Great show WG! To me the Tudor black bay is a 40 year old proud of there history and happy to talk to anyone who brings it up! The Sub!! Well that's someone that's had a past, only wants to look forward and doesn't want to talk about the past!!?? AM I RIGHT??? If the BB had the knurling of the sub on the bezel that would ooooffff I prefer the 60 click on a bb than a 120 sub! Bracelet, the Rolly is unbeatable! Have a lovely Sunday!!!
I like the look of the Tudor better than the Rolex. The Submariner case looks very blocky compared to the more refined look of the Black Bay. Have a great camping trip, and a big thanks to WatchFinder for loaning out that beautiful Submariner to Britt for this video. Two of my favorite watch channels coming together to make an awesome video.
I couldn’t agree more woth the sub looking blocky! I think the new 2020 versions kinda got less blocky. But still! A bit chunky. ^_^ As for my channel to be mentioned alongside Watchfinder. 💀💀💕💕💕 I am still fan girling!
Great video and quality production. I agree, I love Rolex but the Submariner has never really resonated with me personally However, I’m an outlier I think Tudor BB is now also becoming too over hyped and ubiquitous. Yes it’s great value at the price but there are other interesting choices If you really want a diver with vintage vibe I personally prefer the Longines Heritage Legend Diver (bronze and green) or Breitling Heritage Superocean. Both have more interesting dials and are less obvious choices.
@@robinbanderman4151 thank you. I’m not a complete outlier then! However, I didn’t want my comment above to distract from what is another great expertly produced video comparing two great watches, on this, an excellent channel which I enjoy.
This is a great comparison, and it only reinforces my feeling that I massively prefer the BB58 on every level: price/value, aesthetics, materials (can’t stand ceramic), dimensions, wearing experience, and brand (I don’t love the unwanted attention Rolex brings). The only areas the Sub wins for me are movement, water resistance, and bracelet (which i never wear) but those margins are so fine they simply don’t matter to me at all. For the price, the BB58 is as close as I could image a watch getting to perfect.
Tudor makes me sad and I agree that I think that it is a great watch for the money. Unfortunately, I can't stand the snowflake hands nor the slab sides. I also don't think that Tudor would be half as popular if it wasn't tied to Rolex. Still a great watch.
“Dressed like granola is my favorite food.” Awesome. Love the point that you wear the watch outdoors and active, which is what I believe they were meant for.
@Britt Pearce Absolutely. A watch is to be worn, not kept in a display. Mine have been skydiving and kayaking with orca and camping and polar bear swims......They are built to be worn in the outdoors. Otherwise, all that water resistance is just a bit silly?
Had both the 41 Sub (no date) & Cermit and I preferred the Tudor Pelagos Blue or BB 58. I’m not a cyclops fan and the no date was meh. I have an explorer 39 full lume and SD’s 16600 & 116600…however my daily wear is the new Pelagos 39! It’s phenomenal. I also prefer my Omega 300 blue heritage over the submariner. The great thing about timepiece, it’s personal & there are so many magnificent choices
It’s such a shame that the no date only comes in black. -.- I want a no date but something a bit funky!! You’re soooo lucky to have the P39 tho!!! Not an easy watch to get my friend. Absolutely love the titanium and the sunburst bezel!
Completely agree on all points. For me, the Seamaster 300 60th anniversary from the 2017 Trilogy Collection is absolutely sublime. I've had that one on my mind since its release, but never pulled the trigger
I am going to give my opinion before I watch the video. I have Submariner money, I could have gotten the Rolex over the Tudor. I bought the BB58 Blue because I think it's a better watch. It's 39mm, it's a dark navy, it is not the supercase, it's not in precious metals. I think the blue sub is too big, too gaudy, too blue, and too expensive for my intended purpose. Also, people who aren't watch nerds think it's a Rolex and people who are watch nerds know what it is. Win, win,win
I want to like the Submariner, but I do love my Aquis. I don’t know that they directly compete in any other way than I was personally cross shopping them, but Oris came out on top, weirdly. And I think I feel more comfortable taking my Oris places and using it like the tool watch it was engineered to be. When I want to flex, there’s always Cartier, and the other 90% of the time, it’s Oris.
I chose the 58 over modern sub since I liked the size better and preferred an aluminum bezel. Look into a steel reef extension link. Made my 58 so much better. 👌
With sub prices coming back down, I’d say keep saving towards a sub if that’s what you really want and don’t settle for a BB. Both great watches but no comparison IMO.
No matter how sophisticated you become, you are still our Timmies Girl! I probably wont buy a Tudor but if I was going to, they are so nice. Rolex, no I am hardwired to be an Omega boy.
I have a bb58 and 114060 Sub. While I love both, the bb58 gets way more wrist time simply because it’s more comfortable. The smaller size, lighter weight and slimmer case back fits my wrist perfectly.
@@willharris8441 I think you'll really like the Pelagos 39 if you find the BB58 too small. I tried the Pelagos 39 on at my AD and it feels like it falls in between the BB58 and Sub on my wrist.
I think the Tudor wears better on smaller wrists.. smaller case size and slimmer lugs. Plus it a little less blingy… I say for you stick with the Tudor..
I know I am in the minority. I chose a Tudor 41 with the blue bezel because I prefer it over the sub. The sub is a little to small for my taste and like the look of the Tudor better. I agree the Tudor is more of a legitimate tool watch, as well.
Hey Britt. If you see this comment it might be worth you looking into buying a Ranger bracelet. it fits the 58 perfectly as they have the exact same case. No rivets. T-Fit! It is around £700 direct from Tudor, but when I added one to my BB58 it elevated it in both looks and comfort instantly 🥰

Picked up a 16610 about two years ago and it has been absolutely perfect. It was available, has characteristics of vintage and modern pieces, and it has been all I thought it could be. Love it! Unfortunately, I don’t have a Tudor to compare.
@SaintWill It's an absolutely rock-solid piece of brilliant engineering. The beautiful thing is that it can take abuse - online and in person and still come out unscathed and untarnished on the other side.
Black Bay is more versatile, looks a bit more dressy and less like a toolwatch. It's a nice watch and does not attract unwanted attention in cities. However sub is iconic and a must have in the collection.
My blue BB58 was a stretch for me and it’s the only luxury watch in my collection, but it’s absolutely perfect. I think I’ll add a Rolex someday, but the Tudor has my heart.
I have had two Rolexes, an OP two-tone (still owned)!and a Yacht-Master I. Insofar as dive watches are concerned, my choice is the Grand Seiko SBGA229 spring drive. Sophisticated but indestructible horology with fine finishing. I get that Rolex makes better clasps, etc., but Grand Seiko’s finishing and detail trumps Rolex IMHO. It is ironic that Seiko, the king pin of dive watches, has not been more successful with GS dive references but one day that will change. As between a Tudor BB 58 and a Rolex Submariner, I would pick the Tudor as it is more in keeping with what a tool watch should be in terms of the historic values of Hans Wilsdorf.
I own both a 126610LV and a Tudor BB58 black/gilt dial. The Rolex is a stunning watch, it receives a lot of attention every time I wear it (which can be good or bad) and is objectively the far better watch. However, I have bonded more with my Tudor, as it has a certain vintage charm that the Rolex lacks (and it is lighter, especially on its Forstner jubilee bracelet, which adds to its comfort on wrist and its vintage charm).
@@gordonmclees95I've never had a problem wearing the Sub, but I'm smart about when to wear it and when not to. The green bezel is an attention getter. One needs to have situational awareness when wearing a Rolex in public. Cheers!
Britt, I totally get what you’re saying. You’ve captured the nuance of personal preferences, the way the mind and heart don’t always align, with the heart taking preference. Yup, it’s all about how the watch “feels” on our wrist, and there’s an indescribable quality about what feels “right.” Thanks for thinking out loud with us!
It seems the Rolex is more status & the Tudor is more understated. If you’re looking for attention, the new Rolex is for you. I’d go vintage Rolex Sub or Tudor
Sub is the better watch with its iconic looks, rich history, and top build quality (ceramic bezel, glidelock, materials used and finishing ). However, the sub wears large on a lady's hand so the Tudor might look better on some smaller wrists !
For me personally the Grand Seiko SLGA015 is a prettier Submariner in Titanium. But 12k is a lot of money. A comparison to a Black Submariner or Black Bay would be really cool.
Have to say, I totally agree, and I have two Rolex, and always look at the sub, but when I try it on, it's always disappointing and not very special at all. The Black bay is a good looking watch, as is the Omega 300 diver, as is the JLC Polaris.
BB58 looks better on your wrist no mistaking that... colour and size both better suited. Perhaps a pre-ceramic Kermit? My issue with the BB58 blue that I sold is never got used to going without a date function.
Please do a color series. Best red watches in different budgets/ watch types. Best blue watches... Best green watches... Best gray... Etc... You could make a bunch of content or if that one series. You can even
The BB58 is basically a neo-vinatage submariner isn't it really? I'm waiting for a BB58 to be released on a bracelet without the fake rivets and then I'll probably buy one. I've owned a sub (black, no date, modern ref) and sold it. I had the same experience as Britt, in that it looked fantastic on my night stand, but on the wrist it just felt a bit meh.
@@BrittPearceWatches Haha, the Watch community is so fickle, but I love it. Love your channel Britt, it's the good vibes channel of the watch RUclips world!
@@thesouthernwatchcollector8948 that's a beautiful watch I agree. I'd love a no date vintage sub without any crown guards. But I'd need to remortgage to get it these days 😂
I have them both and adding the aftermarket “ easy link “ on the 58 makes the world of difference. Just a thought for all those turning down the 58 because of the clasp. $125 can change things entirely
I’ve owned both. A Cermit and a no-date 41mm. And two BB58 blue. Prefer the BB58… So much so that I sold it (Still don’t know why). Then bought another one. Never regretted selling either Sub’.
I think I got the best combo. Bought my 58 on leather and got the Forstner bracelet (no rivets , and their 4mm spring loaded FlexLink on the clasp). Super comfortable and well made.
How about a neo-vintage sub like a 14060M? Slimmer case, aluminium bezel, decent movement and it has charm. Maybe not the bracelet though.. I did this with the explorer 2 and went for the 16570 polar rather than the latest offering that is just too big for me.
So many people complain about the scratch resistance of the aluminum bezels vs ceramic. So It is really interesting to see an aluminum bezel properly used and how it has held up in the real world after years. Looks to me like it is in really nice shape and people should probably choose one or the other based on their own aesthetic preference. Unless it is needed for extreme scratch resistance situations.
Hi Britt! Great vid. I purchased a Rolex in the mid 80s when they were still primarily a solid, dependable, tool watch (although also a bit of a status symbol in my unit). I beat hell out of that watch for the next 30-odd years, sold it, and have never looked back. I currently own a BB Bronze, and actually prefer the brand. Tudor is solid, dependable, and unpretentious, IMHO. I'm not a hater, but Rolex just doesn't fit me anymore.
Omg I LOOOOVE THE BB BRONZE! What a choice! And you're sooo right - Tudor is sold and dependable and unpretentious! I relate to all of this. I'm not a Rolex hater. I just find myself gravitating to Tudor more.
If offered a Sub at retail, I would take it. However, the BB58 is a sublime value rocket. My BB58 black is my most worn watch in my collection. It is just so good.
used to own the BB and got a Sub a while ago. I've loved the Tudor and wore it very ofter until the Sub arrived. When placing next to each other, you can see the difference. The looks and finishing of the Rolex is one class above. I don't think they are really comparable. The Tudor is a great watch in itself but it cannot sand up to a Submariner. Of course, when you start taking price and availability in consideration, the Tudor Handels some big blows to the Sub (especially with the current list-price of the Rolex) but if you just compare the watches, it is not as close as some people think. This, of course, is only my humble opinion and might vary from person to person.
I prefer the aluminum bezels. Got an old Sub and recently bought a Tudor BB Heritage and love both bezels. I started to discover the esthetic of aluminum bezels when the ceramic bezels came out. And by the way: my Sub is now over 20 years old and the bezel has not got a single scratch although it is used as an all day watch.
I got both sub and bb58 blue. Don’t know…. some reason I reach bb58 more then sub. I think because of brand ROLEX I am afraid that people Judge me how aggressive to get this sub. Its a good watch unfortunately brand is a bit dirty now. Sub is sitting in my watch box most of time.
I own the (2) Tudor BB41's and a Rolex OP39. Very similar watches, you can see the DNA in the dials. The Tudors are a better value and fit me better, but the OP39 is a more refined watch, thinner, better finishing and just a step above. All three are +2 seconds or better and all have a place in my collection. (I don't own a sub because I HATE Mercedes hands!)
There’s room to have both. I rotate between two BB58’s when at work or going out and about in the week. My white gold sub is my weekend watch, a treat to wear once/twice a week.
Been considering btwn the BB58/ BB36, P39 vintage style, vs the Super Seawolf fresh colorways. Maybe do a vid for the super seawolf and your thoughts on it, would help, thanks.
Agree with Tudor preference…i love Subs, but i like the vintage ones more…the 5513 and the 6538…but pricing is prohibitive on those, so Tudor bb58 scratches that itch whilst still being an amazing watch in its own right
I bought a Pelagos 39 in December and love it - IMO very similar to a Submariner. This morning I bought a Submariner No Date and am now wondering if I should keep the Pelagos 39. I know I’m blessed to have both, and if you do buy a Pelagos 39 I’m confident you’ll love it. Great video Britt.
I keep asking myself if the clasp and bracelet is worth it. I actually prefer how the BB58 wears, feels and looks. If the clasp gets changed, I'm heading straight to the AD and I'm either buying or getting on a list. I'd like ceramic bezels because I'm clumsy, but i like the matte aluminum.
@Britt Pearce Seriously, Tudor should gift you one in any configuration for all of the free publicity you've given that BB58 blue. I know you sold me one for a female. Must've watched those videos twenty times. 😆 Heal quickly. We need you back healthy.

Black Bay is more versatile, looks a bit more dressy and less like a toolwatch. It's a nice watch and does not attract unwanted attention in cities. However sub is iconic and a must have in the collection.
There is so much negativity around rolex that it has spoiled my experience of putting my name down for even the basic oyster perpetual.
Britt, would love to see you compare the Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage vs your Tudor and get your opinion.
Ouuu now THIS is a video I would love to make! Let’s see if I can get one in from watchfinder)
Has you rolex ever attracted the attention of the criminal fraternity ! Is this something i should consider when buying a rolex ???
@@gordonmclees95I've never had a problem wearing the Sub, but I'm smart about when to wear it and when not to. The green bezel is an attention getter. One needs to have situational awareness when wearing a Rolex in public. Cheers!
@dannyg6592 thankyou for your response ! I too will be careful if i manage to get one !
Best daily ? Pelagos 38 ! Best dressy sportswatch ? GMT Batman ! Best “one watch collection” watch you never heard of ? Horage Supersede ! 😊
It seems the Rolex is more status & the Tudor is more understated. If you’re looking for attention, the new Rolex is for you. I’d go vintage Rolex Sub or Tudor
I still love my BB58 Navy Blue. Got it for 2 years. But I would be very glad with a vintage Submariner.
16610LV = Cermit
126210LV = Starbucks
Oh man! I love a vintage Sub!
I sold my 2002 Sub no date after buying the Tudor Pro, to be fair I never wore it so it made sense to sell and buy the Pelagos 39 and a Ranger
Ps. You can actually buy Tudor watches 🤣🤣
Now that I have a kid, the prices on both of these are now well beyond what I’m comfortable with, but I’m still in love with the 5 digit subs.
Gah! I can’t relate on the kid front! 🙈 but 5 digit subs… well… 5 digit Rolex in general are just divine!!
Ouuu now THIS is a fun watch to throw into the mix! But I am sadly still sized out of the GS! ;'(
Have to say, I totally agree, and I have two Rolex, and always look at the sub, but when I try it on, it's always disappointing and not very special at all.
Oh pre ceramic Rolex and omega is my love language!
Please do a color series.
Best red watches in different budgets/ watch types.
Best blue watches...
Best green watches...
Best gray...
Etc...
You could make a bunch of content or if that one series.
You can even
Oh I love this!!! I have taken a screenshot and added this to the gringa idea log!
@@BrittPearceWatches Would be cool to see.
Ouuuu let’s hope this watches and wonders your dream comes true! No faux river BB58. The people would gooo wild!
You my want to look at a Rolex Submariner 16610 the fit is almost identical to the Black bay 58 and no fake rivets.
Britt, why do you do this to me!!!!
I was all set to sell all my Tudors, now you have me questioning my decision 😬
Great video as always!
LOLLL OOOOOMG!!!! Tell me MORE! Why do you want to sell your tudors?!??
@@BrittPearceWatches Trying to slim down my collection and want a dress watch.
Thought get rid of 4 Tudors to buy an entry level Patek. Good idea?
The Rolex submariner LV (Starbucks) is perfection
I have them both and adding the aftermarket “ easy link “ on the 58 makes the world of difference. Just a thought for all those turning down the 58 because of the clasp. $125 can change things entirely
Who makes the AM extension link? Thanks
I’ve owned both. A Cermit and a no-date 41mm. And two BB58 blue.
Prefer the BB58… So much so that I sold it (Still don’t know why). Then bought another one. Never regretted selling either Sub’.
😂👏🏻 this sounds like you’ve been on a bit of a journey with your dive watches!
The Black Bay Bronze Bucherer has been on my (large) wrist for the last few weeks.
A 5 digit sub would suit her perfectly.
OMG. 5 digit subs
Given the choice between a Rolex Submariner and Tudor Black Bay 58, I'd go with the Tudor Pelagos 39. ;-)
Hahaha! Very well said! 😂
I think I got the best combo. Bought my 58 on leather and got the Forstner bracelet (no rivets , and their 4mm spring loaded FlexLink on the clasp). Super comfortable and well made.
Great video. I have the JC Rolex dive and the 4000 red. For every day wear I seem to reach for the Tudor. Just saying. Thanks
Oh, you prefer the 58 but not the Subby. I have the 16610 pre ceramic. Its a very much more elegant piece where I think the 58 gets its DNA
How about a neo-vintage sub like a 14060M? Slimmer case, aluminium bezel, decent movement and it has charm. Maybe not the bracelet though.. I did this with the explorer 2 and went for the 16570 polar rather than the latest offering that is just too big for me.
Love love love! This is my favourite era of sports watches!
You should get an aftermarket bracelet (with custom fitted end-links) for your Black Bay.
Ouuuu I should look into it. ^_^
I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming.Thank you for another great video
Whaaaat! This has made my day! Thank you so much. 💕💕💕
I agree the bb58 is my favorite too. My favorite Rolex is the Explorer 👌
Ahhh the explorer is just too good 🎉
If offered a Sub at retail, I would take it. However, the BB58 is a sublime value rocket. My BB58 black is my most worn watch in my collection. It is just so good.
Perhaps the Pelagos 39, although titanium is not for everyone? Greetings from Edmonton Canada! Love your channel and perspective!
Oh it definitely isn't for everyone!
used to own the BB and got a Sub a while ago.
There’s something about preceramjc wagches that just makes me happy!
@@BrittPearceWatchesI've got the same with hesalite vs saphire.
You know! There's been quite a few people who hate the Mercedes hands in the comments! :O
Ouuu I could definitely look into it. :)
I wear the no date sub quite a bit, but it has to share wrist time with the BB 58 and BB Pro. Tudor is killing it.
Look into older 4 or 5 digit references of the Sub, better for smaller wrist sizes 😊
The Pelagos 39 is what I think offers a strong argument for why you don’t need a sub imo.
Right?! Especially because I'm a no date lover!
Oh I want a P39 soooo bad! You’re sooo lucky to own one! 😱💕 biggest congrats ever on getting such an amazing piece!
Agree. I've owned BB 58, and the Pelagos 39 will be my next purchase. I like Rolex, but dont like the hype surrounded it.
Hello WG for me i prefer the Tudor your points are really nice talked i love Rolex a lot but in that match i prefer Tudor love you so much WG
Ahhh Cedric is here!!! Thank you sooo so much£ 💕💕💕
Rolex screams "boring". The BB58 gives the "you are the one" feeling.
You know, I always say Rolex is a good choice. Tudor is a COOL choice!
Wise Adamascus. I'd like to see your take on one of those things. 904l steel diver out of Thailand. Cheers
Ouuu I will look into it! ^_^
@@BrittPearceWatches great! 😁
C'mon Tudor! Give us the BB58 on the T Fit with no faux rivets! PLEASSSE!!!
@Britt Pearce Seriously, Tudor should gift you one in any configuration for all of the free publicity you've given that BB58 blue. I know you sold me one for a female. Must've watched those videos twenty times. 😆 Heal quickly. We need you back healthy.
One of the best Tudor / Rolex comparison videos on RUclips! The struggle is real, and love your perspective on why you prefer the Tudor!
