I am 33 and I am finally battling this fear. For anyone out there that feels ashamed, don’t. Some of us are older than you and are in this battlefield as well. I am going for my permits test next month, I cannot live like this anymore. We got this ! I got this ! You got this !
i’m 22 and haven’t driven since i got my license.. i remember the very first time i drove i had a minor wreck but i was so embarrassed. that was when i was around 17. so its been years. i’m embarrassed to ask anyone to help me gain comfortable in driving years later. i can’t lie im embarrassed. my anxiety doesn’t come from fear of unpredictably as much as it is my struggle with focus it’s very difficult for me to stay focused. not even like being on my phone it’s just such a mundane task that my brain forgets to pay attention to
This video just reminded me so much of how I felt when I first started driving. Something that really helped me when I was starting for a couple of weeks, maybe even a month, was driving without any music at all. Somehow I felt comfort in just being able to listen to everything around me.
i got my permit a while ago , and i’ve been really wanting to get my own car but im TERRIFIED of driving. It’s more of the fear of hitting someone else’s property , i drove around in the neighborhood yesterday. I think i just need to push myself to feel comfortable with it, i can’t wait till i look back and say wow i did that 😹
I 💯 agree with you. I'm always so nervous of hitting someone else and I'm worried because I always see so much road rage. Some people get so narky on the road and It makes me so nervous. Like I know I can drive and be confident but I always second guess mystery sometimes. But just wanted to say all the best on you're journey. 🙏
Mine comes from the person teaching me to drive they’re too quick tempered so it makes me nervous 😭and the older i get the more embarrassed i am to ask someone else for help
I really love how you said it, Do not complicate driving. I'll share this video with others. It's the best I've read on how to overcome driving anxiety.
I’m 46 passed my test last year late in life due to lack of money etc but here in Uk we have all the gears ( stick shift) clutch break accelerator. I hate roundabouts etc very narrow roads… just taking it slow me and my daughter went to the shops I was worried all the way but we did it!!!
Congratulations❤️ Thats such a huge accomplishment. Thank you for never giving up. Im blessed that the US is more lenient. I totally understand. Keep going :)
I lowkey have anxiety when I’m driving with people, it’s just because most people they’re just as nervous as you when being in the car with you, so when they’re over reacting i over react even more that’s why I love driving by myself lol
You’re video has helped me out a lot I’m 25 years old and I’m nervous to drive because i been in a lot of accidents but this year I’m going to overcome my fear ♥️🙌🏾💯
I'm 15 and i was supposed to get my permit a few months ago but got scared because for like 3 ish years i almost got into a car accident and usually things like that don't bother me but this time it was really close and i can't stop thinking that if my dad didn't come we would have been seriously injured because he was the only one that saw the car speeding up at the red light. this video and the comments have made me feel more comfortable a bit and that now i know i'm not alone
Thank you so much I needed this. I only drive for short distance because of my workplace, but soon I will have to find another job, so I need to fix my mentality of having "driving anxiety" bcos all my friends drive better than me and I don't wanna be stuck being scared because being able to drive with own car is something very beneficial and I don't wanna be missing out.
i loooked up alot of videos on this topic, this video was the most helpful. not saying the others werent good vids, but i do want to thank you because most of the tips you gave were very helpful cause it was all mental. "manifesting" by continuing to say i have anxiety and prolonging it makes it worse, Being aware that I AM IN CONTROL of this car was very helpful tip you gave, and bonding with your car and getting comfy in it instead of looking at it as a death machine. I took on that wheel after i listened to you, i did it!!!!!! when i would get anxiety id pulll over to the side as u recommended, took deep breaths, did affirmations and got back to it. THANK U BABYGIRL!
I just turned 17 had my permit for almost a year now and I have only drove for 10 hours and need 60non all to try and take the drivers test. My first experience of driving was not the best which lead me to be extra nervous about driving. I got the hang of most of it but my mom is trying to get me to drive on the route to my school this week and I'm very nervous about hurting anyone or crashing or the Lord knows what. I just worry over many silly things.
I got my license and my own car for about a year and some months now but im still very anxious to drive. Some ppl just drive very recklessly and so many times a car accident almost happened. I had just started getting calmer while driving, i didnt have panic attacks, i wasnt sweating nor my stomach was hurting ,i trusted myself but on one roundabout a car entered at the last second when i had already entered the roundabout. It wasnt a serious crash, no ppl were harmed and the lady from the other car was nice too but all of that just made me so unsure. I felt like a trash ,like im dangerous for society even tho the fault wasnt rlly mine or at the very least both me and the woman were in fault. I never drive recklessly ,im trying to be as careful as possible cuz im anxious. My problem is that i had just gotten comfortable w driving but after the accident my anxiety returned and when im behind the wheel my mind just replays the moments of the crash and i get scared that it might happen again. My friends understand that i have a driving anxiety, but my family members dont nd r rushing me to return to driving. Rn im the only one w a car in the family and as much as i want to help, i feel too scared. Either way I'll be forced to have a longer trip next week and hopefully itll go well... I cant say im particularly ashamed of my fear, ik its rational and that my car is also pretty old, it has a lot of problems but im rlly sick of this anxiety. I have friends who have licenses for as long as i do or for even less time and they feel so comfortable while driving and arent scared(still, they arent driving recklessly). I just wish i was like them, not worrying and overthinking it sm cuz at the end of the day having a car is vsry convenient and I'll eventually have to get over my fear, i just dont know when itll happen..
I’m 21 and I just got my permit. I’ve drove on the road maybe 3 times at night. My family has no patience to help me and gets so mad when I don’t feel comfortable doing something or the fact that I waited so long to drive.. :( so watching these videos and knowing i’m not alone makes me feel so much better. 💛
I got my permit at 16 but had a small accident from someone almost hitting me and i curved into a stop sign, im 18 now and have only driven a handufl of time since then but i am slowly getting over that fear and the other day i actually wanted to drive, i am hoping to get my license by the end of june
I passed my test at 20/21 but the anxiety to drive is too real. I’m 28 now and I know I need to suck it up and try. It’s just the highway literally makes me shake so I make my husband drive. Maybe I should just drive a short distance at first.
The only fear that comes from driving is coming up with the clutch in a petrol car. I learned in a manual diesel car... Currently having a lot of practice at night. Edit: but that's for me tho
I just had an idea today I’ve been having attacks this week and stayed home I made myself go for a drive but I had an idea to video record myself to give my mind the visual to see that I am safe while driving I think it helped
not at all!! The test is like 5-10 Minutes long the only way to fail is by making too many silly mistakes even then you can always keep retaking it. If you make a full stop behind the stop signs, go the speed limit, and stay in your lane. You’ll pass ☺️
