Nice video. Just a point to make, the relay server adds a lot of compatibility but also lags up the game. The best thing is for the host to port forward (can find/set port number in advanced network settings) or ensure UPNP is on.
I’ve been thinking about playing Super Smash Bros. for N64 through netplay. If I have the time, I would love to go back to playing some online matches with people from all over the world.
idk why i getting this error Port Mapping Failed my router and all stuff is okay im actually playing sega genesis games via netplay but this one doesnt work :(
I don't think smash needs exactly this because every game has a way to connect PC players together. Smash64 has pkse64 netplay emulator. Smash melee has slippi (by FAR the coolest one, with matchmaking built in). For smash brawl/P+/PM there are versions of dolphin emulator for net play. And for ultimate I think there is a switch emulator that will connect, but I know people do it through parsec and just remote into the other person's computer. Honestly I think the smash games (and every old fighting game to exist) would benefit from something like slippi. Being able to just search for a match, whether it's casual or competitive, in games over 15 years old would be really cool. That's a huge wish for games to have. But I'm fine with 0 latency smash if I have to jump through a few hurdles. Playing smash ultimate on a switch, hard wired to the internet and having all your inputs be 1 to 3 seconds behind because the other person is on their wifi makes me despise actual Nintendo products. Fans do what nintendont 😎
Hi! I just wanted to ask how to solve a netplay issue im having right now, it assigns my IP adress and my port succesfully, but then it says "Your room is not connectable from the internet" I tried setting firewall on windows and my Wi-Fi device but didn't work anyways.
It must necessarily be completely different. The Netplay you have watched here are syncing two rpis to think they are "the same machine", so to say, where one machine is actings as joystick port 1 and the other machine as joystick port 2. What you want is more of a serial link/lan/wifi connection between two independent machines running the same game, using official supported network code. No idea if you can get that to work, but you probably have to look elsewhere.
@@Evilkingus thanks for the Explanation but I already knew this already that was the point of me asking this question in the first place because it’s multiplayer from 2 or more separate systems and not the same system I apologize but your reply was completely irrelevant to the question (except for asking if it’s the same method which I already knew that there was no way for that Method to work with those systems without even trying) at hand and didn’t help me out in the slightest at all but thanks for the response at least , better than nothing

Does retroarch support only 2 players online??? Or can it be more??? I already know that locally you can do 4 players on the same device with 4 bluetooth controllers.
Is it true you cannot copy data from retro arch gaming on a windows laptop to retro arch installed on a Chromebook or tablet? If no, are there any other video gaming emulators where you can copy data and restore it in a different type of device? Is it also true you can play retro arch emulator offline as long as you saved the data while online? Same for multiplaying? Can it handle major games like Minecraft and GTA? Also install mods on some games?
I've been trying to find this out aswell. Fron what I've read it seems it can't emulate the link cable functionality sadly. On pc it looks like VBALink is recommended(can't say myself, as I've never used it). If you happen to be on android like me, Multigba S seems to be the best for netplay.

Relay most of the time will not cut it this is a lame solution - you need to go through port forwarding and using a static ip for a direct (smoother / lag free) connection
I’m guessing they have to be on the same network? But definitely understand that both parties need retro arch installed. Not sure if you can play against someone across the world.

That's a fantastic point. I'll look into that for sure as I did notice a tiny bit of lag and stutter. Thanks for the tip Ninja!
