For those of you wondering about an adult sized blanket. I had my fiancé help me with the math.
You’ll need 63 squares.
15 going down, 12 across
What were the dimensions of the finished afghan using 63 squares?
If you are doing 12 squares across and 15 squares down wouldn’t you need 180 squares total?
How many squares in total?
@@leeannmorrison6607 it’s(15sqaures) 67in down (12squares) 54in across, 180squares in total
Would adding extra squares affect assembling the blanket at the end? Or can the instructions just be extended to include more squares? Thx!

I cannot tell you how excited I am to start working on this project. I LOVE how cute and Springy it is and just seeing it makes my heart so happy!
Ah yay I'm so glad you love it!
I love this… I watched the whole video at work the other day and now I’m back with my yarns on my couch
thank you so much ❤️
I finished the blanket, and now i have to weave in ends and block it somehow. I thoroughly enjoyed making this blanket for a friend whose baby shower is Saturday! 🎉 i believe it took me 3 and a half weeks to complete stitching.
Wonderful!
I have watched so many videos on how to make a blanket like this and found your video. I am so incredibly grateful that I did because not only have I gotten further with your help but I have almost mastered the magic ring! No other video explains it the way you do and I am so happy to finally get this project in motion! Thank you thank you thank you!!❤❤❤❤
THANK YOU!!
Thank you for your hard work. I successfully completed the project by following your instructions ❤️
So I bought my yarn a couple days to do this blanket. I bought the mustard and the ivory but instead of sage, I’m using crisp air. I’m excited to get started!!
Making this blanket now but instead of green I’m using duty rose. I have never done granny squares before. You have made these instruction and following you along makes this very easy. Thank you so much .
Im glad this was helpful for you!
I am almost finished with mine; a gift for my cousins new baby. Loved this 💜
Wonderful!
Are you beginner? I wanna do one for my cousin baby too🥹 but this is going to be my first thing to crochet so I am not sure
Beautiful I'm going to attempt to crochet this blanket for my little granddaughter Daisy
Thats so perfect!
Awww what a precious baby! Love this blanket. You did a wonderful job. Thanks🌸
Thank you so much ❤️ !
My Daisy is my favorite flower and it’s was my Pembroke Corgi name. She in heaven with grandparents.
I absolutely love your channel and this blanket is gorgeous! I have made so many things I never would have and they all turn out beautifully! Thank you!!
Ah you're so kind thank you!
Love this, thanks for the tutorial! I made a modified version and did a small 12 square doll blanket. First time doing granny squares and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Thanks!

Just what I was looking for! Beautiful
Thank you so much ❤️ Im so glad you love it

Thank you very much for your help… I got in love of your design… it is my first time on crochet and I made a bag for my daughter and it looks amazing. Thank you again from Barcelona, Spain.
Loved it worked great thank you so much!
I love this. My friend asked me to make her one of these exact blankets. I was going to wing it from the picture she sent me and random RUclips videos. So glad their is a tutorial for the exact blanket I'm making for her. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
I’m excited to get started on this baby blanket! I love your tutorials and you are a ray of sunshine!☀️❤
Thank you so much!
This is a lifesaver, I just found out my friend is pregnant with twin girls and they're due to be born in 3 months 😭 she didn't wanna tell me earlier because she didn't want her good news to overshadow my wedding, like girl, give a friend some warning, I need time to prepare gifts for you 🤣
Beautiful blanket! Very well demonstrated!!!Thank You!
Thank you! I really appreciate it :)
I am working on this right now! Amazing and so beautifully explained! ❤
thank you!
This tutorial is super good. Love your method of changing color directly in slip stich 😀
Thank you ! I’m so glad you liked the tutorial :)
Thanks for doing this tutorial on this blanket and for sharing it for free. You’re a good teacher. Very easy to understand and the pace was perfect. Thanks again. Can’t wait to make this for a friend in the same mauve colors you did on your other blanket.
Thank you so much! Happy crocheting!!!
My squares are 5” unblocked. And they seem thicker than yours. I used the same brand as you. Is that still ok for a baby blanket? How do I fix that for the next one?
I LOVE your tutorial and your teaching style!
I love the mauve color too. Can you please tell me what color yarn it is. Thank you
Thank you for this tutorial ^_^ i bought your pattern and got confused on some of it so this really helped
Im so glad the video helped! THanks for supporting my shop!
Absolutely adorable!!
Definitely deserves more likes and views!
Ah thanks Roberta. I appreciate your kind words. I haven't been posting regularly and its affecting my views quite a bit lol. Hoping to get on a more regular schedule soon though!
I've been trying to start a crochet project for a while and this one feels doable, it's nice to see some beginner friendly patterns! Can't wait to finish it:)
You can do it!
Beautiful blanket
thank you so much ❤️
Very beautiful Thankyou for sharing this 😊looking forward to make this
Thank you I'm so glad you love it :)
Going to attempt one for my cousins rainbow baby
Oh I love that! What a sweet gift. I also have a Rainbow pillow pattern and a rainbow rattle pattern!
So beautiful. I love it. 😊❤
Ah thank you!
Makes sense. Thanks again.
You're welcome I'm glad you like it!
Gorgeous blanket 😍👍👏
Thank you so much ❤️
Looks unreal 🥰
Thank you :)
I start with chain 3 and then put 12 DC in first chain. I had a blanket with magic circle and it started to come undone because the ends were not secure enough. I use magic circle on hats and shawls but not on blankets anymore. This is especially bad when you have 48 squares
Just did my first square and obviously my tension is too tight as it’s small. Also didn’t realize it was a baby blanket. Will make more squares with a lighter tension but nervous I’ll run out of yarn. A learning process for sure. Thank you!
Good luck to you!
So beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
Ah thank you! And thanks for commenting!
I love your explanations throughout this tutorial! I'm new to your channel. Nice job!!
Thank you! and Welcome!
Love it 😀
thank you so much ❤️
I love this video! understood it all. thank you for teaching us how to make his blanket.
thank you so much. Im so glad you enjoyed it
When you go to add the green yarn., and are finishing up the cream. You say to pull it through your first petal, do you mean the three chain which is the first "petal" or the second one? (Not chain)
for you! When making the petals are we only going through one stitch of the mustard for every 4 white DC?
Love this tutorial, have been working on an adult sized blanket and putting it together for a while now, I am so confused about joining the squares when it comes to joining the second square in the next row, I did my JAYG stitches and reached the top of the square, preparing to join to the square above it but am at a loss of what to do with the extra stitch!
Me too. My stitches aren't lining up and I wish I could see this square join on a video. Thanks! I do LOVE this video
Humm. It's been a hot minute since I've made one of these so its not fresh on my mind. Have you tried reaching out inside of the Ash and Tay crochet FB group? A lot of people over there make my patterns and have probably made one more recent than I have. They're a very helpful bunch facebook.com/groups/ashandtay
I loved the tutorial. Very easy to follow. I’m using the same colors from Hobby Lobby in the soft and sleek but using soft and sleek chunky.
Wonderful!
When I get to the base color (green) there are visible holes from the chain 1 after the 3 hdc/dc. Is there anyway to fix this? This made my square bigger also. Unblocked it is about 5 inches by 5 inches. Besides that issue, this is a wonderful pattern.
Edit:
There was nothing wrong with the pattern, I was just not holding the yarn tight enough.
You are darling and I’m sUper excited to make this blanket for my new baby granddaughter this coming summer! Thank you!💞
the perfect gift!
Great tutorial made this for my niece and it is beautiful thank you
Hola!!! me encanto, me gustaria saber que grosor de lana usa y que medida de aguja. Muchas Gracias!!!
Ashley, in adding more squares to make it bigger, curious about the join process. Same? Just keeping going adding in the additional squares in each row?
Thats what I would do :)
Hi, I love this blanket pattern. Thank you so much for the wonderfully clear instructions! I do have one question. Why do you not count the first C3 of the gold center as a stitch? I keep getting this weird chain sort of floating on the back of the flower center.
its just personal preference
Hi I love this pattern! I'll be making it for future grandchildren. Im making it for my youngest daugter who just had a baby girl. I just started this blabket and its my first time😂 I had to mention that. After finishing all the pedals I realized where the first peddle is at the very beginning it's in a different spot than the others its under where its supposed to be, thats the best I can explain it. I'm concerned when I start the next color for the border that it might be a little crocked. What do you think I wish I could send a picture here but I dont think i can I looked
When joining the squares could you do the first 6 squares then repeat the next 6 squares and then join the two groups rather than adding square by square?
I was wondering the same thing! I'm thinking so!
I was wondering if there could be a different/ quicker way to join the squares.
I love this! Is there any way to make plain granny squares that go in between the flower squares to space them out and make a checkerboard pattern?
Yes! Just make each individual square and then crochet them together in whatever pattern you want
@@ACraftyConcept are all granny squares the same size? I also wanted to put a plain one in between. Tia
Love the blanket! I want a smaller version of this pattern. I’m wondering if I can scale down the daisy petals… would it have to be a multiple of 12 since your pattern calls for 12 petals?
I love this.. what yarn bee color did u use for the baby blanket, Mauve?
yes!
Lindo trabalho,este fio e algodão?ou acrílico
What color would you use to do your joins if you chose to an alternating background color?
Im not sure. I have only made them like this. You may have to use a different joining method if you use more than one color for the squares.
Hi. Can I use size #3 yarn for this?
Can you tell me what size each square should be? I think I need to block by size.
Is there a specific reason you don’t go through both squares at once to single crochet vs doing each side separately? Will it create too much of a raised part?
Grazie per questo tutorial. Che programma usi per disegnare sul tablet?
You are a fabulous teacher!! I can't wait to try this!❤
Im so excited to get started. Question about joining though, is there another joining method that I could use? This seems really complex. If I choose another joining method, is there anything I should be mindful of?
Thanks 🤩
for me I tie off each color it is a little more work but it make me feel better about it not coming undone. When you want to add another color join it where you tied off at, so far mine looks the same just have to crochet the squares together.
About to make this for my aunt its so stunning, roughly how many meters/yards of yarn did you use? I can't access the yarn shop webpage that you linked I think because of my country
Oh....auh..... That's so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Mrs Mary G Midland ts
when finishing off your square Ashley you should have done an invisible close that way you don't have that wonky bump on the top of your square.
So it’s 3 dc and a chain 1 around and 3 dc 2c 3dc in the corner?
I just bought this pattern to make for a gift for a friend's family member. Only problem is no one realized it's for a baby blanket size. Would you by chance be able to tell me how many squares you recommend making for a throw size? 48 x 60 maybe. I'm perfect following the pattern and video. It would just help me out a bunch if I knew the total amount squares I needed. Thanks.
Hi Rebecca Im not sure I haven't made a bigger one yet. I would make one square, measure it, then add up how many you'd need to get your desired length. Joining will add a little length too.
Hi so lovely. What size hook do you use. I'm using a g hook and i think my dquares are to big. 6 inches across. Should i use a smaller crochet hook?
I use a 5.0mm hook
I have a coworker that would like me to make this in a queen size.Is there an easier way to join the squares?I'm not super confident I could do it as you instruct.Love the pattern though!🙂
Google how to join granny squares, you'll find lots of different options.
The pattern says you used 5+3+2 5oz skeins of wool for the baby sized (32" X 39") blanket, so 50oz? Is that correct? Because I'm multiplying by 4 to make a single bed sized blanket, 200oz is a lot of wool! I just want to make sure before I order AU$400 worth of wool...
hey, this is an amazing tutorial, loved it!
if u done mind me asking but, what are the measurements of the blanket (length and width)
1:00:14 ❤️
@@ACraftyConcept oh didnt realize that sorry!
but thank u soo much 💞
@@omgitsaya_ You're totally fine. Also i just realized youtube will link the time spot like that.. that's pretty cool
I use a steam iron to block just don't touch the iron to it.
Does the pattern include how to sz up? This would be lovely for my daughters twin bed.
It does not, but you would just need to make more squares!
It’s my first granny square blanket and all of my squares ended up wavy. I think it’s the difference in the tension from the flower vs. the border. How do you avoid this? Feel like I wasted a lot of time.
I block mine. It helps a ton.
Hi, Ashley I am new to your channel. I was wondering how to make this beautiful blanket bigger. Thanks 🇨🇦🌺
Hey Julie! More squares! Add rows and columns of squares to make your blanket bigger
Hi,i am also new🤗i love the Blanket, my daughter asked me if i could make this for her. Do you know how much yarn i will need for a Blanket for 1 person?
What a beautiful blanket. Can you give the colors of the yarn please......
Oh never mind ty. I figured it out...
How long did it take ?
How did you block this blanket ?
Can I make the blanket bigger and still follow the tutorial as normal just for a bigger size blanket? Newbie here!
Yes! You should be able to
I love this so much! I've been looking for a good video tutorial! I'd like to make a 9 square baby lovey blanket. Do I need to change the size of the squares or any other modifications? Thank you so much!!
❤
What is blocking?
DO👏🏻NOT👏🏻DO👏🏻NOT👏🏻DO👏🏻NOT chain 3 for a double crochet at the beginning of every row/round!!!!!! Not unless you want to major gap in between your stitches. instead either use a stacked double crochet stitch or a standing double crochet stitch. You can look it up here on RUclips how to do both. Do not chain 3!!!
Thanks for this, never heard of a stacked double crochet before. Just checked it out and yes, defo gonna use this stitch instead of a chain 3 😊
I did the chain 3 😢 it left huge gaps then I had to change the ratio and start all over 30 patches again 😢
Is this even for the magic circle in the beginning?
This is a game changer!! I will be doing this from now on 🎉
For certain patterns, you have to chain up three. Unless you’re doing a video and explaining this, you should not have left this comment because you can confuse people when it comes to doing something like a pedal stitch. Which you absolutely need a chain three to get the desired height! If this was my video, I would have deleted this comment.
so the joining sucks. and i’m struggling after making all these squares what am i going to do.????? might just make up my own way to join all
yeah if this doesnt work for you try a different method! I would search youtube for "how to join granny squares"
Hi there! I was wondering if you had any of these available for purchase?
No I'm sorry I dont sell finished pieces. Pretty In Pate on Instagram may be taking orders!
How many grams are the individual yarn?
I think the buckling is from the single chain between the double crochet boarder. I omitted the single chain and it didn’t buckle.
thanks for the tip!
Beginner here! When I go to do the petals, I make the stitches in the center so loose… by the time I’m done with all of the petals they just hang because the stitches are so loose! How do you prevent that?
Im not sure what you're saying but maybe you could go down a hook size for the center stitches only?
FYI I used a 4mm hook to assemble the squares together and it didn’t seem to make much of a difference with the bulging
Oh good to know thank you!
Hi I love this pattern. How many inches or centimetres is each square.? I want to make a baby blanket 100cm square.
Love and thank you from South Africa.
Square measures about 4″ by 4″ unblocked. Feel free to block them if you prefer. After I blocked mine my squares are about 4.25″.
Hi! I’m attempting to make one of these, but all of my squares are very wrinkly/crumbly. Do you know why or have any recommendations?
Yeah mine did that too, thats why I blocked them :) Don't sew in your tails too tightly or they'll get a little distorted.
@@ACraftyConcept thank you so much! that makes a lot of sense :)
As I'm crocheting these granny squares, I knew that it would be bumpy. I would suggest that instead of 1/2 dc, I would do all dc all around. My friend saw this blanket and asked me if I could make one for her. It's a beautiful pattern. Thank you for showing me this different way of joining, love it!!!
17:46 : 42 squares
Would it be possible to do the center first, all the centers, then once the 42 are done, do the petals, petals are done on all of them then move on to the granny square?
Absolutely. That's the "assembly line method" and can make you much more efficient!
Hi, I love this tutorial. Looked for the pdf but the link does not work. Do you have a newer link? Thanks!!
www.acraftyconcept.com/daisy-blanket/
You don't say where to do the extra stitch on the second row, please help! Is it on the single crochet row, or the joining row?
The very first stitch after where you left it - is this an extra stitch in the corner? If so, how do you do a joining row onto an extra stitch? And then when you get down that row, how do you join in a 4 corner? I wish you'd shown joining one more square, I'm SO stuck!! :(
