- Having done a 5 year retrospective on the original game, I wanted to crunch out an essay on Miles Morales' own game before the anticipated sequel comes out. While going through my third run, I noticed that parts of the spinoff aged both incredibly well...and slightly poorly.

Something that always bugged me about spider man miles morales was that the underground and roxxon where basically reskinned versions of the demons and stable International

Remember it was a half priced game that ended up being free with ps plus less then a year later. The actual gameplay is phenomenal. Definitely more polished then Spider-Man PS4. The story is also pretty great but no where near as emotionally satisfying as Spider-Man PS4
it was full priced. call it what you want but 50-60$ isn't half priced for me.

I would also like to add another cool thing about Uncle Aaron's musical scavenger hunt quest line. Not only does it give lore about him and Miles Dad, each new piece you get adds a part to the background environmental music.
Like for the first bit of the game until that quest, it's a slightly generic hip hop kind of beat with not much going past that. But then you find a sound and mix it and now the background has percussion, then it has louder strings, then some added sounds and beats, ect.
Just go back and listen to the ambient music before, during, and after you finish Uncle Aaron's music quest. The theme legit goes from feeling like a generic kind of underwhelming beat, to actually sounding like Miles' version of the Spiderman theme.

I don’t have it for a ps5 so I’m just gonna get another ps4 and my first game is gonna be this one and probably Spider-Man 2. I beat the first one when I had my last ps4. People keep telling me it’s not worth it to get a ps4, but as long as I can play all the games I like for half the price I’m cool with that. . I really wanna play this game and spider 2

Hey, the Howard missions are great, pigeon facts are interesting
The winter environment is definitely good while in the story, but once you're out free-roaming after completing the collectibles, it just feels more hollow than spider-man remastered. Everything is a lot less vibrant because its all blanketed in white snow, and the reflections aren't given a chance to shine as much because of the ice on the windows. Definitely *feels* less alive than spider-man remastered.
While I agree with the overall statement, I did find Harlem to be very vibrant and cozy - the small shops, the grafitti, people playing basketball, Christmas decorations, all of it. I don’t remember the neighborhood being as vibrant in the previous game. Makes sense given the narrative focus of this game.

Without watching the video I'm a bit irritated by the title. Fym "Aged well" the game is only three years old, it's not even old enough to go to school. It's barely aged at all.

The fane is jot without flaws but I thoroughly enjoyed Mikes Morales, I felt like he was his own character, enjoyed the story and environment, I loved it. It was definitely a worthy entry into the insomniac Spiderman up universe
If we step back and look at what's going on in the games industry as a whole, I think it's kinda insane to complain about something like Miles Morales as being a "half-sequel" or a game-length DLC. Yes, the game copies and pastes the Manhattan Island map from the first game with minimal changes. Why is that a bad thing? That map is a masterpiece, both as a game arena, and as a story-packed environment. It must have taken years to build. And I wasn't nearly done with it when I finished the first Spider-Man game. I'd far rather a game developer make a gigantic, deeply detailed map and use it for multiple games than make a sloppy, banged together map for each game.
In general, I think carefully crafting a game design for multiple titles seems like a very sensible way to go. I remember back in the day when people complained that Arkham Origins reused a lot of the Arkham City map, like that was a bad thing. Time ultimately vindicated that game as a worthy entry. It didn't need to be the next evolution. All it needed to be was more of what we liked in Arkham City, to hold us over till Arkham Knight came along. And frankly, Arkham Origins had better bossfights than either of the previous two games, not to mention better martial arts combat, so it also contributed significantly to the series' evolution. Was it ultimately a game-length DLC? Yes, more or less. But I'm missing the part where that's a bad thing.
Games are struggling with longer and longer development times, with Starfield taking 8 years, finally releasing to a world that has already moved on from what it was meant to offer. Meanwhile, PS5 is now two years old, with only a scant number of games that could only exist on its platform. Why? Because it just takes too long to make games. So personally, once Spider-Man 2 comes along, I'll welcome two or even three spin-off games using the same map, the same basic assets, combat model, etc, but with new stories and characters through which to experience it all. I want a Black Cat game. How about a Daredevil game, set in a smaller but denser section of Manhattan, that spends more time on the streets and less on the rooftops? What about a whole Spider-Gwen game done in the Spider-Verse style, not just one skin and one suit upgrade? They don't need to start from scratch and reinvent the wheel with every entry. They just need to be enjoyable campaigns, with enough tweaks to make the game play feel fresh.

My main critique is the price because they charged full price for it. WHILE YES it should have been its own game rather than a DLC, I found it a bit ridiculous that they charged full price for it/ charged the same for the original spiderman game. I mean I totally get why they wanted to make it shorter, so they could start working on SPIDERMAN 2 straight away, For its price either the content should be increased or the price should have been reduced. like the original price was 60, and I definitely didn't want to pay that, I would have repspectably paid something like 3o dollars instead. it just seems way more fair for the content.

@@vanshsureka2425 Miles Morales was 50 dollars at launch. It was only 60 if you bought the ultimate edition on PS5 that came with a remaster of the original game.

22:00 Yes, it's a great scene, but the timeline of the game always made me feel like this was really stupid. The OFFICIAL timeline for this game is:
Dec 24th, night - Miles receives a new suit Peter designed and stitched together himself, learns the software Peter designed and uploaded, has Christmas dinner with family.
Dec 25th, day - Miles fixes trains, reconnects with Phin.
Dec 25th, night - Underground blows up bridge
Dec 26th, morning - Miles and Ganke begin designing the new suit, which is completed in 3 days (not to mention, how the fuck did 2 high schoolers design this super high-tech suit, with the military-grade materials that it's made from, over JUST 3 days...in their bedroom??)
Peter gave Miles a brand new suit, with brand new tech, and he literally had it for a single day before deciding he wanted a different one. I know the theme of the game is individuality, and Miles finding himself and his own identity, but god damn, deciding that a DAY after someone gave you some thing they designed specifically for you? Something they made with their own hands? Something they dumped hundreds, possible thousands of their very limited dollars into, just for you?? It's like if someone gave you a PS5, and then after playing it for a day, you decided you wanted an XBOX instead.
I'm torn about this because uh... If you look at the suit peter gives miles, it's clearly too big for him. Everywhere that two costume parts come together there's a ton of bunching, whereas every other costume is pretty much seamless. I feel like the suit was actually a hand-me down of an old suit peter used in his earlier days with some tech upgrades instead of one custom-made for Miles.
Well, it seems Peter wanted the suit to be a suprise so he couldn’t exactly ask Miles for his measurements without it being suspicious. And this was probably the first time he had to make a suit for someone else. Additionally, Peter re-using his old or spare fabrics makes sense since he probably no longer has access to Otto’s workshop. And this is only my head-canon, but I’d like to think Peter really tried to make a fast and easy suit for Miles so that he would no longer have to swing around in civilian clothing.

Gameplay mechanics should be fine lmfao the moment it drops people are just gonna share on RUclips hidden mechanics and details anyways. Trophies or story segments though definitely should get rid of those comments, I understand you probably wanna play it completely blind but I doubt knowing a trick for web slinging or combat beforehand is gonna tank your experience. For me it's only made me want the game to drop today lol
I've been replaying this game for the past week, and I've encountered several glitches too. I hadn't had Miles clipping through buildings and getting stuck before this playthrough. Maybe a recent patch caused some issues.
I just wanted ot share my take as a person who is regular who played the game.

if you really wanna enjoy the combat and have a challenge play ultimate every other mode is just so easy

Everyone always hates Simon Krieger because he has no motive other than money and power. Which is perfect, we've already seen revenge with 3 other villians as their motive. Li wants revenge, Otto wants revenge and now Phin wants revenge. Simon was actually a breath of fresh air, he's an asshole, person whose just a greedy prick who will do anything to make money. THATS different, he doesnt need extra motives to be someone who you want to beat up. Every reviewer hates on him but I cant get behind that. He's perfect being a greedy prick.

sth i have to nitpick about the your opinion on the writing you said that if a philantropist who runs a homless shelter suddenly disappears, right before a terorist attack may be suspicious, but in universe there was no way to pin that on Martin li firstly because Peter trusted him and secondly because he didn't show himself before the attack on Norman.

if you delete the game and reinstall it work all much better, no idea why but after some times,it just..glitchy and load times were long in rachet game though portals as an example but one redownload it somehow all gone after opening up awhile

I am excited for marvel's spider-man two, hopefully we get a wonderful story for both our web slinging heroes must face tons of new threats.
I love this game, despite its faults like the story funny enough simple is better for a spider character at least for me plus miles means a lot to me an if people don't enjoy this game its ok.
from what i heard... side quests are full of wokeness stuff.
Peter's story is fighting badies (cant quip with cops for whatever reason) actiony.
Miles's story is more towards discrimination.
They even retconed his relationship with his father somewhat (due to the cop thing im guessing)

My biggest hope for the next installment in the series is that they let Peter keep all his gadgets and give him some new interesting ones as well. I found Mile's gadgets to be severely underwhelming and I found it hard to get creative with them. There is only some much that you can do with 3 gadgets and one is basically an NPC that you have no control over. Hopefully their is some interesting ones in Spider-Man 2
I personally like that miles didn’t have as many gadgets in the original I didn’t really used them they just not a Spider-Man thing gadgets are more of a Batman thing.
@vprometheussv8590 Yeah, but the combat in Miles Morales severely suffers from the loss of gadgets. The casual gamer that doesn't get too deep into the combat won't notice much of a difference besides the added venom abilities. the amount of creativity that the gadgets allow in 2018 is insane. And A lot of that was lost between 2018 and Miles morales.
As far as "gadgets not being a spider man thing" goes. You have to remember that this is Insomniacs Spider-Man universe. Not an adaptation of another spiderman universe. In this universe Peter and Miles are genius science/tech enthusiasts. I think it fits perfectly in this game for them to have tons of cool gadgets.
And for people who don't like gadgets. They can just not use them. You have nothing to lose. But if you strip down most of the gadgets like they did in Miles Morales you're hurting the players that like to experiment and get deeper with the combat.

Im aware this is an old video, But Amazing is the games Normal mode. Spectacular is the hard mode and Ultimate is Extra Hard. Dawg you're already playing the game on what's considered easy. Do an ultimate playthrough n see how really hard the game is.

Morales was definitely used better in this game than in Spider-Man 2. They sold him out for some Adidas sneakers and relegated him to side mission work which destroyed his entire character for me and soured my experience tremendously. I always look forward to this game if I get the itch to play the black and red Spider over 2 any day.

You really said side missions are the same as the first game lol. Side missions are the biggest improvement. They are genuinely bittersweet side missions that makes you care about the people in the community. Spider-Man ps4 did nothing like that and I didn’t even care about any side characters unlike that Asian character in ESU.

Back when the arkham series debuted these were nowhere to be seen in any of the games thankfully. People do what they want and I pray we can still get games that return to giving the players the best experience they can get and focus on the story rather than these dangerous political agendas. Not to mention that in spiderman remastered pc there was a mod on nexus mods which removed the pride flag and nexus mods banned it because it counted as hateful content on the site.
