    I was taught knitting & crocheting when I was 9 my my grandmother & aunt & cousin. That was in the late 70's & early 80's. We always knitted on Aero knitting needles, theyre so silky & smooth, I never did find anything equally good, EVER.

    I did not know about interchangeable wires. I hate using circular needles, I used to think it was for old people, easier to hold, I hold a knitting needle in my right hand like a pencil, lot quicker than using circular needles. In 2017 I fell pretty ill, waiting for few surgeries, so I took up baking, something which I'd thought I'll do when I retire, now I bake my own breads. Also advanced myself knitting and crocheting wise. Boy, was I wrong about circular needles for old people and grip easy. I needed them for baby hats, and sleeves. I still hate them, but, cannot do without them. I wondered why i had to buy lots of them and why some lengths were smaller, and I had to buy the same needle size but bigger cord length. But thanks to your tutorial, lots make sense. I love the pouches you have to store everything.

    Thanks for a great refresher on tools. I have not knit in sometime, so this gave me the opportunity to check my tool inventory.

    Erica, that was really informative for new knitters and even though I've been knitting for years you gave me a couple tips that I can use. Keep up with your wonderful videos

    Yay!!!! I’m so excited you are doing this series. I’m one of the people that asked for it. I love your style of teaching and I want to learn to knit. Would love to be able to knit a hat like you made when you started knitting. Love the hats you made. I can’t wait for all your videos. Thank you Erica. You are the best! I do want to purchase some of your patterns once I learn how and can decide which ones I want to make. Hugs

    Love knitting, its so nice to see the end product. I surprised myself a couple of years ago bu making a shawl that was quite complex. Yes I made a few mistakes bu overall loved the challenge.

    Yay! I've been waiting for this. I used to knit when I was little, and I tried to teach myself again a couple of years ago, but only made a scarf before other crafts took more of my attention. I really want to learn how to make socks but I'm not sure what needles are best as I only have straights right now. I've seen tutorials for DPNs which look very hard to use and other tutorials using circs and magic loops. Added bonus is I'm left-handed.
    I'm really looking forward to this series.

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  5 лет назад

      I think for a new sock knitter I would use DPNs before circulars. Once you get familiar with it you can move to the magic loop method on circulars. :)

    WOW how spooky is that. I have just started knitting - I have chosen a short wrap over cardigan which is Knit and Pearl. I have just finished the back, decreased and shaped armhole and then shoulders. Just started the Right Front. I am thrilled you are doing this tutorial, as the pattern in areas has confused me ha ha. Thank you Erica for a great tutorial and looking forward to the others. Linda from England x

      I thought it was for the case to and I know I've seen the tutorial for the case. I would love to learn how to knit and I have attempted several times but this dummy just can't seem to pick it up😬🤦‍♀️😢

    • @kathleenchamp3764

      @@2kidsinutah aww don't stress it. I here I'd your a crocheter it's sometimes difficult to pick it up. Not sure of you crochet, but either way. There are a Cpl different ways to knit. you might already know bit there's European and continental. They say if you can't get one try the other. Katrina's creations she did a series on learning to knit. I know a few folks that loved it. Until i can get the right tote of needles i have to wait. Kind of a1n half arm bandit. The long old school can't move them about at needed. The metal circular i picked up at a thrift store, so tiny i can't grip them. Lolol God thing it was thrift store. I might be griping wrong. Thinking of a wooden set of circulars for grip .. one day. BUT DON'T GIVE UP ! I went through BI having to relearn speech, crochet, sewing everything. But I'm having more fun with the things im fighting to learn. Its worth the fight because YOUR WORTH THE FIGHT! FIGHT FOR WHAT IS GOOD AND GOOD FOR YOU ... crochet and knitting looming and embroidery are some of thee best stress relievers, fatigue relief and the people you'll meet up with are typically the friendliest. Make you smile and laugh and share shoulders when needed. The most caring individuals I've met in my whole life. Crafty, Creatives are built like non other. Heck the good LORD is the biggest and best creative mind in all creation.. giggle cause he created it giggle, and we're made in His image( we're all are, sadly I'm probably not making the point the way I intended lolol) and look away the peace and joy He IS.. never ending. I love reflecting that and seeing it in others.
      So, give it another try. If your not a crocheter you might jump right in and go. Once you figure out how to hold the yarn the best easy for yourself and keep your tension( like anything takes a lil time, muscle memory😁) you'll be flying along. I have great references for Chet( what I call cro"chet") that teach wonderfully and make it so very easy to!
      I reckon that's If your not already. Lolol
      Have Gloriously Blessed Day!🤗

    straight knitting needles were such a waste too me as once I started I quickly switched to circulars as they are so much easier to knit with. you can use them to stitch in the round or just use them to stitch straight.. I love mine and that is all I use anymore . you don't loose your needles in your chair or other places.
