Years ago, when I was probably about 9 or 10, my mom and sister and I saw Eartha Kitt in a production of Cinderella where she played the Fairy Godmother. She was a true talent for sure.
they should bring this back as a revival with Glenn Close , Dick Van Dyke , Carol Burnett , Ariana Grande , Matthew Morrison , Ben Stiller , Norm Lewis etc.
why does the Wicked Witch of the West need the ruby slippers and how come both the Munchkins , the Winkies and flying monkeys celebrate when both Wicked Witches of the East and West are dead
To answer your queries. For starters, the Wicked Witch wants the ruby slippers to increase her magic powers in order for her to overthrow the Wizard. And also a memorabilia of her late sister: The Wicked Witch of the East. The Jitterbug is actually a number that was written for the original movie, but was cut during production. But it has been put back into the story via the musical. You realize that in the movie, after Dorothy and friends meet the Wizard there are no more songs. The bug itself is actually supposed to be a sort of mosquito that makes you dance into exhaustion once it bites you. The Witch used it incapacitate the main characters (Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion) so that her Flying Monkeys can easily capture Dorothy without much struggle. Why did the Wizard want the Witch's broom? It was just an excuse for him to keep up the illusion that he is an all-powerful Wizard, and stay hidden from the rest of Oz that thinks he's a hero, when he's a liar. As for that last one... You're seriously asking that question? They're Wicked Witches. It's in their titles. Enslaving the Munchkins, Winkies and Monkeys, while clutching Munchkinland and Winkie Country with an iron fist.
This may favorite wizard of oz production!!! I same some other videos of this show also and one I taped in 2016 which was excellent! Do you have a full video of this production as earth the kid I know there’s one out there?
I am dying for that! Been looking for footage like this for years! Also this is the clearest footage of the Cyclone scene. Was the cylone done with projections (I'm referring to the actual tornado when everyone's running around before Dorothy goes up) or was it practical effects? @@NTAFilms

I can’t get over just how good a quality a bootleg this is
Thank you so much for sharing this treasure of a recording with us!!! Eartha was absolute perfection…
Yes she was I saw her in Philadelphia amazing performance
if she was still alive, i could see her as cruella de vil in a production of a hundred and one dalmatians
I showed this to my niece who said, “The Wicked Witch sounds like Yzma from the Emperor’s New Groove.”
To which I said, “Funny you should say that…”
they should bring this back as a revival with Glenn Close , Dick Van Dyke , Carol Burnett , Ariana Grande , Matthew Morrison , Ben Stiller , Norm Lewis etc.
Yzma was the wicked witch of the west, while tod the fox or lampie (from pete's dragon) was the wizard, so cool!!!
Always regretted not being able to see this. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
9:53 Eartha Kitt slaps Bob Dorian's hand!
That's funny, Bob, and reminds me so much of EWtha';s spunky character!
