I have a slightly different take on picking up things! Pick up everything that has very low mass, such as darts (there are different colors), individual playing cards, white and black board game pieces (there are several with different names but the same model), etc. When you unlock commerce, you have to buy/sell a certain number of "unique" items to unlock the next rank. I use my stash of low mass junk items to give me a head start into each tier of the commerce skill. Once commerce is leveled, then it isn't worth messing with anymore.

Upgrading my ship early made a big difference. Quickly upgraded my skills to fly class B ships and made a custom ship with a 3000 capacity cargo, 600 shield, good weapons, all crafting stations. Makes looting less of a hassle and space combat a whole lot more fun. Also makes managing resources between outposts easier. I would save about 150,000 to 200,000 to build a good class B ship from scratch with the best parts. Tracking ingredients is important.
But be sure to do it from one point for materials and reevaluate it every now and again.
Thing is you can't *UNTRACK* ingredients without the originating menu.
Meaning if you tracked Milk for a research project early on and finish that research project shortly later Milk stays tracked forever.
Reason: You can view past research projects, but you can't track it's resources anymore.
    Similar for weapon modifications.
If you tracked materials to build a supressor for your solstice right after you had access to a workbench you can't *UNTRACK* those materials by using the workbench and select the supressor for a maelstrom. They are the same, but the game does not care about that.
You need the solstice to actually get rid of it.

The focused beam is also the best weapon if you run into a Terrormorph on Kreet, during the tutorial. Follow Obi-Wan's advice and get to high ground, sacrifice Vasco as a distraction, and then lay into the beast with your focused Cutter beam. It will take a few times recharging and the TM can still hit you with its spit attack, but it is so much faster than the Maelstrom or Grendel that you've probably picked up.
In general, that focused beam is one of the strongest early game weapons anyway. I typically use it frequently until about level 15 or so, when it finally starts getting outclassed by loot drops.

I did this early game. But at some point, it's just not worth it to pick anything up that doesn't have a 3,000/1 credit to mass weight ratio. Spacesuits are very deceiving. They seem like they might be worth a lot, but they aren't really worth much of anything at all in terms of their mass. The only time I pick up a spacesuit is if it looks like I might want to take it with me to possibly mod it for my own personal use. Handguns are generally the most value per mass.

@@BrentDnDif you get better weapons and play on a higher difficulty you basically get 5-10k creds or more per body. For me, it’s literally not worth the bullshit items later on that are worth only a few creds each.
Early on, this can level up your commerce, but when you max that out it’s not worth it anymore. For me I basically only get advanced and refined, or calibrated weapons. Nice stuff i did not know few things myself but some of thing you say are only good if you do not use your powers, moment you start using powers game change and become super easy, I'm lvl 128 and playing +11 game and i play only on very hard mode and this are my few tips:
for combat, start using Phased Time ( you get that once you finish your main story and at lvl 7+ you can be in slow mode constantly) with this power you will kill anything in game for example on +11 on very hard lots of mobs will one shot you so you have to use powers. Untill you get this power next one very good is Anti-gravity Field very powerful against multiple targets and you get it early in a game.
Harvesting resources its way easer with powers too Elemental Pull is one to go for and from lvl 4 you can spam this ability, what it dose it collects all resources around you in a big area in one click. you will fill up your inventory full of resources in like a 2 minutes. plus will collects stupid toxic stuff without you getting some sickness.
Next one its something you did not mansion at all but i know many have problem with, stealth missions again there is power you can get Void Form even at lvl 1 will let you be in front of NPC and they will not see you as it make you invisible. Making all stealthy missions a breeze.
One more thing for space combat if you have problems with winning fights just install:
    3x Obliterator 250MeV Alpha Turrets
    2x Obliterator 250MeV Alpha Beams
    2x Exterminator 95MeV helion Beam
this weapons are extremly good and have over 4000 range so everything will die before it get to you

In Fallout 4 you could lean out of cover when aiming, but not everyone was aware of it. Personally, I would have loved it if junk items were made with crafting components like in Fallout 4. It's strange that there are a few thousand junk items that can be sold for very little and have no other use, especially with the base building feature.
Regarding looting, I only pick up items that are worth 5000 and above for weapons and armour. Ovcorse in higher level areas, the items can have more add-ons, making them more valuable. Weightless items like ammo, credits, and healing items are always picked up, but this is just my personal preference.
Lastly the game doesn't provide much information about certain features, like the mining beam. Todd had mentioned that they wanted players to discover things on their own and share with others.

You have to get out of scan mode to harvest any liquid or gas resources. The first few caves I went through I had scan mode on so I could see where the resources were and you have to be in this made anyway to use the mining laser. I found, though, that I couldn’t harvest any of the gas vents or liquid seeps until someone told me to turn off my scanner first. I would have thought this kind of information would have been part of the mining tutorial at the beginning of the game.

Probably the biggest tip anyone can get is pick skills that synergize, they exist across multiple categories, before trying to diversify. I've seen tons of people bogging down in spreading out their skills and then have a rough time, this applies to the exploration and crafting as much as it does combat. If you focus and synergize the skills, the XP and money rolls in consistently and you're not stuck in those awkward timings where you feel like you have nothing to do or those higher level boss mobs feel like bullet sponges. I would even argue its worth it to skip those "must have!1!!11!" skills and focus on getting some specialization going, this makes gaming life so much easier, and will make you feel better when you realize you didn't miss much by waiting to get lockpicking.

    • @BigNopes
      @BigNopes Год назад

I would also argue, don't pick anything up thats not needed, pick up weapons, ammo, and armor, then move on (maybe contraband if you're good at managing vendors). The time to money & xp ratio will go up significantly and before you know it, you're a millionaire and have more junk to sell than the vendors can afford. I don't even run with a companion anymore because they are useless once they aren't used to hold your junk. And don't forget to sell ammo, no vendor should be left with a single credit - to say you get 6.5mm CT every where and it isn't used for much of anything worth mentioning.

After you scan a planet (say a gas giant that has 5 moon’s orbiting it), you can swing the camera around and scan any within view, the ones on the on the other side of the planet, press back (B on Xbox) and move the camera to the next moon and scan. I wasted so much time on this or just ignored the moons because it was time consuming.

The easiest way to level up crafting is to install a cheap mod and then install the no mod and just do it back and forth how many ever times you need to in order to get to the next level. If you're playing on normal, there really isn't a need to upgrade combat skills. If you do level them up, I'd upgrade everything else first that you want. In early game, every weapon does 5 to 20 damage at most so those skill points you're putting in to them are only giving you 1 to 2 extra damage. Later on, when you get higher tier guns, those few points will increase the damage a good bit, but the AI is so bad you still don't really need them. I'll probably end up putting some in them once I get the rest of the skills I want. Ballistic is the way to go if you do want to put some points for damage. The vast majority of the guns are ballistics, so you can put 3 points in there and have 30% extra damage for 95% of the weapons. Laser, EM, and particle beam weapons got the shaft. It would be nice if you didn't really have to make that choice, but leveling up takes so damn long. Not to mention, there's 82 skills with 4 levels each. Thats 325 times you need to level up minus the 3 you already get at the start. I understand not wanting us to have every skill and to make it an actual choice, but most people who play this game will finish and be around level 40 to 50. There's so much stuff you're sacrificing bc of how long it takes to level up and how many times you would have to level up. The rate we level up should be 2 to 3 to be as fast, we should get 2 to 3 sskill points per level, or there should be a level cap but once you unlock a skill you just have to do the challenge and not use a skill point for the next tiers of the skill. I'm having a blast playing this game, but the more I think about it, the more I realize how many terrible design decisions went into it. This game needs a 20 gb quality of life update.

2:58 Why do people keep telling to not pick up everything? One of the earliest skills (besides boost pack training, if you didn't pick a background that has it already) that IMO is a MUST is Commerce!
To level up Commerce you have to sell a big number of unique (different, no duplicates) items. It doesn't matter what you sell, so you might as well be picking up all the random free crap you can, and sell it to get credits and points into Commerce so that you can buy stuff for cheaper and sell for more credits. Level 4 of Commerce lets you buy stuff for 20% cheaper and sell for 25% more profit, so it's well worth it. I know you'll get overencumbered, but you won't die and it'll be worth it as soon as you can get to a vendor to sell all the stuff.

  • @seanthiar
    @seanthiar Год назад

4:00 That is a mistake - you should pick up every weapon regardless of the stats. An enemy weapon is always loaded, but when you drop it you remove the magazine. That means if you pick up a weapon that has 50 bullets loaded and you drop it immediately after the 50 (weightless) bullets stay with you. That is especially important for weapons were the ammo is rare or that go very fast through ammo.
A mistake you missed is not sleeping. First you get a XP bonus for sleeping and second if you are awake to long you get problems. Your view blurs, you miss more when shooting and you stagger more easily.
Food and chems have a problem - they don't stack. If you eat something that gives you 3min 10% O2 and after it one that give you 2min 5% O2 you get only the last effect. Same with damage protection etc. Food items for healing are useless in my opinion. I only carry with me chems that help with ailments and that helps with stealth.
Ship upgrades - Until you are lvl 60 you should upgrade your ship every few levels, because every new level gives you new upgrades.
Don't use dozens of pieces to upgrade - just upgrade one item and remove the upgrade again and rinse and repeat. It is enough that you upgrade, you don't need to upgrade different items to count as an upgrade. And btw crafting is a nice tool for removing the 'stolen' mark - just give it a simple upgrade to the item and in the process the 'stolen' mark is removed.
Mining laser - there is another thing many miss. Put 4 skill points into lasers and the mining laser is one of the best weapons in the game and you have it always available. Lvl 4 adds fire damage to laser and it stacks. Even high level enemies are down in a short time, because they get massive fire damage. If you have the laser from the constellation rescue mission you have even a bonus against robots. The only problem is the short working distance and the recharge time when there are more enemies.

I would recommend never using the ship upgrade option. It is quick, but it doesn't show or give all the better upgrade options as it filters out many of them. One example is weapons that you can have 3 max and 4 max. it will only show the number that matches what you have. Everything else only shows the same brand/manufacturer. Using the fast upgrade ship option, is a mistake. More specifically to the example I mentioned; EM weapons. The best in the game has you equipping 4, the rest, you can only equip 2 to 3 so you won't know it's an upgrade and they won't appear on the list.

Sounds like you made the mistake of not keeping a reserve weapon of the same type in a different caliber. If you're doing a pistol build, hold on to an Eon, the 7.77mm rounds it uses are dirt cheap and are used by most enemies. Similarly for rifles, you'll want to keep a Grendel or Beowolf on hand even if you've otherwise upgraded to something more powerful, you're unlikely to ever run short on their 7.77mm rounds.
You may lose some damage and DPS when you swap to such a reserve weapon, but you may find that if you're fully invested in those weapons then that reserve weapon can still be better than swapping to another category weapons that you haven't invested as many points in.
In the case of pistols, carrying a backup Eon uses up less space in your inventory than an outfit, with a light yet capable build coming in at just around 1 unit before any legendary effects are applied, and barely heavier than a foam cup if you can roll one with the Titanium effect.
