Hi Doctors! Love your videos, im 20 and been playing basketball for 8 years. My knees are shaking during practise. Is that normal? And can you guys do a video about stretching your feet and chin muscles. Tnx!
Hey Docs, my husband had a lateral release 3 years ago at the age of 20, and was sent to PT but communication from the hospital to the PT center was not clear and they thought he only had a knee scope (was the original plan.) So he was doing some very intense exercises that ended up causing severe inflammation, his knee got red and splotchy, and very warm. He was told by his surgeon to keep weight off of it for as long as possible. As a 20 year old at the time, just sitting on the couch doing nothing was getting very frustrating especially since the pain was not going away. He ended up going to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and they said his quad muscles were atrophying due to no exersice. They essentially re taught him how to walk and gave some good tips. But 3 years later, my husband still has trouble with his knee swelling, very hard time with stairs, and just wants to be the active person he once was. Do you have any tips?
Hi Bob and Brad, I had my total knee cap replacement surgery about 15months ago. Still I have knee pain, stiffness on that operated knee. Pushing the knee cap up and down down, then side ways: is it safe for me to do this exercise. Please advice. Thank u very much for ur tips. GOD bless
Great video. Thanks. :-)
Brilliant - so well presented and informative. Love your channel.

Excellent comments . Thanks. H annan
What to do if both knees are bone on bone? Leg and knee stability is bad.
One of my knees creaks quite a lot on bending .
What do u suggest for me. I'm a 50 year old with chondromalacia patella. I don't have too much pain nowadays though
Thanks guys! Had a lateral release a little over a year ago and the knee pain is back so I'm going to work on the kneecap stretches!
Keri Murphy my husband also had a lateral release, when he was just supposed to get. Knee scope. He was 20 at the time and he has never been the same. He had to re-learn to walk again. Surgeons at the Mayo Clinic told us that doctors don't do those anymore because they are not proven to work. Trying to find some help for him.
In my research after my surgery, I've seen the same thing. The surgery doesn't really have a great track record. Wish I would of never had it done. Ugh, that sounds terrible about your husband! Has PT helped at all for him?
Keri Murphy yes and no. His first round of PT right after the surgery was terrible because his surgeon did not communicate with the PT center and they thought he had only had a knee scope done so it was wayyy too intense of exercise for him. Left him in severe pain, incredibly swollen knee, it had a fever, and was red & splotchy. His doctor told him to rest and do not put weight on it. When he went to the Mayo Clinic they were livid with his surgeon and said that his leg muscle was atrophying because it wasn't being worked out. Which is true, he cannot flex his left quad anymore. But the second PT place he went to was wonderful, they eventually just gave him at home exercises to do, and then he found a great personal trainer who is helping his strengthen his leg. For a while he was very depressed with his situation but it's been in recent months that he finally has the mentality that he is not his injury, and sure it's going to hurt, but he is going to work through it. He recently ran a short distance, he said it was uncomfortable, but mostly weird because he had forgotten how to run. The most major thing right now is that he has worse arthritis in that knee than before, and we live in Oklahoma, so weather & pressure changes are almost a daily occurrence so it really affects it.
I am having pain on the medial aspect of my left knee. Have iced, ROM, stretched. Compression and elevation as well without improvement over a weeks time. Patella moves fine. Help!
Hey, you guys! My mother had both knees replaced 3 years ago. Unfortunately, she didn't do the exercises prescribed for her as attentively as she should have and now her knees are VERY stiff! And painful! Can you guys recommend anything that I can help her do to improve her knees? She's starting chemo soon and if she could feel a little better before that starts it'd be great! Thanks in advance!
You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for sharing all this valuable information. You have been extremely helpful and encouraging.
I found exercises from my physio amazing. It helped so much I canceled going back to the specialist who wanted to operate, yahoo!
Is it still working?
Hi! Is the last exercise safe for the hEDS people? Thanks!
If, hypothetically, you had a patient that presented with moderate gonarthrosis, decreased joint spaces with major involvement of the medial, misalignment of the femorotibial eye, periarticular calcifications, retropatellar chondromalacia, prominent tibial spines, would you recommend a knee brace or a knee sleeve? Or only exercise? What type of knee brace or sleeve should the person buy if you recommend them. Many thanks for your help and wisdom. Happy Holidays!
hey doctors, i injured my back doing the ab wheel while on my toes. its been a month and the pain hasnt gone away. but it is very bearable pain and i only feel it when im exercising. could i have a herniated disk?
I love their intro😂
I sing it as I do my pt
I can do every exercise with pain during and afterwards. If I keep during it ,your saying I will have less pain?
Which is worse for future..not being able to bend or straighten ?? I think I have meniscus issue but x ray shows medial arthritis left knee.
How many times a day shd v do these exercises
Is this related to hamstring inflexibility?
The more people I talk to who have had lateral releases, the more I learn it generally makes things worse. I went in for a scope surgery to clean up a meniscus tear, but they did a lateral release instead. The resulting pain is horrible, my leg is weak and unstable, my knee isn't tracking correctly (and it was fine), and my knee pain is the same if not worse. I have since discussed this with numerous knee surgeons and this seems to be a common way of dealing with many types of knee problems. If lateral releases are causing more harm than good why on earth do they keep doing this to people? There is a FB page on this topic - but I don't do FB. Thanx guys for all the great exercises to help us old folks stay mobile!! But I gotta know: How do you mend a broken heart??!!
Do you guys have any other tips beside the one video to give me I have a mix of oshgood slauter and patellar tendonitis

How do treat knee pain
Excellent video I hope my knee pain will get better these exercises will help me both of you guide peoplein a pleasant way thanks May Allah bless you healthy life good luck
Hey there my knee swelling whats it mean
How long before you should be concerned after a tear of the meniscus for his healing
I can barely move my patela. Yet, I don't have any pain or real problems. Should I be concerned?
My knee has hurt for 5 years... this helped
If I had surgery for acl and mcl and don’t have full range of flexion? Should I be worried about it? I run cross country and I’ve been careful increasing mileage and my knee had started hurting at the beginning of the week? Could it possibly be a minuses re tear? Because of the ponding and running up hills is also painful
What if the pain it is so intense & sharp that I cannot move my leg please? The pain I feel it is behind the knee but since yesterday the pain it is in my whole lower leg.
What ended up happening for you?
@@TheMarleeray I went to the doctor she prescribed me, quality shoes, two pain killers and exercises, I do lots of stairs and walks, the more you strengthen the muscles of your legs the more the pain in the knee will diminish or completely go away.
What if the pain comes from having little to no cartilage?
Both of you are 15years old apart? Im surprised. Exactly how old is Bob and Brad respectively?
My leg is not bending due to pain behind knee and thigh muscles r not stretching
I had surgery on my leg yesterday
Trying this knee cap thing right know

These katz r the beez....knees
My knee feels like it’s going to break; I have had surgery for a torn meniscus; I have been limping
Ok, you had me at 'avoid knee surgery'. I had a big fall this summer and have had trouble with my knee and now foot on that leg since. No, I didn't go to the doctor. (Also had trouble with my surgical shoulder from that fall so that was more worrying.) Yup...shame, shame. Three months later now with trouble still (middle aged, non-athletic) I think I should probably have gotten treatment. (Duh?) Stairs, no trouble but I absolutely cannot bear any weight on the injured knee while kneeling (like at the top of the tibia). But really, who wants to waste medical professional's time being a patient who doesn't take proper care of their body? At any rate, I'll keep all your info in mind. BTW, have you got any info on 'phantom' deep-bruising of the top of the instep of the foot? (Lol!)
He was just saying to me and I didn’t want to be with you and he was so mad at me because you didn’t know me too I didn’t want you guys too I
Ugh Packers fans....but good video lol
I got sudden, debilitating pain in BOTH knees simultaneously four months ago, out of the blue. No injury, no prior history. I can barely walk. I can't figure this out!
Bob is 7'3"
6'6" to be exact!
its so weird.. i can flex and straighten my left knee without any pain but when i'm on my feet it feels like any sudden movement will make my knee buckle(happened once already).
You can’t compare one knee to the other one if the other one hurts too.
By the way, I am in my late 70s😅
The sound is awful on the knee video.
Krishnan has nnnnjjiii
Poor thing I have a good night to give 78.
This should be named ways to test if you have knee issues. The video is too long and could've been more concise on the exact tips and exercises for knee pain instead of all the ways to tell if you have knee pain..
Relectrod Don’t forget these guys give up their time to make these videos. They are the most helpful physio videos about and have helped me and I’m sure many others. Don’t watch them if you are some sort of RUclips critic.
Actually if you paid attention, they go through several exercises to strengthen knees and hamstrings, but they always stress the limits to respect if you have pain. Maybe this is what confused you.
I agree. Just take what is helpful to you. BUT, they DID give exercises, go back and rewatch it. They try to cover all the bases.
I want to hear the 10 tips from these guys but all they do is blah blah blah
I heard them just fine. You may want to try listening closely to what they have to say. Sometimes PT's will chat a bit to help their patients relax, but the nuggets of information are there. Just be patient and pay attention.
