I find it bizarre how in Out Of The Shadows they never fight The Shredder and only fight Bebop and Rocksteady once, what's worse is Shredder spends almost the entire film without his mask on, then when he does put it on, he immediately gets frozen in ice
Well I think Eric Sacks being the shredder could have worked. They could have gone the route of the Mandarin from Iron Man 3 have someone else use the mantle only to later on reveal the true shredder in a future movie. That would also explain the shredder armor in the first movie he's not that skilled combat wise like the real shredder so he's armor have to compensate for that with the multiple blades, the size, the appearance etc.
@@BlackPrince24 lol sounds like that makes him the Diet Version which would be fitting in a sense. A head sized alien is better in a mech/armored suit than him. Heck, you could make an MCU-esque quipy movie trilogy from Samurai Pizza Cats. I guess my point is that, maybe TMNT as a franchise should be put to rest a little, but if people really want to work on it and reboot it, why not direct that time, money, and energy on one of the cheaper derivatives? I wondered if the original version of the 2014 film before the reshoots was going to have reincarnation story from the comics. Eric Sacks was a reincarnation of an Feudal Japanese Shredder while having his grudge against his reborn enemies, thus explaining their fight banter. Also, when Splinter pick up the book of how to do martial arts, he triggered memories of his past life and teach the turtles all the skills from Feudal Japan but with the reshoots throwing the reincarnation story out of the window, they simply learn from a book. Another thing is I believe all of Baxter's scenes went straight to Sacks in the reshoots. Baxter was there but very briefly. April does have a sort of rivalry with Baxter in the other versions, so it makes sense them fighting each other in the shootout scene instead of Sacks.
For years before I actually got into TMNT I really thought the turtles were always supposed to be really big and tall and once I became a fan I couldn't figure out why I thought that. I can now conclude it must be due to these movies, but I've never seen them and only vaguely knew of their existence before, so that just raises further questions, actually
Maybe your first exposure to the turtles was the marketing for these movies? Because I remember that even in the ads, you can see that this version of the turtles was MUCH larger than ordinary people are. And if the marketing was the only exposure you really got to them for a long time, it makes sense that this version would directly contribute to your preconception of the turtles and their size.

If I had a nickel for every time Micheal bay made an overly designed tons of cgi and explosions reboot of an classic 80s toy/show/comic, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice
Fun fact: Someone who saw the large cheese pizza scene from the first Bay movie actually made a large cheese pizza in real life. I swear, I’m not making this up.
Iirc, one reason for the Shredder's initial casting was because of fears that the character in the source material felt too much like a "yellow peril" stereotype (the same reason was made for having the Mandarin be a white guy in Iron Man 3).
Makes more sense for Mandarin because Japanese culture is heavily tied to Ninja Turtles to begin with and Japan isn't a country the use fearmongers about in modern times. But even then you can play around a lot with the Mandarin.
Personally, I was certain it was gonna be revealed that Leo didn't want to be human, and was terrified his brothers would leap on the chance to use the ooze and leave him behind to live normal lives. Nothing compares to the classics for me... as a kid who grew up with the turtles since day one and continues that love with his kiddos. I can say as a fan I enjoyed the Bay Turtle films for sure. The crisp visuals and spot on CGI... smooth action and fights too... there's a place for them for sure. Never above the originals though.
I didn't realize they redubbed Leo w/ Knoxville. I thought he was Knoxville from the start. But just didn't use him for motion capture. Learn something knew every day!
The bizarre creep factor Michael Bay (talking through Mikey) has for Megan Fox in this and Transformers proves how right she was all along. It weirded me out so much. April from the 2003 show is my favorite version, being a scientist and all. Megan Fox deserved much better than what life delt her. The Shredder being whitewashed could have been sorry based. Like Sachs being a huge weeb because he grew up in Japan being raised by Saki. He wanted to be a cool samurai like Saki. I could see that being logical. Oroku Saki being insulted by is ward would make sense for the sequel to avenge his name. The turtles were more or less what you'd expect. Mikey always was a creep around April anyway "Can we keep her?!" It also felt wrong and out of place. Raph is always the best turtle even though Donnie is my fav. Leo is just Leo, kinda boring for me. I will always take the 87 cartoon origin for Splinter knowing ninjutsu as well as the turtles. As well as having beef with Shredder. Splinter was Hamato Yoshi and a rival to Saki works so well. The turtles being humanoid thanks to the ooze because Yoshi touched them after getting slimed is the definitive origin for me. Yoshi have a passion for Renaissance art was just the icing on the cake for me. Well, that's my rant on these movies
13:56 I think the 2003 series really nailed making the turtles smaller in height and making Casey basically tower over them and also having April be taller as well…..I know the 87 cartoon also does that but it just feels so much better in the 03 cartoon though unfortunately any those turtles don’t look like teens but at least they got the height thing right :/
the one thing you can say about these movies is the turtles themselves were perfectly cast (besides johnny knoxville lol) but i could see the second movies cast being reused for an animated show n it'd work completely, it's pretty much everything besides them in these movies that don't work tho
Anymore new gutter space videos in the future there's alot to talk about a new Hellboy game, superman reboot, Hugh Jackmans Wolverine in Deadpool 3 us rumors of past fox X-men actors coming back in Secret Wars
I feel like I’m in this weird crowd where I actually didn’t mind the first movie but I absolutely hate the second movie. Both movies are not cinematic masterpieces, but I felt the first one had an interesting style to it and tried to do something different while the second one, to me, felt more like fan service than a continuation. Plus I don’t like this Casey at all (Same with OOTS Leo.)
They tossed out the entire pathos of their origin and replace it with something not as deep. Eliminating Hamato Yoshi from the source of ninja two for the turtles and splinter was a mistake. Then there are the designs of the turtles and selves. Gargantuan anthropomorphic powerhouses instead of the stealthy small ninjas everybody knows. Sorry but this was a complete cluster fuck of what fans love. And don't get me started on The Sheedder.

I feel like Xavier is gonna do a video on The Transformers movies.
I just hope he does the animated movie
Can't believe Xavier fought through terminal ligma to get this video done. I salute you, sir!
26:49 dude was beatboxing like Thanos
Honey, wake up. There's a new GodzillaMendoza video
13:56 I think the 2003 series really nailed making the turtles smaller in height and making Casey basically tower over them and also having April be taller as well…..I know the 87 cartoon also does that but it just feels so much better in the 03 cartoon though unfortunately any those turtles don’t look like teens but at least they got the height thing right :/
I would love to see you talk about ninja turtles the next mutation. Its the ninja turtles I grew up with and I never hear people talk about it
Check out Phelous here on youtube. He reviewed every single episode of that series.
W cold ones clip insert max and chad are LEGENDS
the one thing you can say about these movies is the turtles themselves were perfectly cast (besides johnny knoxville lol) but i could see the second movies cast being reused for an animated show n it'd work completely, it's pretty much everything besides them in these movies that don't work tho
I honestly and ironically but also unironically like these movies. Mostly because of nostalgia
Anymore new gutter space videos in the future there's alot to talk about a new Hellboy game, superman reboot, Hugh Jackmans Wolverine in Deadpool 3 us rumors of past fox X-men actors coming back in Secret Wars
This version of Shredder reminds me of the 2003 Shredder I thought that's what they were going for
I Think it is OK for Donnie to be wearing glasses.
Plus I don’t like this Casey at all (Same with OOTS Leo.)
at least no studio to my knowledge has given the turtles human ears either that they don't care or know that turtle ears don't stick out
The poster for the 2014 movie actually got controversial so with them falling from an explosion from a tower and yeah you get it
the sequel was a step in the right direction. I think they could've nailed it with the 3rd one and a few years to develop.
Agreed
As long as they keep Megan Fox as April, they would never nail it. She is the problem. 😂
Answer: "NO!". Next question, please.
Why don’t they just adapt the original animated series in 2003
Like how a movie adapts a book faithfully
19:37 those are funny little characters, I like that
Holy shit, I never put together the "Oroku Saki/Erik Sacks" connection.
"And now a word from our sponsors"
Me: "I can wait"
"Raid Shad-"
Me: "skip! skip! skip!"
The elevator scene is probably the best pet of the first movie
