- What watch would you pick?
The Tudor Black Bay 58 seems to have been a thorn in the side of it's older brother Rolex for quite some time. Given that Tudor and Rolex are sister brands, it can be difficult to decide given how well made both watches are.
However, there are a few things that differentiate them.
In today's video; Alex discusses the price differences, the wear, the materials, and the investment value to ultimately determine which watch reigns supreme.

I personally own both models shown here. Both are great watches. But my preference between the two….and the one I wear daily….is the Tudor. I just find it wears better on the wrist. And honestly, I HATE the snob appeal and pretentiousness that comes with the name ‘Rolex’
I have both, and Tudor is my daily
It's not "snob" appeal...bec snob appeal is somewhat more palatable.
It's tacky, in your face image that bad for rolex.
I have stooped wearing mine for quite a while already.
It's just plain bad now
If the ‘snob’ name wasn’t there, would you wear the Rolex as a daily?
@@tenpiecesofeight Great question. Answering honestly, I believe my answer would be yes. I do love the look of my Rolex pieces (Sub….plus, Yachtmaster, Daytona, and DayDate) and they are quality, highly reliable products. What causes me to not wear them is that I feel the brand name just sends the wrong message. I find myself being self conscious when wearing them to meet with clients, family gatherings, etc. I recognize it’s a shortcoming on my part….but it is what it is.
I also have both and I tend to go for the Tudor most of the time.
This is a really good angle that I absolutely relate but find difficult to convey in my experience of owning both watches (slightly differently, gilt BB58 and green Sub). Thanks for the video and great to see another Sydneysider in this watchspace!
You can’t sell the Tudor for higher than retail on today’s market.
Not the point. If someone's too concerned about resale, he/she shouldn't have bought the toy in the 1st place.
Great video man!
Sounds like you are more influenced by the name than the watch itself. The perfect rolex owner.
Hahaha!
Naw brah this dude speaking facts. The Rolex is the better watch period. However the Tudor is still an amazing piece. Anyone that owns either is lucky.
@@josecarlos11 not sure what the facts you refer to are. There is a huge price difference between these watches which isn't reflected in the 'factual' difference between them. People buy with their heart, they buy a watch that speaks to them, they don't buy facts. Rolex owners buy a luxury, this is In fact what Rolex state they sell, not watches. A horologist is less influenced by a name than your average Rolex owner. There are a lot of very well founded criticisms of Rolex as a brand, they artificially inflate prices, manipulate stock...... all rather ersatz. Poor people buy Rolex to appear wealthy. Horologists love watches.
@@skullduggerysmiles8393 brah you talking about all this internet drama with the Rolex brand. Lol I was simply stating that the sub is in fact a better watch, anyone that’s held one or owns one knows, that’s why it costs more. If you ever get the chance to see one in the flesh you will love it. The case, dial, bezel, movement basically everything about it it’s better. I’m just telling you an objective point of view. But like I said both are great watches.
@@josecarlos11 I agree with you. But remember you are paying much more for the Rolex, that can't be ignored. I've borrowed the sub but didn't love it enough to want to buy one. Perhaps a better comparison would have been with the Pelagos, thats a watch and a half. I would argue a much better looking watch with higher specs right across the board and at a fraction of the price. Have a look at one if you get the chance I'd be interested in your opinion.
Love the Ten Pieces of Eight videos
Love some of these shots
Great review and really informative. Don’t know anyone who pronounces Tudor as Twodoor though. I think it’s Tueder as in the English Tudors.
How / in what scenario would you be able to show off with a common Sub?
Fantastic content! Only problem is that Rolex submariner doesn’t come with different colours dial, navy would be fantastic and that’s a shame for someone looking for a navy diver (like omega and Tudor for example). How many vm are your wrists?
Many thanks 🎉
Can you check the price of the from price before of a Tudor prince 🤴 and now the resell price still the same retail price or higher
Love the coffee analogy! Also, I love a good espresso 😎
clearly if money is no object, it's the Rolex...
Love them both.
You need purchase history for the Rolex AD really put your name in the waiting list, which really does exist.
Tudor watches nowadays need waiting lists too. Not all of them though. BB Pro and Pelagos 39.. good luck with some ADs.
Was offered a black bay pro by AD but turned it down cuz I thought it looked ugly. Guess I'm somewhat of a vip? 🙀
AD? pls help
@@davidjensen2278 AD: Authorised Dealers
@@emmanueltsI5 Ahhh, thank you very much! Im a bit new to this world.
don't bother with rolex can't play the waiting game, just buy tudor lovely watches great value 👌
What a great video 😊
I watched this in korea
I’m getting a Tudor
hey, your frequency units need correction: 28,800 bph = 4 Hz
thanks you!
They are both too big for your wrist…but thanks for the good comparison
I think you forgot to start your sentence with: In my humble opinion....
I think he rocks that BB!
Both beauties. Watching in my fave cafe on a Tuesday night, wearing my sub.
The quoted resale values are outrageous
Australian dollars
Whoever says the BB58 is better hasn’t owned and held both side by side
The Rolie weights more, big deal.
I can do without folks asking "is that a rolex? How much is it?"
“Is it real? Can I see it?”
I would get a two door but it’s not quite practical if you have more than one passenger.
If I could get the rolex at the price of the MSRP no listing, I'll take the rolex, then sell it to buy a couple of tudors !
Yes! More reviews need pictures and B roll from a normal distance away doing things. I could care less how a watch looks from 10 inches above.
Two door? Strange way of saying it
Superb video!
I've had a couple of 5 digit Subs, both were fine watches, but neither was as comfortable as my black BB58. I don't care for the newer Subs at all, I hate to say...
So, for me, my little BB58 is the better watch.
This dude is awesome! 😂
Subbed
Who is the presenter in this video?
small wrists for these watches
Rolex sub secondary market is 12000 the Tudor is 3000 your numbers are way off
We are in the Australian market
Yadayadayada..!
Let’s wear both and try strolling around London rough areas and let’s see who goes home with our watches still intact..?
Tudor Black Bay has 80% more on survivability not getting mugged + it’s got the same robustness, durability just like any Rolex and on paper they’re the same, they go to same service center, one is a more proper tool watch that you can wear and do anything with it without the fear of getting scuffed/ scratches, while the other one has only more bling, a status statement , more hyped, expensive, that’s really got nothing to do with which is the much better performer watch, long story short one is a small “Dick” while the other one is a “Keeper”, one is an any day, anywhere, everyday wearer, while the the other one, nowadays are more like a SAFE or a Vault potato and that’s a fact. 😎
Here’s some food for thought:
I live in a wealthy, small, extremely safe country compared to the UK called Kuwait, where I don’t have to worry about leaving my new, fairly expensive car unlocked in the middle of a parking lot. Why would I want to consider anything besides what I like the most, and the best in terms of quality and reliability, regardless of price?
LMFAO.. I like how you make a comparison of the two coffee, it screams YUPPIE.. Expresso and Soy Late!! Lol . Both are amazing watches, I own two BB58 (Pepsi GMT 41mm and a BB58 39mm Black) I think for the money Tudor all the way. If i have to spend more than a Tudor I will get an Omega. I put on a jubilee bracelet on my 39mm BB and it just changed the whole appearance of the watch and I love it even more.
Prefer the Sub but hate how you have to kiss some ones A to get one or buy a watch you don’t want to get one.
Talks about a tool watch? This guy is an absolute TOOL!!
So basically you’re more of a DB with the Rolex 😂
The Rolex looks to big for you imo. I’d go BB58, I genuinely prefer it. Not a fan of Rolex at all.
the coffee comparison doesnt feel right, the coffee's are as much the same as casio and a rolex they both tell the time but are not the same
tudor is a lot more the same as a rolex then any other watch brand
1:43 the watch is upside down...
no date, all day
It WAS the case ..... your 'investment' and grey market story.....careful of that Sir. You are misleading people. I own both in various models and you are wrong. You may think your submariner is worth so much........but you will Lose money when you sell it. Or best you will break even. Nice video all the same. Good photos and honest about your reasons (other than the 'great investment')....thank you. Enjoyed it. Enjoy your watches.
Not the best review.. you missed the case thicknesses and weights. Wearability and comfort of each comparison. Too much focus on the status. Every man and his dog has a sub so it’s not a big deal really.
If you think a soy latte is an upgrade… 😂 well lets just say opinion discarded
Tudor is obviously less expensive, but tudor is easy to buh, rolex is impossible to buy in rolex store and cost 12000$ in grey market, and because human beeing always want what he cant, people want this rolex, because the brand is an aspirational brand,a must have for being part of vip class people, reason why customer want this watch, for being part of the suposed superior category ...vanity,vanity
My goodness, that Rolex does not fit your wrist at all!
Stop calling it Two door!
Don’t wanna be a soy boy.
Sounds like a collector using someone else's money.
I would pick ..Neither......SEIKO fan boy through and through for 800 bucks ...you also get a 70hr power reserve!!! invest the rest and buy a house with the compounding interests.
2:00 low selfesteem, insecure, need to compensate.
I go for a Rolex Submariner over a Tudor black bay anyday of the week . I'm not a fan of modern Tudor only vintage and yes I own a Rolex Submariner 14060m and a Explorer 1 but full disclosure I'm not really a fan of modern Rolex Submariners. My love we always for the pre ceramic and pre super case size Submariners. Even the black bay is a wannabe vintage Submariner
Two door
2:42 she kinda hit for a chick in the 20s
Get a Rolex if you want to get robbed.
I want Rolex
❤=sub 🧠=BB58
❤+🧠=both😂
In Europe you lose 800-1000 € for every Tudor sold, it doesn't matter which model. That's because eBay is full of Tudor watches for sale. So Tudor will be the sister of Rolex but it is not even close to Rolex in terms of quality and status.
If I didn’t live in nyc where you would get robbed for wearing a Rolex I’d say Rolex
