I had a medial meniscectomy in September 2015. It was under general anaesthetic, I was in and out of hospital within about two hours, and was running up the stairs that same evening. The surgery gave me my life back, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I remember when I was in high school, I damaged my knee so bad that it would sort of feel like it would collapse or lock for a few seconds with just about every step. I walked with a bad limp for weeks. And if I sat with my knee bent for awhile, it locked up even worse. Sometimes it still does. It's never quite been the same since. I was 16 then and now I'm almost 24. The reason I never got it checked was because my family would not take me to the doctor unless I was basically dying because we couldn't afford much. It happened again later although I think I was still healing then but one wrong move caused it to get worse again. Both of my knees have gotten hurt but my right one is the worst one and the one that's been injure most. It's healed by now. I don't know if it healed correctly though... so any advice for someone who had to recover from something like that without medical attention? If I walk too much, my knee joints will get painful and feel like someone stuffed something into them, especially the right.

Had something very similar happen. I'm a skier/snowboarder and have abused my knees for years. One day, my knee popped while stretching and I hurt a ligament or my meniscus. I didn't have any insurance or the out of pocket money, so doctors refused to see me and I was scared to see what the ER bill looked like. I walked with my knee in a bend for 2 months and wouldn't stand with much weight on that leg. It eventually got better, but I still have some trouble with it a couple years later.

I had a fall in March this year whereby I was diagnosed with Femur fracture and a lot of different tears. I was put on a brace for
8 weeks - non weight bearing - but of course after 8 weeks my quads and thigh muscles were shot to pieces !!!
I am now 10 weeks after the brace and now weight bearing and i cannot bend my knee or have enough strength in my left knee to even carry me 100%. I am still on crutches and am constantly reminded by everyone that they are surprised !!! without the crutches i do not have enough strength to carry myself and sit down etc. my physio is telling me that i am mending far slower than the average person !! again more stress !!! I am 61 years old and very fit - I did combination yoga pilates 3 times per week as well as pump classes. i have been exercising all my life. I am very frustrated as everyone seems to have an opinion as to when I should be walking without crutches. everything i see on you tube with you guys is all on good knees. I cannot relate.

  • @annebradley6086

I had a bad fall on the sidewalk. The ortho dr would not see me for a week, most likely for "show" because hardly anyone was in his office when I got there. He didn't even examine me! I was not on the table, I just answered questions. He did not even have me complete any paperwork. I saw ANOTHER dr and she ordered an ultrasound telling me that it was to check for tears which was a lie; she ordered it to check for a Baker's cyst and blood clots. The dr at the Imaging place was very nice and understanding. he called this dr and suggested it be changed to an MRI. They did change it and I went there a couple days later. So what happens? The med dr/internist's PA tells me I have a freaking broken leg, here it has been a month since my injury and I still get no treatment. I have been using my freezie wraps and actually take very warm baths for the heat, but it sure is hard getting out of the tub. The blood had pooled to my feet and they could see that, which is proof of a tear. So what do they say? It is a bruise, despite the fact it was not visible for a week! I see Dr. No. 3 next week. How exasperating! All this and she says I have a broken tibia which does not even hurt, so she says I have "referred pain" I told her that was ridiculous. She is trying to make me look like a mental case because it would be so much easier for her to explain her incompetence!

I’m a 13 year old very active soccer player. I play with the U15 girls team in my hometown.
In february, 2018, i began having knee pain, and i began playing soccer in october, 2018. The pain has gotten so much worse since then, and i’ve been at the doctor’s and the hospital in a total of 24 times since novmber, last year.
But 4 months ago, i fell at soccer practice, dislocated my patella and tore my LCL. 2 months ago, i tore my meniscus. And 2 weeks ago, my knee hyperextended at the soccer camp, and i couldn’t stand on my leg for 1 hour.
I’m in pain every single day, and i’ll have to call my doctor bc i need painkillers.
I’ll have to get surgery next year, so i’m pretty nervous:/

My pain is in the very inside of where the 2 knee bone joints come together. I am thinking miniscus but these exercises are too painful to do to check it out. I am wondering if its meniscus if it can heal on its own or is it always time to get operated on?

@@flutingaround Update. Actually, on March 9th I was able to have surgery done by one of only two surgeons in the state of Alabama who are qualified to do this particular procedure. He's an oncological orthopedist who saw my MRI somehow through the system, and contacted me to come in. He agreed to see me without insurance (of course I have a huge bill now I've never be able to repay, but I figure he knew that to begin with). He removed a fist-sized tumor from my knee. He said this kind was always benign even though so large, and the biopsy confirmed it. I was also able through the hospital to get four free in-home therapy sessions, a brand new walker and medical toilet frame. I have an incision that's about six inches long, but I am back now to being able to walk around okay even without a cane; but, I have to take it very slow and deliberate, trying my best to avoid any stumbles or falls.

    • @GoldAndSilver988
      @GoldAndSilver988 4 года назад +1

@@flutingaround Thanks. He said there is no particular cause for this kind of tumor. They can just appear anywhere at anytime. However, the knee is by far the most common location. It's called a Giant-cell tumor. He said that if I hadn't had it removed it would have just kept growing and eventually caused the femur bone to just snap in two. I sure can't imagine what kind of pain that would have been.

When I had my torn medial meniscus, no one was allowed to touch it because it hurt pain level 10. Could not bear weight. First doctor saw nothing on xray but after another week went to orthopedist for mri. Between that I was a demonstrator at a fair. Had my leg elevated on a chair. An older woman thought I was being cute showing off my sock foot and proceeded to grab my foot and shook my foot and leg hard further damaging the ligament. No surgery needed but injection and therapy helped but took two months before I could use my leg to drive. So, what I had you would never had been able to test.

Lmfaoo I know how you feel! I was playing basketball fell on my leg, I got up, I hobbled.. got in my car I couldn't drive but I beared through it.. I was about to go to the ER.but.. I didn't want to pay the fucking bill, so I slept that night, woke up the pain was still there but even worse, I yelled for my dad, I hobbled to the bathroom. In so much pain couldn't even straighten it. Took me 8 months to fully straighted my leg plus I had work the next week, I injured my leg, literally the worst pain I have ever felt.. I wanted to die. But I got through it, sometimes it would click, lock, felt unstable

Hello Bob and Brad, I know this comment may not be read but I have my right knee that started feeling like a burning pain on the right side(lcl?) But then I noticed that when I put pressure where it's soft below my knee cap is, I feel the sensation on the outsideside of my knee. It's been like this for a month or so. This all happened after running and I can still do everything but I won't run anymore, just in case my knee may pop.
