What a great version of this song. BOBBY COULD SING ANYTHING!!. WHAT A VOICE!. the BEST EVER. Miss him. RIP AND GOD BLESS. AND ANNETTE .Y CAN BOTH SING AND DANCE IN HEAVEN. LOVE U BOTH. IM SO SAD THEY R GONE. .😢😢😥😥😧😞😭💯🙏🙏
God bless you Bobby and Annette, sad to hear of his passing today,4/5/22😔 love this great clip of another time and world. Wish I had been there but wasn't born till 1970
What a doll. I always find myself smiling each time I watch Annette sing in the first half of this clip. Each time. And I don't even realize it, I do it without thinking.
Annette sang the way her personality was - untouched and natural. THAT is exactly what Walt Disney wanted and that is why he handpicked her. She had the innocence of youth - and was of her time. Pure, fresh, raw, girlish. She is remembered for exactly her character and that was vital with Walt. He wanted youth sincere, not made up teenagers... unlike the plastic, electronically manufactured of little pop stars today.
Brings back some great memories. Loved Annette, and miss her. Saw her dancing with Bobby Burgess on this video. Remember them being on Mickey Mouse Club together when we were ALL much younger. What fun!!
It's great to see Bobby Rydell in such High Def color! Most of his posts are blurry, black & white TV appearances. He's always good, but this is a nice surprise.
A time when life was simple. thank god for the technology so we can play and watch these legends over and over. Pour me 10 cent coffee ,put a dime in the jukebox , and enjoy life .
Sensational clip, thanks Lorene! Can't stop watching. Of course I've known about Annette since I was a kid in the '60's, and - as usual - she's wonderfully refreshing. Shout out to all her fans and to her (no doubt smiling down at us from above...). Rydell, however, is a revelation to me! I'd seen the film version of Bye Bye Birdie in the past, but seeing a recent clip of the 'I've got a lot of living to do' sequence crystallized for me the level of his talent - he has MAJOR singing chops and style. And this live performance magnifies it further (like the clip of him singing 'All of me' on Danny Thomas's 'Make Room for Daddy', also on RUclips). His ease with the jazzy arrangement makes me long to hear him sing the Great American Songbook just like Ella and so many other greats have done. Anyway, props to you again, Lorene, for bringing this 5:27 of joy to life! :-)
Wow! what a surprise seeing the video of Annette Funicello and Bobby Rydell. Annette was always as cute as a button and sang that way too. I loved her beach movies. The star, undoubtedly, of this show is the wonderful Bobby Rydell. I loved how he played around with the hit 'Around the world' jazzing it up to give it a swing beat. This was a singer who always sang "out-of-the-box" making the song his very own like no other. There are, of course, traces of Frank Sinatra and Micheal Buble in his voice and this is what gives him that special edge. I am a humongous fan of Bobby's super hit "Bye, bye, birdie" with that ball of fire, the gorgeous Ann Margret. The kids brought the roof down with their number "I've got a lot of livin to do" and "One boy'. Both Annette and Bobby was passed away not too long ago will always be loved and remembered and appreciated for years to come.
This is a great version of this great song, in fact, the best version I've heard. And I've heard maybe around ten or so, give or take, including Sinatra's.
So beautiful as she sang that song, was Annette Funicello , and as always, Bobby Rydell excellently sings his piece in classic style. Great video thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing Lorene Faith. I love watching the lovely Annette dancing with another former Mickey Mouse Club member, Bobby Burgess. He was such a great dancer and as you probably know when on to be part of the Lawrence Welk show.
Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Li'l Kim and all of the other so-called 'music queens' of today will NEVER achieve the perfection of sweet Annette! May she rest in Blessed Peace with the Lord for Eternity.
@mistressofaminer It is a shame what has happened to one of America's true sweethearts. I am so glad that the first part of her life was so wonderful. We love you Annette and always will.
I was in love with Annette from the Mickey Mouse Club days and remember seeing every one of the Beach movies. I knew a guy who was one of the Disney "kids" on the Disney lot. He saw Annette on the lot but didn't know her. He said she was certainly very charismatic. I was saddened to find she had MS. I also know the Sherman Brothers who wrote many of Annette's hits. Two very nice gentlemen. They liked her a lot.
Smut existed in 1962, but it was not really mainstream. And, in this piece of early 1960s Americana, you had the natural talent and kid-friendly charisma of Annette, Frankie and Bobby. You're right: this is entertaining, and certainly better than the overdone, oversexed and tasteless stuff that they come up with today.
I like how the camera captures the young girl who seems to swoon over Bobby B at abt 3:24 and the girl in the white sweater at abt 3:54 suddenly seeing she's on camera. Great video! Thanks for loading.
I loved this clip...great quality, too! Annette looks so...different. And I don't know why. She's still just as beautiful as ever, just different. Hmmm. And I always liked Bobby Rydell. Nice song too! This clip is a keeper. For one thing, my wife is gonna love Annette's dress. I gotta show it to her.
I the the old days everyone respected ppl and holidays were real holidays andclean cut hair and dress bobby so happy and good sport and sings so wonderful and annett love it them parts look fun
@ohhhwolfy I am so glad that you are enjoying the clip and thanks for letting me know. I adore Annette. She is one of America's sweethearts and always will be. So is Bobby!
@mistressofaminer It truly was a wonderful time. I was a young child in the early sixites and feel so lucky to have grown up in the sixties and seventies.
I always thought that Bobby Rydell was very talented, as a teenager in England I think the first record that I heard was forget him. I did not know that he was also into acting. Very interesting upload. I ,can see why Disney wanted Annette Funicello, she is the epitome of the decency of older America , or as in England at the time, am I looking through rose coloured specs?
A true "million dollar baby" in a 5 and 10 cent song to paraphrase. Annette is gorgeous here without the ludicrous hairstyle inflicted upon her in the "Beach" movies.
Annette talked about that and said she had to have it that way for some reason. OK, I found it: articles.latimes.com/1993-09-27/entertainment/ca-39715_1_annette-funicello I have naturally curly hair, and so the minute I go in the water, that's the worst place for me. So for all the beach pictures, I wore a wig, and they used to spray it. There I was on the surfboard, every hair in place. And that just followed me throughout all the pictures. Even now, people will say, "How come your hair never moved?"
@@Johnnycdrums thanks for this info . I really like this bass player , he’s really into it, I wish there was music like this played somewhere in the modern world we live in
You could be right abt Richard Dreyfus. Who is the woman in orange who snaps a photo b4 Bobby starts to sing? Am wondering if the camera captures some notables. I recently learned these were Disney musicians who backed Bobby, not the Elliott Bros.
I have watched this video many times and I think I see a very young actor - Richard Dreyfuss - standing in the audience. He can be seen at 2:19 and 3:14. Has anyone else seen him also?
@terrryc Bobby Rydell did not have to impersonate anyone else. He was a star and very popular for himself and had several hits of his own. The Bobby that Annette was dancing with was known way before The Lawrence Welk show. He was a fellow child actor of Disney films and was in Song of the South and So Dear To My Heart. His last name was Driscoll.
Annette never looked cuter....Bobby Rydell impersonates BobbyDarin, and Annette dances with that other Bobby from the Lawrence Welk Show....Los Angeles must have been a VERY small scene in those days...
Now Bobby Rydell and Annette Funicello can sing together once again in heaven. RIP both legends!
When did Bobby rydell past away? From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I went to Disneyland when I was six years old in 1958. I was a lucky kid with the best parents. Great memories, thanks for the download.
I was lucky to dance onstage with Bobby, Fabian and Frankie Avalon several years ago. So much fun
Wow! What a wonderful experience that would have been!

Bobby's voice is so smooth and amazing

RIP Bobby Rydell. May you and Annette enjoy another Song & Dance in Heaven. Thank you for all the entertainment.
A wonderful show and Annette and Bobby sparkled on this fabulous Walt Disney Wonderful World of Color Telecast! Loved reliving the moment.
Brings back some great memories. Loved Annette, and miss her. Saw her dancing with Bobby Burgess on this video. Remember them being on Mickey Mouse Club together when we were ALL much younger. What fun!!

What a charming sweetheart Annette was.

Watch Bye Bye Birdie! It's lovely, you can see him great there. Hugs, to ya friend! Have a groovy one!
Glad you enjoy the video John!
This is the best kind of entertainment.

Bobby Burgess one terrific dancer!
The trumpet Player to the right of Bobby and Annette is Disney Legend Ron Logan.
Thanks for sharing this special moment from Disney with beautiful Annette and talented Bobby!
Thats Bobby Burgeses dancing with Anette he and Anette were mousekateers together
Yes, indeed. At this time, he was working for Lawrence Welk on his TV show and Barbara Boylan was his dance partner.
Dario Witer what about "Bobby and Sissy." 💗
The girl at 3:13 is so excited to see Bobby Rydell but her boyfriend definitely doesn’t share her enthusiasm.
What a doll is right. So cute and what a personality!
I think every guy of my generation is or was at the time in love with beautiful Annette.I know I was.And of course ya gotta love Bobby.
RIP Bobby, now with our Annie... God bless your souls, both of you will never be forgotten... forever young!

Back in the safe and sane fully functional America.
Swingin' Annette counting on her fingers, so cute.
And 💓 that point exactly because Annette Funicello was genuine and pure, honest.
Bobby puts on a show
She was so so pretty 😍

They seem to be at the Space Place on a temporary stage. The spot was later filled by the Carousel of Progress, America Sings, Innoventions building.
Is it just me or can nobody clap to the beat in this vid? Regardless, everyone is having a good time in this wholesome piece of America past!
R.I.P Annette one of my first crushes
Mine too! And I’m only 22

Yea yea love the way she says that wat a doll
@LoreneFaith actually Bobby's last name is Burgess. Bobby Burgess was my favorite on the Welk Show and was really cute in the Micky Mouse Show.
The Disney parks need a show like this! Maybe at Hollywood Studios and California Adventure because they’re both old Hollywood themed!
A great idea! 😊
That was great!!
An excellent voice

michael berry America was pretty cool then, but rose-colored specs may play some part in it. But then, why not? Just enjoy!
There of course was a lot of difficulty for someone of color but it was a great time in America!
Annette is dancing with "BOBBY" - both were on The Mickey Mouse Club...
i agree 100%

Lucky girl!!!
The days when Disney was wonderful. Too bad that is well OVER!
She was just a doll.
@Jasonstreamline I totally agree! She will always be one of America's sweethearts!
Thank God The Beatles came along soon after. But Annette is cute and sassy in this clip....
Bobby Burgess.....he STILL works for the Disney organization. Hope he has a great pension package..
@darlingpresleyrocks That is too funny! I had not thought about that. It sounds like Annette was way ahead of her time :)
Bass player layin' it down.
That bass player is great, any idea who he is. What sort of beat is this and how can I find more bass riffs like this ?
@@georgiabigfoot ; Quarter Note “Walk” with various accents thrown in.
It’s swing music.

Annette dancing with former Mouseketeer Bobby Burgis who went on to dance on the Lawrence Welk Show!

I like her better in this style than in the later beach movies where she tries to sing the Donna Loren type ballads
@aeromilagro85 I don't think he looks like Michael York but I do agree, he is handsome and what a smile and voice.
The people were having so much fun watching the show that the band leader had to convince them to dance.
1:39 Let the twitters tweet??? Did they have Twitter back then?? haha!!
Totally disagree. He has a great voice and a beautiful smile.
Annette Funicello is the quintesential nice Italian girl.
Cheesecake so hot she could melt any heart just by singing one note!
It must have been! :)

do any 1 have da full movie to disney after dark if u do please put it n order on here
THE HOTTEST GIRL NEXT DOOR...........EVER....AND WITH A GREAT HAIRDO HERE, UNLIKE THE HIDEOUS HAIRSTYLE SHE WAS MADE TO EFFECT IN THE BEACH MOVIES
She said "Tweeters Tweet". Prophetic?
Were the Elliott Brothers the house band for Disney ? Or do they have their own work ? They are really good
Lovely video : ) Does anyone happen to know the date in which this was filmed?
This will be us when we time travel someday. Haha XD literally best moment and we weren't even born yet.
I heard it was filmed in 1961 and released in 1962.
Poor Annette could not sing very well, but she was indeed an American original.
she has a tiny dancer body!.
A Wayne Newton clone by the sound of it.
After 1985, music has taken a nose dive into a pile of crap.
Annette never looked cuter....Bobby Rydell impersonates BobbyDarin, and Annette dances with that other Bobby from the Lawrence Welk Show....Los Angeles must have been a VERY small scene in those days...
Too bad she had to grow up.
