Hmm... We dont really remember our first baptism since we got baptized when we were still babies..(in my country Philippines) but the First communion and confirmation really feels different. Like youre in the Presence of God.. its hard to explain.. a mixture of awe, nervousness/fear, and devotion..love more than your parents.
They don't feel different because a true conversion hasn't happened yet, when you come in absolute humility and repentance you become vulnerable, but you inmediately get filled with a strength and joy like nothing you felt before, it is pure not intoxicating, you feel relief and even though it can be scary (because you are in the presence of the almighty God) you are inmediately consoled by pure love, far superior than the love of any lover or even your parents.
This is when someone comes to the store to buy a lone pack of cigarettes which you only make 50 cents off of and they pay with their credit card which costs the store 50 cents in fees. If it was sheet music it would be a rest. If it were a computer it would be a no-op. You are still Viking if you didn't get wet under Monastic pretenses...

Christainity was able to speead bottom up.. not top down. Poor people converted than the rich eventully followed. Jesus had only 20 followers.. imagine today if someone had twenty ppl following them doesnt make them god..

If they converted to christianity they would get stronger ties to continental Europe through trade, alliances etc... And to prevent them sharing the same fate as the baltics and finns would during the northern crusades. The holy roman empire for excample invaded Denmark in the late 10th century and forced the danish king to convert and allow missionaries to construct churches and bishoprics in Denmark. Not to mention the fact that the christianization of Skandinavia was á long process as seen by runic inscriptions from the 13th century here in Norway evoking the names of valkyries and the Norns.
