it was a good idea also to attach the power supply and let us see how it operates !

With this module, i think you can charge a battery with maximum of 5-7 amperes

Hello stephen, yes ofcourse. This module works upto 24 volts and you can set your desired values of 13.4 and 13.7 for connect, disconnect.

Can this be used to charge one 12v battery with another 12v battery? How is the amperage for output controlled? Will this pump out 20amps continuously until set voltage is reached? Appreciate the video. Very hesitant to do what I need to for my situation.

Hello, thank you for your feedback.
      1. This circuit is only designed to control the peak charging point and lowest discharge point during which it will be operating.
      2. Your task of charging one battery from another will not be fulfilled by this circuit only, but you will need to add a boost converter just after the battery which will act as a charger to increase its voltage upto 14 volts or more.
      3. There is no such control of output amps because this circuit consists of a relay which either connects or disconnects the charger from the battery.
      4. I don't think that the relay, attached in this module, have the capability to handle 20 amps but you can add a secondary relay after this circuit that should easily handle this much amps.
By the way, when charging any 12v battery, i have never seen a battery that will consume 20amps of current while charging.
If the voltage of the battery goes too low, only then it might consume high amps of 20Amp, but obviously low battery voltage always damages its cells.
Best of luck for your project.

@@ERLEngineering I appreciate your reply. I have the unit you’re describing in the video and was thrown off by the spec sheet showing an output of 20amps. Certainly not looking for 20amps to charge my 110ah battery.
I have a boat in storage with the 110AH AGM battery I’m looking to charge. They’re no longer allowing use of my solar setup. With the described booster setup with this charge controller can I expect my source battery which is 80ah to provide enough power to charge the boats AGM from say 12.5V?
I wouldn’t want the source battery to drop terribly low as well in trying to make this work. Assuming I may need a LVD to cut power too solve this?
I’m not an expert at this by any means, just don’t want to create a potential for something to go wrong. Your videos are very helpful.
      Thank you.

If you are selecting the right DC to DC boost converter module, combined with this charge controller module, your aim will be achieved and yes your battery will charge but you have to also add this module on the charger battery side to avoid discharging it below its threshold point.
