I just love when the orchestra gets the music right just like the movie it’s almost like being in the movie
fun fact! dirk lumbard (tin man) was my drama teacher in kindergarten and first grade. he was so fun and he had me do a tap dance session with him in front of the class. he told us all about him and showed us a clip from this !!

abeiscool40 This touring production was actually the follow up to the MSG tour so it only made sense. Most of the actors were in fact the same when the tour started.
Yes, they did, and for the tour they had to hire little people for the munchkins, and use local kids to fill them out. I was one of the original 100 little people that auditioned in 1997 when Rosane was the wicked witch, they even had her come in during our call back and scare us to see how high we could jump. and after that in October of 97, i got hired by the Garden to do the holoween haunted house there, and worked with Kim who is one of the munchkins and a Oz citizen, and later did love never dies.
Wow! The camera's auto-focus clearly had a difficult time keeping up, but that tornado sequence looked incredible! And for the cast to so perfectly replicate the backing vocals in the score is phenomenal. People simply don't sound like that anymore. It was breathtaking. And Joanne Worley? Be still my beating heart!
I always loved Jo Anne Worley! She was lovely & hilarious in just about everything she was in.

I saw this tour, it was fantastic!
My dad and I went to a wizard of play. It was incredible they all were great and after the show I got to go in the two door when the witch arrives and it’s a extremely tight. Bravo to all the actresses that play as her.

When my high school did "The Wizard of Oz", I tried to get them to do that "THEY'RE GONE!!! NO!!! THE RUBY SLIPPERS ARE GONE!!! Are they in the house? NO!!! HAVE YOU SEEN THE RUBY SLIPPERS?!" thing, but they didn't.

Its so funny to me watching Jo Anne Worley in this. cause I saw her live at the same theater as Madame Morrible in Wicked. So im still hearing Madame Morrible as she plays the Wicked witch XD.

I just love the adaptation of the Wicked book by Gregory Maguire.i adore the fact that they mixed wicked with the wizard of oz

I saw this in Portland, OR in 1999. I was seven.
Saw this production in Phoenix when it was on tour. I was 5 and Mickey Rooney was the wizard. I wasn't sure who did the wicked witch of the west but my guess is eartha kitt played her. It was a magical time for a 5 year old that's for sure

Nope, the original came from a VHS copy I made off the TV at the time. That's just the quality of technology then!

How the hell did this show manage to throw those fireworks on stage around all that tulle in the costumes?! Considering Margaret Hamilton's unfortunate accident while filming the 1939 movie, I suppose the worst case scenario would be to say an accident would make it more authentic (Ha!) But seriously - that could have turned really ugly.
This is what I imagine when I see a theatre production. What I saw today was good but it strayed too far from the original wizard of oz 😢

I'd cut him some slack. He was close to 80, and it was a grueling performance schedule.
I usally dont like the witch of the west in any performance . Hamilton is a act you cant touch......But this Witch Of The West ....I loved!
