I think I was doing really well focusing on my content and keywords, but then I figured I needed a Facebook page. I got all wrapped up in anxiety shortly after that and lost my focus. Luckily, I have calmed down now and am prioritizing what is possible in my current stage (what you once referred to as the sacrifice stage).
I just wanted to let you know how much you have been helping me this past month. I love you and Roberto Blake. You really do add value to this world. Keep it up.

The biggest challenge is the RUclips algorithm, realistically in any other business nobody would just keep going depending on AI to push and/or sell your product. From a work perspective there is no job that doesn’t require you to work hard especially if you want to be successful. You can do the best and most quality video possible, however if the algorithm decides that is not a topic that people want to see, nobody will ever find your channel. When this happens over and over again, people will burn out.

I personally removed the app from my phone because I would check my analytics all the time. Seeing that I would not get views or I lost a subscriber made me sad so now it's only on my computer, I check a few times a day and it's way better.

After 2 years of being on YT the two biggest things that have kept me from burning out is 1. Loving what I’m doing and creating. And 2. Pacing. I have seen daily challenges and passed on them. Or even multiple videos in a week. I have been able to stay consistent and put out quality content because I’m not over extending myself.
    Great vid!

Sticking to deadlines is difficult no matter what you do, whether its a 9-5 job or producing youtube content. Its tough, but one can do it. And it being possible is enough to push through even if you miss your deadline stay at it, i believe eventually it will become more and more consistent🙌

I think what has helped me from feeling burnt out is that I don’t have an “upload” schedule. Sometimes I’ll upload once a week, other times I’ll upload once a month. My mentality toward RUclips isn’t really ideal for an “aspiring” RUclipsr. If people watch my videos, cool. If they don’t, cool. It’s a hobby that I enjoy. Hobbies should be fun.

Those round table discussions are packed with so much value. Thanks for that, Sean. I seem to get burned out around the same time every year, so I take off from all social media for like six weeks starting in mid-November thru the New Year. I think taking a step back and reevaluating your goals at a regular interval is crucial to avoiding burnout. We're constantly changing as people and by the time we achieve our goals, we're often different people than the ones who created those goals. There's also some things you do as a creator that don't move the needle and I think the faster you can identify those things and pivot, the better you'll feel about where you're heading and what you're doing. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” Sub out insanity for burnout (often blurred in my mind haha) and work smarter, not harder. And be grateful. What an amazing time we live in, where we get to share out stories with the world! Cheers 🤓

"but there's a whole lot of work in the middle?"!
RUclips is a ton of work - much more than I anticipated :). A challenge with the field that I am in as well (life coaching and mental health) is that I hear from so people who are suffering so much around the world...and so many reaching out for free help. I've become affiliated with a couple of companies that can help people worldwide, so that has helped. I also put in place some "gatekeepers" so people have to fill out a form before contacting me, and an admin to answer emails. That has helped a lot.

My husband's name is on our channel (because I couldn't figure out how to change it), and I'm happy to say he is also starting to contribute his 2 cents--which is really helping it become a joint venture. Sometimes it doesn't seem worth it, but our videos are something I want to pass on to future generations, so giving up is NOT an option. Blessings everyone and just DO IT!

7 years of moral and sexual harassment led to a very deep burnout and PTSD. I am still on sick leave bekoz I can neither read or write, eat or grocery shop on my own. I had 2 children and the only bread winner. They had to eat so I kept going until they got older and started to work and left home. Then I collapsed. In the hospital they managed to mix up big doses of medication and I ended in a minor coma and had a near death experience. I was given the choice to stay or go back and I chose to came back. Soooo much love ❤️ and Parts of me wanted to stay, the other wanted back to do whatever it is I needed to do on this earth plane. A blessing in disguise. I lost 20 pounds bekoz I could not eat and slept on my friends couch for a year, she took care of me and ended up in a depressing herself. Now I am living in the present moment, I stopped making plans bekoz I could not keep my promises to show up. My social life got down sized and my employer who could not deal with the harassment issues for years is pretending that work had nothing to do with it. Every day is a blessing even if some days are faaaar tooooo difficult. I rest when tired. Still only eat with company and still can not be in public places alone.

I think this is great advice for those who are trying to build a huge empire via RUclips. For most of us, we are not trying to get to such a level we need a team to manage our channel. What we need to know is how not to burn out with a channel that has not had success or is at the point where we have success and can actually work full time and make a salary equivalent to working another kind of job. I went a year and a half basically building the channel and not earning a living. Now, three years in, I am earning a living. But, I work full-time and I have to manage the channel alone. I do NOT want to build it to the point of having a big business and being a CEO. I like working independently and have no plans to change that. I may never make huge money, but I am okay with doing what I love and earning enough so that I don’t need to quite and go get a different job.
So, what do I do to prevent burnout? I also have to balance my life. I need to not get overwhelmed by comments, emails, negativity, and the amount of work I have to do to keep going. One thing I have decided for myself is that I do not edit. I hate editing. I do all my videos and LIVES straight through. Some people don’t like this but many do because they find that I am very real and not produced. This works for me and cuts work time down. For those who edit, I guess one must learn how to edit more efficiently. Comments, well, don’t get bogged in them. Emails? You don’t owe everyone a long response or any response. Decide what is worth doing that gives you 90% of your success and don’t waste time doing 90% of what really isn’t helping.
After that, don’t stress so much, enjoy your work, enjoy family, friends, hobbies and travel, so that life is worth more than work. Good luck!

So true! The closest I got to burn out was when I did VLOGMAS this past December. I treated it like finals week in school. But, on New Year's Eve I was completely over it and wondered if I wanted to keep going with my page. That was when I decided to treat my page more like I treat my business and schedule filming, editing, and posting. It has seriously helped. While I don't see myself doing VLOGMAS again, I learned a lot from it.

Oh Man! I'm in burnout right now. It's a struggle to create a new video. It happened when RUclips raised the bar for creators to 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch time hours. There is a segment of small creators who love a small niche and hitting 4,000 hours will be impossible. I have 1,600+ subs and not all of them come back and they don't un-sub. Other monetizing methods have failed. So without a monetization path it becomes a HUGE struggle for something I love. So the hunt is on for another niche to try and get the spark back.

So many great nuggets in this video. Near the end Sean talks about investing your money, my one comment to all RUclipsrs is to invest in yourself! Spending money to better yourself and better the business is critical for growth. Take big financial risks in the business and be more conservative in your personal spending. As always, great work Sean, thank you!

Totally is real. We've experienced it a few times. It's only been one year for us (we have two channels - one in English and the other in Spanish) and the amount of time and effort is crazy to anyone who's watching us struggle...but we know it's worth it and for a greater cause ❤️

I never think about burnout cuz all i want is to show and see myself growing in a good or bad ways,im sure there are some people will learn about my life maybe soon cuz i am learning every single things in youtube.Your right, why burning out brcause most of us want to earn money (no offense) not thinking to put more heart to make a good content. Make it happy healthy stress free and just keep going and have fun.

it is honestley really tough for me, i always check my channel lose a sub, see other channels in my game shooting up. I am creating a video every day and love it when i record it but then i just get extremelty tired to just have my channel growth going down and not up. It makes me feel like quitting and kind of making me depressed. Really tough on me and getting emotional and starting to struggle. have not had the chance to watch this yet but really hope it will help. Thank you!!

I think the biggest hurdle that new RUclipsrs and small RUclipsrs like myself are going through that everybody does in the beginning is the *refining* what you do, what you're talking about, and how you're doing it.
You feel like you're almost constantly Reinventing yourself in a way and that, right there, can be the biggest exhaustion and burnout factor in the beginning and that's where a lot of people give up.
Reinventing yourself and refining yourself as a RUclipsr is the biggest exhaustion point.
Keeping it simple is probably the best method and advice.

I’m starting to feel the burnout! And I think it’s because I’m not being as patient as I need to be in seeing growth. Also, I or someone in my family is always sick this time of year, so I’m just tired! Thanks for the encouragement and tips!

I don’t feel burned out yet, I just feel overwhelmed sometimes to have to post a video and I’m not doing it as often as I should, I guess because I need to believe in myself more and be my own cheerleader and just go for it 🙌🏻 I’ll never be perfect and I have to be ok with that and just have fun and create!

So here's my question-- I do it all on my own as I am a small channel only a few months old. Any advice, as I do editing, thumbnails, research, content etc all by myself. How do I manage all of this on my own without burn out and at one point do you think it's important to hire people to help?

  • @Monoperty
    @Monoperty 4 года назад

Very encouraging Sean and 👍 smashed! RUclips is VERY much hard work. I don't think I've encountered burn out per say, but I have allowed other things to distract me from creating content in the past. I have now changed my routine to fix that. I'm guessing everyone has a certain amount they would like to earn regularly before investing any extra they make, so I need to give that some serious thought. Thank you 👊

I have only 150 subscribers and I can already relate to this. Part of me wants to get more, part of me is very anxious it could happen. I already get a lot questions and comments, I really wonder how burnt out people must be, that get a million times more - HORROR, my heart is racing when I even think about this.
