    I am very jealous of your beautiful milk soaps, I halve the creaminess of milk soaps but I have never really been able to achieve the lovely light ivory colour which you have plus I can always detect that slight ammonia smell despite trying to keep everything cool, powdered milks have been the most successful for me but now you have wetted my appetite to try again especially if it snows here in London! I also love the idea of Rye milk, not sure if we can buy that easily here like almond and oat milks but probably similar qualities? did you find very much difference in using the two different milk soaps of in a blind test maybe you would know? just curious. Thank you for a beautiful feature film....not just a video!🥰

    • @tellervo.
      @tellervo.  Год назад

      Aw thank you so much! There was a light smell for me too, but it went away after a day or so. I think rye milk would be very similar to oat milk🙂 When I tried the soaps, the one with goat milk felt creamier to me and the rye milk one had more bubbles!

    • @artycrafty9209
      @artycrafty9209 Год назад

      @@tellervo. That is so interesting, I suppose its bubbles or creaminess to choose from which is a menace as I like both! either way milk soaps if you can perfect them (note to myself) like you have done are a little bit special especially for the winter months. I must make some more having seen your lovely soaps.

    Do you have a special reason, why you don’t freeze the rye milk too? Is it because you want to use snow for lye and add the milk later? I have never used rye milk before, so this is the reason why I am asking. Perhaps rye milk is not ideal to freeze. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Great video. What is rye milk? I googled “Finnish rye milk” but nothing came up. I’m curious.

      It's a new product, very similar to oat milk. It's made with rye grains instead of oat grains, it's a little thicker in texture and not as sweet in flavor.

    Hi! Thanks for your video)
    please tell me, why it is not recommended to add more than 7% of castor oil to the recipe?

    • @tellervo.
      @tellervo.  Год назад +1

      It could make the soap a bit sticky, but I think it's fine to go over 7% but not that much

    Hi! I am new to soap making:) I just tried the lovely lather recipes from your book and I was going to unmould it on next day as the book says. But it was still greasy and slimy at that point and today is the second day of waiting(still not hard enough to cut). Is the room temperature or something else affecting the soap for hardening? (I used the 700ml loaf mould and I am based in London)

    • @tellervo.
      @tellervo.  Год назад

      That's weird, i'm wondering if the batter emulsified properly or if you poured at a very light trace. Cool temperatures can also slow down the hardening process. Have you been able to cut it yet?

    • @studiolemonlatte
      @studiolemonlatte Год назад

      @@tellervo. Oh..the texture looked lovely when I poured but, I had let them by the window for the whole time..! I was be able to cut carefully on the third day while it was still lil delicate. Today I’ve poured another and, just now moved it near a warm spot :)
      Thanks a lot for your reply! Your book is very easy to read as a person with ADHD.

    Is preservative needed in cold pressed soap?
    And sodium phytate can be used in cold pressed soap?

      It's not necessary. I think it can be used but I have no personal experience with it

      So without preservative, how long it will stay in room temperature? Like shelf life ?
