I'm glad they are moving. The all moved down here running from the mess they created up north. I feel sorry for South Carolina.

I am a Relocation Specialist here in the Charlotte area (Gaston County). Other than the states that border NC, the out of state plates that I see the most of non-vacationers in this area are Florida and Texas, by far. Of those who I've dealt with personally, nearly all of them say.....
FL: Home insurance rates have gone WAY up due to insurance companies requiring all residents of the state to carry hurricane insurance, even if they're inland. Home prices have gone up at a much faster rate than the national average.
TX: Property taxes are some of the highest in the nation. Being a border state, the illegal immigration issue is a more massive problem than most realize.
Though both states love to tout their "no state income tax", both states make up that tax in other taxes and fees. It's a shell game. The best way to properly measure the value of one's dollars is Buying Power (overall cost of living vs. income). Both NC and SC have Buying Power better than the national average and we're not having the issues mentioned above like FL and TX are. Great video.

“Why are some people leaving Florida for South Carolina”. Much more accurate and respectable title.

We have been in Florida for 12 years we plan on selling our home in Fort Myers and relocating to SC or Georgia maybe Tennessee.

Fantastic. I met with some folks from Fort Myers yesterday interested in doing the same thing. Email me at wcsawyerjr@kw.com and i'd love to chat more about our area compared to others.

Florida has always been hot and the reason why it's so congested is because all of those Yankees moved down here and created this mess.

      Are you thinking of relocating?

@@gvlrealestate Nope! I've lived by Clearwater Beach all of my life, 66 years. I love the gulf, the fishing and the islands. I have a nice boat. I love the heat and the sun. I retired at 62. I'll die here.

Interesting comments here. Florida is starting to become a financial challenge with home prices, property taxes, FPL costs all shooting up dramatically in the last 3-4 year and with the hurricane activity the last few years, home insurance is going through the roof with fewer carriers as the years go by. Look at the situation Citizens (Florida Govt Insurance) is in. Bottom line is you have to take all those costs in account in FL and budget accordingly but over decades, it can add up to a significant amount of money. Its Peaches to Oranges to me. If you play your money right, you can have both. And by the way, I lived in Orlando for 21 years and now SWFL since 2005 so I've seen some things happen in this state.
Good luck to everyone whichever way you go.

Everyone ISN’T leaving Florida. The number one reason is that it’s too expensive. Why? Because lots of people moved here! And now Columbia, Greenville, Myrtle Beach et al it will be YOUR TURN to pay too much for everything. Good luck…we Floridians are suffering way too much for our “success”.

That’s the point on the video- that you could possibly enjoy retirement more by living here vs Florida. Everyone is different and obviously SC isn’t for everyone. Thanks for watching the video.

Little do people know about South tropical South Texas. Palms, creeks, reseviors, tropical landscaping along the south gulf coast. Cost of living? 5k sqft home....500k with water front property, gated, golfing communities. STAY OUT EVERYBODY! We got 1 season. Warm and tropical. ZERO SNOW, ZERO COLD WEATHER, JUST BEAUTIFUL! Low insurance, zero flooding, just PERFECT.

Fk snow. Not even one day. Not leaving Fl. I love the winter weather in Fl. If you are poor and can’t afford Fl. And want less then move to the Carolinas.

Because the US Dollar is effectively worthless prices continue to soar in Florida although Florida does have rail transit unlike South Carolina which does not. Fuel prices are starting to soar in Richmond, Virginia which says to me most people are moving to Richmond Virginia and nowhere else.

Florida hasn't been worth living in since the 70's. Now, it's impossible. A light breeze? I don't think so.

A better title for this video is, “My personal opinion about Florida based off conversation with people that are complaining about Florida.” Lame. Just leave and we will wait for you to complain about South Carolina In a few years. The search for Perfection is the search for misery. You will never be happy with where you live.

I think you forgot about Hurricane Hugo which tore up central SC and NC in 1989. It's rare but it can happen.
