just click it in. And you feel and hear when you clipped in so you can be sure it is holding. (just don't forget to clip back before you let it go if you clipped out :D) Simple and Secure: Once you clipped in you can't take it out without a lever, it is holding the camera in every direction. But you can unlock it with one hand on the go. Improvements: If you put a keyring in the hole on the little ball it is even tool less and takes a few seconds to take it off, and put back in it's holder to not loose it. Downsides: You have to use the tripod mount but it is still faster than detaching the strap every time. And more secure than not using it at all. It is not really friendly with camera grip side holding. It can move more in the holder than in your camera holder. If you got a tool less tripod mount it should be easy to replace. I can't imagine the situation when you have to move from neck strap to tripod that fast. (but also I'm not that energetic as you) If you use it for months it recommended to check sometimes if it is still tight. I used it for a half year before and it happend one time when I had to tighten it. It is more likely you forget that you clipped it out and just let go of the camera because it is that simple to use. I find my self lowering my camera until I feel it in the strap and just then release the camera. Optionally you could use it with a wrist srtap, and you pull out your hand against the holder so it is sure you won't drop it. I clip out the camera when it is on the table so I wont pull it off because it is that fast. The hardest thing to find where did I put the strap :D It would be awesome if someone developed a mini tripod head for it to use it as a ball head :D
I use pocket printer, SDcard reader, and filters (polarizing and promist). As for straps I didn't use that like ever, because my setup is extremely light for a fullframe if I go with my Sony A7 MK1 and 50/1.8 it's whole 630g, well all depends on you with what you wanna go and what you actually need for the shoot though, not gonna tell you how to live xD
Instead of using the camera without a strap, try using it with a hand strap. I switch to the Spider Handstap V2 4 years ago, and have never looked back. It’s also WAY more secure than holding it just by the grip, and you can still used the peak design chest clip.
Used various straps over the years, but they kept getting in the way & are cumbersome. Especially when packing into my bag. Been using a small rig hand strap which I like.
On the topic of going strapless and other risks Pierre is willing to take with his camera gear: just keep in mind his camera equipment is a business expense, he can write off taxes. And he likely has a relationship with Sony. If you’re like most of us and do photography as a hobby to take pictures on trips and a family, there is no shame in using a strap and being careful. Buying a brand new body with an insurance claim is no easy task, trust me.
Cheers for the video Mate! So I shoot Canon (still on 5D MKIV) and use the Peak Design Capture Clip, A FF Sensor Cleaner (not that one you mention - cant recall the brand), Think Tank Card Holder. For others - I have a Peak Design Field Pouch (V1) for all my cables/chargers & 100% use the Peak Design Slide strap - I shoot mostly family stuff and some non paid activities for friends and family - mostly in a single location and not far from my bag - so I use the strap as its across the body and I just throw my camera with grip attached behind me and I find it super efficient as it’s comfortable and as its behind me I never (touch wood) smash my camera around.
I took photos with phone for fun and my only accessory is macro lens with clip, coz built-in marco camera in my phone has very bad quality, but with this lens I can shoot macro photos with my main rare camera
I recently started photography with a Sony A7IV and have found your videos very useful Pierre! I have the PD slide lite but rarely used it. Instead, I use the PD cuff all the time. Might consider the PD clip in the near future.
First I would never place any camera standing up on anything using the lens as a base like I just shockingly saw. That was shocking to see. Anyone standing a camera on the lens is just asking for it. The lens is not a stand, unless you're buying it from a bottle company and could care less. #2....Yes take your strap off...since your standing the camera on your lens, why not go all out looking for total total destruction.... When I have even family use my camera to take a photo, the VERY FIRST thing they know I'm doing is placing the STRAP on their neck...There's NO IF'S ands or Butts....It's not going to happen. I go the total opposite my straps are the best money can buy, to protect my investment. All you need is ONE mistake, they happen in a nano second without forseen warnings. And I don't use inexpensive filters diminishing the quality of Expensive lens glass and Bluing . Never use a paper towel and never wipe dry....your warm breath on a cool day is fine, Yes do take your lens off in the field and clean your sensor....There's No Dust There....LOL ! Better yet have an air can and embed the dust .....Sigh Don't buy air cans to blow the dust in....Think about how stupid that concept is ,,,,,!
I use the same Peak Design clip with my backpack. When I’ve got my bag on I won’t use a strap, but if I’m not using the bag, I’ll put my strap back on so I can carry the camera around more easily.
I recently took the straps off all my nikons, currently using smallrig and K&F wrist straps, but usally shoting just eiyh hands. Favorite accessory is the L bracket. I have also put them on all my bodies. Tripod use is alot eaiser !!
I got the Outex underwater camera housing because of one of your videos and its not perfect, but I've been able to get some really cool photos in Hawaii of night snorkeling with Manta Rays.
I've been wondering about that clip because I dislike shooting with a strap, but sometimes it can also get inconvenient without one when you are going out with a lot of gear. I can wait to get one, think it'll be a game changer.
Sir, I am beginner and I'm using canon 1500d. I don't know how to check shutter count in canon 1500d. Could you please tell me how to check shutter count. I tried by taking last pic and upload in various link, but finding canon shutter count is hard for me. Hope I get reply from u ASAP.. ☺
Love it! Check out Peak Design's Lens Kit. I've been shooting a lot of primes lately so having the option to carry 2 more lenses on my belt has come in super handy! No more digging in my bag, saves time! Like all PD's items, it integrates seamlessly into their other products so you can use it with the clip or even a strap. Inexpensive and totally worth it!
No, you do scare me the way you hold the cameras without straps and I see your filter busted or camera completely covered in mud! 😂 I’m using the body strap. I finally found someone who does more damage to camera gear than myself. 😆

I don't agree with what you said about straps and grips for dslr. For any beginner or even pro photographer, they are life savers= camera savers. It's the matter how proficient you are using them or how careless, you are.
Yes I've had memory cards break! They split like a sandwich the two sides come apart. I think they're better made now. I tend to use micro cards now. They are protected by the outer sleeve. Not broken one!
One day you will drop your camera lens combo I'm 100% sure without a strap and the damage going to be very painful. I did and the 2.5 grand lens was unrepairable, the camera was badly damaged and the repair cost 2 grand. Good luck wearing your cameras and lens combos without any straps, at least some hand straps.
I have dropped my camera …. Twice …. thanx to the Sony strap , since I have removed my camera strap i feel more secure than ever …. Just wished the Sony a6400 had a larger grip
I do that myself cleaning my sensor but I first use a blower then the cleaning brush and just 1 drop of cleaning luiqide. So show the right steps blower first.
I had a Peak Design SD card holder and got rid of it. I was doing weddings and church functions at the time and I hated the sound of the Velcro when trying to open the holder. I now use a Lowepro hard case that holds 8 SD cards. When I use a card, I'll put it in the case back side of card facing out so I know it has pictures or video on it. Thanks for the video...I've got gear to check out now!
I use the clip but from another brand and I also can’t shoot with the camera strap on. So many times that you flip your camera to shoot vertical and you get the strap in front of the lens. The other day I clipped the strap in the camera and it was there till the first photo only 😂 But I keep it all the time on my backpack 🤷🏻♂️
I shoot without the camera strap, only wrist strap, and it usually works well but it's annoying if I need to use both hands. I don't have the clip so I can't attach the camera somewhere so my next plan is actually to get a military sling, one that is more practical than a normal camera strap.
I stopped using my strap too. One time I was traveling. I had the strap on and I put it around me and hen the strap broke and the camera hit the ground. Now I don’t use one but whenever I do. I find myself holding the camera scared it’s going to fall again
I now shoot without a strap most of the time becasue, I agree! It definetly does get in the way. But I do tend to wear my wrist strap in the city because it is so busy so I have it just incase I get bumped and drop it or someone even tries to steal it off me.
OK - This fellow almost certainly has been to the Olympic Peninsula. That is about the only place that you can photograph moose in a rain forrest. The rain forrest extends onto Vancouver Island, but there are no moose on the island.
I never use a camera strap when walking around for photography. Most cameras have a great grip so you will feel secure. I would recommend starting with a lighter prime lens to get used to the weight. But, I have walked around with a 70-200mm for a couple hours. Forearms were on fire!
I've cleaned several sensors. I have a rocket blower as the first port of call, I've now purchased the Pentax gel stick for dabbing dust and hairs off also now. Last option is wet cleaning which is very easy as you're cleaning the tempered glass in front of the sensor. As long as you are careful there's no risk. I have a 2 in one ND/CPL which I find amazing and it's an 82mm and I own several step down rings. So this one filter covers nearly all my lenses. My Peak Design straps have been a big game changer also, very comfortable and easy to attach and detach. I have several USB card readers spread among my camera bags, pouches etc. Considering the PD Capture Clip, the price is what's putting me off at the moment.

hey, do you have any recommendations for a new camera?
0:00 Introduction
1:00 1. Sensor cleaning kit
2:10 2. Pocket printer
4:04 3. Disposable camera
4:55 4. SD card pouch
6:21 5. Memory card reader (in cable pouch)
7:44 6. Polarizing filter
9:09 7. Camera holder (Peak Design Capture clip)
Peak design clip was a godsend on my 7 day hike in the mountains. So goood! Also shoot without a strap, way more comfortable naked.
I like your videos but titles like this one are nonsensical. A true photographer just takes good pictures. Don't fall for the commercialism, folks.
Blah blah blah
Relax, bro. I mean, who needs a clean sensor?? Not a true photographer, apparently.
Thank you
I wanna learn about accessories, thank you
Dumb comment lmao
Strapless gang! Thanks for sharing your thought process behind your gear - I always love seeing these kinds of BTS footage in the mix. Fujifilm camers have a function to directly connect to Instax printers.

Do you use the Sony one? I use that one too for wildlife and landscape. Amazing lens!!
Ah yessss the tripod & the straps always get in their way! Good luck with the wedding - they'll love mini prints for sure :)
You like the sigma 150-600? I’m picking one up myself
とても勉強になりました‼️
ありがとうございました✨☀️
Thank you for always sharing your knowledge to us!
hey pierre i love your videos. just got my first dslr this week. you are my favorite photograph. keep on going man, peace from germany
i have a tiny printer like yours only it's a LG brand and it's truly cool, so portable.
same as canon ivy concept and all

No strap for all of the same reasons plus nothing rattling from the wind when shooting video.

I always use a wrist band. I need the feel of a safety net
i wanna hear your most favorite lens for traveling
I like this dude
shoot with a wrist cuff best of both worlds and easy to remove

My card reader Not working with my tv? Is it the cars or Cheap reader?
I have had a sensor cleaning kit for 10 years. I have never had to use it.
Cleaning kit, polarizing filter, camera strap matters i think other things are just wasting money
Best camera accessories = lense & SD cards.

Free tip : put a lens hood on every lens you have ... #1, its stirdier than your polarizing filter ; #2, its cheaper ...
With sensor cleaning kits it is important to buy the ones you showed. Don't go cheap as it will mess up your sensor
I use pocket printer, SDcard reader, and filters (polarizing and promist). Cleaning the sensor is very easy just take your time use the proper size swab.
Peak Design Capture Clip forever!
I use the strap only if I go for a walk and just want the camera with one lense, no backpack.
Instead of using the camera without a strap, try using it with a hand strap. I switch to the Spider Handstap V2 4 years ago, and have never looked back. It’s also WAY more secure than holding it just by the grip, and you can still used the peak design chest clip.
Here we go again 💸

Is the camera clip strong enough for a 70-200mm?
I personally shoot with no straps. It feels a lot more free for me.

The lens is not a stand, unless you're buying
it from a bottle company and could care less. #2....Yes take your strap off...since your standing the camera on your lens, why not
go all out looking for total total destruction.... When I have even family use my camera to take a photo, the VERY FIRST thing they
know I'm doing is placing the STRAP on their neck...There's NO IF'S ands or Butts....It's not going to happen. I go the total opposite
my straps are the best money can buy, to protect my investment. All you need is ONE mistake, they happen in a nano second without
forseen warnings. And I don't use inexpensive filters diminishing the quality of Expensive lens glass and Bluing . Never use a paper towel
and never wipe dry....your warm breath on a cool day is fine, Yes do take your lens off in the field and clean your sensor....There's No Dust There....LOL !
What about your GoPro ?
helpful for BTS indeed but not for the photos themselves :)
@@Pierretlambert I love when you use it for us to see how you get your composition with your camera, the pov view.
Aah the sensor cleaning kit, I remember myself as a beginner cleaning the objective without knowing the dust was on my sensor.
Yes, I shoot naked! But the long the shoot I like PD wrist strap!
I have the exact same sensor cleaning kit. It works super great and it's totally safe to use.
I do that myself cleaning my sensor but I first use a blower then the cleaning brush and just 1 drop of cleaning luiqide. So show the right steps blower first.
Great video! I’m going to order a PD Capture Clip and the sensor cleaner. Which backpack are you using in this video? Thank you
I had a Peak Design SD card holder and got rid of it.
Wow, I actually have that ThinkTank SD Card holder from like 6 or 7 years ago lol
I use the clip but from another brand and I also can’t shoot with the camera strap on. So many times that you flip your camera to shoot vertical and you get the strap in front of the lens. The other day I clipped the strap in the camera and it was there till the first photo only 😂
But I keep it all the time on my backpack 🤷🏻♂️
Mentioned true photographers so I clicked. The dude is shooting digitally.. Dislike and exit.
Keep the strap because sometimes you can use the adjusting strap excuse when you are taking picture of strangers 😂
I have a strap with one connection point.
So I can put it across when I’m doing stuff, and take it off when I’m using it
I shoot with out a strap. I always have the camera in one hand when moving around. My mind is always on the camera.
It's my understanding sensor cleaning should only be done by wiping on One direction. Opinions? Thanks.
I like your photography Your follower from Iraq ❤️ Talent for photography ❤️
I use a strap because it makes changing lenses easier. If I don't want it around my neck I wrap it around my wrist.
So your last accessory you can live with out, is an accessory you can live without?
if i have sponsors i will be a good photographer i think
That subtle v card comment LOL
I used to think the 70-200 was heavy too until I started using the sigma 24-105, it’s so heavy but SO nice😂🙌🏽
What is the thing on top of your camera? Is like a focus helper ?
I think you might have seen the camera with a microphone attached on top..
@@jasonhoey6151 Maybe but I think that was a sensor but I can be wrong
Can I know what kind of camera you will recommend for beginners pls
If your camera sensor gets so dirty on the field for you to need to carry a swnsor cleaner, you are not taking good care if your gear.
Wtf i just litreally liked the vedio and you asked did you just liked the vedio
Got a canon R6 recent not using a strap dont like it its in my way of photo's
i do have a strap on backpack not using it a lot tho
I've had the plastic on one memory card start to crack and before I screwed myself over I retired that card haha
I got rid of the strap the second day I bought it lol - has been holding it since. I lose the clip too, don't need any of these lol
Damn his SD card collection alone costs more than my whole setup 🤣😭😂
Been shooting strapless for 3 years now. Haven’t regretted once
