Just figured out that because my PC is on a different router than my phone/tablets created a game breaking lag that made it unplayable. When I used my phone and tablet it worked flawlessly. I'm excited cause my 351v is on its way here, so my wife and I will be able to use my phone and my 351v. Russ, I really want to thank you for everything you've put out there. All of your videos have convinced me that the 351v is gonna be my new favorite way to play my roms. It's nice to see a community of like minded people that are all about saving gaming history and showing it to the next generation.

Hey Russ Netplay works on the Vita in the latest nightly...and so do shaders in the piglet build....all we need now is Shredders revenge. If you're going to try netplay on the vita it will only work after you load the content. After that you'll have to hotkey into the RA menu and start a host session or refresh the list to look for a host. Remember to have UPnP set on your router and port forwarding if necessary. Be patient when using netplay on vita it's not completely finished yet if you're vita screen goes black when you start netplay just wait about 20ses for it to start.
Hi, any chance to see a video comparing available Chinese consoles/devices with larger screens >5 inch ? There is so many handhelds with screen 3.5 inch and less which are well known, but there is much less reviews on larger ones (like eg. Powkiddy X20 or X21). Many thanks in advance !
Is it possiblt to netplay between a RG351v and a RGB10 max if the RG is running arkOS? Since arkOS is not available on RGB10 would the RG351v need to change firmware to make sure they both use sane core?
They need to be running the same version of RA and the same cores, which is very difficult to set up between these two devices. I wasn't successful in getting the two to communicate.

Hi Russ, do you know if NetPlay works with RetroOz 0.51? I got my partner an RGB10 Max for her birthday and I tried to setup NetPlay with her new device and my RGB10 Max 2, both are running RetroOZ 0.51 cfw, both retroarch cores are updated / identical, rom files are the same as well. I followed your guide to the tee and got as far as being able to connect the two devices. However, only my controller would work. She could see my activity happening on her screen, but her controller would not input. We really wanna play Street Fighter! Do you have any ideas or tips on how to fix this?

I don't know what voodoo you did to get this to work, but I have NEVER had a successful test across about 6 different devices. I can connect just fine. Screen gets mirrored, etc. But the second player controller never works. Super frustrating. You make it look so easy. :)

Hey Russ, just something I'm curious about, have you tried seeing if the USB C ports on the 351P support video out? Mine doesn't get in until tomorrow but I was curious about that since it lacks HDMI.
I doubt you'll see USB 3.0 type C connectors on those budget devices before a long time, even (some) 400 euros/dollars xiaomi smartphones still support only USB 2 with their type C connectors. And sadly that means no video out with a type-c to HDMI adapter. You'd need a working HDMI port on the device for now. With a firmware enabling it
@@oliwek70 it shows up on cheap sbc's pretty regularly, so I don't think it's as far out of the question as you assert. My RockPro64 SBC supports displayport over usb c and that's a sub 60 dollar board. Obviously it doesn't take into account the screen and all that, but it's also over two years old now.
Anyone have any luck with netplay on two RGB10 Max devices? Both are using the same SD card images (one is using a flashed copy of the other's) and we're only able to do this for NES games. With SNES games, we get the same result as whst happened in the video with the RGB20 as host.

With these types of devices with becoming so ubiquitous, I wonder if its possible to hack a game like Mario Kart 64 to run full screen multiplayer on each device (cause... GOOD GOD). I know that's not quite how emulator netplay works... but its not impossible given the hardware.
Okey so i watched this video and guide for retroarch and i can't figure it out how to play ps1 games on ps vita. i've got retroarch with assets update and everything like cores. i downloaded the ps1 bios and put the right folder. configured the ps vita retroarch and i see the tekken 3 iso on the list but when i try to launch i cant see the right bios/core to select. any ideas?
Why tf would you use retroarch on ur ps vita to play psx games? It had literal official support and a bunch of the ps1 instructions were designed to run natively on the PSP cpu which is included on the vita SoC. Regardless, you need to make sure your bios is named correctly according to the directions on the retroarch website for the specific core. Than make sure it is in the correct system folder. Than you need to make sure you have the core in your core list otherwise you need to download it. Finally, load the .cue file in the folder for the PS1 game. This cant be a psp2psx file like you would use to run through native app. It needs to be in the bin cue file types. Once you do this, the psx core will populate as an option.

For local play, do you have to be connected to the internet, or does it send out its own non-internet signal to join? Say you go camping and have two devices and want to play coop games?

Unfortunately nobody's cracked the code on SteamLink, although I have seen that people got Moonlight working. I don't have an NVIDIA GPU so I haven't tested it myself :)

Talk about click bait title. This has nothing to do with using netplay for handhelds. You are emulating consoles and using netplay. The fact that the device you are using retroarch on is handheld is literally meaningless. Setting retroarch up to play console games is the exact same setup regardless of the type of device u r using it on. This is how it works on Mac, android, ps3, etc.

If this works via retro arch, you could connect these to a raspberry pi as well as long as retroarch version is the same

If you are using the RetroRun emulator, it has no quick menu. It's a pared down version of RetroArch, basically.

It cannot work as a hotspot, it needs a router to connect the two devices. That would be cool though!

Talk about click bait title. This has nothing to do with using netplay for handhelds. You are emulating consoles and using netplay. The fact that the device you are using retroarch on is handheld is literally meaningless. Setting retroarch up to play console games is the exact same setup regardless of the type of device u r using it on. This is how it works on Mac, android, ps3, etc.
