My goodness she's a great actress too! She reminds me a lot of Judy Garland with the way she talks as Dorothy! Her acting with the scarecrow reminded me a lot of the original scene in the movie! Well done! ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely charming. The parallels between this Dorothy and Judy Garland are way past spooky. The acting voice is so similar. She did a fabulous job. I loved that the "farm hands" were so 'just saying lines' before they turned into their alter egos. Great sets and a terrific pit orchestra. This deserves more views. Thank you for sharing.
Always interesting to see how ensembles pull off the tornado scene in their productions. This one was pretty cool with the aerial acrobatics. The special effects for the wizard were also pretty awesome! It was nice, too, that the script had some extra dialogue thrown in here and there and wasn’t just a retelling of the movie script that most of us probably know by heart because we’ve seen the movie so many times. I watched a few other high school productions here on RUclips, and this one by far is the best! The four main characters really knew how to sing, dance, and act.
This was the best high school production I have ever seen everybody did a great job all the actors were fantastic the lion was right on and Dorothy was awesome everybody all the actors were great great job really enjoyed watching this musical loved it ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can’t with this sweet Dorothy actress!! It’s actually spooky how close to the original she is.... Goosebumps all over!! I hope she comes across these comments one day!! You sweet girl should consider real acting!! You have so much talent!! As well as all of these cute munchkins!!
Probably the best designed, acted and directed highschool production I've ever seen, and I've watched hundreds of these. The scenery is beautifully cohesive it all fits in the same world and it has a storybook charm to it that even professional productions seem to miss. Love the inclusion of the map of oz as part of the backdrop. The entrance of the witch into munchkinland, and the melting were PERFECTLY EXECUTED. Love the pyrotechnic effects and the way they were done. The illusion part of the set for the melting was also done in a way far more interesting than even the national tour set.
Wow!! How is it that nobody commented on the young lady playing Dorothy. This just showed up in my You Tube feed in 2021. Bravo to the whole cast. Very professional job. But the young lady playing Dorothy....gave me chills! Reminded me of Judy Garland. I hope you went on into the performing arts or music. Cudos to Toto too! I think he was a bit scared by the applause and lights but he/she did a great job!
If I was a hair/costume/dialogue/stage director professional I would tell them to make the players look like the original movie actors and do there hair the way it was too. The scarecrows original score was cut down in the movie, in 1939 to speed up the film because of budget reasons the shortened to just him singing from 🎵I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers consulting with the rain🎵:-) see I'm a perfectionist I can't help myself. They also cut down the extended conversation with tin man and Dorothy after he is oiled up the first time and just says 'awhile ago, I was chopping that tree and suddenly it began to rain'. Then finished with 'Bang on my chest if ya think im perfect?! then he begins singing with 🎵 when a man's an empty kettle, he should be on his metal, but yet I'm torn apart🎵. Not the words I never heard of at the start of the song?? 🤔 Ok gonna chime in again. When the WW confronts Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man in the Apple Orchard, she used all the lines of that scene from the movie, but she extended it which I suppose would be ok but it takes up abit of stage time before extras want to do their parts 'You call that long?? Why you've just begun! Helping the little lady along my fine gentleman. Just remember, helping her won't help you both. Then she flies off back to her castle 🏰 which is behind the curtain lol 'like pay no attention to the flying girl behind the curtain' 🤣🤣🤣 why does the lion have a different start of his song??
2:09:49 Toto receives an accidental knock on his noggin during the final bow, but not too bad. These high school kids put in a superior effort. Better than many professional shows also viewable on RUclips. Bravo!
So lucky!!! I'm playing Dorothy in my highschool's production in May, and our Jitterbug number is just 6 minutes straight of non-stop dancing! 😪😮💨 I absolutely love it, but it's so tiring!
I must say that the girl who played Dorothy Gale does talk and sing like Judy Garland and the girl who plays Glinda the good witch does talk and sound like Billie Burkes. Both done an amazing job performing those characters of the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie.
1.28.24 lion sounds like the original actor Bert Lahr if you put the speed on the one under (normal) 1.25x wow! 😯 The guy playing him is very funny on that speed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 error: they got the characters witch killing items wrong way round. Scarecrow should have a pretend pistol, Tin had a wrench and lion had the "Witch Repellent Spray" and the net. Die hard Oz fan here lol 😁👍
58:43 Lion King reference. 80 years after The Wizard of Oz lol 🤣 🎶The Circle of Life 🎶 🎶oh he just can't waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait to be kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing🎶 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 sorry to many wines 🍷🍷🍷
The Wizard of Oz is definitely the horror movie with Judy Garland as Dorothy Just like any horror movie of the Wizard of Oz 1939 during of the interview therapy
I just saw this n found it so wonderful to watch. It’s beautifully done. The young girl playing Dorothy is captivating n she sounds like Judy Garland herself. I’ve seen other productions n the Dorothy character has been done with no feelings n seems just bland. Everyone here is wonderful!! As much fun to watch as the movie 🌈
I’m gonna be putting this comment on a bunch of wizard of oz musicals. Anyways, I’m here to study up for my auditions that are 2 months away. Yes. 2 months. That is how exited I am. This is the second one I’ve seen so far and it looks rlly good from what I’ve seen! I’m gonna be auditioning for either Glinda, scarecrow, and maybe cowardly lion (but he is just an afterthought). Ik I’m gonna hate Glinda’s dress but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make for a chance to not be in ensemble for once in my life. In the replies It’s just gonna be updates on how I’m feeling about the upcoming rehearsals and how it’s like to be in a wizard of oz production, what I’ve been working on in rehearsals and stuff.
Idk how I feel about the length of most of the shows I’ve seen on RUclips since most of them are 2 hours and we normally do 1 hour productions. No idea how we will shorten this thing but ok.
What I cant figure out is why they didn't have Dorothy just run to the house, go in and it turns around once then she is at her bedroom window and then it keeps turning and circling the stage until she is in Oz Instead of lifting her body in the air near the house at the start of the tornado coming with trick wires and a waist harness? 🏡🌪️🪂🤷 Also 20:00 where were was the old granny in the rocking chair? flying animals? the 2 men in a boat...then Miss Gulchs twister flying transformation??
Tams Witt mark (the company of whom obtain the licensing rights to the Wizard of Oz) allow optional script/score changes for consideration of time. This is an example of a time cut.
Haha big bird. Im just at miss gulchs part.i have to speed up the vocals on her voice so she sounds like Margaret Hamilton the original Wicked Witch from the 1939 movie.
The applause was so well deserved during the tornado scene. I’ve never seen a HS production where someone is suspended like that. Incredible work!
P😊
My goodness she's a great actress too! She reminds me a lot of Judy Garland with the way she talks as Dorothy! Her acting with the scarecrow reminded me a lot of the original scene in the movie! Well done! ❤️❤️❤️

Nice acting
Wicked Witch doesn't sound anything like Margaret Hamilton from 1939. I can actually do her original voice and I'm male!

Maggie may have been born to the stage but got the brains as well and earned an engineering degree!
Best version since the 1939 original, phenomenal!
I like the way the Kansas scenes were sepia toned like the movie.
"He's very gentle, to gentle people that is." DISSSSSEDDDDDDD

Bille Burkes as Gilnda becomes the Villain in the interview therapy it was really wired and creepy
The scarecrow needs a brain the tin man needs a heart and the cowardly needs. Courage
Belle she roll the play beauty and the beast musical
Omg the lady laying dorothy is literally judy Garland soul
1.12.13 They do extended lyrics in their songs like it was deleted from the 1939 movie and released on the soundtrack or something? 😁👍❤️💛🧡💜💙💚
